We continue reading these stories that indicate levels of tolerance and perception. As discussed today, think about Heale tolerance of others in light of how others (whites) may have treated her. Also, think about her perception of herself and how strong she respected who she was when she could have jsut shrank away due to the hardships of growing up black.
For this evening, respond to the following quote:
Cisneros comments, "I managed to do a lot of things in my life I didn't think I was capable of." What can you gain by attempting to do the seemingly impossible? Explain your answer. Give an example if you have one.

By gaining the seemingly impossible you can aquire recognition for attaining your goal. For example, Barack Obama was said to fail at becoming the president of the United States of America. To much surprise, he became president, even though a majority of the population thought he wouldn't. An example in my life is, I thought it would be impossible to make the freshman volleyball team. I was never very strong, or gifted at volleyball up to this point in my athletic career. But much to my surprise, I made the team! Through hardwork and perseverance I attained, what seemed as, the impossible.
Doing something you see as impossible can push you to do better in life. When impossible feats are acomplished it shows that not all things are so impossible. If you try hard enough you can succeed. Now it's just a matter of it you want to push yourself to do it or not. My examle is when I used to compete in dance competitions. I was a good dancer but not great, and I always thought the other dancers were better. Suprizingly I managed to get over to bring in atleast 5 First Place trophies in two seasons of dance.
Many people say you can't or you won't do achieve certain things but to much surprise they can. In my opinion i think that when people say you can or won't be able to do things that person can't. the twist is once any human is told that, two things pop into there mind, one is that the others are right or two, they think "I'll show them" and try harder in that subject to the point were they can and they do it very well. an example i have is when i joined football, i use to be a soccer player starting from 5 years old up to my freshmen year on the freshman soccer team, so people thought that i couldn't play football because soccer players aren't tough. Well i focused and pushed my body during work-outs so i could prove those people wrong. As the season ended those same people were saying how much better i got and how they thought i was one of the best on the JV team. this is how i did the seemingly impossible and proved some people wrong.
Doing something the looks impossable can raise many things. Like your standards and self esteeme. I thought it would be impossable for me to get higher then a C in lit. I got B's last term and now im tryig for A's instead. This is an example of setting higher standards. One for self esteem could be someone telling you you'll never be able to do something. But you end up doing it can make you feel better then you can rub it in there face afterwords.
What you can gain by attempting to do the seemingly impossible would be what you learn along the way. There are so many levels you have to go through if your goal is seemingly impossible. You learn about yourself as you are trying to achieve this goal and by the end, you have the satisfaction that you actually did it. There was once this final exam i had to take and the material on it seemed impossible so i was going to just give up but then i realized that would be the wrong thing to do. I just kept studying and studying and once i got my grade back, it was an A. I was so proud of myself and couldn't believe i achieved what i thought was impossible. I knew from then on that what ever i wanted to do i could. it gave me more confidence.

You can gain confidence by attempting to do the impossible. If you think that something is not going to happen because it's impossible and you do not try then you will never know if it is impossible or possible. However, if you go out there and try to attempt the impossible and it becomes possible you will feel better about your self. Then you will think that anything can happen if you just try. An example would be recording a song. My friend wrote a song and she wanted to record it. At the time that she wanted to record it she thought that it was totally impossible to do so. Then she went out there and she found a recording studio and recorded it. She managed to achieve the impossible. Now she is more confident about herself because she achieve what she thought was an impossible goal. Another example would be when you try out for a role in a film. My sister and I thought that it was totally impossible to try to be in movies and everything. We went and tried out for a role. We didn't get it, however, later down the rode, my sister got to be in a movie. She thought that it was impossible, that her acting dream would never come true. Then a week later my friend and I got to be in a music video and become friends with the band. We both thought that it was impossible but now that we have gone out and attempted to make our dreams come true we feel more confident about our selfs.
Lets just face it. In reality, we all save the impossible for superheros and fantasies. What we need to do is ponder how we may be able to conquer the unknown. As we see it, the impossible is out of reach. What we always forget is how anything can happen. If we achieve what is impossible, we will end up with endless gratitude from others and confidence like no other. As a nation we just need to keep an open mind, wake up and smell the endless possibilities.

Achieving anything that may seem impossible to you will always end with positive results. From those who didnt believe in you, you can gain respect. From yourself, higher expectations and newfound confidence. When you prove anybody wrong in a positive way, perceptions of you will change for the better. An example from my life of gaining what seemed to be impossible was making the varsity volleyball team this past year. In doing so my perception of myself changed, i could make higher goals for myself and had the confidence to work towards them. My coaches and teamates expected more from me and acknowledged all my hard work. With positive accomplishments come positive perceptions.
Some things seem to be impossible to acheive but if you really want to do something you can do pretty much anything. You gain insight on who you truly are if you dedicate time on something that seems impossible. You also can some self esteem for feeling good by accomplishing something you wanted. People need to feel good about themselves and by doing something like that they could really boost up their self esteem.
If you achieve the impossible you can gain many things. One thing you gain is pride and pride makes you feel really good. Another thing you gain is courage. This makes you want to do other things. The more things you do the happier you will be. You will also be able to gain skills and maybe one day achieve something else that seems impossible. One example is being on an Olympic team and makeing a record. Very few people make it to the Olympics and even less make records. One day I would like to be in the Olympics but first I have to find something im good at thats in the Olympics.

Attempting to do the seemingly impossible may be frustrating. Failing may be a let down and you may not have anything to walk out of it with. But in the end the least you can say is that you tried. As long as you put forth your hardest effort to achieve that "impossible" thing that you want then in the end you have the greatest reward. If it is something that you truely care about then you will put forth your hardest effort to achieve it. If you don't succeed then at least you can say you tried. For example, I love to snowboard. I may not be the best snowboarder but at least I get out there and try to do it instead of just staying at home and not even trying. It is better then nothing. And eventually, who knows, maybe I will become better if I keep trying and working for it. But at least I can say I tried my hardest at it.
By attempting the seemingly impossible builds confidence and character. It shows that you are optimistic because although you may have doubt in yourself (hence the thought of your goal being impossible), you still give it a shot. It seems impossible for someone to be as good a drummer with one as they are with two. However, after the drummer of Def Leapard lost a limp, they kept playing an they are still selling out stadiums. He is now a music icon and is known for overcoming what some would never give any thought. You can only walk away a better person by attempting the seemingly impossible.
By attempting the seemingly impossible you can learn alot about yourself. you can learn that it is always benifitial to at least try something if it seems hopples because you gain experians. If you have success you will lean not to doubt your self as much. you will also learn that things that seem impossible are always potentially possible as long as the follow the universal laws of physics. you can also learn to be more independent by doing things yourself rather than reeling on others. an example of this is when you want to preform something in front of a crowd but never thought you could and you do it. Wether you do good or choke you have learnd much about yourself. you have learnd that you are braver than you thought for atemting it.
By attempting to do the seemingly impossible you can gain more than you could ever imagine. Just taking a chance on something or possibly someone in your life could open a thousand new doors and throw opportunities at you that you never expected to receive. It could give you new chances to create new things or even make old things right. Opening your mind could even give you second chances. I think when we're given the impossible we should take whatever we can get from it because we never know what that could lead to or what chances we could be given that could change our lives for the better.
By attempting to do the impossible, you already know that there are 2 possible outcomes. 1, you fail. Or 2, you achieve that goal and show everyone that the impossible CAN be achieved. When you reach a goal you feel like you can do just about anything. If your goal is seemingly impossible, it will make you feel that much better that you achieved it. When people tell you that you cant, you should be more motivated to try, expectially when the person telling you that you cant is yourself. By achieveing the impossible, you are gaining faith in yourself and strength to over come anything to get what you want.
Doing something that you think is impossible is proving yourself wrong. Many people give the negative aspects on themselves instead of trying and improving to push past the impossible. You can always try harder at life itself. Theres never a point where you just stop and say I've done as much as I can. You can simply always do more. An example where I've pushed myself to the impossible is in cheerleading. I'm flyer, or used to be and I used to have to push myself to get what I seemed to think was impossible. I thought every stunt I did was impossible and that I could never do it. Suprisingly, I shocked myself and I could do whatever I pushed myself to do. That's the perseverance of the impossible.
You can gain many things by attempting to do the seemingly impossible. You can gain a new outlook and perception on the thing you are trying to do. For example, this summer I learned how to wakeboard. I figured that wakeboarding is almost the same as snowboarding and I'm a pretty good snowboarder so I though it would be easy as cake. I tried to get up once but fell right on my face. I tried to get up a few more times but kept falling until I finally thought it was impossible and I probally wouldn't be able to do it. Near the end of the summer, I tried again and I finally got up. I gained a new perception because I now give wakeboarders more credit because for me it was really hard at first and I thought it would be easy but it definetly was not. Through new experiences and trying something new can make you gain many things as a person.
from this quote i could gain that people who try the impossible and succeed are the true winners of life not the failurs of the impossible dream they set their selfs out for. like in my life i thaught it was impossibe to ateast pass a class or not strggle in one but i started my homework one day and from there everythig has become clear that i dont have to pass every test and quiz jst pass some and do ur homework.
If i were to hear someone say the words, "i managed to do a lot of things in my life i didn't think i was capable of," I would think of an independent and happy person. What you think may seem impossible might actually be quite possible. If you just try to do things that are "impossible" you might surprise yourself. You could realize that you can do something you have never known you could do. Also, you could be much happier when you do something that seems impossible. For example, when i started playing basketball as a little kid i thought to myself, "I am never going to be able to shoot far from the hoop," or, "I am never going to be as good as a high school girl, its impossible."
But as i grew older i started getting better and being able to shoot from farther. Now look at me, I'm shooting threes all day and playing on a high school basketball team. Even if you think you will never be able to do something, still try it. Sometimes you will fail, but other times you will succeed and it will feel great.
Gaining something that seems impossible is a very difficult task to accomplish. If you can attempt this task and come close to achieving it, it gives you the sense that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. One example of this would be sports. As a little kid, i would always watch the older kids. I always thought it was impossible. I would admire their skills and want to be just like them. Now that i am older i realize that i have achieved my goals. It took hard work and determination but it was worth it.
Doing something that seems impossible and you acomplish it, you feel so rewarded and so much better about your self. The reward is much greater when you acompleshed the impossible or even tried. I thought it would be impossible to be able to do a back flip off the dock into the lake. but i was determind and my brother wouldnt let me give up, and once i nailed it, i was so proud of it, probably more proud then i would have been if i didnt think it was impossible. Because, thinking there was no way i could do it and then end up doing made it so much cooler and greater!
