Day 14

As we conclude watching this movie it is evident that under the appropriate circumstances one can change initial perceptions while others still only see what they want to see. Interesting that upon learning the truth about the accident with Mr. McLean that even Charles may initially rethink his position on his "friend."

Why do you think Charles is able to change his perceptions in regards to McLeod while others did not? What did he see that others refused to see? How does the actions of the town make McLeod have to rethink his own perceptions of the town he is living in? Finally, how does this movie make you think about how you create perceptions or deal with social injustice in your own life?

Charles is able to change his perception of McLeod because he gets to know him as a person. While the others only know him through rumor and thoughts they don't know who he really is. Charles got to see McLeod's personality and how he acted. This makes Charles realize that he wasn't a bad person at all just falsely accused. McLeod changes his perception of the town during all of the actions the town makes because he realizes how they are acting. He thinks that they see him as a threat. He thinks this because they start to question him and the shop owner closes so that he cannot get his food unless he comes it on the regular hours. This movie is makeing me think really hard about how bad social injustice is in a community. It will make you judge people you don't even know, you may judge them the right way but if you don't then you don't get to know that person. If everyone stops judgeing people as severe and gets to know them the world will be a better place.

Charles was able to change his perception of McLeod when others didn't probably because everybody else was believing this bad thing about him so Charlie thought if everyone else thinks it, maybe it's true, even thought McLeod showed no evidence of being this way throughout their friendship. Charlie looked past McLeod's scars and saw a great teacher and friend. Once he got to know him, he realiezed he was nothing he thought he was. The actions of the town made McLead rethink being able to live in peace. He probably thought about most likely not being able o live anywhere in peace because he isn't isn't going to be totally accepted anywhere he goes. This movies make me think about how I create perceptions. I am not one to judge by appearence but it always happens sometimes like I wouldn't know what to think if I looked in a car window and saw McLeod. There also isn't a perfect way to deal with social injustice. There will be racists and people who are prejudice but we cannot change everyones perceptions. We can just change ours.

Charles sees Mcleod as a person tutor and friend. Others see him as a freaky child molester. Charles can see this because he actualy spent time with him and tohers didn't they just heard rumors. The people in the town this he is molesting charles but they don't know that he is tutoring him. They other beleive this because of the past faulse accusation of the car crash and the little boy that was very similar to charles. The towns people see him as a threat to them. The movie Made me see not to believe rumors but to just make friends with the person to see wht they really are about and not be afraid of these just because of some rumors.

I believe that Chuck doesn't believe all of the rumors about Mr. McLeod because he understands him better than other people. The other people in the town believe that he "abused" the other boy in the car accident, but Chuck can see around the rumors. Because Chuck took the time to actually get to know Mr. McLeod, and didn't perceive him the same way everyone else did, Mr. McLeod opened up to Chuck as well. So much stuff was being said about Mr. McLeod and it wasn't even true, if people would have just taken the time to get to know him, and get to know the whole story, they would have realized that all these stories about him actually weren't true.

I definitely think that the reactions of the town made McLeod re-think his perceptions of the town. I mean, McLeod moved away from everything in his old life to move to this little town and start over, without the hatred and discrimination of the life he left behind.

I think Charles is able to see what Mr. McLeod is really like because Charles actually got to know him for who he was and not just what everyone thought of him. Other people didn't see that he was helpful, considerate, and kind. Everyone just saw and judged him as what they heard instead of getting to know him. McLeod went to that town because thats where he could get away. It was where he was left alone and it would be quiet. I think McLeods perceptions of the town change greatly because now everyones starting to see him as something he's not. This movie makes me think that creating perceptions is an everyday thing. I know, myself that I create perceptions. But I know its wrong and that I should truly get to know someone before I judge them as something their not.

I think that Charles is able to change his perception of Mr. McLeod when others didn't is because Mr. McLeod did not fit in with the rest of the town and mostly stayed alone at his house. Charles on the other hand also doesn't really fit in with the people around him. And going by People with common traits attract to other people with the same trait. So it is easy to assume that mostly Charles becomes attached to Mr. McLeod because they share being the odd ones out. Mr. McLeod changes his perception of the town because they see him as a freak and are treating him differently because of it. The town starts acting Irrationally because of Charles going to see him to be tutored. This movie so far has showed me not to judge people by the way they look and to get to know them before treating them like they aren't people like me. If people were to stop judging people who are different and accept them as being a person just like them, The world would be a very different place.

I think Charles is able to change is perception because he spends time with Mcleod. Charles really gets to know him and McLeod becomes his friend that he can trust. He saw the man behind the scars that everyone else refused to see. The town is scared of him. They all think that he is a bad person and that he killed a student he had before. McLeod thought that the town understood that he isn't a bad person. When they start to question him about Charles McLeod starts to think that the town really doesn't understand him. This movie makes me think that i judge people to easily. Usually i judge people by how they look. After seeing this movie i realized that some people can be very cool, even if they look different than normal.

charles gets to change his perceptions on mcleod because he gets to learn how he really is and what a ice guy he is while other refuse to see that because they only wanting to hear watever they wanna hear. charles just noticed that mcleod is a giving guy who is falsley accused ofbeing a malester which charles refuses to beleive because he knows he wouldnt do that, then after that happen the word got around town that he was studding with mcleod and the old people said that theyre gonna have to start closing up earlier because wat they say is that there getting to old to stay up late but there realy doing that because his was accused of malesting charles but he didnt.

I think Charles is able to change his perceptions of Mr.McLeod because he spent time with him and learned hes not a bad person just because of whats happened to him. While others, have not gotten to know him. He saw the real McLeod and who he really is where others simply refused to see that. McLeod has to rethink his perceptions of the town he is living in because of the problems he has with Charles and them thinking he assalted him. This movie makes me think about the perceptions we create and the social injustices in my own life because everyone is related to Mr.McLeod in a way, except we all try our best to fit in. That way we feel accepted by society. But everyone is different and we all make assumptions based on what the people wear, look like, and who they spend their time with.

I think Charles gave Mr. McLeod a chance before judging him and listening to the rumors. Others just automatically assumed thing about him because of his appearance. The others refused to see the real him. They refused to see his honesty and his kindness. The actions of the town were harsh. An example is when the couple who owned the grocery store quite allowing him to shop after hours. By doing that originally they were helping him to dodge to stares and whispers of the public but suddenly took that away. This made him realize that everyone in his town was the same. They all stood up against him. This movie is exactly like our world and society today. We hear rumors or see something different and we don't accept it. Just because he's different. This movie shows that difference isn't a bad thing but we treat it as if it's the worst.

In the movie most people just assume Mr.McLeod is a bad person. Charles on the other hand got to know Mr.McLeod as a person which is why he was able to change his perception of him. The others couldnt change their perception because they were only seeing the surface instead of getting to know him. Charles saw that Mr.Mcleod was a good person and just wants to help kids learn because he is a teacher. Mr.McLeod has to rethink his perception of the town with all the action that has taken place. He realizes that most of the town believes he is a threat because of the way he was accused in the past. This movie makes me think about how i create perceptions in my own life because you shouldnt judge people from what you hear or what they look like. In reality you should get to know the person before you come to an assumption.

I think Charles was able to change his perceptions of Mr. McLeod while others did not because he looked beyond what others saw and actaully got to know him. What he saw was the true Mr. McLeod, not just the scars on his face and the rumors all the towns people believed. Mr. McLeod rethinks about the town because they are trying very hard to convice Charles about things they think he has done, even though he has not. He must also think the town must be very convinced about what they think he did because they got Charles, who knows him better than anyone, to believe these rumors. If i were him i would leave and not ever want to come back. This movie makes me think about perceptions that they can be really bad and hurtful to someone if they find out what people really think of them just by their appearance and rumors they have heard.

i think that charles is able to change his percepiton on mr.McCloud because he saw the friend in him not an abuser . Charles, like any young boy dont judge people strickly on there apreance so as he started to have fun with him he said 'i dont even notice your scars anymore' because he saw Mr.Mcloud as the person he really is.At first he did judge because he followed what his friends said and did. i think that the others refused to see him as a nice person because of what the jury said when he was accused of being a murderer. once accused to murder he was sent to jail and once he got out he then moved and put himself in solittude so the town would stop making fun of him and not bother him.when people usually move to a place of solitude they move to escape something like media, or their past when people move because of there past i think that they just are scared of what people will think or what they already think wich is one big social injustice we face today. this is how people see the good the bad and how others overall se them for their aperance

Charles is able to change his perception on mr McLeod because he has spent time with him and sees what other people dont. Charlie sees whats on the inside not only the outside. He saw that Mcleod has feeling to and wawnts to be a part of society but he cant because of the rumors that were spread about him. At first he didnt mind that he was livinng in solitude but then after the incident with Charles he found out that he cant handle it anymore. He also almost commited suicide. It makes me think abou social injustices because they might be different on the inside. It makes you wawnt to get to know someone better for who they are.

Charles was able to change his perception of McLeod because he actually knew him as the person he really is. The others didn't waste their time to figure out what the truth about McLeod really was. He saw the person under the scars. The person that was kind and caring for other people. The actions of the town make McLeod lose respect for the town because they are going against past events to try and hurt him. This movie helps me realize that some kids that you think are weird, could be some of the coolest kids you will meet.

Charles sees things in Mr. McLeod that others don't. Charles has seen the true man hidden behind his features that others are blinded to. Others refuse to see past McLeod's corrupted past and misunderstandings. But Charles's view of McLeod weren't tainted with lies and what peoples perceptions of what happened to McLeod so he was able to see the truth better than the rest of the town. And Mr. McLeod even had to rethink his perceptions of the town because McLeod realized when the whole town was so quick to turn away from him that they really weren't as understanding as he thought.
This movie made me realize how certain variables can effect the perceptions i create. If i don't know someone and can only rely on my judgement then my perceptions can easily come to the truth. But, if I had some information or other perceptions about this person given to me prior to meeting them, then my perceptions will have been tainted with the views of others rather than just my own and may be harder to convince.

chuck was able to change his perception of mcleod because he new from first hand experience that he was a nice guy. wile others have to go by nasty roomers, and his scary appearance so they will always think wors of him. he saw that beneath the scars, and the roomers he was realy a great person wile others couldent. when mel saw what others were thinking of him he felt anger because they thought so badly of him from things that arnt true. he probly also felt petty that people are so blinded by such stooped things like appearance and rumors. this movie will help me look past looks and see the real thing.
