Day 15

Please ponder the following quote:

"Justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in finding out the right and upholding it, wherever found, against the wrong"

-Theodore Roosevelt

How does this quote connect to you and then how does it connect to Of Mice and Men?

To understand this quote i believe you must know right from wrong. To find what is right you also must know what is wrong. And to find whats wrong you must know what is right. So to me this means nce you find right to go and follow that right path and not the wrong. This quote connects to me because i believe i have found the riht way and am staying on the right path and not wondering away from it that much. In of mice and men george found what was right and the right thing to do was kill lennie for his own good. Also to make is to lennie wasn't scared at because if someone else did it lennie would have been terrified.

This quote is trying to relay the point that no matter how you may see it the truth is the truth. No matter how you may want to coat it, it is what it is. Also, It's saying that we must uphold it no matter what the circumstances. It's saying that justice is not right or wrong, but FINDING right and making it just. This quote can connect to Of Mice and Men, Even though it hurt George to hurt Lennie he did it anyway. In George's mind it was serving JUSTICE to kill Lennie because of all the chaos he caused. But can we really call taking a life justice? It's quite the opposite, Where is the justice for Curley? For Curley's Wife? There IS no justice, In the end a man dies, and a grieving widower mourns the loss of his wife? Think about it, Is that justice?

This quote is very powerful and touching. It holds true meaning because one will not understand the meaning of doing right until it outlasts the wrong. The action of doing right will always be stronger then what is wrong. Until one may figure this out, they are lost. This quote just explains how this happens. Many other people may relate, such as in the story Of Mice And Men. George does right the whole story. When evil tries to bring down Lennie, George is always there to support his best friend. It shows on and on through out real life and in this novella.

this is not my favorit quote because i don't really think there is a definite right or wrong. it all has to do with your point of view. for example Hitler thought he was doing the right thing in killing Jews, so according to this quot he was upholding justice by doing so, because he thought it was the right thing to do. but anyway, this quote connects to me because i always try to do what i think is right and if i can stop somthing that i think is wrong then i will. but but there are things that i dont agree with im not gana fight against it just because i think its wrong. if its not hurting me or others then i dont care what other people are doing. it connects to of mice and men when gorge kills lennie. he new it was the right thing to do so he did it. and many other decisions throughout the book.

I believe this quote means that to every situation there is a right choice. That choice is always upholding against the wrong. You must always know whats right when your trying to find out whats wrong. You must know right from wrong before you can decide if your making the right choice or not. This quote is similar to me because in situations, I always find the right choice and make sure i'm doijg the right thing. If i'm doing something wrong, then I find out what the right thing to do is. This relates to Of Mice and Men because George thought that doing the right thing was to kill Lennie. George thought that would be the better idea because of everything Lennie caused. He thought he could end it for Lennie and not make him go through any of that.

I think that this quote means that there is not exactly right and exactly wrong. There is sort of an in between in which the decision is good in one point of view and bad in another. Things in my life that would relate to this quote would be like if a friend wants to copy homework. I always say no which is good but my friend may get mad at me for not letting them copy. In the novella, and obvious example would be when George shoots Lennie. It was a good decision in some point of views because he is saving Lennie from society torturing. On the other hand, it could be seen as bad because Lennie was an innocent man that didn't know he was doing wrong. This quote, in my opinion, iis mostly saying that not everything is black and white.

This quote is saying to do the right thing. It doesn't matter if it is justice or not. You must also try to turn the right thing into the most justice thing. It connects to me because most of the time I try to do the right thing. When im not doing the right thing I am doing the most justice thing. In of Mice and Men George has to make a very big decision. This decision is all based on character and believeing what is right. He decides to kill Lennie and he believes it is right. He had to turn the right decision into the most justice one also. Killing Lennie was the best posible solution to the question of what to do with Lennie.

To me this quote means that you should do what you believe is the right thing. You should take an opinion and stand up for it. This relates to me in sports. If i am doing something and the coach tells me something else but i don't think its right, then i will stand up for myself. Also it makes me have opinions on certain issues. If i think something should be a certain way, then i say so. This quote relates to Of Mice and Men near the end of the book. George decides to shoot Lennie and to him that is the right decision. Because he believed it was right, it was justice for him.

When I ponder this quote I think that you have to know what is truely right and what is truely wrong. This quote kind of connects to my life. When someone wants to do something and I know that wwe should not do it I tell them no. They think that I do not know what I'm saying but I do. I know right from wrong and when I know something is wrong I do not do it. George kills Lennie and he knows that it was right because he was protecting Lennie. George knew what was right and wrong. Just like alot of people today. =)

this quote means to me that if someone is wrong dont hold upon them and use it as an advantage. just to use it as a self advantage in ur motivation, just knowing that your right will be a self up boost. just not to hold upon ones head. like with the george and lennie case, where george popped a cap in lennie. george that it was right and left it at thatbut others found maybe that wasnt right but in georges eyes it was the right choice and as a personal choice it was better.

This wuote means a lot and connects with Of Mice and Men. He is saying that you have to find the right in things and you need to stick to that no matter what. It doesnt matter if you know what the wrong is as long as you believe that you are doing the right thing then that is ok. This connects to Of Mice and Men because George thought that shooting Lennie would be the right thing to do. He didnt want him to die in a really bad death so he decided to shoot him while telling him a good story so he would go out a good note. This quote says that even though it could debated shooting Lennie it doesnt matter because George thought it was right. This quote says that if you think that its right then you should stick to it no matter what. This is what wuote mean to me.

This quote first means that you should always try and find the right decision and always stick with it, no matter what, and don't back down the the wrong. Personally, I can connect to this because I always try and find what decision will benefit me the most in the long run. Sure sometimes the wrong decision may be tempting, but my heart truly knows the right choice and I usually go with that. This quote connects to OM&M because George thought that by killing Lennie, it would bring justice to everyone. In this case, George knew it was wrong to have Lennie continue his life here in society and that the right thing to do was to kill him. George upheld his decision to kill Lennie even though I imagine it was very hard for him. Altogether, choosing right from wrong can be hard in my life and in OM&M.

to me this means: to have justice, take the good and embrace it in order to break even or become equal. If we shoe the bad away and embrace the good, all our needs can be met. If we stay neutral on a topic of injust, nothing will be solved. A side must be chosen and to make things better, it's only logical to uphold the good of a situation. In Of Mice and Men, Curley could've punished Lennie for a while, perhaps locked him up, but didn't have to hunt him down intending to kill him. Instead of taking a neautral position and finding the good in it to build something good out of it, he embraced the bad and it ended badly. He should've cooled down and found a better alternative.

This quote connects to me because i like to find the right before the wrong and when i find the right it will always outshine the worng. Its best in life to find the good in people and not point out their flaws and that is also like finding the right and upholding it against the wrong. It is like when you see the good in whatever you find the bad part, isnt so bad after all. This quote connects to Of Mice and Men because with george and lennie they both foudn the right and used that against the bad past and looking forward to what the future will bring them both.

I think this quote means the understanding of the differences between right and wrong. It means like the ends justify the means. This quote speaks to me by it is a good way of putting to always do the right thing. You have to hold up what you believe is right. I think this quote really speaks about the end of the story Of Mice and men. George has to decide whether to allow the gang to capture lennie and most likely put him into a mental asylum or kill him. George believes he is doing the right thing by killing Lennie and is trying to do what is the right thing.
