Day 26

Today we shall do our last current event blog for the semester. The key to this one is that there can be no more than 2 blogs on the same story (this way I do not need to hear about Haiti from every person as I know what a tragedy it has been). NO CITE, NO POINTS.

Obama is our current presidant you know.Today there was a launch of the first white house app for the itouch and iphone. The free app features live streaming of all the presidents public events at the White House Web chats with Administration officials and other events such as the daily press briefings.I think is is really dumb. Now if someone really wants to kill him they can just hack into the app and find where he will be and at what time. Also whats stopping hackers from messing with the information on the app site.i think this app is very bad for the presidant and might end up getting him killed

The election for a new massachusetts senator happened on January first 2010. This electon was very close and the winner, Scott Brown, won with 52% of the votes. This election was a very big deal. If the democates had won most of the house would have been filled with democrates. Therefore the president, a democrate, could do almost what ever he wanted because of the power of their votes. The republican candidate won the election which is a very good thing. This is good because people are going to have to think about how they are going to vote for bills to be passed in the house. This evens out the house a little more so that everyones vote is special and could be the difference. This relates to me because if their were more democrates and they all voted for something the president wanted it might not be the right thing for anyone.

Yesterday a very important event happened. Massachucets, who has been a democratic state for a really long time and for them to vote a repblican into the senate, is a big deal. Scott Brown was elected yesterday to fill the spot of late senator Edward Kennedy. The importance of Brown being elected in is that now the health care bill can't just pass through without a vote. We have a chance now to eliminate the bill, what doesn't make sense though, is why are the democrats trying to rush this bill through without a vote? Isn't the government suposed to do what the people want? The people do not want this health care bill to pass. Hopefully now that this "used to be" democratic state voted republican, it will help Obama realize that he is losing popularity greatly. This effects my community because if he doesn't realize that he is doing something wrong and he decides to pass the health care bill, then my family could loose a lot of money and it could effect the way i live greatly.

Pharmaceutical company, GSK has been working on research to boost the malaria fight. They have found tons of data that could help prevent malaria. Some experts are saying that it could lead to discoveries like the human genome project. I think this is good for our community because many people can be saved each year if we can find more info to prevent malaria. Yes, I do believe that there are more important things that we could be studying and finding cures for but this is still an important finding. I would hope that in the future we could use this to find the cure for cancer and save lives. Will our advances in technology I'm really confident we can pull it off.

our President Barack Obama he has made 5 decisions to defined President Obama’s first year. his frist one was The "Closing" of Gitmo. this i think was bad because why put all the super bad poeple that tryied to hurt america back into america. the second thing was Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor i think that this was a good thing so that way we can have more races as judges. the third thing is Taking on health care reform. i think that is a bad thing because i think his plan isnt that great of a plan. the fourth thing is Two surges in Afghanistan. i think that this is a good thing because the war with iraq and afghanistan are stablizing.the last thing is The economic stimulus package i think that this is a bunch of bull and that it should never had happen. that is how i think president obama is doing so far.

The current event I chose is "Democrats scramble on health care after GOP win." It talks about how the Democrats are going over many options to pass a health care bill. If the House passes the Senates bill then it will be sent staight to Obama for signing. I think this bill should be passed. Not everyone has health care and can pay for it. There are people out there who go without helath care because they can't afford it and I think if this bill is passed it will help many people. Allthey need is 51 votes and the bill will be passed. This bill will help many people.

Today was not a good day for former mayor Kwamee Kilpatrick. Wayne County Circuit Judge David Groner ordered Kilpatrick to pay $319,000 to the court within three months. For Kilpatrick this must suck really badly because that's a lot of money to just be wasted. But on the plus side, it shows how justice can be served and if you break the law then you will get in trouble. Also, all this money has to go somewhere and it will most likely go to the government of Michigan and so that can help us out a little. I'm not saying that people should commit big crimes like he did but even though all this scandal and controversy went down, at least Michigan gets a cut of it. I hope Kwamee learned his lesson and this won't happen again.

Many of the creatures on earth have gone extinct or endangered and many have this fate ahead. Richard Black has declared an earth watch due to the stunning results of some species progress. frogs and salamanders are slowly depleting in population for several reasons. one reason is because of human progress like expansion and farming with poisonous chemicals. Another species we are watching is bees, the reason for this is because bees need multiple food sources to produce amino acids which later fight off diseases. since the bees are now feeding off of crops and pollinate the plants around them with the crop they eat from. so if the bees do not get the multiple sources then all it takes is one disease to make the bees drop like insects. this is how Richard Black concluded his hypothesis of earth watch.

The title of the current event that I found is "Boy, 5, pulled alive from rubble in Haiti." Eight days ago there was an earthquake in Haiti. Today a miracle was obtained. A 5-year-old boy was pulled alive from a collapsed home Wednesday, eight days after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake devastated Haiti. It was unclear whether the boy, named Monley, had access to food and water, but doctors attributed his survival to resilience and the strength of his young body. It is so amazing that this kind of thing can happen. I wiish that miracles like this would happen everyday. Hopefully others will be rescued like this little boy.

"Verizon and AT&T, the two largest cell phone carriers in the U.S. are gearing up for a price war over cell phone service fees."
I believe that this competitive war going on between these two companies is extremely beneficial to customers around the country. The more they battle, the better it is for anyone with a cell phone. Pretty soon, prices will be so cheap and we will all be happy. Wouldn't it be nice to spend the money else wear and still have a nice phone service plan? We can only hope that this battle continues and gets heated. As prices get lower, it is harder for the companies to manage their business. Less profits may mean less quality in the phone plans. People just need to make all around wise decisions.

The end of Johnny Depp is not in the near future. The 4th "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie is set to start filming soon. The location of the movie will be in Hawaii. This is the third big-money film to announce that they will be filming in Hawaii this year. The other two movies would be "Hereafter" by Clint Eastwood and "The Descendants" staring George Clooney. This announcement is good for our community because many people are excited and waiting for this movie to come out. Personally, i am pumped up for this movie to come out and will try and see it on opening day.

Dengue Fever: Another American Health Crisis? Dengue Fever is a mosquito-borne disease that was only found in Central America and Asia. Now the disease has spread into the states but with all the rucus of H1N1 flu it got very little attention. If this doesnt get attention it can get out of control in the States. This disease spreads very quickly. Without the attention many people will end up getting sick and doctors will not know what is wrong with them. For more info:

As we all know, or most of us anyway something terrible has recently happend. An awful earthquake has hit Haiti. This ad is talking about how you can help those who are stuggling in Haiti. An estimate of 200,000 people have died from this horrible tradegy. People like us in the U.S. take money for granted and buy useless things everyday, while your money can go to people who have suffered through an earthquake and no longer have nothing. This relates to our society so well right now. Oviously Haiti needs help, they need money and doctors and other things, any things that can help them surivive this. This article talks about simple things that you can do to show you care and help them out. The smallest amount of money can help them so much down there, every little bit counts. I think that it would be so wonderful if everyone just donated even a dollar to help them, like i said, ever little bit helps out in so many ways.

Virginia has experienced a very bad killing that devistated many families. There were 8 people killed by one person with a high powered rifle. This is a big deal because it effects many people in Virginia and around the US. This goes to show that you can never be to careful with locking up your house and security. It only takes one mistake and a mass killing could happen like this. The Virginian police did a good job of capturing the man who did this. This is why it is important to have plans and lock up at night.
