Day 15

Hope you did well on your vocab quiz and grammar quiz. Keep working on your INS. Make sure you are ready to discuss OMAM chapter 2 for Monday.

For this evening:

What is a bunkhouse? What was the bunkhouse like in the book? Describe what you think an evening in a bunkhouse full of people (men or women) would be like? How would feel about living in this type of environment for an extended period of time? Why?

A bunkhouse is where the workers on the ranch live. The bunkhouse in the book is depressing. It has 8 bunkbeds for each the migrant workers and each of the workers has a little cubby above their beds. The workers only have their tolitries and maybe a few other personal items in their cubby. I think living in a bunkhouse for a night would be okay. But staying in it for any long length of time would get annoying. I like to have my own space and not be crowded with others for long periods of time. It wouldn't have been fun for the people in the story because they are there to work and not really relax. It was fun when I stayed in a bunkhouse at 5th grade camp with all my friends for a few days. But any longer than a week or so I wouldn't like.

A bunkhouse is a small building where many people live, usually migrant workers or campers. At springhill, I have stayed in a bunkhouse like that but it had carpet and clean bathrooms close by. In Of Mice and Men, they weren't very nice and used straw for mattresses. Staying at camp was fun for the weekend because I could talk with my friends and meet new people. I wouldn't want to live there for more than a week though. I don't think the men in the bunkhouses in the book had a very good environment. Curly didn't have a good relationship with George and Lennie and he made them mad. It would be hard to live by people that make you mad. I also think that people need their privacy and space sometimes and you can't really have that when you're staying at a bunkhouse.

Mr. Kay,

A bunkhouse is a building providing sleeping quarters on a ranch or in a camp. The bunkhouse in the story had 8 bunkbeds and it also had a sideways box hung on the wall to keep belongings in. The bunkhouse also had a stove and it also had soap, medicine, and more things to keep them okay. If I had to live in a bunkhouse with other people that I dont know I think that I would have a hard time because it wouldn't be anything like what were used to. I believe that it would take me a longer amount of time to deal with getting used to beinggin there. It would take me a while to get used to sleeping with a bunch of people that I don't know and with the whole cooking situation.

A bunkhouse is a small building with bunk beds in it where migrant workers on the ranch stay. The bunkhouse in the book was a small white room that had 8 bunk beds in it and boxes next to the beds for the workers' belongings. There was one door to get in and out of the bunkhouse as well. Staying for an evening in a bunkhouse would be alright. You could get to know everyone living with you and tell stories of your life. I do not think that I would like staying in this type of environment for an extended period of time because people may begin to fight and it would begin to feel crowded. Once you start to live with people for a certain amount of time, you become more easily angered at them, so fights could break out. Also, staying in a one room building for a long period of time would start to feel like you never get time to just relax by yourself. Your room is supposed to be your place to get away from the world for a little bit, so this could lead to being easily aggrivated as well. Too many people in one building for a long period of time is not the best living conditions.

A bunkhouse is a house where many migrant workers stayed when they worked on ranches and farms. In Of Mice and Men, the bunkhouse is a very small and unadorned. The men keep their possessions in box shelves above their beds and the sleep on one of the eight bunk beds in the room. I imagine is was very dusty and bad conditions. I think an evening of people in a bunkhouse ful of people would include playing cards, a lot of resting, and maybe even writing in a journal or something to put their thoughts in. I would definately not like living in a place like this for long periods of time because it would be very crammed, and if someone like Carlson comes along i would be very annoyed. Overall, this is a very bad place to live in for long periods of time. But, that's how the Depression was.

well a bunkhouse is where all the workers live and keep their stuff. In OMAM it says the bunkhouse is dirty and very gloomy. There are cubbys that each worker gets for their personal stuff and the bunk has 8bunkbeds. well when i stayed with people in a "bunkhouse" at first your like yay were all sisters!! its funn you get to know each other, or what they tell you. but after awhile you get annoyed, you might argrue with your roomates, the place could get to be a complete mess. Living in this for a extended period of time would be hard, annoying and dirty. I would not like this because i like being alone a lot, i hate when people are all up in my business and if i lived with alot of other girls they would gossip or just wannt to know what your about. That would piss me off and make me want to leave ha. but if thats how it would be id stick thru it.

A bunkhouse is like a guest house. The main difference is that there's more than one or two people living in it. In the book the bunkhouse seemed very crowded and there was a lot of junk in there too. An evening in a bunkhouse would probably be extremely congested. Furthermore, it seems like it would be hard living in a place like that because you wouldn't know a lot of people, and there's going to be ome people you hate and some that you like. Me personally could never live in a bunkhouse under the conditions these people were under. For one, the beds weren't clean. Secondly, it would seemlike you could never have any privacy in a place like that. For Lennie and George, they kept having their conversations interrupted. I wouldn't be able to stand it.

A bunkhouse is a place were there are many bunk beds were workers sleep. If the workers don't have a house. The bunkhouse in the book sounded pretty big with all of the workers in there. It sounds dirty in the bunkhouse to though. If i were to sleep a night in the bunkhouse i think i wouldn't be able to sleep the first night. But as the days went on i would get more and more comfortable with living in a bunkhouse. I wouldn't like living in that kind of environment. Only because it probably isn't good for your health in the first place. Then you don't have anywhere to shower or get any personal hygiene taken care of.

Three of the walls there were small square windows and in the fourth a solid door with a wooden latch. Against the walls are eight bunks. I think an evening in a bunkhouse with full of people would be like really crowed. How I will feel about living in this type of environment for extended period of time is kind of lonely because I would start to miss my family and friends.

Bunkhouse is a building looks like a small cabin, but usually very humble, that number of people about 10 people sleep in double beds in one room. The bunkhouse in the novel was kind of suspicious of who used it before, and rest of them were same as the definition of itself. Even in a normal house, when it's being crowded with many people, it's very uncomfortable and sometimes even irritating. Besides, if the people are not clean and physical laborers who work and sweat, the sanitation of the room will be even worse. Considering the fact above, it's quite self-evident that they'll have hard time living in small space altogheter with such a unhigenic condition.

There are wooden buckets nailed to the wall next to the bunks to hold personal belongings, which are scarce. The mattresses are made of straw, and it isn't cleaned unless the workers wish to clean it. Living an evening in a bunkhouse full of people wouldn't be bad. I don't mind staying in cabins at camp, and it wouldn't be crowded if I was only there for a day. However, if I were to live in a bunkhouse for a long period of time, it would be a different story. I love to be around people, but after a while I need personal space. It would be difficult for me to spend every minute of everyday with the same people, and with no personal space. More than a couple of weeks and I wouldn't be comfortable living in a bunkhouse. In the book, the men didn't have much of a choice because they needed the work, so they couldn't complain.

A bunkhouse is a house equiped with many bunk beds for sleeping. These are used for ranch hands personal needs like shelter etc. The bunkhouse Lennie and George are in sounds like a nice kept up house. It seemed fairly small and had enough for about 6-8 men. It had a fireplace to keep warm in the winter and cabnits for storage. I think this type of living would be hard filled with a bunch of people. There would be no privacy etc, for anyone. After a wile you would probably just want to leave. Back then you still would not if the job is good and you have a steady income. Overall its not the best but there could always be worse.

A bunkhouse is a barracks-like building that was used t house workers. There was usually a large room with narrow beds. The bunkhouse in the book included 8 beds with mattresses made out of hay. There was a box on the wall that the workers kept their personal items in. The walls were whitewashed and the floors were unpainted. There was a cast iron stove and a big square table in the middle of the room. In the evening it's probably really crowded with a bunch of men sitting around the table playing cards and smoking. I would not like to live in this type of environment. I need my privacy and living out in the open with that many people would not be very much fun at all.

A bunkhouse was the dormitory of ranches. In Of Mice And Men, the bunkhouse was described as a low-grade living space, consisting of two person, wooden bunks. Pressed for space, there's around 10-15 bunks per bunkhouse, depending on size.

There's usually a shelf, or cubby, on the underside of the top bunk to hold the lower bunk occupants' belongings. Since migrant workers won't have many things, there's most likey room to spare.

I think an average evening would revolve around stories from the past and the present. The might play cards, drink, and laugh over good times.

If I was living there, I'd probably have gotten used to restrictive space, outdoor-esque living, and people in general. I'd pobably learn how to take better care of myself, seeing as how I'd become a dirt-junkie a week into living at a ranch. *thumbs up*

Not like I don't do that already though.

A bunkhouse is one open room with many bunks, a kitchenette, and a table. These are normally where the migrant workers were housed. The bunkhouse in the book waas very dull and gloomy. It seems like something dusty and old. I think that one evening an a bunk house would not be fun. I think it would include a lot of bickering and not getting along. I think that these people would all be in bad moods just because they had a shitty job. I think that this would be hard environment to live in because all of the people would be harsh and there would be a lot of rigorous work.

Mr. Kay,
A bunkhouse is a place for migrant workers to sleep and hold their items on the ranch they are working on. It is essentially a bedroom meant to hold a ton of people. In Of Mice and Men, it is written to sound like a torn up corridor, damaged and such and essentially it sounds like if you torn up and ruined a really big room and put beds in it. I don't think I would be able to take that many people around where I sleep and live. It would just be annoying. Maybe the first couple of nights would feel like a party, but after that, it would just be awkward. IN that environment for a long time, I would feel really uncomfortable. I don't think I would like every single person I work with being around me when I sleep and try to go to the one place with solitude. I like the bed and bedroom I am in now. I like having something designated to myself. I like my privacy. I like quietness. To have that taken away would just be the end to me. It would suck.

A bunkhouse is a roughed up building where people who work on a ranch live. The bunkhouse in the book was souly that. It was just a place for the workers to sleep, and keep them busy as the time passed while they were not working. To me, an evening in a bunkhouse full of people would be filled with laughter, fun and things to do, given that most of the bunkmates get along, usually. Living in this type of environnment for a while would be fun at first but after a while I'm sure it would become annoying and quite boring. Over time people get sick of each other. Plus you would have to deal with other people you might not like on a daily basis, but if that's the only way you can surviive and bring in money, then you have to do it. I wouldnt mind it for a while. It would have its ups and downs but it would be a nice, different experience for a while. I could deal with it if I was moving around a lot because it allows me to me meet more people. I could learn how to interact and deal with people more.

A bunkhouse is basically were a bunch of people are living. They are kinda like dorms. In the book, the bunkhouse is crowded and not too clean. It seems kinda gross and tensions must run high. The funiture is not that great, like they sit on boxes and beds are made out of hay. I think an evening full of women would be fun for just an evening. Anytime longer would be chaos. This is because people get by for a night or two and hang out and make it fun. However, when stuff starts to get misplaced and they want time in front of the miror/etc. girls start to get whinny and obnoxious. Everybody would be used to getting alone time and then come there and never be alone. Personalities would start to clash and the true person will come out.

The bunkhouse in the book is small and dirty and old. The auther describes it with straw matress's and boxs nailed to the wall for personl iteams. An evening full of men in a bunkhouse would get load and smelly fast, and crowded. It would be crazy with everyone used trying to get some fresh air and sleep without someone eles sorning. I would not like living in this type of environment for a extended period of time, but if i had no chose i would not fight it as long it is a good reason. I feel this way beacuase it is not fun sharing a room with that many people, but if it was to have food and shelter i would stay there as long as i needed to. I rather live in a house, i would not chose a bunkhouse over a house but find me someone that would and ill give them my straw bed if they want it.

I couldnt imagine living there with a crowd of people. I like to have a large space to put my things and do what I need to do, and I wouldnt be able to do that in a bunkhouse. I might be able to do uit for a while, but not for an extended amount of time. Being with a group of people that you dont really know isnt much fun. I had to do it before, and I didnt like it all because you have nothing in common with them, and on top of that you have to share a room with them and try to get along, which doesnt always work otu how you would like it to.

I think a evening in a bunkhouse could be a fun or negative expirence. You could have a fun time playing a game of cards or something. You could also have a horrible time by getting into a fight. A bunkhouse is where a group of workers on the ranch live. In the book Of Mice and Men, a bunkhouse isn't such a great place to live. There is hardly enough room to breathe, there are 8 bunk beds for the workers. Each bunk bed comes with a little cubby to place some of their belongings. A evening in a bunk house would be fun, annoying, irritating, and boring. This is because, everyone would be in everyone else's business (for women that is), and their would be drama, because whenever there are girls, there is drama, that is a given. Although, it would be annoying, it would be fun as well. Sometimes girls just need to be with other girls, to laugh, to cry, and to talk about stuff that's on your mind. Personally, I wouldn't really like living in a bunkhouse. When I went to a summer camp, the cabin was big, so that was alright. Also, when I went to Camp Dearborn with my friend Sam, that was fine too, because you were rarely in the cabin. If I had to be in a cabin for a long period of time each day, with a whole bunch of other people, I wouldn't like it. Just like a lot of other people, I like to have my own space.

An evening in a bunkhouse at first would probably be like living in a dorm room, but after the next days it would be really annoying. I would not enjoy living in a crowded place with a lot of people, it would get old really fast. Especially for a long period of time you would have no privacy and that would be terrible. I would not last very long in this situation for a long period of time.

There would be a lot of things breaking. I would feel insecure because I would be in a room jam packed full of people I dont know very well. If I were in Lennie and Georges position, I would want to try and avoid curley, although its hard too because theres not many places to hide and try to avoid his p;roblems.

In my opinion living in a bunkhouse might be fun only if itwas a temporary time period. Living with alot of people like that would probally get annoying after a while. I think it would all depend on the people i have to share with also. If i am staying with people that i have never met before i dont htink i would handle that well because i wouldnt know if i liked them or not. a bunk house is where people go to relax or sleep when they are either working somewhere, or where they may be camping. Now in the book, the bunkhouse was described as pretty much a s**thole, like everything else then. now, and evening could be either good or bad, depending on how many people are in there, and how hard they worked. cause if they worked a lot, but there was a lot of people, it would probably be nice and calm, cause everyones so tired from work. on the other hand, if it was a bunch of lazy people who done nothing that day, well, people could be up all night.
but if i had to live in that time period, i would sure as hell the people around me were (1). People i liked, and/or did not hate me, and (2). the people around me would respect my wants to sleep for the possibly strenuous day ahead. now if i had to be there a long time, i am sure 1. would not be an issue, hopefully, because everyone would know everyone, and that they would separate the house into who sleeps, and who stays awake, plus we would have rules of how loud we can be. but, overall, unless it were maybe 4 people to a room or less, it would suck being there, cause you would not have any personal time. just time to think about the life ahead, without being bothered. but i would make the best of it, as i do with any situation given to me.

There was no room what so ever, and all you had was a bed and a cubby above you to put your belongings. I think i could handle living in a bunkhouse for one night or a couple of days, but thats about it. I would feel so claustrophobic over time, because of all the people crammed in one place. Also, i like having my own space to put all my stuff. And having to share my space with people would get annoying for a long period of time.

They have to use hay bills and straw to sleep on.i feel an evening at the bunk house would not only be really cramped but dirty. there would be tons of people cramed in a small place and it would smell from all the people along with it being very sad knowing that inorder to keep your life together thats all you could do. i would not feel very good about this along with everyone else. i wopuld be very hungery and tired all the time. i can just imagine all of us sitting around tellig stories to one another.

a bunkhouse is somewhere migrant workers stay when they are working for someone. They are small and they hold around 8 or more people. They people all sleep in bunkbeds and are clustered together. In the book everyone has a box where they keep their valuables. No one has a lot of things because they are traveling so much. I wouldnt be able to stand living in a small space with a bunch of people because I generally hate people I dont know. An evening with a bunch of people would be okay because I wouldnt talk to anyone. I would probably sleep outside if I had to share for a long amount of time.

A bunkhouse is where people stay or sleep. Generally for workers. The bunkhouse in the book is small and cramped. I would never like to stay in a room with others that is that small. I think an evening with all those people would be depressing. We would all be too close together. I think i would die if i had to live in a place like that. I like my own personal space and privacy. Maybe its just because of what im used to and its what i have grown up with. I could never stand camps when i was a kid. I love having a room to myself, and i always will.

A bunkhouse is somewhere for people to sleep and live. Most of the time its for workers. In the book the bunkhouse seemed small and dirty. With only 8 bunkbeds, it seems like it would be pretty cramped if they were all filled. It sounded like there had been roach problems in the bunkhouse before or other insect problems. An evening in one of these bunkhouses would be annoying. Listening to people snore and having people going to the bathroom in front of you would be veyr aggrivating. I wouldn't like being in a bunkhouse because I like to have my own space. Getting any privacy would be very difficult to do in a bunkhouse.

A bunkhouse is a living space giving to migrant workers on a ranch full of men and women. The bunkhouse in the book had eight bunkbeds and a cubby above for thier belongings. It seems very depressing. I think that an evening in a bunkhouse would be kinda fun for the first night becuase you get to meet new people and share stories. It would be like a giant slumber party. If I was forced to live in this type of environment for a long period of time, just so i could survive then I suppose that it wouldn't so bad. It would be hard to get used to and annoying always having people in your personal space. I wouldn't like this one bit.

A bunk house is kinda like a cabin i guess. Its a small livinng space for the migrant workers. The bunk house sounded like it was small and kinda dirty. It had 8 bunks one for each worker. Each bunk had a cubby for the workers personal belongings. I think that living in a bunk house for a week might be ok. You wouldnt really know the people though so it might be kind of weird. I think i wouldnt like living in a bunk house. I wouldnt know any of the people. It would prolly be dirty in there too.

sorry my blog is late. I wasnt home all weekend i was out of town and had no way to get on a computer.

How would feel about living in this type of environment for an extended period of time? Why?

A bunkhouse is a small place where a few people, or more, are put into to live for usually a short period of time. The bunkhouse in the book was not very large and sort of nasty-ish. a bunkhouse full of people would be horrible to stay in. Lot's of fighting and very smelly I would imagine. I would go absolutely insane if i had to live in a bunkhouse for a while. first off I'm not a people person what so ever. Second off I am very claustrophobic. third off I need my privacy. 4th of all I hate it when people touch my stuff. So a bunk house is not something I would ever even consider for myself.

A bunkhouse is where in the story the migrent workers would sleep. The bunkhouse in the story was I believe a twin size bed and had a box on top of the bunk where you could store your items. I think being in a bunk house with either men or women would be a handful. I don't think very many people would get a long. And if they do get a long it would be a little too well. I would not want to stay in that enviornment for too long. I like my space away from people.
