Loneliness is a definite concept seen while reading Of Mice and Men. Explain why you think the migrant experience could be a lonely existence. Then, choose a character that you think displays loneliness and explain why this character is, in fact, lonely. Give an example from the book that proves your point and cite the example internally in your blog. Then, discuss how or when loneliness has been a part of your life and how you handled it.

Migrant workers are literally "moving workers". They have lives as a vagabond, which means there is no stable home that can comfort them, and the shelters they can release their stress and concerns. In this novel so far, one of the characters who are having loneliness, I'd like to talk about the best, is Crooks. Crooks is a black man. Because his skin color, he'd been not getting along with other white guys. Even when he used to hang out with other white kids, his father objected. Those loneliness in himself kept him in solitude, reading books and thinking a lot, which is the main cause of why he desires to find out the truth. From his quote, "If I say something, why it's just a nigger sayin'", we can see how his solitude made him think criticize himself and be skeptical.
My own experience of feeling loneliness was when I was in elementary school. Since both my parents worked outside till evening, when I came home, I spent all my time with computer or Tv or with my friends. Even I didn't know what kind of emotion, feeling vacant, was, I guess it was loneliness now.
Mr. Kay,
Obviously there are many reasons to why migrant workers lead a lonely life. The obvious is that they can't actually go around and make a solid relationship with people. You might not have the time to be around people enough to understand them. Some might not even want to make friends. For those people, they might meet people and not like being torn apart from them. I think that simply, Crooks is a character who is obviously very lonely. He is separated from everyone due to him being black. they say he smells. This part explains he they don't include him. "Cause I'm black. They play cards in there, but I can't play cause I'm black. They say I stink. Well, I tell you, all of you stink to me."(68) I have also once dealt with loneliness. When I came from elementary schools to middle school, i didn't have very many friends because all of them went to other schools. I just put my self out there and tried to make friends and I was successful. I see that migrants would do the same, but they don't have the time to make new friends. I did. That's how we differ. This is what I think of loneliness.

Migrant workers are lonely because they wander from place to place usually by themselves. They don't have time to form relationships and no one really gets to have the chance to actually know them. One character in the book that is really lonely is Crooks. He lives all by himself because no one wants to be around him. He can't go in the bunkhouse so when they're all playing cards, he's in his room reading by himself. "Books ain't no good. A guy needs somebody- to be near him... I tell ya a guy gets too lonely an' he gets sick." (Pg. 73) Loneliness has been a part of my life when I was like 6 or 7 and my brother would go away. He was the only person I would play with and when he would go to my grandmas house or something I would miss him and not know what to do with just my parents around. I handled it by doing things I wasn't allowed to do when he was around.
Being a migrant back then would have been very lonely i think. You move around place to place away from your family and friends. And you dont really know anyone when you work as a migrant worker cuz you move around so much. One of the characters that you can tell is lonely so far in this story is crooks. He doesnt realy have anyone to talk to. He is the only colored man on the ranch and the white guys dont like him much. He said in the book that no one really comes to visit him. He also said he was lonely. When i am alone and bored i guess i feel lonely then. I just put on music or read and it makes it better.

Migrant workers move around everywhere. So, because of this, they don't have anybody that they are with always. In this novella there have been many people that are lonely. Yet the one that sticks out most to me is Crooks. Crooks is an African American, because of this he's treated unequally and doesn't have many friends. When he was younger and lived on his father's ranch he did play with some white kids. His father didn't want him hanging around those kids though. All this loneliness in his life caused him to just be in solitude. Instead of going out and hanging with friends he reads books and thinks a lot.
My own experiences of loneliness are practically everyday. Not because I don't have any friends, but because I don't have that one special person to look forward to seeing everyday. I know this shouldn't bother me but it does, and I don't like feeling like I'm left out. I say this because I hear crap all the time about how people are going out. And when someone tells me something like that I'm thinking "Yeah that's good...but what about me?". I hate being/ feeling alone but I'd rather be alone then hear about relationships all the time.

Being a migrant worker could be very lonely because you don't usally have your family there with you. People usally leave the people they love the most behind to make money. I think that a character that I am going to choose is Candy. All Candy had was his dog. "Well hell I have had him so long. I had him since he was a pup."(Steinbeck, 44) I just became lonely on monday. My cousin moved to her mothers house. She was the only person that I really hung out with. Now I just stay in my room and keep to my self. Although I am on my phone a lot more.
Mr.Kay,
I think that migrant experience would have been very lonely. They all traveled around looking for work, most of them alone. A character from the book i find to be very lonely is Crooks. What made me decided him was the quote he said on page 68. "They play cards in there but i cant play becasue i'm black. They say i stink. Well, i tell you all of you stink to me." I think lonliness has a medium part in my life. Although im not literally alone and by myself i still feel alone sometimes for no reason. When i feel lonely i just deal with it. I suck it up, and know that life goes on and i dont sulk in my pain.

Being a Migrant worker is tough because they have no stable home. Constantly on the move these people live in many different places. All depending on what kind of job they have, this determines where they stay. Being in constant motion make life difficult when trying to make friends. It also is a hindrance on having a relationship. Carrying on a loquacious conversation is almost non existent while on the job and then they are probably to tired to do much after the job is over for the day. I think that Curly's Wife is very lonely. Curly is always off somewhere while she is left at home. Everyone is expection her to stay in that house and keep to her self. When she goes to go talk to Crooks, Lennie and Candy they all think that it's not a good idea to be talking to other people because she is married. Right after that she starts yelling out harsh things about Lennie and the others. I think that loneliness hardens a person in a negative way.

Mr. Kay,
I believe that the migrant experience could be a lonely experience because you would always be traveling, and it would be hard for someone that's constently moving to start a family or keep in touch with friends. I have choosen Crooks because he would have to be the loneliest character so far. Crooks is truley lonely because nobody wants to be around him because he is African American. In chapter four, Crooks explains to Lennie why he stays in the stable barn and not in the bunk house. He tells Lennie that the other workers dont like him because of his difference in color. The last time I have had loneliness be a part of my life was yesturday. Me and my bestfriend got into a huge fight because I was 100% sure she lied to me but yet she denied it. I didn't talk to her the whole day. When I was walking through the halls, I enjoyed the loneliness. It gave me time to think about what I was going to do, it helps me channel my anger when I'm alone. I let out all my frustration in that one day, I also never came toward her way. I didn't want anything bad to come bursting out if I would have talked to her.

i find loneliness to be a major cause of depression during the depression. migrant workers travel from place to place in search of jobs money and food. To add to all this hastle, many also traveled alone. This made many of them sad and unsupported. in mice of men it is also shown constantly. One example is the character candy. Candy is a lonely man that depends on his dog to carry him through these economc hard times. (cited in chapter 2 in Of Mice and Men)
This gives me knowledge on how people felt during the deppresion and doubled it now knowing that many traveled individualy.

I would agree that being a migrant worker is lonely. I would think so beacause they have no one close to them. They are moving so much that they never have time to esthablish a good relation ship with anyone. George and Leenie are lucky because they move around together and they have become close becasue of that. One of the more lonely characters in this novella, I think, is Crooks. I would say he is for a couple of reasons. One reason is becasue he is black. Because of that he has his own seperate room, by the barn, away from all the other workers. Another reason is because all the workers wont let him go in the bunkhouse to play cards and stuff. No one really talks to him either is what it sounds like. Everybody keeps to them self and so does Crooks. I would say that I am lonely whenever I go hunting, it ties in with what Crooks told Lennie. When I go hunting I dont have anybody else to talk to so in that case I feel lonely. Like what Crooks said, "A guy needs somebody- to be near him. A guy goes nuts if he aint got noody. Dont make no difference who the guy is, long's he's with you."(72)

This could be a lonely existance because, you are never on one place to get accostumed to other people or make friends. I think this would be very tough to not have someone to talk to. I think that crooks is the most lonely. He has nobody htat is his "kind" that he cxan talk to and hang out with. " there wasnt another colored family for miles around. An now there ain a colored person on this ranch."(STEINBECK 70). I have thought to a time where i had nobody to talk to when i stayed ay my grandmas for a month. I hated it because it wasnt what i was used too. I couldnt come home and interact with my dad and sister, the only thing i had was a tv.
I think the migrant experience would be lonely because you are always moving and never in a stable environment. Migrant workers never stayed long enough in one place to establish long lasting friendships. One of the characters im this novel that I felt was lonely was Curley's wife. She would always go where the men were and ask if they saw Curley; I believe she just wanted attention and someone to talk to. Curley's wife didn't seem to have anybody at the house that she could confide in. In the novel, Curley's wife stated to Lennie, "Why can't I talk to you? I never get to talk to nobody. I get awful lonely." She just wanted to have something to do and since there were mostly men on the ranch, she tried to strike up conversations with them.
I needed to add a time I felt lonely. I felt lonely when my sister went to college. We were always together and when she went away, it was very difficult.
A migrant being a lonely existance could be because they are always moving and have no money. In "Of Mice and Men" Crook tells migrants always dream and never get because they are always changing locations. He also says how they never obtain enough money to live truely. He himself lives very lonely because he's black. He has his own seperate room in the barn and hates company due to him being hated. Every day he is by himself and his only real hobby seams to be reading. If he had been white he would not be as lonely just because he would be with the rest of the men. I guess it would be hard to live like that. No one to hang with etc...
He even states he's not allowed to play cards with the others because they say he "stinks". He seemed to be the best to choose from in my opinion.
A migrant experience is a lonely experience because you aren't with people too long. People come and go as needed and they are no longer found once they disappear. They are constantly moving around not even knowing who they are with. Once a person gets to know another person, shortly after, they leave or the other person leaves. Crooks is a great example of this because he sees people come and go constantly. He lives a tougher life too because he's black. He is discriminated against and he has a small amount to live for. "This is just a nigger talkin'... So it don't mean nothing." (71) Crooks feels that he is left out. Nobody takes his opinion seriously because he is black. Loneliness has been a part of my life very few times. Most of the time I am with someone or something. I can handle being alone fairly easily. However I can't be alone for an extended period of time because that would be very bad for me.

Sorry forgot to add a time I was lonely...
Last summer when people were busy and had work I could not get around to see friends Etc...
I had to stay at the house 2 weeks with nothing to do. I handled this by digging up old hobbys I did. I even walked to nearby lakes to fish thats how bored I was. I realy did not have much of a choice. The not having people there was not all to bad because you get to focus on free time of what your interested into. I guess it was not to bad but I still like having access to friends etc. This year I will have a car and a job so that will change a bit. I can get were I want and buy what I want.
I think migrant workers were lonley because of them traveling all the time. They probably were never at a job long enough to make some goods friends. They were also away from their families for long periods of time which can cause a family man to become very lonely and depressed. A character that I think displays loneliness is Curleys wife. She is always looking for attention and something to do. Curley is protective of her so she can't have a good time with anyone or hangout. In ch.4 when Lennie, Candy, and Crooks are in Crooks' room, Curleys wife comes wonderin' in looking for something to do. Another part is when she is flirting with the other guys on the ranch. She is trying to get the attention she doesn't get from Curley. When I was younger my mom never worked and it was only my dad that worked. My mom was always home. Now she owns her own business and my dad works afternoons, so I hardly see them as much as I'd like. I'm not saying I'm lonely but this is probably the closest experience I've had smimilar to loneliness.

Yes indeed loneliness is a def. concept in Of Mice and Men. Being a migrant would be tough, you always are moving around never having a permanent place to call your home. This is your job to work, most of the time you shouldnt make friends because you have to work hard, and if you make friends they might move to another job. this leaves you lonely. another reason is that you might work on the same farm and no one ever talks to you bc of your race. like Crooks, hes black, so many people wouldnt want to be around him. he lives in the barn, has more stuff then what you say could hold in a bindle. anyways, in the story,he says, "there wasnt another colored family for miles around. And now there aint a colored man on this ranch an theres jus one family in soledad" pg 70.
hmm this is hard, loneliness is hard to deal with, if you cant talk to people easily, like me. i really dont like to spill my guts out bc i dont trust alot of people. but i handle loneliness by hanging wiht like 2 good friends, bc if i hang with alot of people i sometimes feel left out. but if i hang with my best friend shell always cheer me up, will go fishin off the docks by our houses and just relax. or ill text someone and theyll call me to make me feel better.

Being a migrant worker would be extremely lonely. You'd have to move away from you family and travel on your own. Even in you had found a friend at a job, in time you would just inevitably have to say goodbye. As much as i think Curley's wife is a rude slut, i still believe she is very lonely. Shes surrounded by people and still shes alone. Her husband and her relationship doesn't seem very accompanying. Even in the novella its says that Curley and his wife and constantly looking for each other. evidently it seems her husband isn't around for her and she seeks attention in other men. I believe that she is genuinely lonely, but i think she is also just an attention seeker. Things might be different if there were other women on the ranch. She is secluded from almost all the social activity. I don't believe i have ever been physically lonely. I've alway had someone to go to, or someone to count on. i however have been mentally lonely. when i was younger i used to have periods of time where i felt secluded. it was a manifestation of loneliness. I wasn't really lonely, i just pushed people away, making me feel alone, even though i knew i could pull them back.
Migrant workers were probally very lonely back in the day. They always were moving from place to place and never really able to create a stable relationship with someone. I believe that cooky shows a lot of lonelness. He is the only colored person on the ranch and is not allowed in the bunk house with the onthers because they say he smells. So he is forced to live in the barn with the horses, when he is really an aloof person(67). A time in my life when I have felt lonely was when I got into alot of trouble and got grounded. The way I delt with this, was being really nice to my parents and doing things around the house to get ungrounded faster. This actually worked.

I think a great example of someone who is lonely is Crooks. I know everyone decided to chose him but that's because he is a perfect deisplay of this. He has his own room becasue he doesn't have any friends who want him to come to the bunkhouse to play cards with them. This is all becasue he is black. I think it would be cool to have my own room there but he sees the fact that he has no friends. He is also got one of the loneliest jobs on the ranch as the stable buck. He said, "There wasnt another colored family for miles around. And now there ain't a colored person on this ranch."(Steinbeck - 70). I feel lonely quite fequently actually. I felt extremely lonely one time when all my friends were mad at me even though it wasn't my fault. I tried calling them but they wouldn't answer their phones becasue I was calling. I had to stay in my house and I was very bored.
Being a migrant worker would diffiantly be a lonely existance. You are working at a ranch and then just when you get to know people you must get up and move again. At a new place will be full of new people. This is pretty much a never ending cycle because you have to move around all the time and none of the relationships would stick. Also, if you did have family or friends, you would never be able to see them. I believe Candy shows lonliness. He proves that hes lonely when he jumps at the chance of moving with George and Lennie. Also, this is why he fought so hard to save his dog. The dog was really the only good relationship he had and he wasn't going to just give it up. Candy says, "No, no I couldnt do that, i had him for too long". The dog was always at his side. When I was grounded for the weekend, I was really lonely. To solve the problem I ended up hanging out with my little sister a lot.

I think that the migrant experience could be a lonley existece because you may feel left out from everyone. They are away from their family and don't have people there to surport them. They may also feel left out because they are from another place. I think that George shows lonelyness. He is always taking care of Lennie and doesn't really have time for very many people. He wants to settle sown and have a wife but he can't because he allways has to take care of Lennie. pg 11 "Why I could eat any place that I want or any hotel". Lonliness has been when My gerbal died. I relly like the think and I had it for a ling time. When It died I felt really lonely and sad for a few days. I delt with it by telling myself that it just happens.

Loneliness can be a really big effect when going through the migrant experience. I think it can be lonely because you can always be moving around. So you will never really have any friends. No one to talk to or anything. You don't even have a stable home because your always moving around. I think either Lennie or Crooks. I think Lennie because, He never talks to anyone. Hes always alone. George just leaves him. So one day he decides to go into Crooks stable buck, when he knows that no one does that. And Crook because hes always by himself. but i think by choice. He doesn't try to talk to anyone. I don't think really think I'm lonely. But i think i just slove that by talking to people and hanging out with my friends.
I think the migrant experience could be a lonley existence because they don't get to hang out with there friends. Instead they are working on the ranch all day. A character in the book that I think displays loneliness is Crooks. I think he display loneliness because no one wanted to be around him unless he needed to do something on the ranch. An example from the book that proves my point is " Cause I'm black. They play cards in there, but I can't play because I'm black. They say I stink. Well, I tell you, you all of you stink to me" (68). I think a time when loneliness has been a part of my life is when I moved to this school district when I was going into sixth grade. I felt lonely because I didn't know anybody except for the people I played softball with but I didn't have every class with them.

I think the reason why migrant workers are some of the most lonely people is because there's no one to talk to. They usually come to like a place they're at, and even make friends. But they eventually know that they will have to leave someday down the road.
I think the definition of Loneliness is Curly's wife. She doesn't get to be with Curly very often, and feels like a trophy wife. It's like she's just there for looks. Just for Curly to show off to the workers like a shiney new toy.
And feeling like an item made her lonely, and all she wanted was attention. When the other men notice her, it makes her feel better that someone sees her and wants her.
Curly's wife said she would've been happier living as an actress in (what i believe is) 'chapter' five. Said she would've enjoyed all the attention for just being who she wanted to be, not what people thought of her. If she wasn't so lonely(and if Curly wasn't a royal PRICK), maybe she'd have left Curly to pursue her dream.
Some people will go to great distances to try and catch a small dollop of happiness. But sometimes it can be a lonely road to find it, and people eventually lose sight of that dream.

I think the migrant expirence would be lonely because most of them traveled by themselves looking for work. You dont have anybody to depend on for anything. The character that displays loneliness in the story is curleys wife. Their is no other girls on the ranch and she has nobody to talk to. She doesnt like curley and thinks he is a terrible husband. "I don't know why I cant talk to you. I aint doin no harm to you."-Curleys wife (Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck, page 88) She is saying in the quote that she basically has nobody to talk to and she is sad about it. Loneliness is a big part of everyones life but in my life i love to be around other people. If nobodys around i get very lonely and bored. I guess i just miss everyone when im alone and thats how i handle it.

Being a migrant worker would be an incredibly lonely job to do. For one, because most of the time you travel alone. Also, because you have no friends or family to keep in touch with. To me, i think that Crooks is the most lonely character in Of Mice and Men. Mainly because everyone excludes him because of the color of his skin. And also because he has no one to talk to, and he’s never had a real friend before. “I'm black. They play cards in there, but I can't play cause I'm black. They say I stink. Well, I tell you, all of you stink to me."(68) This quote was stated by Crooks himself, saying that everybody excludes him from the bunkhouse, and how he’s afraid of them in a way. The only example of loneliness in my life is when my best friend moved away at the end of seventh grade. She was basically my only really close friend so i was upset for a while and felt lonely. But then i realized that i needed a more variety of friends, so i resolved the problem by becoming closer with my other friends.

Migrant workers are often lonely because they move around so often. They move around from job to job and never have a steady home or steady friends. I think Crooks really is a very lonely person. No one talks to him because he is black, and you can tell it plays a large toll on him. He was so delighted when Lennie and Candy showed up in his room, he tried to hide it with anger but I think he finally felt less lonely. In anyones life there is going to be loneliness. In mine I think it's not so hard because I have so many people to depend on. However there are times when I feel like there is no one I can talk to and it is harder.
Most migrant workers travel alone from job to job. Traveling with another person like Lennie and George do is basically unheard of. It is much easier to find work and just have to worry about yourself in a migrant worker's lifestyle. I think that Curley's wife displays loneliness. Just by her hanging around all the men on the barn all day, she is showing she is lonely. For example, when she talks to Crooks, Lennie, and Candy, she says, "Well, I ain't giving you no trouble. Think I don't like to talk to somebody ever' once in a while? Think I like to stick in that house alla time?" (Steinbeck, 77) She openly shares with them that she feels like she does not get any attention from her husband. I think that this is sad because as a husband, Curley should be there for her and show her some attention and compassion. One time when I felt lonely was when I went to pom camp for the first time. None of the new freshman went and only two sophomores went, so I didn't know anybody. I just acted like myself and was friendly to other girls on the team, and I formed new friendships. Before camp, I was truly scared of what the older girls would think of me, and I thought they would think I sucked at poms and was a bad addition to the team. In the end, I new the other girls accepted me and were happy to have me as a team member. Just having the acception of the older girls and knowing that they were there to help me made the rest of the season that much more amazing.

I feel it would be a lonely experience because you are on your own out there being a migrant worker. I thin slim displays a lot of loneliness in the book. He even brings it up in the book. How lonely he is and that why hes stays to himself because hes has no friends. also because no one likes him because hes black. loneliness can be apart of nyones life at any time. It can just be when you are alone for a minute and you get a feeling of needing someone to be there for you. lime if something bad happens you can talk to someone about it.

The migrant experience would be a lonely existence because they never stay in one place. The people they meet never stay in one place either. So nobody can make a connection. Crooks says, “S’pose you couldn’t go into the bunkhouse and play rummy ‘cause you was black” (pg 72). Later he says, “A guy goes nuts if he ain’t got nobody” (pg 72). Crooks is not only lonely because he works with migrant workers, he is also lonely because he is black and crippled. Anyone of these things would make you feel lonely. I think Crooks is the loneliest person because he has these facts against him.
I was lonely at Boy Scout camp. I missed my family and wanted to go home. I hung out with the kids I liked the best and made the best out of it. I ended up having a great time!
Migrant experience is lonely because you are constantly moving and your relationships dont last that long. Since they are moving so much, they are constantly meeting new people and leaving others behind. They make little pay. Also, they dont really have a close friend to tell their problems or feelings to. I think george is lonely because he is constantly saying the stuff he could do is lennie wasnt around. George seems at times distant, and his lonliness shows through. In the first chapter, it talks about how george is complaining to leenie about how they are always moving because lennie screws up. This is saying that george just loses friends, which makes him feel lonely. I have felt lonely when i lost my best friend. She had said i wasnt good enogh to be her friend. We spent a lot of years hanging out, and we old each other everything. After she told me what she did, i felt like i had no one to really tell stuff too.

Being a migrant worker would get lonely because they usually travel on their own.. So once they do find work, they don't know anybody else who works there. I choose Lennie as my character actually, yeah he has George.. but still... he's slow, so he doesn't get much of what people are saying to him.. and nobody ever cares about what Lennie says... so he doesn't get much attention... so if you really think about it he is alone... My book is in the car and I don't feel like getting it. but there was a part where Crooks was talking to Lennie about how he doesn't understand much of what George says... and how george could leave and lennie would be 100% alone. I'm actually pretty alone all the time, well I mean i have friends... and people fallow me round and talk to me all day... but like.. They don't get me. There is only one person who understands me completely and that's my best friend lol. I don't do much about it, as much as it seems im really not a people person.. so i don't care much.

Mr. Kay,
Being a migrant worker can be very loneley in many ways. First of all, you do not have anytime to get close to anyone that you meet in the camps, or along your journey looking for a job. Also, you cannot have a family. Because you cannot afford to persue any girls because you are so busy, you cant have a family. And in not having a family, you do not have anyone to love you, or love them back. A character that is very lonely in this book is Crooks. He says in chapter 4 that he had not ever had someone in his room before. It also says that inside he was very happy, but did not want to show that to Lennie. I think that this is the first time that someone actually wanted to just talk to him and not give him another job or something to do for them. A time when I was loely was on vacation. I did not bring a friend up north like I usually did. I was bored for a couple of days, then I started to ahgn out with my dad. ME and him in return got a lot closer and I made some great memories with him on that trip that I will never forget.
I think living as a migrant worker would be very lonely. Not only is it hard to find friends when you are moving around but is also hard to keep them them you are moving as well. I think crooks is a very lonely character in this book. First he is the only black man in the bunk house and he is discriminated against for that. Another reason is that he doesn't even stay with the other men he has to stay in this other room all by him self. No one makes the effort to talk to him and he doesn't make an effort to make friends. For example when Lennie comes in to say hello he scowls and asks him rudely what he is doing there.(Pg 68) Loneliness has really never been a part of my life. I am constantly surrounded by people to socialize with. I could never live as a lonely person.

Migrant workers move around alot. So they dont really have much time to make friends, and stay close with people. I think a character that displays loneliness is Crook. He is a black immigrant who doesnt talk to the other people very much. He has his own bunk house, and dont invite people in. when he was little he used to play with the white kids, and his father hated it. and they were the only black family around for miles. He just sits in his house at night reading books. Hes not included in anything. "Cause I'm black. They play cards in there, but I can't play cause I'm black. They say I stink. Well, I tell you, all of you stink to me."(68) A time when i was lonely was when hannah an Ryan went to Communications camp and at home i didnt have anyone to talk to. Or call a night before i went to bed (even tho she was in the next room.)How i dealt with that was i just had friends come over, or i was somewhere else. And at school ryan was really the only person i talked to at the time, so i had to find other poeple to talk to. even tho it wasnt hard it still felt like i was lonely. One time i actually forgot that they left and I was waiting for hannah and ryan up stairs and thought why arent thy coming, and then i remembered that they werent even here. :/
Thats a time when i felt lonely, and how i dealt with it.
Migrant workers is self explanatory. To migrate is to move, so a moving worker. It's generally easier to take care of yourself and there is also less awkwardness. Like you land a job but your friend does not. Now what do you do? I think that's why most are alone. Curley's wife (she needs a name) is one of the most lonely characters in the novel. She's the only female and is expected to stay in a house all day long. So she looks for attention. Pg 78 "Sure I gotta husban'. Swell guy ain't he? Spends all his time sayin' what he's gonna do to guys he don't like, and he don't like nobody. THink I'm gonna stay in that 2X4 house and listen how Curley gonna lead with his left twict, and bring up th ol' right cross?..." I don't really suffer loneliness I don't mind being alone. I just enjoy solitude.
Now I know why the copy paste was invented.

I think it would be a lonely experience because you always moving place to place. So if you make a friendship with someone you or them might leave the work area soon. A example of that is Crook. He is alone by himself in his own area of the farm because he is crippled and black. On pages 72-73 he talks about how if a man s by himself to long he starts to get sick. Sadly he is talking about himself and he seems very depressed about it. I guess a point in time where I felt loneliness is when I was home by myself during the summer. The fact I was by myself and no one else was enjoyably for a while because I could do what ever I wanted but got old after a while. I just ended up play xbox live with some on my friends and went down the street to my friends house after.

Living as a migrant worker definitely leads to loneliness because the migrant worker is traveling from place to place, unable to carry on a relationship. When you create a friendship with someone, once you leave, that friendship can no longer exist, because you will no longer will be seeing each other. I think that the character in Of Mice and Men that displays loneliness is Crooks. Crooks is an African American man, so no other worker gives him the time of day. He is set aside from the others, because they think that he is worth taking to. Also, Crooks is separated from the other workers in his own bunkhouse, which Crooks finds very lonely. In the book, Crooks wishes he had someone else to talk to so he didn't have to question his own sanity. He wants to be able to ask someone if what he sees is really there, not go on wondering if he is crazy. All Crooks really wants is someone to talk to. Crooks says, "A guy goes nuts if he aint got nobody. Don't make no difference who the guy is, long's he's with you. I tell ya." (Steinbeck 72) In my life, I experience loneliness when I feel like I don't belong somewhere. I feel like Crooks feels in the novella, as if no one wants me to be there. I think that is the worst type of loneliness I feel.
The migrant experience is a lonely existence beacause you are moving from place to place and never really get to know someone. Most of jobs are never permanet, and you will have to leave to find new work and have to start over. Each time you have to move you are meeting new people, but never forming quality relationships and so you are alone most of the time. The character i think is lonely is Crooks beacause he is not very close to any other guys and haves no pets or anyone watching his back. A quote that supports this is "Why ain't you wanted?" Lennie asked "Cause I'm black. They play cards in there , but i can't play beacause I'm black"(Steinbeck 68) they don't want him nor does so he is lonely. I dont get lonely very offten beacause i dont mine being alone, acually i work better and think better by my self. It is only when i need to talk to someone or i need help that is when i get lonely.

Migrant workers are always on the go, they move from place to place frequently. They work in one place for a while, then once they had enough they move to another town, and work there for a while until moving on again. A character from the novel Of mice and Men, that i believe to be lonely is Crooks. He is a black man, living in a time period where they were still discriminated against. Crooks never really got along with his co-workers, because of the color of his skin. In fact, Crooks has his own room because of his race. So, because of living in his own room, he never usually talked to very many people. However, Slim comes to visit him every so often. An example from this book would be page 73, when Crooks gives a description of a lonely man, that is in face himself. How loneliness has been apart of my life, well I guess it could be when I'm home alone. I really feel, that when my brother goes off to college is when I'm really going to be feeling lonely. Ryan and I are the only kids in our family, so when he goes, it will be just me. It's kind of a scary thought, because he has always been there. How I will handle it, is just to make the most of the time I have with him now, because I know that it is limited. Hopefully, we will also be getting a puppy. Not to replace Ryan of course, but just someone else there for me.

Well if your a migrant worker you are on your own a lot. So yea they would be very lonely a lot. Well Curlys wife for sure. All she does is wake up do nothing. When she is so boared she can't stand it, which is like all the time, she goes and messes aroung with the guys. She is lonely cuz curly doesn't pay any attention to her. When curly's wife came into Crook's bunkhouse she started to talk about how she hated her relasionship and how lonely she was. I am lonely not that often but when i am i usually play XBOB Live.

I believe its a lonly experence because they are always moving. They dont have time to make friends or have a familey because befor they know it they are moving. If i were to pick a character i would pick George. I would pick George because he wants he have a family. But he cant have a family because lennie is always there slowing him down. He keeps george from doing what he wants to do when he wants to and how he wants to. A part at which this happens in the book would be when they are in the brush and George comes out and tells Lennie hes keeping him from doing what he wanted when he wanted. This happend in chapter One and in Chapter two. A time when this has happened to me was when i went to camp connections. I had noone to talk to. I didnt know anyone there so i was a loner. I only knew hannah and she was the one i only talked to and hung out with.
being a migrant worker would be tough for me emotionally. i like to have good friends and if you kept moving around you wouldn't be able to stay friends with someone that long. you might have made a friendship with someone but one day all of a sudden one of you will pack up and leave for a new job. people didn't usually travel together becasue they had an easier time finding jobs when they were by themselves. there could be a few exampels of characters being lonely, but one in particular is Crooks. "A guy needs somebody, to be near him. a guy goes nuts if he aint got nobody. Dont make no difference who the guy is, long's he's with you."(72) He sits in his bunk house all by himself all the time and no one comes to visit him. when my best friend moved last summer it was hard but i got through it. we are still best friends and when she is gone i just tried to surrond myself with people that made me happy.
I think that the migrant experience could be very lonely because you are always going from place to place. The migrant workers never have time for anyone and they don't really talk to the people they know and love. A character that displays loneliness is Crooks. He always wants to be alone and always feels left out. When Lennie sees a light on and comes to visit Crooks, he gets really mad. He wanted to know what Lennie wanted, and he said to maybe sit around for a while. Crooks got really pissed and was acting like a jerk. 68-69. I'm not really a lonely person but the next couple of years i think that i'll be really lonely. Since my brother is going to college its going to be really sad for me.
well, migrants were very lonely. as i have said once before, and will say again, you loose friendships. you always loose friendships in life, but if your moving, esp. a lot, people don't get to know you well enough, and when that happens, people sometimes get the wrong impression of you. now i believe crooks shows a lot of loneliness, although i think he brings it upon himself. he does not want to be bothered, and in chapter 4, he specifically really does not want lennie in his room, or anyone else who comes over, but finally accepts them. page 67. lennie walks in and crooks demands why. in the end, he finds out hes nothin but a harmless "kid".
now. to me, as much as i have been with people in my life for a long time, almost all the time, it still makes me sad when i am alone. even when i can be "connected" to them, it just ends up coming down to the fact that the vibes the human brain gives off, the emotional help that people give be surrounding you.
In an even bigger thought, and this is why we should never think about it, is that, even though there are almost 6.6 billion people on this earth, these are the only people we know. because, even to our best knowledge, life anywhere but on earth, does not exists. You know why we dont think about this? because when no ones around you, and when the universe is alone, you get the sense that your very tiny. you get a big feeling of unimportance. and thats not true at all. everyone has a purpose. everyone has a meaning. and while some think its to look out there, what you really need to do, is look inside you, to see what the meaning of life is to you. and when you can find your point of existence, and why you were put here, in your mind; you will know the meaning of life. to me, it means a lot. i know my life's meaning, and whether or not no one in the world knows it, or will ever know it, i know what i have to do to fulfill my life, and make it the life i will be damn proud to live. but it comes round circle, because even if i do all the things i have set in my mind, it means nothing if there is no one you can share it with, in any form.
to me, i just need friends who will listen, and right now, im finding them. and i have a couple in mind, at that helps the pain of loneliness leave.

The migrant experience could be a lonely existence because they traveled around to place to place with no real close friends or family. When they were at the camps they couldn't really make real long lasting friends because they weren't going to stay there. I think the character Crooks is one of the loneliest guys on the ranch. Yes, he is not really a migrant worker but since he is black he can't go into the bunk house and socialize with the men at night all he has are his books to read. An example of this is on page 72, Crooks says to Lennie " S'pose you didn't have nobody. S'pose you couldn't go into the bunk house and play rummy 'cause you was black. how'd you like that? S'pose you had to sit out here an' read books. Sure you could play horseshoes till it got dark, but then you got to read books. Books aint no good." When ever I am home alone at night I get lonely. Its not very often that I do but when ever I am I don't really know what to do. But, usually I will watch tv or homework etc. to get my mind off of the loneliness. In a way my loneliness at night is similar to Crooks. But, I could not imagine how lonely a guy must be when he can just sit in one room all night reading a few books with no one to talk to.

Migrant workers experience loneliness for many reasons. First of all besides george and lennie they usually travel alone and without there family. Plus they don't stay long enough to really get toknow anyone and be good friends with them. For example Crooks is very lonely. He is lonely because no one really likes him mostly because he is black. Also, he lives alone so he has no one to talk to at all. In Chapter 4, it shows he is lonely because everyone goes out and they only don't invite him, lennie and candy just doesn't go. When lennie actually talks to him he is very surprised. Loneliness is a part of everyones life but in mine it was in middle school because i never did anything with my friends. I handled it by spending asa much time with them in school as possible. For example sit together at the same lunch table.

P.S. This is so late because i went to the Pistons game and forgot about it till now...sorry
the reason that being a migrant worker could be so lonely is because the move around so much. i that the character that is lonely is candy, because he looses his dog and that is pretty much the only thing in his life. in my life that i was lonely was right after my dad died. before he passed on him and i were very close he was like my best friend. but i was only seven when he died so it was like i was in a world all by my self. to be seven years old and to lose your best fried is one of the wort thing that can happen. the way that i handled it is i started being around my mom more.
