One of the factors that drive stories is when characters have both internal and external conflicts. For this evening's blog, please choose a character and discuss their external conflict, who it is with and how it drives the story and then tell of their internal conflict. Make sure you do not just repeat what others say or choose a different character than others so they are not to similar.
Have a great long weekend.

One of the characters that had internal and external conflicts throughout the story was John Proctor. His external conflict was that he was trying to get Elizabeth out of jail and out of being hanged, but he's the one that ended up in jail. Now he is the one close to being hanged instead of Elizabeth. It is with the court because they are so determined to hang all of the people that they barely give him a chance to speak. He does not want to die, and i don't blame him, who would want to die? This drives the story because this is what it is all about, the courts wanting so bad to find people who they think are witches and hang them. His internal conflict is that in the end when he doesn't want to give the signed document back to Danforth. He doesn't want to whole town knowing that he confessed. He wants to keep his good reputation with the town and all its people.
One of the characters in the Crucible that has to deal with external and internal conflicts is John Proctor. John had the external conflict with Abigail. She still wanted to be with him but he knew it was wrong for him to continue to cheat on his wife. So throughout the whole story he is trying to avoid Abigail and she countinues to tell people that his wife is a witch so she can get with John. His internal conflict is when he decides to not sign the contract because he doesn't want to lie to God. He is debating between dying a sinner, or living as a sinner. But he has told himself that by dying for what he believes is right, that God will forgive him and he may die a saint.
A charater that had internal and external conflics was Reveren Hale. One of his internal conflicts was that so many hangings was his and the courts fault. An external confict for him was how to save some of the good people of salem form being hanged. Another internal conflict was that he felt like an exactioner instead of a reveren. Another external was that he was trying to prove that there was no witch in salem. The last external was trying to get the people who where about to be hanged to confist and the courts trying to stop him. Reveren Hale had many internal and external conflicts through out the story.
A character with both internal and external conflict in the play is reverend hale. originally his external conflict was finding witches and prosecuting them. but when he became doubtful of there being witches in salem thats when his internal conflict started. He felt unsure that this all had to do with witchcraft and wanted to find out. he started feeling guity for having thous people hung when he wasint for sher they were witches. then for more external conflict he was trying to get the other judges to understand that this might not have to do with the devil at all. it could be just the village is goin crazy.
one of the charcters that had a external and internal was reverend paris. his internal conflict was with himself because he belived anybody if it wouldnt hurt his repuation. in the play all he talk about is stuff about him like how he needs golden candles or extra money. his external conflict is with mainly john procter. in the play john dosent belive in parris ways and he was afraid that john might hurt his respct. also abigail because she ended up stealing from him then he relized that he might have been wrong. that is why i think parris shows internal and external conflict.
One of the characters that had internal and external conflicts was, Mary Warren. At the beginning, she was joking around like the other girls in the village. Toward the middle of the play, Mary's internal conflict started to appear. The internal conflict is that she is trying to tell the truth about what happened in the forest. The external conflict is that she is trying not to listen to Abigail and the other girls and their beguiling behaviors. If she listens to Abigail and the others, she will go mad. There are also many other conflicts in John Proctor's life as well as Abigail, Elizabeth Proctor, Reverend Hale, Reverend Parris and many others.

I would say John Proctor has both internal and external conflicts. Throughout the play he has problems with Abigali, himself, Elizabeth, and the citizens of Salem. John had an affair with Abigail and Elizebeth found out. Now he wants nothing to do with Abigail and she gets mad about it. To save Elizabeths life JOhn has to tell the truth about his affair. He tries but Abigail denies the whole thing. Once she denies it he tried telling the court that his wife wasn't a witch to still try and save her. All these problems cause him grief. I would say that is his internal conflict.
I think that john proctor had a lot of conflicts during the course of the story. One of his external prblems was the that he was going to be hung. He is a very respected man in the town so it was a big deal he was going to be hung. Proctor only had to that he was with the deevil and he has found god and he didn't want to hang in the gallows because he would feel like to many peopele would respect them. One of his internal problens was that he had to live with his sins. He knew that having an affair Abigal was a sin and he had to live with that. He thought of himself as a snner and that was one of the reasons he couldn't hang in the gallows. These are proctors internal and external problems.
One character with internal and external connflicts was abigail. Her external conflict was trying to get the whole town of salem to take her side. This drives the story because everyone starts believing her which causes huge conflicts. When everyone started believing her peoples lives became in jeapordy. An internal conflict was her deep love for John Proctor. This drives the story because she starts trying to get back at him. If she didnt have feelings for him in the first place the whole witchcraft situation could have been avoided. The whole town is a bucket of chaos because of abigail.
Most characters had both internal and external conflicts. One of these characters would be Mary Warren. Mary had a huge conflict in her life. After everybody had been accused, Mary decided it would be the correct decision to tell the court that abigail and the other girls were lieing. Her external conflict would be with abigail. Abigail is trying to stop her from saying what they really did. This drives the story by making the hanging still happen because of what abigail and the girls are accusing the others for.
Internal and external conflict? mh, i'd have to say one of them would be abigail. In the story her external conflict mainly was getting what she wanted when she wanted it and what she wanted was jhon. She held conflict towards elizabeth because she was the main woman whom was getting in abigails way from jhon. So what did she do? Rather ruthlessly and cunningly, abigail roused her way around in control of people in town to eventually kill elizabeth through these witch hunts. In general abigails motivation for all this witch hunt things drove the story along pretty much the entire way of the story. And internally? Well i like to honestly think that despite her external behavior, part of abigail internally faught in decision to what is right. What is the right thing to do? Confess to making the whole thing up? Or keep killing people? All abigail wanted was to be with jhon proctor, but i led to much much more then that.
