For those who are new to the blogging world, you will need to write a short summary of the article and then write how the event has an effect on your life within in the world or the community. VERY IMPORTANT! NO CITE, NO POINTS

First lady calls for united effort to fight childhood obesity. Tuesday afternoon the first lady states in a conference that she is starting a united effort to lower the rate of childhood obesity. The "Lets Move" campaign is supposed to start new programs within communities to help lower obesity. Supposedly by the end of the year the food and drug administration will begin working with manufactures to make sure they are making more healthy products. I think this will help out a little bit within the country but it will not make a huge impact. Through out the past ouple of years the country has been adding more efforts in to fight obesity within the U.S. Through these efforts very little have changed their habits. For most they would like to lose weight but bad eating is a habit they have made in their life. Although i find it kind of the country to try to add in more effort to decrease childhood obesity, i do not find it making a huge impact upon us. Personally i think that the food administration should just be more aware of the products they are producing.

On Monday, February 8th, a man named Kaylan L. Policherla walked passed security screening. He refused to stop when security officials told him to. When proceeding, security was forced to use a tazzer take-down to stop him. Monday night Policherla was brought into custody and the terminal was searched, nothing was found, and security screening resumed an hour later.

Winter in Michigan has not been as active as usual. But winter in Washington DC has been out of control with as much as 30 inch of snow. snow is an abundance in D.C that has cars stuck and school out. hundreds to thousands without power hope to get it re-activated before another 5 inches fall. This does not effect me directly but for my Uncle he has a lot of shoveling to do. hoping we get a fraction of what D.c has received could shut down roads or schools. Winter might not be as evident as it is in Washington D.C but it is still as cold.
The event that I chose is "New Tobacco Danger: 'Third-Hand Smoke'." Scientists have long known that the residue from cigarette smoke clings to surfaces for weeks and even months. Children, who breathe in more dust for their body weight than adults, are most vulnerable to health problems from such "third-hand smoke." The new findings come in part from a highly unorthodox laboratory -- a 1966 pickup truck. This has an effect on my life because I breath in cigarette residue every day and don't even know that I am. I have personally breathed in over 100 packs of cigarette smoke throughout my life. This comes to show that smoking is very bad.

My current event is about the first lady and her attempt to get kids healthier. About one third of the nations kids are overweight and she is making steps toward lowering this number. She is setting up a website that gives out helpful information to get kids to make healthier choices. Also she is working with the FDA to try and get calories and other health info on the front of bottles and packages so more people are aware of what they are eating. All of these things are supposed to be up in about a year so we'll see if her actions help the nation out.

The current event is "Michelle Obama kicks off campaign to fight childhood obestiy" http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpps/news/dpgonc-michelle-obama-campaign-to-fight-childhood-obesity-fc-20100209_6029346
This campaign is trying to put healthier food in the school cafeterias. Plus this campaign is trying to get more physical activity in the school to keep kids fit. This event has an effect in my life. This is because if there is healthier food in school then there will be more people in a better condition. Plus if they get more physical activitys in school then the kids will be willing to go out and play more. They will not be exasted. Plus then the United States will decline with the number of people that are obesite.

After winning two of three stops in the Winter Dew Tour, Pro snowboarder, Danny Davis of Highland MI, will not be competing in Winter Olympics. A snowmobiling accident the night of his last Dew Tour win, leaves Davis with a spinal fracture from crashing into a closed gated area in Utah. Davis did not get to participate in the Winter X Games either.
This is a huge upse to the snowboarding community because Danny has been in his prime lately and was thought by many critics and fans to have a chance to beat the famous Tiger Woods of Snowboarding, Shaun White, In both the X Games and Olympics. It is also a great upset to myself. I wanted to see the young Danny Davis I used to throw a football with in the front yard of my home, clean Shaun White, the world's best, off the charts. I am sorry for Danny but hope he comes and healthy and storng.

Michelle Obama told America on Tuesday that its time to get moving. Speaking at the White House and surrounded by children. Michelle introduced a national effort to combat childhood obesity. This isnt about inches or pounds its about how our kids feel she said. There are more and more kids with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure today than ever before. I think this is both a parenting issues and a self issues. With all the fast food now a days and the lack of exercise going on. Also alot of kids sit infront of a T.V. phone or comeputer and get fat sitting on there ass all day. Half the problem parents just dont care and the other is that the child doesnt care eather.

Womens volleyball, one of Americas fastest growing sports, has reached new heights once again. Beach volleyball has recently recieved enough votes, making the list as a potential emerging NCAA sport. As of now play will begin in 2011-2012. Top collegiate volleyball teams such as Penn state are worried how this will affect their current court volleyball program. Other concerns include the lack of a proper enviornment for playing beach volleyball. Will teams in California have an advantage over Michigan and how will this effect recruitment? Personally, I support any advances in this sport that will increase competition. Having the choice between both court and sand volleyball at the college level will open opportunities for aspiring players everywhere, like myself.

my current event is on the cousin of sadam huessane who had poison gas in iraq which killed 5,000 citizens and later on the day of that he was assasinated (humanly), and this event effects by how now that i kno we still have terrorists out there trying to kill people maybe not such as us but other non willing people being sent to death by poison gas, and this makes me think that i could be or this country could be terriorized like nine eleven. so we need to destroy all terriorists that attempt to bomb or such any country not just our own but all of them.
Canada has recently had a discussion that they want to try and buy the Ambassador Bridge from the U.S. They have not yet made an offer but they do want to propose it to the U.S. This would effect my community because the bridge is a big sense of income for Detroit. Detroit is already in a major deficit as it is, and taking away the bridge would just hurt us that much more. The owner of the bridge, Manuel "Matty" Moroun, is also trying to stop the Detroit River International Crossing. He claims that up to 80 percent of the commercial traffic which now uses his bridge would now be using thte DRIC. Again, this would be another loss of income for the city of Detroit and would halt people from coming to Detroit and spending their money here.

Today on Tuesday, the First Lady expressed that the Congress will make some sort of change to improve the nations health care system. Michelle Obama states that "We don't have a choice. We're spending billions of dollars on preventable diseases, and new health care legislation." Michelle Obama also states that she is trying to improve the fitness in young peoples lives. Obama says that her own two young daughters were not eating right before her husbands election into the white house and it showed in their body mass index. Obamas pediatrician showed her the upscale of the childrens body mass index and it totally suprised her. This event has an effect on everyone. Young people and even adults have to eat right to make sure their living a long healthy life. The health care system will provide people with health care who simply cannot afford it. If this does not happen, then people who don't have the money to pay for their medical bills or medications will be in debt.

A one year old baby boy was stabbed 3 times. His mother, Kristy DeHuff, is the one that did this. This previous Friday is when this happened. They lived in Commerce Township and the baby was rushed to Huron Valley Sinai Hospital. It is said that the family was in the car getting ready to leave when Kristy said she needed something from the house. When she went back to the house she took the baby with her. After a few minutes her husband came in the house and saw her stabbing the baby with a butcher knife. At first he was rushed to Huron Valley Sinai hospital but was then airlifted to the University of Michigan for surgery. As of now the baby is stable and is in Pediatric Intensive Care at University of Michigan.
This event has made it clear to me that there are all kinds of dangerous people. It always seems like i hear these kinds of stories, but they are nowhere near where i live. This event happened in Commerce Township, which is very close to where i live. This event has made me realize that my community isn't perfect. I have realized that i still need to be cautious of places i go.

The popular rapper, Lil' Wayne, recieved his jail sentence today. But according to the article "Lil' Wayne's Jail Time: All Part of the Plan", by Donnell Alexander, there may be a hidden surprise behind him going to jail. It seems as though based on popularity and money, rappers are competing to commit the most crimes and land themselves in jail. The popularity that the rappers recieve while in jail is higher then the popularity recieved outside of jail. Alexander tells how Lil' Wayne's new albums will help him to succeed more when he is in jail. This is true in our lives at school. People try to compete to make the biggest event at school. The next big drama will add to your popularity.

In the article "The government has your baby's DNA", a babys DNA has been kept by the government without notification of the babys parents. The childs DNA was tested because she was thought to have carried a gene that was found in people who have cystic fibrosis, but the parents wondered how the pediatrician knew that.Newborn babies in the United States are routinely screened for a panel of genetic diseases. Since the testing is mandated by the government, it's often done without the parents' consent. This event makes me wonder what else the government is hididng from us, and could they take my DNA the next time i go to the doctors without even telling me?

Toyota has been going through some hard times lately. Last week, there was a report of how the gas pedal of over 7 of their models was defected. Over 1000 people died from this. Today, Toyota recalled 6 models sold last year today. This is huge. This will affect my community by having peoples life in danger if they own a Toyota. This also helps american business because people might not trust Toyota and will buy american again.

Some people are known for being naturally smart but this kid takes this to a new level. His name is Alex Jaeger and he completed highschool at a very young age and is now entering collge at the age of 10. He finished grades in a matter of weeks scoring a 23 on his ACT which the average is 21. Alex is someone who other kids can look up to and work as hard as he did to get ahead. Attending college he will influence a lot of people. Many people will look up to him in his community and at the colldege he is attending. This will change the way a lot of people look at educational systems and it will show that anyone can do it. This will also give other to work as hard as they can to achieve what they are capable of and not stopping at anything. What this kid accomplished a big deal in the educational system.

This week, the U.S census bureau is counting city populations to estimate the amount of federal funds that will be given out to communities across the country. The census initiative, a VERY important survey, is actually being kicked off by the residents of Wayne County due to earlier years of under counting. In 2000 it was estimated that the population of Wayne County had been undercounted by 12% causing the city to lose $10,000 every year for each person that wasn't counted.
This Census Initiative can greatly affect the federal funds given to our city and the well being of our residents.

The event that I chose to write about would be "Man Walks Into Wal-Mart, Smashes 29 TVs With Bat." A 23 year old man walked into Wal-Mart, grabbed a bat from the sporting good section, and then smashe 29 TVs. The article didn't say they discovered why this man did this but just knowing that there are people like this in the world makes me nervous. If people are this crazy, I would be afraid ory child to ever be b themselves somewhere because Thai person could hurt somebody. This man isn't that only person in this world that is potentially dangerous and this is a dangerous environment for anybody.

Nodar Kumaritashvili died during practicing for the olimpics. His death was very tragic, the day before he dies, he told his father that he was terrified of the track at the Whistler Sliding Center. As he was going down the track we was about 10 feet away from the finish line and him and his sled went up over the track and went from 90mph to a dead stop into the steal pole. This tragic death has effected many people. i feel that poeple might be more skeptic of Lugeing now.
