We began watching "A Man Without a Face." We saw early on how perceptions are created. What is Charles'(main kid) reaction to seeing the Mel Gibson character? What are others' reaction? Why are they reacting this way to him? What is the perception created of Charles by you based on what we have seen so far? How do we, as people create perceptions and why is it important that we do?
If you were not here, I would go to Hulu and find this movie. We watched the first 40 minutes.

When Mel Gibson's character was first introduced I was super freaked out. His face was all distorted and kind of repulsing. He seems though, that he means no harm and that he genuinely wants to help Chuck. Other people are very perplexed by his character, no one ever see's him and people just have to guess about what he's really like. This is similar to the situation in "To Kill a Mocking Bird", where no one really see's Boo Radley and make up stories, and gossip about what he's really like. I think that Chuck is a funny character, he tells Mr. McLeod about how much he hates writing, but ironically he has a good writers imagination. His mother always talks about how he is always off in his own little world, daydreaming. The opening scene to "A Man Without A Face" captures the essence of Chuck's character, his life up to this point in time has pushed writing out of him and he doesn't even know it.
The movie "A Man Without a Face" shows how false perceptions can be made due to simple misunderstandings. Early on, Charles percieved the Mel Gibson character as a scary and mysterious man. The towns reactions towards this man are threatened and suspicious. These reactions are all created because they dont understand him or his past. I view Charles as a boy who knows what he wants, but doesnt want to do the work needed to be done in order to get there. Although he has progressively become more open-minded with his teachers techniques. We create perceptions based upon appearance, and who you associate yourself with. Making judgements can be important in protecting yourself or surrounding yourself with postivie influences. Perceptions can have both positive and negative effects.
Charles reaction to Mel Gibson's character is kinda scared. He looks at his face and feels frightened. Others reactions are the same. Because they do not know what to think of him. They make assumsions about him from the start and they do not get to know him. They are reacting this way because of how his face looks. One side of his face is all scared up. I see Charles as a kid who knows what he wants. He has a plan set for himself. Aslo I think that Charles is a little shy. Plus he thinks that he is an outsider. We create perceptions by how people act around other people. Sometimes people try to get and know one another. Sometimes they do not. It is important that we create perceptions. This is because it creates a catagory for people to belong to.
Charles' perception of the Mel Gibson character from "A Man Without a Face" would be scared at first when je saw him brought his car window. He was just seeing the outside of Gibsons character. I believe that he thought there was more to him after he thought about it and heard all of the nasty rumors. He wanted to give him a chance. Other peoples reaction his charcter would be that he is scary and sort of a weirdo. They make up all these rumors like he killed his girlfriend or boyfriend and things that are most likely far from the truth. They made all these assumptions just by the way he looks. They also think he is strange for keeping to himself in his home but that's probably because he would get treated badly if he left his home. My perception of Charles from what I have seen so far would be that his is not really misunderstood but misses his father and wants to go to aboarding school his dada was once at. I think he is very capable of doing great things but needs someone there to encourage him which his mother and sisters are not doing. We as people create perceptions mostly on looks which is horrible but how it is. It is important to have perceptions because that I how we get ideas about good and bad people. It may give us some insight into who they are.

Charles reaction to seeing Mel Gibson's character is he was scared. When Charles looked at his face, he was surprised to see what was there. All the other kids percepted him as being scary just because of what he looked like. He can't help what happened. Some accidents just happen and now because of that everyone sees him as being scary. I think everyone is reacting to him this way because they don't really know him, but they are judging him by the way he looks. I think Charles has judged him from the beginning but once he actually met him and got to see what he was like, he judged him in a different way. People always create perceptions on the way people look before they even start to know them. It's important that we create perceptions before because sometimes people need an idea what people are like at the beginning before actually starting to know someone.
when the kid first saw the Mel Gibson character he seems shocked and disgusted. the other people reacted the same exact way and called him names and seemed disgusted. They react like this to him because his face is all scarred up on one side. I see in Charles that he is a smart boy that knows what he is going to do with his life but lacks the confidence to do it. also he does try to get submitted into the school by working hard and studying. i think that it is important to create perceptions of people because then we know what to expect if or once we meet them. that is why we should all make perceptions but leave a little thought room just in case we are wrong about that person.
Charles' reaction to seeing the Mel Gibson character is that he is freaked out and very surprised. He's heard of this man but I don't think he's ever seen the other side of his face. Others' reactions are that they are creeped out and I also believe they are all very curious. I think people react to him this way because they are scared of him. No one's ever talked to him before and they use his face as an excuse not to talk to him. To me, Charles seems like a nice genuine kid. He is very curious because behind coming to the man for help on an exam he has to take, I think he really just wants to comfort this man and figure out his story. Charles is alone in the world with no one who truly understands him because his father is dead and his mom doesn't seem like she cares and so he just wants to be the man's friend. We as people create perceptions based on outside information we hear from our friends and peers and just by using observation skills. It is important that we do because if we didn't, then you would almost know everything about everyone and you wouldn't get to get out of your comfort zone and get to know new people. By making perceptions we can prove ourselves wrong and it makes us stronger as people.
Charles' reaction to Mel Gibson's character was shocked and very unsure. Other people don't really have too big of a reaction to this character. They don't really see him so they've all just created different perceptions about him.I think Charles' is slightly judgmental but he knows who to accept and when to accept them. As people, we create perceptions often times by a first glance at somebody. In reality, we are all very judgmental and I don't that changing in our society any time soon.
When the kid saw Mel Gibson he was initially very shocked and scared. He was kinda freaky looking but it seems that he wants to help out the kid not hurt him. No one else in the movie has seen Mel Gibson so they all just kinda make up what they think he looks like. These assumptions are made about him because nobody really understands him and what he is about. People always create perceptions about people by their appearance and their actions. If you don't make these perceptions you will usually end up get screwed over by someone you trusted that you probably should have avoided. Perceptions are a big part of this movie and everyday life.
In the movie "A Man Without a Face", everyone perceived Mel Gibsons character as a freak or an outsider. They would take one look at him and instinctively shy away from him because of how deformed his face is. Charles, on the other hand, reacted in a similar way, yet different from how the others reacted. Most people would be frightened and run from Gibson but Chuck didn't run. He was frightened, sure, but its almost as if Charles could see past his deformed figure to the man he really is or used to be.
Based on what we have seen so far, Charles seems like a misunderstood kid. He wants to be smart like his siblings, but the constant degrading and belittling from his siblings causes him to lash out and misbehave because hes lost hope and its the only way he sees he can fit into society. Also, it seems Charles has an open mind. When he meets Gibson's character he doesn't run because hes scary looking, hes curious. To him, Gibson is a mystery to be revealed.
Perceptions, to us, is a way of in our own minds understanding the lifestyles and behaviors of others. Perceptions answer the question of "why?". Why does this person do this? Why do they act like that? Why do they think differently from me? Perceptions help us understand each other.
When charlie sees the Mel Gibson character i think he is shocked and a little scared. Other people in the town think he is mean. They call him names like meat head or pizza face. Charlie is with a bunch of boys and he tells them that his face is gross and that his dog is the dog from hell. I think everyone reacts this way to him because he looks way different from normal people. The Mel Gibson character doesn't talk to people in the town and doesn't like to be around people. After a while i think Charles is still scared of him, but he stays around him because he thinks he could help him. People create perceptions by first impressions or by the way other people act. Its important that we create perceptions so that there is variety among people.
The reaction Chuck had after seeing Mel Gibson's character was terrified. I think that he was also a little suspicious of how his face got like that. The others reacted the same way. A few of the others thought he was a murderer. Everyone is reacting this way because he lives in his house and almost never comes out. He also The perception that I have made of chuck is that he really wants to move out and join the air force. To do this he has to get tutored and become really smart. This shows me that he is devoted to becomeing a piolet. We crate perceptions to see how people are that we don't know. One way it is important that we crate perceptions is because if we see a weird person lurking around we want to stay away from him because who knows he might be a rapest.
the first time charles saw mel he freaked out. he freaked out because he is scary looking with his scared up face. and because what everyone says about him. every body els is kinda freaked out by him to and thinks hes evil and stuff. charls sems like a kid who feals misunderstood by his family and wants to show them what he can realy do. he also seams like a dreamer who wants to do somthing big with his life. everybody creats perseptions by what they see and hear. they base these of other things they hear and learn to creat there perceptions of people and things. it is important we do this because if we didnt we might get in a car with a very creepy looking guy and get murdered because we didnt make the canection between creepy looking guy and murderer.
The reaction on charles tword the man with no face was shocked and speachless. The others think of him as a freak. They think this way because some say he is a cannable. He never is seen out of his house. I think charles is a mistake in the family. Also hes a really big brat. We creat perceptions based on impressions and reactions. If someone smokes weed and you don't then generally you wont hang out with them.

This movie called "A Man Without A Face" seems to demonstrate how people can create misleading perceptions. Charles viewed Mel Gibson as someone who is full of wonder and mystery. The people who lived in this area perceived Gibson as an odd, scary, threatening person. All of these thoughts are brought up by these people because they don't understand Gibson's past or what he went through in his years. It seems as if Charles knows what he wants out of life, but has no clue how to achieve it. However, he seems to learn how to act more properly along the way. We as young thinking people create perceptions through how someone appears and natural judgments. Making perceptions of others is an impulsive way to protect our own confidence, and ease our minds. We all want to know what we are dealing with and what surrounds us. Overall perceptions need to be made carefully for the fact that people aren't always what they seem to be.

Charle's reaction to seeing Mel Gibson's character at first was that he was terrified. He seemed a little hesitant though to run away so maybe it was just that he was curious. Other people's reaction was just that he is a freak! He is an outcast in society simply because of what is on his face. To me, Charles seems like a curious kid who is really striving to succeed. He also seems very open to people other then the people who have led him to not like them, such as his step sister. As people we create perceptions based on our first encounter with someone. This is good because it helps us to build up our instincts as to weather or not trust this person.
Charles had a typical reaction after seeing Mel Gibsons characters face. He was scared because all he saw was a distorted, scarred face. Others tend to judge him by his apprearance, not really getting to know him. They dont know his past, and they view him as myterious in a way. As people, we often create perceptions of people by how they look and act. It is important that we do because it leaves room for us to see that not everyone is always the same as how we view them.
When Charles saw Mel Gibson's character he seemed frightened because of Gibson's face. The man who went to the officer and reported Gibson as being the man in the picture, seemed indifferent and judgemental in the sense that he was creating a negative perseption of Gibson. They are reacting to him this way because he looks different then everyone else. My perception of Charles is simpathetic because as a third person point of view I can see the people judging him and I feel bad. We create perceptions by comparing people to ourselves and what we think is normal. To me, it is not important to make perceptions. I think this because we can get carried away and judge people too far from who they really are.
well in the beggining charleslooked at him and it struck fear in charles eyes, and he percepted him to be a angry funny looking guy, us as people create perceptions by looking at someone and thinking of the first idea that cimes to mind and that is u making a perception of whom u r thinking about that u dont kno. it is important we create perceptions becauseif we didnt we couldnt test our minds to think we kno someone b4 we acctually kno them and it cant suprise us wen we were rong about them.
"A man without a face" is a great movie so far. I love the story line and can't wait to continue tomorrow. Charles thinks Mel is a scary guy who is a freak. The others would agree with him. The only reason that they are reacting this way is because they are young and think that he is weird and creepy. The perception i can get from charles is that he doesnt like him at all and thinks he can't teach. We make perceptions about people all the time by judging. It is important that we do this because we can protect ourselves from people that might/could be dangerous.
What is Charles'(main kid) reaction to seeing the Mel Gibson character?
He freaked out thinking of him as a freak of nature and, with his friends, he liked to call him rude names commenting on his deformed face.
What are others' reaction?
They, like Charles, thought he was a freak and made fun of him.
Why are they reacting this way to him?
Through so far unexplained means the left side of his body was burnt and severally scared.
What is the perception created of Charles by you based on what we have seen so far?
Assuming that that means ‘what’s your opinion of Charles’ although he wants to succeed and go to the same school as his dad, he’s extremely rude to the only person willing to teach him what he needs t do to pass the test to get into the academy.
How do we, as people create perceptions and why is it important that we do?
We create perceptions of ourselves through how we look and act, this is important because it gives other people a first impression of us.
As I was watching "A Man Without a Face", I had many perceptions of Charles and Mel. I think this movie was very interesting and can't wait to continue. Charles' reaction to seeing Mel was like any other young person. Charles was freaked out a little bit, just like I was. The others were just as freaked out as Charles. I think the dog was the reason they were reacting this way. I believe if it wasn't for the dog, the kids would perceive Mel as a different person. I think Charles is a very unique little boy. He wants to learn to get into the boarding school, but he doesn't want to be challenged to get in. We create perceptions all the time, we call it judging. It's important to create perceptions to help protect yourself from shady characters.
Perceptions are created very easily and that is shown in this movie. When Charles sees Mel for the first time he is very suprised and scared because he heard a bunch of rumors about him being crazy and never coming out. The others reactions are that they are very scared because the parents always spread rumors about him. My perception of Charles so far is that he is kind of a brat but is becoming more respectful. Most people create perceptions on what they see on the outside and they normally dont get to know them. This is important because it determines who we hang out with and how we live our life. This is how this movie connects to real life with perception.
*login wasnt working this day*
In the beginning of the movie Mel Gibsons character was introduced. Charles' reaction to seeing him was completely scared. As he saw him out the window he realized there had to be more to this man than what everyone else thinks. Others have the same reaction as charles but instead of realizing there had to be more to him they just assumed the most terrible things. They are all reacting this way because they are only perceiving him from the way he looks on the outside. Based on what i have seen so far i think the perception created by charles is that he is lonely. As people it is important to create perceptions because without creating them we would never have an opinion on anything. Even forming the wrong perception of someone is okay as long as it eventually changes.
