Day 27

I hope you find something of interest in "The Crucible." I think that it is somewhat fascinating that this event occurred in America and that we can still relate to it today.

For this evening, I want you to find something or someone that you found interesting in the play. Talk about how that event or person caught your attention and how it made you think more deeply about the play and about history. What is the message that you take from this story in regards to it application to us as Americans currently? To get the points for today, you must refer to 3 incidents and those impacts on the event or the person you have chosen.

I think the most interesting person in this play was Abigail. She was so different and the main probelm was caused by her. She caught my attention because it doesn't seem like the puritans would do the stuff she did. They seem so strit and like they are against all that. The way Abigail acted made me realize that people today act the same way. One incident that happened was the fling that John Proctor and Abigail had. Another incident that happened was her getting caught in the woods dancing. The third incident was when she drank a charm to kill Goody Proctor. She was being selfish and only thinking about herself. Because of all this it pretty much ruins her reputation. Everyone started not believing waht she was saying. The citizens of Salem started looking down on her.

there are many insterseting people in the the play but 1 stands out. Abigale was definitly the most interesting person in the play. I found it crazy how easy it was for her just to acuse people and in effect have them killed. and she new all of them! Also how she just through Tituba under the bus and calling her a witch when she was helping her out. and how she would kill johns wife for her. She probly wasint the nicest person in the world. And they were all christens so it surprised me with the thow shall not murder and everything. This shows me that some people were pretty crazy back then and evin if your a hardcore Christian dusint mean your a good person.

In the play i found John Proctor instersting. John plays inimportant part because geting with him is what fuels Abigal. Because John stop haveing affiar with Abigail the girls was out danceing in the woods so Abigail could drink the charm to kill goody procter. Another thing John does is not beliving there is even witch witch helps to get Revrin Hale to think theres no witches. The final insident was not signing his name. The reason this caught my eye was that the church and court is not always right. What i take away from reading this play is that you can not always belive what you hear.

Someone that I found interesting was Parris. He made The Crucible more interesting because he is just so self-absorbed person in the play, and his need to always be right makes me want to know more about him. It made me think more deeply about the play because without him, there would be no Abby and so none of the scandal with the witch trials would happen. The message that I take from this story is to never lie, even if you think it's the right thing to do. You should stick up for what you believe in and if it's that important to you then you should be okay knowing that you died for something that you believed in. One incident that first made Parris stand out to me is when his daughter was sick. The whole time he wanted for his daughter to wake up so he doesn't look bad because his daughter is a witch. Another incident is when they are in court and Danforth questions Proctor. Parris keeps throwing out obscure things to the judge and he is once again concerned about himself. Finally I think that Parris made a breakthrough at the end of the play. When he saw Proctor coming out of his cell, he almost felt bad for him and offered some cider because he knew that Proctor was about to get hanged.

I found Mr. Proctor to be interesting. He was interesting because he had an affair and no one else knew but his wife and Abigail. I take the affair as a message that some people now are not very different from people back then. During the trials he admitted to have an affair in order to save his life but destroy his reputation. This shows hed rather build his reputation up than die for something he did not do. He also stuck up for people more than just his wife during the trials. He had the opertunity to save his wife and he kept fighting for the others. In the end of the story he got hung because he would not the the paper to say he admitted. Doing so would have had chaos because he was a well respected man and if he was a witch then anyone could have been. Overall John Proctor was not selfish and really cared for the community and he stuck out from all the others as a hero.

i think john procter was the most intresting person in this play. he was a man who had strong belifs and felt sorry when he broke them himself. he cought my attition because he seem simlair to the modern day. his sentences were easy to understand and he seemed like a kind person. one incedent was he had an affair with abigal.another was that he kept his belifs his whole life and ended up calling himself a hipercrit.last was he was a kind man who never intened to harm any one. that is why i think john procter is the most intersting.

I believe that the most interesting person in The Crucible would have to be Reverend Hale. He apparently found a case of witches in the village that he came from. He had come to Salem to help "cure" a couple girls. I thought that he was interesting because he ended up having a change of heart by the end of the play. He tried to help John Proctor stay away from the noose. It attaches to todays society by lawyers standing up for their clients. Hale also wanted to stop the court from hanging people.

The person in this play that i found interesting was John Proctor. I thought he was interesting because his actions to me were unexpected. In the beginning i characterized John as a selfish man who just wanted to cheat on his wife because that is what he did with Abigail. This made an impact on John because his wife secretly knew about his affair and that is what got Abigail fired from working for them. Another time was when John admitted to cheating when he was in court. This proves that John was willing to tell the whole truth to try to let the people and God forgive him for his sins. He wanted to live so he could make his life better. The last example of this was when John stood up for his friends' wives that got accused of being a witch also. He could have just left it alone once he got his wife free but he was willing to stick up for everyone else. This is what a good man of today would do as well. John Proctor stuck up for all the town's people and this proves that he had a lot of heart.

The something that I found interesting about this whole play is people and the extent they will go to just to protect their reputation. This caught my attention very easily throughtout the whole thing. First of all, I mean everyone wants to protect their reputation and how people think of them, but it is shown very strongly int this play, and not only from one of the characters, from just about all of them. This plays just goes to show that times have dramatically changed, but people are still generally the same as they were 300 years ago. I think that one big example or incident that shows this is how worried Parris is about his daughter Betty having witch-craft. I mean, he was more concerned about her having that then he was about her acutal being and how she was feeling and what not. A second one is when they want John Proctor to sign the piece of paper saying he confessed. He did not want to sign that paper no matter what. He did not want they towns people to know about his affair, because that was then, and this is now and he is a changed person. But still, he refuses to sign it. And the last one is when Parris is trying so hard to enforce the witch trials so that he doesn't sound like a clown for starting all of this drama. He is one of the main reasons that these terrible things are happening. When they would get another clue that the people were innocent, he would always make his little comments for people to think about to show that he is still right about all of it. I just think that how people react to a bad reputation sometimes is rediculous, and it still is to this day and age.

I found Abigail to be very interesting. She is the person that basically started the whole witch hunt. She started making up things that happened, and blaming others for something that was a lie. When thinking about the play I was wondering how it was so easy for one person to start so much drama. Abigail kind of messed up Proctor's life. They had an affair and when he tried to end it, Abigail started messing with him. Abigail also influenced the other girls to lie. She was pretty much the evil boss that told everyone else what to do. She was not a very nice person.

To me the more intresting person in this play would be john proctor. I read his parts for 3 out of the 4 acts so i paid most attention to him. It was intresting that he had an affair with abigail. Even more intresting was that he was the only one that tried to get his wife out of the jail. This made me think that john is areally good person and really cares for his wife. I believe the message is take the consiquences for what you have done and don't go and blame others. The last intresting event that jonh was apart of was when he was getting hung. He did confess but never signed the papers saying he did. So they hung him anyways, because he wouldn't sign.

I enjoyed reading The Crucible and I learned lessons from the characters. The one person who touched me most was John Proctor. He did a few things that caught my attention and made me respect him as a person. First, he stayed true to his heart and he had an affair with Abagail for the reason that he wanted to. He was out to make himself happy, and I do respect that. Another thing John did was to decide to end the affair, because it was not fair to Elizabeth. He also wanted to respect her after what he has done and he only wanted the best for her. John also would not let his name be used in the future as a disgrace after he was to be killed. This was a very smart move to protect his own reputation and to show everyone that he was a man that always stayed true to himself and always tried to do the right thing. John Proctor was the most interesting and noble character in my eyes and I'm quite sure that my fellow classmates would agree.

In the crucible there are many people. One i found the most interesting is abigail. I found her interesting cause it seems odd to think of a teen hooking up with a married man in those times. It seems very unpuritan like. This made me think more deeply because more people can relate to that situation in our time rather than theirs. The message i take from this story is save others before yourself. I think this can apply to us becaue most of us need to be this way. Were so busy saving ourselves that we are being selfish and not thinking of others. First off Abigail hooked up with Proctor. This impacts the story a lot because this whole thing of with hunting wouldnt have started if it wasnt for their burning passion of the moment together. Second she is found dancing naked in the woods. This action made the puritans question many things so she was under alot of pressure and started lying. Third she started yelling off names of random people so innocent people were accused of being witches and named off other people causing a huge witch hunt.

The person i thought was the most interesting person was Reverend Hale. The girls of Salem village had experiences dancing with the "Devil". Reverend Hale gets called in from his past experiences with clearing the Devil from peoples souls. After Abigail and the girls start speaking about what happen, Hale realizes that there are more then one devil possessed soul and was thinking, "Yes, i get to make a good name for myself in Salem. I'm going to make a living off of this!" Then, Goody Proctor gets accused and John Proctor tries to protect her, but ends up getting accused himself. Hale has a change of heart. Hale is thinking, Having all these people dieing isn't worth my success. Hale gives Proctor a chance to live, but proctor doesnt want to give in and dies. The message i get from the crucible is to not be quick to blame people for something that happens, god has a reason for everything.
