I feel that living in this time period would have been very rough. You would have had to be able to work your ass off and supply for your family as well as yourself. You would have to be able to suffer any sicknesses of sort and be able to work right through the pain to keep your family together. not only physical strength but mental.

Dear Family,
Work is hard but i am mainting to keep up with it. I would like to apologize to my beautiful wife on behalf of my mistake of having the affair with the hooker. i was full of stress after a hard worked day and needed some fun time. I apologize again. In other news, i have made a decent income and look forward to coming home and feeding my two young boys. Love you all and hope to see you soon.

Mr. Kay,

I believe that there are some positives to living in this time period, but more negatives than positives. Some positives would be that by being a migrant, you go from job to job. So you get familiar with alot of the jobs, so that when needed, you might already know what you need to do. Some negatives would be that it would be really hard to support your family, and or it would be really hard to make time to get a family started because of all the moving around to different jobs.

Dear Family,
I miss you all so much. Work is getting harder by the minute. I've been moving around from job to job, nothing seems to be going steady. Its a hard time right now, with trying to fnd a decent job and trying to remane calm what with all the pressure on my sholders. I hope to be back to you soon. My sincierest regardes to my children, husband, and brother. I miss you all so much. Please be safe. With love. Danielle

Mr.Kay,
Being a migrant worker you get to meet alot of new people. I think this is one of the positives. Another would be the time you get to spend with yourself and possibly family members. As for the negitives, you never really get to settle down. You are constently leaving your friends and memories behind you.

Dearest loved ones,
Work is tough and days are long. Not meaning to sound deppressed but sometimes i don't know where home might be sometimes. I know thats not fair to the family depending on me and waiting for me to come back, but mile after mile i'm more and more lost. So far though, i have made decent money, enough to help out you all. Anyway, i just thought i would put in a good write before another job comes rolling my way!
With bundles of Love,
Brittney

When discussing the great depression it seems as everything is negative. For a migrant worker it must of been even harder, trying to maintain a job and feeding your family. Also you would always have to worry about shelter and preventing sickness. On the other hand their are always positves. You get to meet new people constantly and you would never get bored becuse almost everyday you start a new job.

Dear Family,
I miss you guys a lot, and everyday i think about you guys. Times are tough out here but I will do whatever it takes. I am trying to stay at this job as long as I can but I think i may have to move again soon. I hope that you kids are doing good in school, and son you need to take good care of your mother while i am gone. I hope to be home soon but god knows when things will get better. I love you guys and I hope to see you soon.

I think that living through this time would be very hard and tough. Some positives are you get to go on a huge adventure with chances to earn some money. However there are probably more negatives. A few are you have to leave your family and might not ever see them again. Plus it could just be for nothing because you might not have a job oppurtunity and worse you could die along the way.

Dear Family,
This adventure is crazy. Work is way harder then i thought and harder to get. But i did meet some new people here that are nice and cool. The days here seem to take forever but in the end it is worth it. At night me and some friends play some cards for entertainment. My life has really changed since i have become a migrant worker but i think it is for the good. Hope to see you all sone.

I think that lving as a migrant would be very difficult. I couldnt even imagine running around all the time according to my employment. It would be really hard to live life with no stability, or sense of security through your life.

Dear Family,

I am working very hard lately. Work is very rare and hard to find in these times, seeing that everyone else is doing what I am also. So, I really miss my little boys and am excited to bring them back some new hunting rifles with the money that I have made with my work. I miss you guys so dearly, but when I get back, we will have a whole new life.

Love your dad and husband,

In my opinion, living during the great depression would have been very tough. 99% of the jobs would have been horrible and have awful working conditions. Getting seriously injured or sick could put a real damper on feeding your family and surviving.

Dear Family,
I miss all of you so much. Working conditions are awful and all this hard labor is really taking its toll. Jobs are so hard to come by in most towns. Moving from town to town gets really exhausting. I am trying to keep my job at the slaughter house but things aren't looking so good. At times its hard to keep your hopes up but I am trying to stay positive and am hoping for the best. Hope to be comin home soon!!!

Not only American countries but most of countries in this world are having immensely harsh economic problems. Since, and, it's self-evident that getting a job in such an economic recession is really difficult, migrant workers are under further disadvantages this time, such as racial, cultural discrimination. However, if you ask me to say one positive thing about living as a migrant worker during this era, I would say, at least from their point of view, they can reduce the unemployment in their home country and expect the rehabiliation of economy.

Lovely my family,
It's been 6 month since I came to America. Neither you nor I thought this economy would be dipped in a 'recession' mud for so long time. The mood at work place is rough as much as the outside. They sometimes just get mad at me, though I'd done nothing wrong. And it's not a joke, especially when I'm on a street, walking through people who don't have job, and recognize my different color of skin and starting to feel their sights. But you know what? I'm doing fine, still! 'Cause I have hope. Hope this dark time will be gone one day, and I'll be even able to invite all of you to my home and even get married!! I'll write you soon time again, and take care. Love you. Bye.

Derek g said...

Well, the positives are you get to see new places and get new starts. That's all there is really. If you DO get a job you can't have a guarantee that the job will be stable. The economy is crap, if anyone read "into the jungle"(Everyone) the work conditions might be the same(AKA suckiness if the fact your fingers might not come back). For a good 15 mins, I've been trying to weave a story for the whole letter thing and this is what I got:

"GREETINGS FROM NEW MEXICO

Well unfortunately for the time being I'm most likely out of New Mexico. It's strange, travel is great out here, I have seen many great sights as the road grows further and further. I took a small job for gas as a servicer at a gas station. Someone told me the grape-picking jobs might have evaporated as time grows. I am conflicted with such words. For if the job is gone, my travel will be all for naught, however I won't be stung by bees or the sun for hours on end.

My next letter will have a greeting from California"

Bah, I tried

The positives to being a migrant working during the great depression is not having to worry about much. Sure you still have to worry about things such as your family if you have one. If you are all by yourself all you have to do is go from place to place building up money as you go along. Also hope that you don't get robbed or lose any of your money. The negatives is it could be a major mental hassle going from place to place. Also having to say good by all your friends that you may make along the way.

Dear family
I am working hard at the time to be able to support you. I know it is not that much of work but its better then nothing. I want to come home and visit and see you all but we need some kind of money to get. The work is tremendously back breaking and the hours are long.

Well the negatives are big. Work is very hard to find during these times. If you manage to find some, do all you can to keep it. You will have to survive off of simple things. Life would be tough enough with yourself. Having a family would be terible. Starvation would result in death and illness. There would be extreme stress flowing from everyone. I can't even think of a positive.

Dear family,
Work is getting scarce, and times are tough. I have been to almost every possible state for work. I have been fired multiple times through business failers. Income is weak and the best I can do is steal. I'm in process of getting a new job with a few nice guys I met previously. I'm not to sure what else to write when I'm this worried. I will keep you updated though.

Being a migrant worker most certainly has its ups and downs. Some positives to being a migrant worker are you have very much freedom. You have the opportunities to go where you please without and constraints. Another positive is being able to explore new things that you have never seen before. However there is a down side. One negative to this is being away from your family. They aren't there to support you. Another negative is not knowing where you have to or where you're going to go next.

Dear Family,
I have landed another job for myself earning a better wage than I previously was. It is some tough labor that I struggle to keep up with. I miss you guys because when I was at home things were much easier. I'm on my way to go even further West. I am forced to work hard without too much breaks. However I am learning newer and cooler things. I am also seeing scenery and many other things that I have never seen before at our home. I hope to be back soon to see you. Wish me luck!

I think some positives of being a migrant worker is that you get to travel. For negatives I think they don't see their family all the time. Another is working all the time. To make sure there family is fed and have a roof over there heads.

Dear Family,
I am having a really hard time right now with the depression going on. I just want to take the time to tell you all that I miss you and I can't wait to see you again. Hopefully, the depression will be over soon because I want to come back home. Also, I made enough money to send that would be able to feed the whole family. Well see you soon.

I think that living as a migrant has a lot more negative than positives. Being a migrant means you have to leave your family. Another negative is that you don't have any security in any work that you do, Eventually you know the job will end and you will have to travel again, say goodbye to what you know again, only to later be fired. On top of all that being a migrant worker more than likely means you pretty poor and your only making enough money for the necessities. Some positives of being a migrant are the adventure. You get to travel from place to place seeing different parts of the world and experiencing surprise after another. Being a migrant worker you can meet hundreds of new people. And i also think that there is a different sense of freedom that you have moving from place to place knowing theres nothing holding you there.

Dear Family,
I'm sorry it has been so long since i last wrote, i have just been very busy. Its hard to find the time to stop and write because I'm always searching for new jobs, so i can come back home and support my family. I have meet many new people through out my journey, but none compare to my family. I hope to earn enough money to come home soon.

There are many up and downs in being a migrant worker. things as you never really can have long good relationships with people because your always on the move looking for jobs. then the opposite is that you meet a lot of new people as you move around on jobs. Having to go places can tire you out also making more susceptible to diseases and cold and others sicknesses. Another down side is when making the money for migrant work you spend it to which doesn't help your family in return.

Dear Family,
Working around the country is hard work i must say. finding rides to go to places and walking mostly is good exercise. i have lost a lot of weight. I hope you are getting all the money i have been sending you. hopefully using it wisely to keep the family going. i unfortunately have come down with a cold i think from walking in the cold this winter. I hope i get over it soon. So i just wanted to say hi and tell you hows it going over here. please write back i think i might be in this job for a little while.

Sincerely,
Robert Keller

I think this time period was very hard to live in. You and to work really hard to get what you wanted. Work hard to pay for your families food and other supplies. Also you would always have to worry about shelter and preventing sickness. A positive would be meeting many new different people while working at different places.

Dear my loving family,
I miss you all so very much. Working in many different places is really hard. I have been moving around a lot. Its getting harder and harder everyday. But I'm happy to help supply for the family. As well and moving around from job to job im trying to maintain a healthy life, and also looking for just a steady job. I hope i can see you all soon. Best wishes

But some positives to being a migrant you would go from job to job, so you would learn many differnt things. So if you needed to get a job you kinda of have an idea of wat to do.

Dear Family,
It feels like its been forever. Work is hard, and moving from job to job isnt fun. It gets harder and harder everyday. its a hard time right now, trying to fnd a decent job. That time period would have been very stressful. There are a ton of negatives in being a migrant worker during this time, such as you'd probually go hungry a lot, you do not have a stable income, you would be away from your family and you would be moving around a lot. Unfortuanatly there are only a few positives. Such as, you do get to travel around a lot, you experience new things, and that which does not kill you only makes you stronger.

Dear Family,
Times are extremely tough but I want none of you to worry. I got a new job and it's much better than the last five ones. I've been moved around so much that I gave up on memorizing where I am. I believe that I'm a couple miles outside the city. I'm so sorry that this money I've sent along will barely keep you guys fed, but I'm doing the best I can. I miss you all a lot and i hope you all well. Try not to worry, I'm very optamistic that times will be turning around soon.

There are many positives as well as negatives of being a migrant worker in that time period. The first positive is that you get to tour the country. Another positive is that you can possibly get a job, which is why many people become migrant workers. Lastly, another reason is that you can earn more money than you did before. Some negatives are that you may need I leave your family behind. You also may get tired of moving around and you might not even end up finding work. Overall, there are many positives and negatives of being a migrant worker, and it seems like the negatives outweigh the positives.

Dear family,
I have recently found a job in this new town I moved to. It pays higher than my other job so you'll be happy to know that I will be sendig back more money th help you out. My new job as a farmer is working out great. I picked up the hang of it quick and I'm glad this is what I found as work. Overall, I am happy and I am looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings in this adventure. I give all my love and I will hopefully see everyone soon.

Living as a migrant worker back in the day must have been the hardest job ever. Some positives about being a migrant worker is you can have all the freedom you want. You can go wherever you want at any time. Another postive is being able to explore new things, and places around you. But there is also some negatives about being a migrant worker. One is knowing that you probobly wont be staying in that certain place for very long and having to constently move. Also, not being able to see your family, and rarly keeping in touch with your friends.

As we discussed in class there are positives and negatives of being a migrant worker in the great depression. some positives i could think of would be having more adventure into a persons life. the lifestyle of a farmer on his farm and the lifestyle of a migrant worker are very much different. some negatives of being a migrant worker would be leaving your family and going into an unfamiliar territory.

Dear Family,
the life out west is much more fast paced than at home. ive had to compete with many of my fellow workers for jobs. the chance of striking it rich with gold has faded but nonetheless is still there. i will right you again once ive foulnd another steady job.

It would be really hard living in the depression and also even harder as a migrant worker. Moving to the west away from your family can be hard but also sometimes bring good profit. Not all were this lucky. Many had found that they just make enough money to eat and hardly enough money to travel. I guess a positive side to being a migrant worker is that if you dont really like your wife you have an excuse to be away.

Dear family,
I am writing to tell you that I havent struck gold yet. I am currently working on a farm. I really like the rabbits out here, they keep me company. Times are hard for the average worker and i think I will see tougher ahead. I hope to come home soon to see the kids.

Some of the postive aspects of a migrant worker is being able to travel and experience new people and new surroundings. You had the opportunity to earn better wages. Some of the negative of being a migrant worker in this era would be you couldn't settle down and you always had to be ready to move on. You couldn't really feel grounded in your community. Also, you had the opportunity to learn different jobs.

Dear Family,
I miss you very much. Life on the road has been tough, but I have met some interesting people. The weather is warm and the money is descent. I hope you are all doing well and try not to worry about me. We will survive this terrible time and come out better people for it.

Meet all different kinds of people and have cool experiences. But, that is not a life i would want to live.

Dear Family,
It's hard working all over and always moving. Its hard to get close to people and then have to get up and move. I don't like having to say so many goodbyes. The work is tough but I can get through that. I'm excited to be able to come home and see you guys. I am hoping to stay with the job I have now as long as possible, but knowing what has happened before I won't be able to do that. Hope to see you guys soon.

Well the positive things about living as a migrant worker is that you never have to buy a house. You don't haVE to worrie about house bills or anything like that. Another good thing is that you get to see the world and how people act. Some negitive things are, that you can never settle down and make friends. It would be really hard to always try to make new friends everywhere you go. Hello mom. I'm now working at a bank. I have gone through many jobs during my travels. I really miss home but i do love getting to see all the new places. I also like have a bunch of jobs, that way i can see which ones i like. The other day i met a hobo. He was nice and all but he really smelled. Well so long, i hope to see you soon.

The positives of being a migrant worker are:
• You can travel to places that you have never been before.
• You have a chance to eat at the farm where you work.
• You can get food from the farm.
• You were able to leave whenever you pleased

The negatives of being a migrant worker are:
• There was no specific place to sleep
• You were never assured a chance of a job
• You had to work in the full sun and heat.
• The days were long.
• It was hard to make relationships work with people because you were always moving on.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I found a job working at Mr. Kelley’s farm this week. It is potato season. After that, if I am lucky I will be working in the corn fields.

It is pleasant here. Mrs. Kelley feeds us a huge lunch every day. It is mostly boiled potatoes, corn and bread. We work from sun up to sun down. It is long hours bending over the soil in the hot sun. Even so, I am fortunate because I getting money and have food in my belly.

It seems to me that this time period was very rough. I cant imagine what the people in this time are going through. I think for a migrant worker they would have a slightly better time getting through this. They would be the ones with jobs and they would have better chances at getting them becasue they are moving around so much. On the other hand it would be hard moving around so much.

Dear Family,
I finally have some time to write to and I hope you are doing well. I am getting by fine, picking up work whereever I can find it. The work is very tedious and I am having trouble getting through the day. It isnt much pay but I am saving enough for all of us so that we can have a few meals for a week. If work doesnt get any better I dont know what I am going to do, I may have to come home. I hope to see you all soon.

Dear family,

As I am migrating west my journey has become more difficult. Work is getting harder and harder to find, and i am feeling a little threatned by the competition. I have been moving around from farm to farm picking up little jobs. I miss you guys a lot and i hope that i can get settled and bring you guys out here soon. In till then I am working hard and trying my best to make the best of things. The adventures and friends however are wonderful. Although I always am sad when it is time to say good bye. I miss you guys a lot, pray for me!

I have recently gotten sick, but I cannot let that stop me from going to work. We will end up on the streets if I miss a day of work!! I spend more time there than I do home. It's horrible! This job doesn't even pay much, but I'm having a horrible time finding another job with better pay! Hookers get more money than this!

Being a migrant worker during any time period would have to be tough, because you never have stability or assurance that you will be able to feed your family and yourself. You would always be on the move, so you would not be able to invest in something long-term, such as a house, to possibly sell later for profit. Also, with moving constantly, you cannot form relationships with others and create friends that will help you through the tough times, such as this time period. During the Great Depression it had to be hard to find work, especially on farms that were struggling to begin with. Although there were many negatives to being a migrant worker though, you could still find new places and people. Seeing different lifestyles and never feeling tied down to one area was also a positive.

Dear Family,
Although I am currently on the move looking for new work, I still have some money left from my last job. I am currently in California somewhere hoping to find work on a nearby farm. The different places I have been are marvelous in there differences. No matter where I go though, everyone seems to be struggling. It helps to know that I am not the only one who lives on a day-to-day basis. I might stop soon, depending on if I can find work here. I love you all and hope I will see you soon.

Today we discussed The Great Depression and migrant workers. Discuss what are the positives and negatives to living during this time period as a migrant worker. Then, write a letter to a family member discussing your experience.

some positives of living during the depression would be that a lot of things were cheap and if u had a decent job (or a job at all) u can get food and supplies for ur family cheap. some positives of being a migrant worker would be seeing the world looking for jobs, and also meeting a whole bunch of new people. these would be positives because cheap food and supplies is always a positive, and seeing the world would be an amazing experience. Meeting a bunch of new people would be sweet because there are some crazy people and some really amazing people in this world and getting to know them would be sweet. A negative of living during the depression would be there are barely any jobs, and if u even have a job theres always a possibility of being layed off. a negative for being a migrant worker would be loosing some people that u were close to and also never having a real home.

Dear Family,
work here in california sucks. There are only a few jobs and the money is really tight. I met some awesome people and some people i wish i didnt meet. The sceenery here is awesome and i wish u could see. the kids are doing good, but mom and pops arn't holding up to good. I dont think mom is going to last much longer, and dad is really sick. i wish u all the best and i hope things are going as well for you as they are for me.

Sincerely Alex
P.S i miss you guys all alot

Dear Mom and Dad,
I miss you all so much. I have met so many great people, but also some bad. Life is rough living by myself. Since im not the most social person, i have learned to become more social. Hopefully roosevelt will get us out of this mess. I cant wait until im back home with you. Work is getting so hard. I seem to always be working with little time off. While it may have been tough for some to live during the depression, the expericne they had still had positives and negatives. A postive was improving a personed mental strenght and forcing them to use their brains better. Another postive was most of they became thirfty, one man i saw on the news had 700,000 in his bank beacause he never went out and lived in a small house. A negative is that you could have hard times and that may stick in your head that could make you go crazy or hurt you forever. Lastly another negative is that you may not enjoy your self or trust the banking system and keep your money out of the banks where it should be.

Dear Family,
It has been hard for me but i am still hanging on by a thread. That thread is what i am using for my shoe lace beacasue i cant afford to get any shoes or shoe laces. I have been searching high and low for jobs near and far taking anything i can get my hands on. If only you could see how crazy this deprssion is making some people maybe then you could understand. Best of wishes for you and the others, tell them that i wish i could sent them all letters too but it is not cheap.

When we were discussing everything, it seemed to me that we could come up with more negatives than positives! As for the negatives you would have to work your absolute hardest, because you never know if they were to replace you with someone better. Under the conditions, you would have to work hard in order to support your family members. As for the positives, you would get to experience life. Have a new adventure anytime you would like. Also, you would make some money, for food, shelter, and family. Being a migrant means that you can have more freedom than others.

Dear Family,
With all the work that I've been doing for the past months, I happened to land a new job! This one is even better than the last, and I will be earning a little more money than my other job. I'm sorry for the distance between each letter, I'm struggling to keep up with my responsibilities. However, I will not quit. This experience, is something I wish to share with all of you. I get to explore, and see new places frequently. I love all of you dearly, and miss you all greatly.

Love, Alanna.

Mr. Kay,

The positives about The Great Depression is that as a migrant worker you can get a job. For example, you could get a job as a farmer. Some of the negatives are low pay, and low work hours. For example, you would only get paid about $100 a month.

Dear Family,

Work is very hard to come by out here. i would love it if I could send you some money to help raise the family but I am short on money also. I miss you all greatly. Tell maw ma I love her and I will see her soon. I have had over three jobs so far and none of them combined could pay for a place to stay. I have been forced to sleep outside with the night owls. I love you all greatly. XOXO SAMANTHA

The positives of being a migrant worker are the opportunities to travel around the country and to meet new people. However, the negatives outweigh the positives. Many times, as a migrant worker, you cannot find a job, jobs cannot be held for a long period of time, you cannot carry a relationship with anyone, you have to work for whatever job you are given and the jobs you find do not pay well. It is a very difficult life as a migrant worker to constantly search for jobs, and to take what is given to you, no matter what.

Dear family,
I have just found a new job on the western front. The days are long and the pay is small, however, I will take what I can get. It has been two months since I have had a job, and it is a small miracle that I should land upon this job. I work in the fields, against the blistering sun, but it is all the worth the money to support my family. I love and miss you all. Hope to see you soon.
Love,
Cherie

Living in this time period would have been extremely rough. First off you wouldn't have a home. I can't see myself living a life without a home. Secondly, I'd always have to be saying my goodbyes to new friends that I'd make along the way. Which saying goodbye to friendswhen I know I won't see themfor a long time is extremely hard for me. There would be some ups to being a migrant worker of course. For example: I'd always be meeting new people, and I could see the country in all it's beauty.

Dear Family,
Being a migrant worker is unlike what you imagined. The pay is small and the living quarters are horrible. Other than that the other workers are nice and we have tequila every night after work. I miss you all, and I love you. Tell Timmy to come up here to get a job.

living in The Great Depression would be really hard. the negatives would be you might have to leave your family, you wouldn't have a stable job, rough conditions, and a lack of builing long time friendships. you work at a place and pack up and leave. also you could get sick from a diseases. you never know where you are headed next or where work will open up. the positives to living the life of a migrant worker are your experiences. you probably would learn a lot of jobs and about trade quickly. you would also meet a lot of new people along the way.

dear family,
its been tough finding work but i finally got a 2 week job picking cotton on this farm. i am getting a place to sleep and some meals, but the work is hard. it is really hot here and very sunny. i've met a lot of interesting people on my journies. i have learned so much from some people and it is wierd to think i will never see them again. i hope to come home soon. hang in there and stay healthy.

Some positives to this job is that you go and get to see many different places. you never have to do the same ol shit, so its more ammusing depending on the job. Plus the places you get to see could be gorgeous, and others not so much. I think there are way more negatives to this, you have to leave your family behind so you can bring in that cash floww, but its really hard to leave people you love. and you could get sick at your job and might have no way of getting better and that might lead to death depending on your condition. also, you might have to fight for a job with people youve became friends with while youve been working else where, its really tough.

dear family,
today, is just another working day. I wake up early and work til sun down, i get more bread that way. Ive traveled all through the states, i feel pretty damn lucky that i can support my family, and blessed my health is in good shape. today i was working at this man, old dannys farm, and he pick me and three others for the job, and left two out, there was a huge commotion, and im sure glad thats all done n over with. hopefully you get this letter.
with all my love,
steffiee

I feel that living in this time period would have been very hard for everyone. Just to get a littel money yoou had to work you ass off like no other just to support your self and even harder to support your family. Anything that was wrong with you such as sickness or broken bones you had to deal with it.

Dear family,
Working is like hell. I work my ass of and get littel money. I seem to be doing okay for now and maintaining a good strong hold on my money. I love you so much my darling. I cant wait to see you and our two boys. Oh and i cant forget my little princess. I love you all so very much and i cant wait to come back home see you all again and be happy and a family once again. I love you goodbye my love.

The negatives of being a migrant worker are that you have no certainty of where you will find work. They are unsure of what they will be doing next and often go hungry. They can be seperated by their families too. A positive thing is that they didn't have to say behind in their towns and deal with being exivted from their houses and got to get out of some of the dust bowl. They also got to have hope when they are migrants instead of being doomed for a life of failure.

Dear Family,
Life is hard. Being a migrant worker is not always easy and I have to travel far. I am coming to a large town tomorrow and hope to find work though. It will be worth all of our struggles and I will be with you soon. I love you all.
Love, Megan

Mr. Kay,
At first glance, a migrant workers life would be terrible. Primarily, yes, but also there is some pluses. One plus would be you get to see something new all the time, with all the moving. You wouldn't ever be stir crazy or bored of one place. You get to make a fresh start every couple months. There are also many negatives. One could be never being able to form any solid relationships with anyone. It would be troublesome and It would be really annoying. Also, no home. You don't really have a real place to live. I couldn't live without a bed. Sleeping is like a hobby to me. Also crazy working conditions and small pay. You wouldn't be expected to work for so much, so you wont get paid a whole lot. And here is my letter.

Dear Family,
Work out here is not good at all. I have to work on ye olde' countryside. I got calluses, bumps, and bruises and I don't like it. I don't make to much money either. I usually just get enough to eat. I do get to meet new people all the time. I get to meet new women. Oh by the way, I have a wife in almost every state now. but that's besides the point. I really just want to come home, but I keep feeling that I might stumble upon a job that pays a great deal without me destroying my body. Well send my best regards to Mama, Father, Jim, Jimmy, Jimothy, Jimantha, and Ethl. They are all nice kids. I love you all.
I'll be home soon.

Love Luke

Discuss what are the positives and negatives to living during this time period as a migrant worker. Then, write a letter to a family member discussing your experience.

I think some of the positives of being a migrant worker are that you get to really understand life. I thionk you would see a broad spectrum of ideas and learn to understand people more. Secondly, i think that the income might be better than what you had before. I think people are migrant workers to find money, and if they are working thats always a positive. Next, i tihnk some of the negatives are that you will be going through poverty and much stress. Nothing in life will ever be routine, and you will always have to make ends meet no matter what happens, because life goes on.

Dear Family,
I would like to first let you know that everything will be alright. I am finding work, but it is always hard. These are jobs i wouldnt normally do, but i have to, just to keep you fed. I think that we will be stationary for a while, as work is good, but you never know with this anymore. Lastly, i want to tell you all i love you and everything will be alright. I am working hard to make this work. Keep this in your prayers.
Love

Being a migrant worker during the great depression was hard. There are many more negatives to being a migrant worker then there are positives. Some negatives include a famine of jobs, long risky drives to try to get the job. Jobs were also very time consuming and back breaking labor. The only positives to being a migrant worker during this time is spending time with family and you get to see lot of the country.

Dear Family,
My trip to California has been long and boring. The people I am riding with are rood and smell very bad. It is very hard to find work here im guessing my judgment on making the trip. I worked last on a large grape farm. My hands hurt so bad from picking them from the vine. I'm not getting paid enough and I need to steal to get money to eat . Its a dog eat dog world out there don't wait to be the aggressor if you find a job find a way to get it done. Stay well
yours truely,

I think I have a good idea of the success and struggles of the migrant workers of The Great Depression. There was hardships in that time period were rough; people had to put themselves way out there to find a paying job. Forgetting about mannerisms and decency, people dove into any kind of work that paid well, if it paid at all.

Women would pluck chickens, clean houses, waitressing jobs, being a Governess to a slightly wealthier family's children. Some jobs unthinkable to working as mechanics, plumbers, construction workers. Anything to keep them going so they could feed their families.

Men did anything and everything. Mechanics, competitive boxing, horse races, rail road production. They sold anything valueable to the ones with money, and fought to keep their land if it wasn't already purchased from under their feet.

Hardships were the lack of food, lack of money, and housing became more and more expensive. Almost everyone had to work in the average family. It was a fight their lives to get out a hole and say "I did it."

the quasi positives of being a migrant worker would definitely be the fact that you get to see a lot of landscape. plus, new people and new faces in every new place. to some, that may be awesome. although back then, staying in touch would be extremely hard, but todays day and age, with social networking, and cell phones, and video messaging, you can stay connected to those around the world. i like that a lot. now to the negatives, the real truths. you had no real place to stay, ever. you did not own anything of major value, so it would have been extremely difficult to take out loans and other bank fee's, not including the fact that banks were failing. you also only had your family, cause with every new move, you are going back to square 1 on the social ladder.

well, heres my latter to the 'rents and family 'bout out western.

Dear Family(s?)
hows it been? how be the kids, and the dog? i miss roscoe. anyways, we be getting a much amountain of work here out western in kansass. we's be best at picking crops and gatherin them. it sure be hard work, but it beats having none at y'all. its so funny, that in our free time, we launch the bad crops of a dling shot, and we shoots'em. its a really fun afternoon activity when we got nothin more to gets done. well, i hope y'all be doing good, and yer all safe back over 'der in the mitchigan.

BYE!

I feel that living in this era would have been very rough and hard to get by. Always moving place to place country to country would've have been so hard when you had to supply for your family and yourself. I would have been so hard not seening your loved ones for months maybe even years on end. You would've had to be able to work thorugh the pain and suffering just so you could hopefully make a better life for yourself and your family and endoor not only physical pain but mental as well.

Dear Wife and Kids,
I have been trying to find work whereever i possibly can. I am almost at the point where i can move you all here to the states to live with me. I have been working my ass off to the point where my hands bleed. I cannot wait to see you all. I hope it is very soon.
I love you all very much

Sincerly
John McLean
