My current event is about how Disney new promotion called "Give a day, get a disney day." If you donate a day to help out the humane society, disney will give you a free ticket to a park of your choice for your donation. This is a great thing because Disney is trying to get people to help out one another in this hardship and people get to enjoy doing a good deed and have a fun time at Disney World. I believe this will be a great promotion for Disney and good for America as well.

Actor and director Kevin smith of "Clerks" and several other films is kicked off an airplane for being "too fat". He was told he was a safety hazard. He was not allowed to catch a flight home on Southwest airlines. It is a rule on Southwest airlines to have to fit within the 17" of space between the arm rests.

I feel bad for Smith. This is sort of prejiduce. I enjoy his films as well which makes me feel more sympathy for that goofball.

It was confirmed today that the lead singer of The Knack, Doug Fieger, has passed away. He has died of Cancer. He was 57 years old. Some of the songs that he helped make famous are "My Sharona," "Good Girls Don't," and "Banana Man." His brother, Geoffrey, just confirmed it today. This affects my life because I have heard some of the songs by The Knack. Rest in peace Doug Fieger. He shall be missed by many.

Senator Evan BayhEvan Bayh announced that he won’t be seeking another term on the congress as he is fed up of it. Even Bayh was on the President Obama’s Vice Presidential Prospective list in the year 2008 and he made the quit a few hours ago. Evan Bayh claimed that he loved working for the people of Indiana with his heart but he does not love the Congress and thus would not want to continue being on the senate. The decision seemed to have sprung from the bitter partisan divides that have consumed the congress over the past period. Evan Bayh was confident that he would have been reelected in November but that he did not wish to continue to serve the society while being a part of the Congress. He said he wanted to make an impact in other ways: possibly teach, start a business and generate employment or run a charity.

Recently Cpl. Jacob H. Turbett, a 21 year old male from Canton Twp., died in Afghanistan over the weekend. No details have been let out about his death but they are soon to come. I think that this is a huge tradgedy. In our tought economy, the last thing people want to hear about is people dieing in a war. People, such as me, do not agree with the war in the first place and this is adding to my flame on how much i still don't like the war. I can personally connect with the man's family because I have gone through many loses of family members too. I hope that the President and many more people realize how heartbreaking this is and end the war soon.

My current event is "luge accident forces track change, angers some athletes." Since the tragic death of Nodar Kumaritaashvili during a practice run prior to the start of the 2010 Olympic opening ceremonies. They want to put some new things on the track to make it safer like adding a reataining wall. Plus also padded exposed metal pillars. I think this will be a good thing. This tragic death was totally a freak accident. Those added parts could help if something like that would ever occur again. It could help save lives.

My current event that I chose to write about would be that the former speaker of the Michigan house Craig DeRoche got arrested for drunk driving. The police say he was so drunk that he could barely stand up on his own. His blood alcohol level was three times over the legal limit also. It has not been decided if he is going to be charged yet. This bothers me because any normal person that may not have been a government person would probably get charged without a thought. I feel he may be getting acceptance and treated better because of his former position. I also feel uncomfortable knowing that somebody who would drink and drive could be trusted with a government job that deals with our lives. It seems, like Kuame, these things may happen alot and their character should be judged more before they are given the position.

The modern day worlds holds many means of transportation one way can be by train. trains are the safest means of transportation but every machine has its faults. Feb 15, at 8:30am two Belgian passenger trains have a head on collision killing 18 people. The company believes that it was a computer glitch that caused the navigator to be mislead. this could effect many people over in Europe due to the face that trains are there main transportation. this could effect the U.S because most people don't want to ride trains thinking in the back of there minds something will go wrong. this could decrease the subways cash flow and add on to the recession we are having.

On Thursday, former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick sent a notion to the courts stating, yet again, that he can not pay revised court ordered restitution payments. These payments, ordered on January 20 after a 6 day hearing, included the payments of $79,000 in a 30 day period and $240,000 in a 90 day period. Since Kwame agreed to the payment of 1 million dollars to the city of Detroit, Kwame's monthly payments have been decreasing in amount significantly and still Kwame states he can not make the payments.
Of Course this is a very large amount of money but first of all, Kwame did extreme damage to the propriety and foundation of this city's political system. During Kwame's terms, corruption, dishonestly, exploitation, and extortion has falling on the city of Detroit. Secondly, it seems to many officials that Kwame is trying to hide his real wealth. If he couldn't afford to pay off his restitution then why, might i ask, is there proof of him and his wife spending large amounts of money on luxury items and living in mini-mansions? Kwame does not have to proof to back up his own claims. He is making a complete fool out of himslef and further ruining his already despised reputation. This whole issue has gone on FAR too long. It has become a waste of time and just down right annoying.
All i have to say is Kwame, don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

The twenty one year old Georgian luge slider, Nodar Kumaritashvili, was killed in practice for the Olympics. He crashed into a metal pole moving faster than 90 miles per hour. The International Luge Federation concluded that his death was not triggered based on problems with the track, however, it was because of Kumaritashvili's driving deficiencies. The Interational Luge Federation is adding two additional saftey measures. The wall near the end of the curve 16, where Kumaritashvili crashed will be raised up to prevent anymore fly outs. Curve 16 is also being changed to be less sharp. Both the men and women will be starting lower on the track. Men will take the women's place.

A lot of people watch the Olympics. Well, this winter during the 2010 Winter Olympics a man died. Nodar Kumaritashvili was a luger who hoped to make his Olympic dreams come true. This 21 year old luge athlete died Friday morning on the Luge track at Whistler. He was on a practice run and the crash occurred at Thunderbird Curve, the 16th curve and also the fastest. The crash started as he came out of a tunnel on the track. He smashed into the top of the tunnel and that sent him moving across the track where his sled met the lip of the track and he was flown from his sled into a metal pylon. Rescue workers rushed to Kumaritashvili but were unable to revive him, later at a hospital he was declared dead.
I think this is kind of scary. It shows how dangerous this sport can be. I had been watching the Winter Olympics and seen the Luge. I just thought it was easy and not that challenging. After i heard that this guy died it gave me a new perspective on the sport.

A 13 year old boy named Kieshawn Mann shot his mother's finance. He has been charged with premeditated murder allegedly shooting Jermelle Stokes at point-blank range as the man was using the computer. Although the boy says that the shooting was an accident, police say that the finger was on the trigger when the gun was shot. his 12 year old friend said that Kieshawn asked him to keep the gun in his locker, and later told him that he planned on shooting his mothers fiance because he used to abuse her. I think that this is a horrible situation and murder is not the answer to anything. Expectially because the boy was only 13. He'll have to live with this for the rest of his life.

Recently, Film Director Kevin Smith was pulled off Southwest Airlines because of his size. Southwest Airlines truly apologized two times to Smith. Smith has been posting angry messages on the site Twitter, which he has 1.6 million followers. Smith said, "I know I'm fat. But I had no problem buckling my seat belt and putting down the armrests." Southwest Airlines said that Smith would need two seats to complete his flight with comfort. Smiths goal is to force the way Southwest deals with overweight passengers.

End of the Tiger Woods story? Not so fast. Joslyn James, a porn star, said her and tiger had an affair. Joslyn also said that Tiger and her had unprotected sex. To make the situation worse, Joslyn said Tiger impregnated her twice. She miscarried on her first one and got an abortion on the second one. This affects our community by influencing the public opinion about tiger. I think he made some mistakes but will still be the greatest golfers of all time.

There are new and improved models of 2010 cars that have came out. These new models are meant to work long term. These cars are promised to last alot longer then the average cars. I feel like this will bring a huge improvement in the economy today. Especially for Michigan, the auto capital of the world. These cars will solve any problems you may have with your car dying and frustrating people alot about money. If these cars are sold at a decent price, I'm sure many Americans will be pleased. Check them out at your local auto dealer.

Today in Wall Township, New Jersey a small plane crashed killing all five people on board. The plane was owned by a small company in New Jersey and was returning to the airport with family waiting for the plane to land. A man nearby who witnessed the crash said that the landing gear of the plan was not down but the plane rolled and just tore to pieces as it was coming down. I feel we have plenty of tragedy in our world today and wonder what the reason for this latest tragedy was. I hope the best for the families of the plane victims.
