Day 17

Today we began watching the film "Of Mice and Men". Tell what your first impressions of the film were. How do you feel about the chosen actors for the characters? Are they what you expected? Why/Why not? Do you feel like the film version may hinder your original ideas and visualizations of the characters and actions within the story? Explain.

The movies impression on me at first was where was the pond and that they went in a town. I think the chosen actors are great lennie is very well played so is george. I didn't really expect george and leenie to be almost exactly like the book. Curlies character is kinda off a little. Also the accent is also off a bit. I throught for some reason alost of people in the book were black. I come to find that they really aren't.

My first impression of the video we watched today was that it resembled my idea of the book very well. I thought most of the chosen characters were similar to how i viewed them. All except for George, i pictured him to be a more compassionate guy cause he had after all put up with Lennie for such a long time. Another difference i noticed was the setting of the farm. I did not expect it to be such a busy place. Because this took place during the depression and there were few jobs i figured the farm had few and limited jobs. Although overall most of the characters matched the personality traits and appearance i had viewed of them.

My first impression of the film was that it started off rather well, it cought my attention. I like how they didnt have anyone talk till George and Lennie hid in the pond. I think the actors chosen for the charasters were great choices, they are not what i expected but they were still a good choice. They werent waht i expected becasue i thought the characters would have looked different and that Lennie would have been bigger.

i thought the movie fallowed the book pretty well, which i was glad to see. as for the charicters, George seems prety good, but i cant stop thinking he's lieutenant Dan from Forest Gump. for i think he played him to. i thought George would be a little more squerly, and not as hard and cool as he was played. lennie seems like he should be bigger. and i think they made him to stooped, i didnt like his speech, i pictured him to have almost normal speech just bad grammar, and a little slower than normal. as for slim, he seems like a totaly different person. he seems to soft and talkative. not like the book. no because i read the book first, if it was the opposite then yes

I was very happy with a few of the characters but Lennie, Curley, and Curley's wife did not appear in the movie as I imagined them which i believe for everyone is always a disappointment. George is perfect and exactly as I pictured him, as well as candy. After reading the story first I really hope that not too many details are erased or replaced and hope much of the story remains the same or at least very similar. So far, I like the book better than the movie because it was my first impression and I was able to see everything in my own way. In the book, I was able to create everybody and each place exactly how I wanted to. While in the movie, everything is laid out for me and I don't always like that.

My first impressions of this movies were nothing but positive. George is a strong willed loyal man, and looks just as I pictured. Lennie is a tall, challenged man. Seems like this character fits his part. The characters in this story all make sense to me, and seems like I can connect the book and the movie in many ways. The way this movie plays out will determined weather I like the novella or the film better. So far, I like the flow of this movie more then the book. It just seems more interesting and catches my attention alot more. The author just didn't grasp my attention that well in this book. All in all, the storyline is great and the themes are all very meaningful. Watch this movie or read the book, either way your going to learn something wonderful.

So far the movie seems to follow the book pretty much exactly. I had a hard time envisioning most of the characters anyway, so I guess the actors are a good enough representation of the book's characters. I don't think that the movie will hinder anything that the book had to offer. So far it looks to be a the book put to pictures. Only one thing stuck out in my mind is that I don't think the actor for Lennie portrays his retardation quite how I imagined it to be.

the movies impression on me was kinda different than how i wouldve pictured it. I feel they chose the wrong guy for george because when i pictured him i thought he would be small and big and strong. The actor in the movie is short but very slim and didnt portray george to me. George was not the way i expected cause even though he was mean to Lennie i thought he would have some kind of sympathetic tone in his voice. The location was very similar to my ideas and visualizations. The only thing i havent liked so far was the actor chosen for george. Hes not sympathetic at all and doesnt look like my visualization. So far the movie has been pretty good though/

My impression of the film is that it was similar to the book and quite interesting. I also think that the actors were chosen well for the movie, all of them were alike in some ways. Curley is exactly what I imagined, short and hot-tempered. I did not expect Lennie to be balding, and I thought that Curley's wife was more pretty in the book. I also thought that Candy and Crooks were black, but I come to see that only Crooks is. I don't feel like the film version hindered my original ideas and visualizations of the characters and actions within the story because I saw so many similarities in the events that happened so far and the characters that it helped me visualize everything better. All in all, the characters were alike in both the novella and movie

My first impression when we started watching "Of Mice and Men" was awesome. i felt that the actors in the movie were well suited for this kind of movie i thought they met the quality's expected.I saw the same attitudes i expected in every characters especially curley just in every ones face. I expected every character to look like that except i portrayed candy as black not as he was in the movie. the reason i liked the characters the way they are is because i expected Lennie to be this big gumpy guy and George was a small kinda guy, but George seemed more aggressive in the movie. In my own opinion i see the book is slower then the movie, the reason i say this is because it seemed that slim received his puppy's to soon. so in conclusion my opinion was that the book is better for a long-term understanding and the movie was for a quick summary of the book.

I enjoyed the movie so far. However, it was nothing like what I had imagined. My first impressions of the movie were that it was an older movie and it seemed to go well with the book. A lot of the characters were different then I had pictured them. I pictured Lennie a lot bigger and taller and a little bit brighter then he was in the movie. Also Slim in the movie was different because I pictured him as a little more outgoing then he was in the movie. The film version changed the way I thought of the movie because all of the characters were different then I pictured and the area is differnet too.

The film confused me at the begining because the characters in some scenes were not in the same setting when occurances to place. I think Garry Sinise was perfect to play George although he acted a lot more up-tight than I expected George to be. I thought Lennie would be larger than his chosen actor (his body, hands, etc.). I also thought Carlson would be younger and thinner. Slim in my mind was a little smoother with lighter hair and a thinner face like George. The film ad book are different because everyone has a different form of the story in their head while reading the book such as the characters' looks as well as add ons or bits taken out. I don't think it ruins the story, it just shows me somebody else's perception of the sroty in their head. I'll always have my own perception of the story in my mind no matter how the film portrays it.

My first impression was that I thought this was going to be really weird. I thought this when the girl that Lennie attacked was running like a freak and makeing wierd noises. I also thought that it was going to be more visual, mainly because it was a movie. That actor of George reminds me of someone from a tv show. The person who plays Curleys Wife is different than I thought she would be. I thought she was suposed to be hot but in my eye's she's not. This movie will change my opinions on the book. So far there have been a couple of changes from what I comprehended from the book.

In the beginning i thought the movie was a little confusing. If i hadn't read the book, i would have had no idea what was going on. I think Lennie should look bigger and stronger. In the movie he doesn't look as strong as they say he is in the book. George looks tougher than i imagined. In the movie he has this old, tough look to him, and i didn't expect that. Curley looks different than i expected too. I thought he would be smaller and a little bit scrawnier than he is in the movie. I thought Curley's wife would look and act different too. i expected her to wear short dresses to show off her legs and to be more flirty with the men. The film version changes my original ideas and visualizations a lot. I had my own story planned out in my head of how everyone looked and acted. The film is not anything like what i imagined.

I thought the characters were chosen fairly well for how i pictured them. Although for some reason i didnt picture them as old. And all i could think of when i saw George was that it was Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump :) I feel like the setting was a little bit off, and it bother me. I cant explain exactly how i pictured it, but the farm didnt look the same to me in my head. When i watch the movie, i still relate back to my original opinions and thoughts about how the characters and setting looked. Its a bit harder now though to picture George and Lennie as anything but the actors that play them in the movie.

I thought the film was okay so far. I think the character that plays George fits what I imagened George to be like. However, I didnt picture Lennie the way he is in the film. I expected Lennie to be a taller person that was really buff. He looks a little bit smaller than I would have casted him. I think the movie will alter my original idea of the story. When I see movies and T.V shows after reading the book thats the way I picture characters always. I can never remember how they looked before in my head. But I liked the book and the movie is good so far.

The movie was a lot different then what i had imagined. I had thought of Lennie as taller then what he was portrayed in the movie. I had though that Curley was older. Also, i had imagined Curley's dog a lot older as well. George is about what i expected. No, i do not feel that the film might hinder my ideas because i already know what is going to happen. If i had watched it then read it, it would have.

My first impression of the movie was kind of a suprise. I pictured the characters a lot different from the reading then the movie. The characters chosen were not as good as I think they could have been. For example, I thought Lennie would be a lot bigger than he was in the movie. This threw me off a little bit during the movie. I feel that the film version didn't really change my idea about the story but it was a bit in change from my perspective from just reading.
