Day 16
Today we discussed the basic things about chapter 2. For this blog, I want you to think a little bit deeper. One of the motifs of the story is following orders. Explain why this may be important when living on the ranch and being a migrant worker. Also, talk about if this style of living can take from one's individuality. Then give an example from your life when taking orders actually helped you in a situation and when it made you question your own sense of self.

I think that taking orders is very important while working on a ranch because people are always giving orders. If you dont follow orders then you could possibly get fired. Then you will be out of a job. I am not the type of person that likes to take orders. So when I got my job, I completely lost my personality. I would go to work and be just like everyone else. I am the type of person that likes to stand out. I like to be hated by someone. I am a very loud person. SO I questioned myself and thought am I really going to let my job totally remove my personality?
Mr.Kay,
When living on this ranch i think it is very important that they all follow the rules and do what their told. Following orders is a really good motif in this book because i think thats probally what most of this book will be about. If people on the ranch dont follow orders i think things could get out of hand and no work could get done. People would be doing their own thing whenever they felt like it. Living on a life stlye like this can also take away from your individuallity. My reason is because since your always working and following rules you never really get to express yourself to much. There have been alot of times that taking orders have helped me in the long run. One example would be when my nana always tells me to have patience. Although i have not yet mastered this quality, i know that if a really tough situation came along i could do what she tells me to do and just relax and have patience.

Taking orders on a ranch is very important, especially when you are a migrant worker. You are depending on this job, and if you do not follow orders, there is the chance that you will lose your job. On a ranch you are given orders to get a certain amount of things done before sundown. You have to follow orders and get things done on time. This style of living can take away from ones individuality because you are being told what to do with your life. You cant express your individuality on a ranch like you can with other jobs. An example in my life where taking orders helped me on a situation was when a group needed to get a job done. Giving orders gets a job done without complications.
I also think that while on a ranch taking orders is very important. You wouldnkt know wut to do if they didnt tell you what to do. Not every thing would get done that need to get done. Living on a ranch as a migrant worker would take away from the persons individuality by them not doing what they want anymore. They would have to listen to other people do what their told. One time that taking orders helped me was when i actually studied for tests. I get alot better grades when i study. i dont like to study its kind of boring but i know it will help me get better grades.

Following orders is important. Even if you're not a migrant worker living on a ranch. It's important because migrant workers needed to be able to follow orders so that they could get paid. Also, it's not just helping themselves by doing so but it's also helping the employer as well. I believe working like this can take from one's individuality. One reason could be that since you're doing work all the time you don't really seem to care about how you look or how you dress. Which, in a way, makes you like everyone else. On the other hand, the guy that was said to have been in George's bed before him dressed like he was going to church ever Sunday. Which made him different from everyone else. A time when following orders helped me would be when my friends told me I should ask this one girl out. At the time I liked this girl, but I was to shy to ask her out. Now, while this helped me it also made me question my sense of self. I'm not a big talker, and i'm usually the one in the back of the room being extremely quiet.

I think following orders is important for living on a ranch or being a migrant worker because so they know what they are doing. Living on a ranch or being a migrant worker can take from one's individuality. I think this because if you are working on a ranch you always are given orders and that means you never have anytime to do anything you want to do. For a migrant worker you are always on the road and you never get to see your friends or family, instead your always on a job. A time in my life when taking orders actually helped me is when my parents told me to take my seizure medication. This made me question myself because I stop taking and I thought it wasn't going to happen again. So after that I start to take my medicine because I want to get better.

It is important to follow orders on a ranch because the people who employ you are trying to help. They don't have to help at all but they do. If you don't follow their rules then they can just let you go and find someone else. They want obedient people who are always there no matter the conditions or works. The living conditons of these migrant workers can take away from their individuality because they are all the same in a way. They work for the same wages and they all move from place to place. They all look the same because of the poor conditions. They have to obey someone bigger than them too which is also degrading. One time that I had to take orders was at camp for many different things. I had to obey what other people said because it made sense. They kept everything under control which I really liked.

Mr. Kay,
I believe that by living on the ranch as a migrant worker, that following directions is very important. If you didn't follow the directions and you were a migrant worker, you could lose your job and have to be transported to another. I think that the style of living can take from ones individuality because depending on the job you get, you might have to use team work and depend on others. It can also take from your indivduality if you have to stay in a bunk house with other people you won't know. Once when I was in 9th grade, I used to really like this guy. He was so sweet, he was always smiling, and he never knew that I existed. I was always the type of girl who would tell the person I like that I liked them. Once he found out that I liked him, he didn't change a bit. That is until people told him that I was not popular and that I was ugly (mostly because of my glasses). My friend told me that I shouldn't care what he thought or anyone else for that matter. She gave me strict orders, and I followed them. To this day I could care less if I'm not popular or that I hang out with wierd friends, because none of that matters. I only care about what I think, no ones going to change my mind about what I should wear or how I should look.
Danielle Turner
When you are on a ranch you need to follow orders go get things done right. If you are the kind of person that doesn't like to take orders then you need to find another job. Following orders while on a farm can also prevent accidents from happening. This life style is really boring. It will most likely take away from your individuality. You end up doing the same old chores every day from sun up to sun down. A time that taking orders helped me whas when I was building my dunebuggy. I was rebuilding the engine and if my dad haden't steped in every once and a while I would of screwed things up a bit. Some times when I'm working on a computer I doubght my self because I am afraid that I will make a mistake.

A migrant worker following orders on a ranch is very important. Jobs were scarce and if you planned on keepinging your job you better follow the rules given. If a ranch was to make a profit there had to be rules put in place to make sure all the work was getting done. Yes, this style of living would take away from your individuality. Everything you do is in accordance with another person's rules. When I was involved in the 30 hour famine we were given rules to follow- no food for 30 hours. By following this rule I was able to feel the hunger that some children have for days. If I cheated and ate, I wouldn't have experienced what others go thru and wouldn't have had that feeling of self-worth.
Being a migrant worker on a ranch isnt that tough, you just have to get the job done, on time, and do it right. thats why the boss tells them what to do, they have to achieve these tasks before the sun goes down. You depend on this job, its the only thing you have. If you dont impress your boss, then they will probably let you go and fine somone that is beetter at it. many of these people back then were steroetyped for lookin alot alike becuz of the way they lived, they couldnt shower every day and they were always tired. they couldnt complain they were getting paid. but all this is bad because they cant show they really are because they are always following the rules and doing the same old job the same way everyone else is. everything is undercontrol. This reminds me of when i was doing lawn work in the summer, when ever i got assigned something they would show me how they wanted it done, even tho i wanted to do it the way i wanted it to, theres was more effient.
steffffffffie
For someone to wants you to work for them, even in this day in age, you need to be able to follow orders. No one wants to hire someone that doesn't know what theyre doing, which is why migrant workers especially need to have this ability. However, I think following orders can take from one's individuality. They are doing what other people tell them, and they are not able to think for themselves. While this is probably the best way to do things, it does not show the uniqueness of someone. One time taking orders helped me was when I was doing a project in school. I wasn't sure what to do, so the group leader had to take charge and tell people what to do. It worked out for the better. A time when I lost my sense of self was when I was told I had to in my house at a certain time. My parents took away all my individuality in that moment and I felt like I was being controlled.
Mr. Kay,
To me, the idea of a motif being following orders is defiantly evident. It has been a couple of times where George makes certain orders clear to Lennie. I think of the time when George tells Lennie to keep quiet and he has a hard time. Nevertheless, it is very important on a ranch because obviously, if someone doesn't, they could be fired or left behind. It would also be really hard to finish jobs as a team without following orders. Living on a ranch also takes away from ones individuality. You don't necessarily get the chance to be an individual. Your spending more and more of your days just working following orders, your not going to want to try to do something different. It is almost like communism and how your told about what jobs you must do so your told how to act. There are many times when I have been given orders that in the end helped me. I don't really remember a certain incident, but I can say that for the most part, the things my parents tell me keep me out of trouble. I have taken many orders though that I have not really cared for nor have I felt there was a point. They make me question if I really need orders, or if I can figure what I should and shouldn't do on my own. This is what I think about living on a ranch and certain problems that can come about.

On a ranch i would imagine following orders would be a big deal. especially if the job you were doing had some risk to it. the stlye of living as a migrant worker would at some points be rather mundane. the same ritual over and over again would become somewhat boring, although the same could probaly be said for any other job. the job itself could take away from ones individuality becuase the job is using you as a blunt intrument in a sense. in my life i follow orders when im doing something for the first time. like something that im not familiar with i could follow directions to complete somthimg i probaly couldnt do on my own.
Andy B, 6th hour
It may be important because if you don't you may be out of a job. You would need to follow them to figure out what you need to do. Also you would annoy everyone else and who employs you. This kind of lifestyle would defiantly kill ones individuality. The fact you have to listen to everything one guy says is the reason. A point in time where I had to take orders is at my job. I had to listen to what I was told to do. Other wise I wasn't going to get paid. Even if it was something that sucked I had to get on with it.

When living on a ranch as a migrant worker taking and being able to follow directions would be crucial. If you cannot take orders thinks will not get done correctly and you may get fired. If you can't orders you cannot survive as a migrant worker because there are always people who want it more or will do it better for less pay. Taking orders can take away individuality because you are told what and how to do certain tasks. A while back I had to clean my dads shop. I was doing it my way and it was taking forever. He stopped me and told me to do it a certain way and it got done quicker and was easier for me to do.

Mr. Kay,
I think that taking orders is more important than people think it is. People think that your are not your own person if you take orders, when that is not necessarily true. Living on a m,igrant workers ranch can be very damaging to a persons individuality. It will get that person used to being around people and things that they canot control. So, in return, they become a person that always follows and doesnt lead ever. One time that I took orders and it paid of is in baseball. I was good for my age coming into high school, but still had a lot to improve. Then I got with my coaches and they taught me some new things that could help me gt better. And in return I got to play at a hgih level. So taking orders really paid off for me.
Tim Wilson
order , chain of command, organization is essential for any work requiring more than 4. Orders are not to be questioned because this is a form of communication. You have to forgo ALL of your opinions to go though the job. Overall I am very quiet about work. I prefer to work alone, for there is no stopping for my partner's opinion and complications of conflictions. There is a con to this, for there is no one checking if I am doing a job correctly. There are many occasions, all ending with the implication of close-mindedness.

When working as a migrant worker, the number one thing to do is always follow all the rules or orders given to you. This is important because if you make one mistake, then you run the risk of losing your job, which is not something you want to do. Also, working as a migrant worker is all about time. You need to get a certain amount of orders done before sundown. So if you do not carefully follow the instructions, then you are also at risk of losing your job. This style of living can take from ones individuality because it is showing how good your work ethic is and how hard of a wroker you can be. If you dont try, or are a lazy individual then you can consider your self done with being a migrant worker. The only example that i can think of in my life, is working in a group activity and having to follow specific orders. I stepped up and leaded the group and did what we were supposed to be doing, and ended up finishing successfully.
Clare Pathe
i find following directions to be a big motive on a ranch because you are givin orders. everyone is told to do a certaian job and is sworn by doing so. this may take from ones individuality because that person bases their decisions off their first beliefs. in my life, i have had many insidents when the true answer to my problem was the one givin to me by someone else and not myself.
just having my jeep i had a decision to make weather i shall put a lift kit on it and then put bigger tires or stay with what it is and go with the biggest tires that will fit. my dad told me just to go with the big tires and not a lift and i made that decision. at first i was upset because i wanted the biggest and best but now looking back im glad i made that decision because i have saved alot of money.

I think following orders on a ranch is key because if you don't follow orders theirs plenty of other people to take your place. As a migrant worker you wan't to hold onto your job as long as possible. I think if you follow orders it doesnt allow you to be yourself sometimes. If someone always tells you what to do you cannot do what you want too. Everyday at hockey practice we take orders from our coaches, which helps the team because we want to be the best we can. In contrast, onee time I had this teacher that didn't listen to the kids at all. He didn't let you talk and i think i was mad because I couldnt talk to my friends and be myself. Sometimes it is good to take orders and sometimes it isnt.

I believe that taking orders is important when being a migrant worker so you can keep your job.
If you wanted to make sure you held your job long enough to make a decent 'living', then following orders given is best.
One person's personality may or may not conflict with the idea of being bossed around.
A submissive worker would make sure they followed every direction, and even over do it. Service with a nervous smile.
A stubborn/stubbourn worker would carry out orders slowly, and possibly get yelled at more for being lazy.
I normally don't like being tgold what to be because I'm headstrong, and try not to let things pull me down. I like the feeling of being in control.
But when I'm told to do something-say, my room, perhaps-I normally refuse until I cant take it and end up grumbling and pouting the whole time. :/ So, I should have just done it when they told me to, and would've spared myself a lecture. But now, it's a "yeah mom/dad" or a "whatever" and I wander to my room.
When I get frustrated over arguments we have over little things like my room and such, I normally make remarks I later regret. And it makes me wonder why I'm a terrible person. I don't try to be mean, but sometimes a snide comment escapes me, and I'm left brooding later for hours on end.

Explain why this may be important when living on the ranch and being a migrant worker. Also, talk about if this style of living can take from one's individuality. Then give an example from your life when taking orders actually helped you in a situation and when it made you question your own sense of self.
I think as a migrant worker it is important to follow orders to maintain your job. I think that the boss likes a woerrker who does what hes told. I tihnk that this can take away someones individuality because it is something where you have no imput, you just do exactly what your told. I think that if we do exactly just this then it would have a negative impact on ourselves because we would rely on everyone else to tekk us how to do stuff. I think back to a time where i was up north riding my dirtbike. My dad told me not to get within 50 feet of him on the corners through the woods. I thought that him being such a stickler on a little thing was saying he didnt trust me as a rider that i couldnt handle my own. Next thiong you know, as i come around a corner, there was 8 dune buggys going well over 60 miles an hour. Thank god i was over to the right so i had time to drive off into the brush and get out of the way, becuase if i was any more towards the center of the road i would have had no time to get over, because the firstt buggy only missed me by 2 or 3 inches. I was very lucky that i followed these orders even though it hurt my pride.
Well taking orders is something you have to do at every job. But it is veryimportant to take orders for migrant workers cuz if they didn't take orders they would be fired and have to look for another job. It can take from ones individuality cuz they don't have a reall long time to be creative with there job and can't settle down and do things they want to do. They have to follow orders and then move on. Well when i first said i wanted to try out for the golf team i was just going to go and tryout. My dad told me to take lessons and by listening to him i became a better golfer and have a better chance of making the team. Another time was when i was doing so outside work. I was doing it my way and was getting it done fast. Then My dad said to do it another way and it took a lot longer and i questioned if his way was better than my own.
Zack Ruffin
You must be able to take orders in order to be a migrant worker. In order to be successful and to keep your job, you must be able to do it well. They will not keep you if you are confused and have no clue what you are doing. Yes, this can take away from individuality. You are grouped up with people and do the same work as people. The bosses treat you like one whole and they expect you to act a certain way. When playing tennis you must follow the orders of the coaches. They have been playing longer and they know what they are talking about, so you have to trust them. When they give an order during a game, you follow it and it always works out better. However, it made question my own self because it's a option between following orders and following instinct.

I think taking orders is the most important part to living on a ranch next to doing all the work as fast as posibble. I say this because you are given jobs to do so you have to be able to actuall do them. Also, to keep your job you have to listen what to do in the field. Plus the companies that are giving you a chance to do good so you need to be able to listen to them even if you don't like it. The style of living does affect one's individualism because they can't do want they want at all. Wth that if they be themselves and mess up their job could be in jeopady. When i was little and was told by my sister to do something it helped me because then i got a new dinosaur or something I wanted really badly. This defintly made me question myself because i thought i didn't have to do anything but i ended up needing to.
Ty Bouwens, 6th hour
It is important to follow orders almost everywhere you go whether you are not on a ranch or not, beacause if you do not listen to people then someone is going to get hurt. But it is more important working at ranch or being a migrant worker beacause you are replacable, if the boss dosent like you then you are gone without a single question. Its that simple you have to get good things going on between you and your employer beacause they can find someone eles very fast. Living on a ranch can take away from your individuallity beacause you cant really show your self in fear that you may be fired, and you work so much you dont have time to show yourself. Once when i am racing a long distance run when i hear someone tell me to go faster or to speed up it helps me beacause it gives me that spark and it useally helps imporve my times. But there is those times when you listen to someone when you know its not right, like the times i help a freind that forgot about their homework by giving them some anwsers, it doses them no good but its just hard to say no sometimes. Its hard to juggle the two sides but sometimes people devere breaks in life, but in most cases they should see the teacher about their work not a freind.
Shaun Gerber
I think taking orders is very importan. Even though as much as you dont want to you have to. If you choose not to then you dont have a job. Every job there is your taking orders. I think that listening to being talked to can take away from who you as an individual. You try so hard to be so right doing this job and befor you know it your somone you dont even know. Well in my job i really dont take orders. I just wash what needs to be wash and get out. thats pretty much it.
Taylor Dieck
6th hr.
Following orders is a skill that everyone needs. Especially migrant, ranch workers. They need these skills because when being a migrant worker you move around a lot, and you always have a set of orders to follow. You have to follow the rules of when you eat, when you sleep, how the ranch is taken care of, etc. Many migrant workers also have to be able to adjust to the orders there are given because they change with the ranch they work at. I think when you are constantly getting orders it can very well alter your individuality, or personality. However I think it really does not change much of who you are as a person. My parents always gave me orders in life that i have to work for things on my own. Not everything I want is going to be handed to me. I think this helps me because I realize that sometimes if i want something, working for it can make the satisfaction much more greater than if it was handed to me.
When living on a ranch as a migrant worker, it is important that you follow orders because you are making your living off of every job you have. If you do not follow orders, you could lose that job and not find work for some time. Also, the workers need to follow orders and work as a team to get the work done in time. I do not believe that this lifestyle takes away from one's individuality. I believe that following orders builds character, not that it takes away from you as an individual. We all have to take orders some time in our life, and it does not make us all the same. Personally, I think it makes me want to be more individual because I feel like going off and doing my own thing. Other times, it can help, because it gets tasks done faster. In classes of mine, I have taken orders occasionally from students who lead the group on a project. You need someone to lead the group so that you can have organization and a successful outcome. On sports teams you have to take orders from your captains and coach. One time I was following orders from one of my captains and running some insane amount of laps while she walked and yelled at us. I stopped and wondered why I was even trying if the person giving orders couldn't give a small effort herself. It made me realize that if I am ever given any authoritative position, I should do what I am expecting out of others. People will not want to follow you if you yourself are not living up to your own expectations.

Being a migrant worker, taking orders is a key aspect of the time.
it was so easy to replace workers that you had to follow orders. If you were resistant or didn't follow their rule, well then you were out of a job. I do believe that this style of living will take away from an individual. people could become as numb as slaves in totalitarian states. constantly following rules of others leave brief time to be an individual. I don't think that its impossible to keep yourself as an individual, just a lot harder. its kind of a lame example, but when i used to dance following orders was important. I always believed that structured dance took away from the artistic part, thats why ive always disliked things like ballet. but i was told that to be able to dance freely you need to learn control, which at the time didn't seem to make much sense. Although i did as i was told, practice my control, and took a lot of ballet classes. in the end it did turn me into a better dancer, but i wasn't truly dancing. I was moving, but they were controlling my movement. I actually ended up quiting dance, and now i dance when and how i feel like it.
Taking orders on the ranch of for any job for that matter is a very important aspect. Whether you know it or not, people are depending on you to get the job done, and if you chose not to, your taking the risk of losing your job. On the ranch, you are given a specific job and you have to complete certain duties before the sunsets, this is a daily thing. Living on a ranch like this, it does take away from your individuality. This is done because, you have orders to follow up on, you can't do your own thing, it's not acceptable in this kind if life style. An example from my life is when I go to work for my dad on Saturday's. Every Saturday, he has a list of small jobs that I need to finish before I'll be able to do anything extra, or take a break. I think that having this job every Saturday is going to help me in the future when I have a real job, and I need to start learn taking orders from people.

Following orders on a ranch is important because it makes your income. If you don't do what the boss tells you, your fired. Some rules may be for safety even. If you make a mistake on a dangerouse piece of equiptment you can end up dead. This style of living makes a big difference on individualism. Your told what to do, don't have much free time, etc... Mainly your stuck. An example from my life would be school work. I'm givin demands to do all the work givin to me but I don't realy want to. After I found out it realy matters what I do in school I changed my mind and listened. I found car insurance rules on GPA now so hopefully I continue so its not as bad. This helps me a lot because without a car there realy is no individual in me.
Taking orders is one of the main things i would think you would have to do on a ranch. Taking orders is so important because you depend on that job for your income. Many migrant workers probably would like to stay in one spot as long as possible because is a steady income. This type of living could take from ones individuality a little bit. It could because you don't get to choose what work you do. they just tell you what to do. But you can still be an individual. For example when they were talking about the man who would dress up every Sunday even when he wasn't going anywhere. He was still himself in that matter but he was a migrant worker. An example of when I took orders is at my job. I take orders from my boss everyday i work. It helps me keep my job and it makes me look responsible. Taking orders doesn't make me question my own sense of self if I take orders from someone who i should. If i took orders from someone who I shouldn't take orders from then that's when I would question my sense of self.

Following orders would be important on a ranch because it keeps the boss happy if you do what you are suppose to do. Also it is to keep you safe from dangers. It lets you work longer there. For migrant worker following orders is the way to keep your job and way to get a reference for a new job. If you live by following orders it will take away some of your freedom. One time that I had to take orders that helped me was when I was told to ware a helmet when skiing. Then a little while later I fell and hit my head really hard while going down the hill.
Follwing orders is important becuase you have to follow the order to get it done right. If people in the ranch dont follow orders i think things wouldnt get done and it would get out of hand. People would be doing what ever they wanted. Things just wouldnt get done when they needed to be. Livng that life style cant take away from your individuality becuase your always following orders so you dont get to really be the real you. An example from my life would be, when my parents tell me to do something i never really listen. Because i hate being told to what to do. But i have now realised that its only gonna help me out in the long run to get things done when they need to be done.
if i was a migrant worker on a ranch i would take order very seriously. if i didn't my saftey or job could be at risk. if you didn't do something right or exactly how they want it done they could fire you and easily find someone else to do the job. also if they told you the process of doing something and you dont follow it you could get hurt or injured. it could take away from your individuality by having you always listen to others. you wouldn't be standing up for what you want. a time when i had to follow orders that benifitted me was when i was told to be my sisters sponsor for her confirmation. my parents "asked" me to do it since my brother was mine. i said i would and i realized that this i a huge deal for my sister and that i should be proud she wanted me to do it.

Following orders is important when living on a ranch and being a migrant worker because your job is to do what you are told and follow directions. If you can't do that then you aren't really a good worker or could get hurt. Then you don't really have a job. Sometimes people give you orders to follow that they really shouldn't be like the black guy. They are really mean to him and just boss him around. I guess it could take away from someone's sense of individuality but if you keep your opinion of things then not really. Anyone telling you to do things can be brainwashing but you don't have to listen to everything when people get out of line. Taking orders from my friends can help me sometimes. They give pretty good advice because they know me best and can usually tell me the right thing to do when relating to other friends. Sometimes I have to question whether all the things they say are right. Some friends don't have whats best for you in mind and listening to them isn't the right thing to do.
I think that it is very important to follow orders. If you dont you are probably going to get fired. It is very important to follow orders as an migrant worker because if you don't you are going to get fired. It also may me harder for a migrant worker to find a new job so they would want to keep the one that they have. You are always sharing your personal space with other people. You would always be told what to do and you would start to lose the feeling of making your own decisions on your own. Sometime when I take orders from my dad and I don't complain on what I am doing he will reward me with some money. He never really does this but when he does it, I follow direcrtions much better.

Following orders on a ranch is especially important. If one doest follow the rules of the boss, your ass is gone. Yes, it can deprive one from their individuality by acting like someones pet and doing work all the time. On the other, hand, you gott do what you gotta do. IN the story, you can kinda see how everyone is pretty plain who havew worked on the ranch for some time. Nobdy really stands out except for curley and his wife, although they dont work much or at all. A time when I had to follow orders was when I was a young boy. A time when I was out with friends and my mom called me to come home. I didnt want to come home because we were all havin fun. I followed mothers orders and came home. Later that night I found out one of the people I was hangin out with had something illegal on him and everyone got in trouble except for me. Thanks mom.

When being a migrant worker, you have to make sure you follow orders exactly. If you dont, you could lose your job easily. When your job could be lost at anytime, you have to make sure you follow everything and act the best. If you live like this for a period of time, i think you would start to become just a normal person. A person thats on the same routine. Or a person that lives the same life with no fun. It would take away from being able to express themself. I take orders from my parents most of the time. Its hard for me to understand that they are wiser, but it helps in the long run to listen to them. Being our age, we may seem like we know it all, but really we dont. We learn from our mistakes as we live life.

well, following orders at work would be priority number 1, at least to me. in order to keep my job of course. keeping your job as a migrant worker would be the best thing to do. now, sometimes, it can take from your individuality, by taking orders from others, but, ya know, you get over it when your getting paid, as long as they are not rude to you. now, at a time, where i am still unclear if it has helped or not, was when i had helped my dad build our new shed. taking orders from him was not really fun, but he did say he planned on paying me. and i know deep down, even though he cant pay now, and probably cant for a while, i know he will set it aside for me. he will do the right thing, so i dont blow it all away. cause i would, then i would be dissatisfied, and then he would say i told you so. GOD i hate when that happens, but GOD, parents are so right almost all of the time.
I think its important to follow orders as a migrant worker. Mainly because if you don't follow the orders you can get in trouble with your work company. also you can lose your job if you do not follow orders that are given to you. Living in this kind of life style can hurt your individuality. mainly because your always on the move and you can't keep your friendships for a long time. In life when taking orders it's good to do when your with your parents and you have to do chores that when you have to take there order's.When you follow her orders you stay out of trouble so it helps with that.
Orders are very important when living on ranch while being a migrant worker because without them you could screw up or not know what to do. I like taking orders, believe it or not but I'm not a very independent person. I guess orders can take away a persons individuality if the orders are too serious and critical... Or if there are too many orders... I can't really think of a time being ordered has helped me but there are many situations i have encountered where being ordered around has made me question whether or not I want to deal with people ordering me around all day...

To live on a ranch as a migrant worker you have to do a lot of work in order to get paid. The boss of the ranch gives the orders and he's the one that pays you so you have to listen or you're out of luck. If you don't follow orders then you are going to get fired and someone else will do the work. This can take from one's idividuality because you always have to listen to other people and you can't follow your own rules. Some people do better when they come up with their own things to do. But by following others you really have no options. I took orders in class to try really hard on a project. My teacher didn't exactly tell me how to do it they just said try hard. I did good on the project and it helped me relize that i should try hard on all of my work.
well this morning Hailey wanted me to check if Ryan did his blog. and i noticed that mine never posted. i hope i can still get credit.
When living on this ranch i think it is very important that they all follow the rules and do what their told. say if you have a job on the ranch. You are depending on this job to stay their and make money. If you don't follow orders, there is the chance that you will lose your job. They want people who follows all the rules and who are always there no matter the conditions or works. The living conditions of these migrant workers can take away from their personal self because they are all the same in a way. well one time i kinda like someone in 6th grade. and all my friends told me to just go talk to him and see what he is like. well i ended up going out with him for a while. I didn't think it would actually work but i listen to all my friends and it worked.
Following orders from the boss in a group is very significant, since it regulates many of the conflicts between the people belonging to the group and promotes the efficiency of work, while, at the same time, it may lead to a social disaster by granting too much power to the leader, who may use the power for an improper purpose. Even in the case of this novel why following the orders among migrant workers is important is the same reason. The only difference is, however, since they're from aliens, until they get credit from the boss, they may get some more of attention. Even the bosses are being tough to workers, once the workers get out of the workplace, they're free. However, migrant workers are not, since they have to stay in the bunker with others all day. This may seriously infringe a person's individuality. In my case of when I had to listen to someone's order was when we were climbing a high mountain as a group. Because if even one person gets injured by disobeying the rules, it may lead to immense damage to the rest of the guys. However since life is not always climbing the mountains, I sometimes happened to question myself, "Why do I have to follow such a gay house rule that my parents made, even they don't keep them?" It was one of the reasons I was once disobedient to my parents. But now, I know why.
i think that taking orders is very important while working on a ranch because the harder you work you could eventually get more money. if you do not follow orders then you could possibly be fired. if that happens then you no longer have any pay coming in. i hate taking orders but if it involves pay then i would do it. if i had a job i would work extra heard so i could get a raise. in a work place anybody that walks into it is totally different. but me i would act my self in my work place.
Orders on a ranch are very important. If you do not follow rules you or someone else might get hurt. I believe that taking orders for so long can effect your individuality. Once you leave the ranch you might now not know how to act out in diffrent pleaces. An example of when I took orders and it had helped me was when I was in the middle of moving and I had to move things exactly where my mom wanted. This made me ask myself if I was not smart enough to find places for things. But then again I would winde up screwing it all up if I did. lol.
