Day 18
Tonight I want you to tell me who it is that you chose for your speech topic. Why did you choose this influential person? Why do you think that they are an influential person? What types of issues have they become involved in that would insinuate that they are an activist? Remember, your speeches will be based on how this individual has been influential through social activism, not so much on their histories and life experiences.

For the speech i chose oprah winfrey. I chose her because so many people are influenced by what she talks about on her shows. Oprah has been involved with just about everything there is. I think oprah is a great influential person because she gets the word out to people. she is involved with so many activist projects and basically everything. She really makes it clear what she wants out of society. She has influenced so much of society because of how big of an activist she is.
For my influential person I chose Sandra Bullock. I chose Sandra because she has always been an inspiration of mine and is so strong through what she has overcome. As an activist she is very, very generous and very helpful. Through the years she has donated millions and millions through out the world to help solve our issues. Especially natural disasters that hit our nation and others. She is an extremely strong but giving person and I admire that more than anything. Even though she is going through her own issues in her personal life she still takes the time to give and help other and make a difference in our world.
The person I chose was Robert Pattinson. I chose this influential person because I think he is a good actor. Plus I heard on Oprah that he was named one of the top 100 so I wanted to research him and do a report on him. He is influential because he tells people that no matter what you do you can always reach for your dreams. He lets people know that you can do whatever you want to do. Plus he plays Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga. (That makes people more interested in him)
i chose Barack Obama as my topic. i chose him because i no he inspired tons of people and he gave great inspirational speeches.he has inspired many people to help change the united states. also he will be a pretty easy topic to right a speech on. he has become involved with all the nations issues, like health care, and the war. he defenitly is an activist because he is acting on all the nations issues to try to make the country a better place.
My influential person that I chose to do a speech about is Hayley Williams. She has done many things to participate in social activism, such as the support group called to write love on her arms. It's for girls who are troubled and hate themselves. She supports finding the true meaning of living for young girls, and in the end getting them to love themselves for who they are. She writes amazing lyrics that tell a story in every song, and she tours all around the world. Hayley Williams is truely an inspiring and influential person.
For my speach i chose Ben Stiller.I chose him because i look up to him , he is a great actor and comedian. I think he is an influential person because he has helped alot of people and with charity work he is very giving and thoughtful and caring. Ben Stiller as helped raise money or Idol gives back 2 years in a row. He helped raise money for kids in Africa who dont have much pretty close to nothing. I'm pretty sure he went to Africa one year to see some of the children in Africa for the Idol gives back. Also his reputaion in Hollywood as an actor and director has made him ne of the infulential people.
for my social activist project i chose Al Gore. I chose him because he has obviously affected the world, and won a Nobel peace prize doing it. i think he is very influential mainly because he wants to clean up the earth and is doing something about it. the issues he has been in to is global warming everybody knows it but a lot don't believe it like me. he has won many awards talking about this subject and is an icon to so many people. he also ran for president but failed by losing the electoral votes. this is my social activist and cant wait for my speech.
One person I thought was very influential was Katie Couric. Not only is she a news anchor and reporter on one of the biggest broadcast news in the country, she also does community work. Just today I read an article about how her and her 2 daughters went to a soup kitchen type place and helped out there. She has also started a hunger program to help the hungry. Her job working as a broadcaster can be very dangerous but she puts herself out in the world so we as viewers can see what's going on. She is very determined and gets the job done. To me she is a very influential person.
The person I chose was Chelsey Sullenberger. This is the guy who landed that airplane in the Hudson River a while back. I picked him because he is a good guy and very well respected for all of the lives he has saved. He shows people that everyday, ordinary people can do extrodinary things. He also is a hero in the eyes of America and can be used to do great things for this world.He is an activist for getting airline safety better and spoke to Congress about this issue. Even though he is a hero, I may change my person because he isn't that influential in the world but I'm not sure.
I chose Alicia Keys because the songs she writes expresses her feelings soo much.I think she is influential because many people take her lyrics seriously and it helps them with things. She has been involved in writing songs since she was a young girl. She is known to have amazing capabilities. Many people are influenced by her problems she has gone through and the power she gives through her music. She has been involved in the Keep a Kid Alive foundation and making the top winners being able to go on a trip with her.
For my activist, I chose Prince. Prince is an old, well known music artist. He sang, and played guitar and some of his hit tunes were Purple Rain, Little Red Corvet, and Rasberry Beret. He changed the way music is performed with his confident stage presence. He also was a major uprise in the feel good, hip/hop music genre. As the R&B artist, Usher, says on the Times website that Prince was his childhood idol even over Michael Jackson because of the magical presence he said Prince has. I am excited to learn more about Prince since I am so into music and I am happy with my choice and new knowledge of how Prince changed the way music is portrayed even today.
I chose Simon Cowell. I chose him because a lot of people know who he is. Everyone knows him for being the mean judge on American Idol. But in my speech i am going to explain that he really isn't all that mean. He has actually done a lot to help with global issues. Simon helps other countries like Haiti when it had a hurricane. Also he change America a lot. He created American Idol, which became very popular, very fast. After this singing show, many other shows came out about dancing or other talents. Simon changed the lifestyles of many Americans.
For my speech I chose Marc Jacobs. I chose this influential person because I really love Marc Jacobs' originality and freedom with his designs. Jacobs is a a big hitter for Breast Cancer Awareness. in his new line called Marc by Marc Jacobs, he created a trendy bracelet with pink and silver detailing.
. He puts most of his charity efforts towards Breast Cancer research and awareness. Jacobs has created numerous items for Breast Cancer awareness, I'm not sure why Jacobs has such a soft spot for Breast Cancer but I'm sure I'll find out soon!
I think that moot is a very influential person and made a big impact on the world. I think that he is very fluential because he changed one of the most used things today, the internet. What makes him an activist is taking charge and making people realize what the internet is all about. He is trying to get people off the computers and outside getting excersise and doing something fun. He has done many things to take action and try to enforce this as widesread as he can. He is very fluential and many people look up to him in the world and in the world of science because he made a big change. Moot is a very important part of this world and changed the world as we know it.
For my speech I chose Taylor Swift. I chose her because she is very influenctial. She has over come a huge challenge to become an artist. To become and artist it is a one in a million chance. She has produced many different songs. She can over come stage fright and can perform in front of all kinds of crowds. She also has a ton of fans and everyone adores her. She is young and has her whole life ahead of her. At her age she is already on the list of top influental people and can keep going up the list.
i chose george clooney, and the reaso i chose him is because i think him as a person is influentialthen the things he does like is and all time patriot for america and all the good things he trys and does for us.the things he has help do is support our charities and support america as it self and all the peoplethat come with it. like he has also raised money for charities and started his own as a patriot of the u.s of a. george clooney is also an social activists because of how he has hel fund raisers for the pour and the less fortunate people around which shows how he socially tries to help bring the economy and the u.s up with it.
For my speech, i chose Lea Michele. Not very many people may know who she is, but she is on one of my favorite shows, Glee. I think she is an influential person because she is an inspiration. She is very talented and many people look up to her. She has been involved in PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which is an animal rights organization.
For my speech i choose Stella McCartney. What made me choose Stella was her list of accomplishments she has achieved throughout her career. Her status may be low profile but she has most definitley made an impact on the modern day fashion industry. Her dedication to the fashion industry and clothing lines around the world have proved her to be an inspiration to many. As a wife, mother and business owner Mrs. McCartney is a role model for girls everywhere. In her career she has designed multiple lines for stores such as adidas, gucci, chloe, H&M, target and many more. Stella is a firm believer in the values of PETA. Her refusal to design anything with real fur or leather has shown her dedication to this cause.
For my speech i chose jet Li. I chose him because he is a bad ass martial artist and i dont really know much about him. An i thought he looks alot like jackie chan. I think they are influential because he set up this profit orgasnization to help chinese because of natural disasrters. LI has become involved with the community and children of china and singapore. Li has also helped china with the education of the children and to help rebuild the economy of china. Li believes if everyone donated 1 dollar a month china will be very prosperous in less then 2 years.
