Day 16

So much goes on in the world each day. Some good and some bad. As it is the new year, I would like to focus on the good for today's blog. You must find a current event that shows something positive in our society. As always, give a brief summary and then tell me how this event impacts you and your community. Lastly, how does this positive event show that we do not always have to dwell on the negatives that happen around us. REMEMBER, NO CITE NO POINTS.

Recently the worlds tallest tower opened in Dubai. It ended up being bigger than perilously thought at 168 stores, 2716 feet, over twice the height of the empire state building in new york! Its suppose to be as tall if you took the previously tallest building with the efril tower on top of it. This is a good thing because it can create jobs, and apartments for thous people. They also say it suppose to help the economy some how. This is a great achievement and i hope to see it one day This can affect me because if it helps there economy than thayle be make better goods and we can buy from them. This shows that we can her a little more good news than always bad news because its just as important and much more pleasant to hear.

THe article I chose was called "Coworkers willing to save lives." In the article it talks about these coworkers who did something kind or positive. For example, one coworker gave cpr to another coworker he didn't even know and it saved his life. This impacts the society because I think if everyone else had some good in them our soceity would be a lot more better. THis event shows that we don't have to dwell on the negative thing that happens. tHis guy probably felt good about what he did so in the future it will probably help him look at more things with a positive perspective. If you dwell on the negative things that goes on it will just bring you down.

Recently Miley Cyrus has starred in her brand new movie, The Last Song. This new year and new movie has proved how Miley has grown up and has broken away from her role of Hannah Montana. This is a big deal in my community because there are many young girls who idolize Hannah Montana, and her "retirement" has upset them. Miley will continue to grow and become her own person, and her indapendence will continue to shine. This is a good thing for everyone this year. Entertainment will be booming and people will be watching her movie. I have no doubts that there will be plenty more movies.

War might not sound good because its not, unless you know what there fighting about or for. The Afghan war was is still on and is not good but there is a sunny side of the war, the sunny side is women soldiers are now putting down there guns and interacting with the afghan women. this is a good idea because once they have a relationship with the marines they can help locate bombs and other vital information. also women in the middle east don't usually talk much sense they have to be around there husbands and can't get into a deep conversation without the man ignoring them. but now women can have a relation with an armed friend from America while enjoying life. also these women are helping stabilize regions, setting up programs like health. this was the good new that people need to here sense there are only few sunny sides to war.

my topic is about raiseing tv cable prices. On New Year’s Day, the News Corporation, the media empire controlled by Rupert Murdoch, wrangled new payments from Time Warner Cable. this is bad because everone one is in a money chrisis right now.Viewers usually do not notice until the price goes up, but their pay TV bills are a battleground for media companies. this is i good thing that the media is trying to take down these outragous bill raisings. but there raesons for it is wrong because they are trying to take them down so they get more buisness. that is why i choose this topic.

Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero says he plans to announce soon if he’s getting into the governor’s race, and made that move seem likely.
Bernero filed the paperwork to start up an exploratory committee for governor two weeks ago.Bernero served in the state House and Senate from 2001-06. This impacts my community because he could bring jobs back to Michagan. This will give as a repasentive that have seen what Michagan is like and is going though. This is a good thing because he could bring more jobs back to Michagan.

This is kind of one of thoes gray areas of what we think is good or bad. Some think good and bad are different than others. Anyways google unveiled the Nexus One on Tuesday. Marking the online search giants first leap into the smartphone market. The phone which goes head to head with the I Phone is sold only through a Web store operated by Google. Unlike the I Phone and most other current smartphones is available either with or without mobile service. Already available Tuesday the phone costs $180 with a contract or $530 unlocked leaving the phone open to other carriers. This impacts the community becaue people are always saying they have no service but now they can always have there phone available. Also its not all that much so its convienent for the ecomomy today. This is a positives on the world because no one dies or can get hurt by a phone. we dont have to dwell on negitives because with this phone you can focus on other things and not bad things.

Critics are saying that 2010 looks to be the rebound year. New technologies will create more jobs and be aimed at agencies and advertisers with greater accountability. I feel this affects me because should create more jobs for my community. Also it will give the nation new hope to being able to stand up again and be united as a country. I feel it is good to inform people of the hopeful things to give them faith and want to succeed in life. It will create a better outlook for our country by reporting the positive things.

On Christmas Day, a man entered the airport and got on a plane to detroit with bombs attached to his legs. As he was trying to ignite the bombs, two of the surrounding passengers saw him and jumped on him. When they jumped on him, they suffered burns but they put out the bomb. The bombers name was Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. This was good for our society because we know that people around us are willing to sacrifice themselves to help others. This is also a good thing because the people that were on the plane got to get home and celebrate Christmas with their family. The government has to make sure this doesnt happen again

The current event that I found is called "Intriguing People for January 4, 2010". "One of the country's top snowboarders, who was considered a favorite to make the U.S. Olympic team, was in critical but stable condition Sunday after an accident while training last week at Park City, Utah." I think that it a miracle that he survived an injury like that. At least he was wearing a helmet. most people decide not to wear helmets and get seriously injured or killed. This event shows that miracles happen every day. The family of Kevin Pearse are praying at this very moment. Many people are also praying that he will return in good condition. Many people don't live after an accident like this. I hope that he gets better soon.

http://freep.com/article/20100105/NEWS02/100105033/1319/Hundreds-attend-Dearborn-meeting-about-Twin-Towers-shirts

What this article is about is one day a group of Arab-American kids who go to Dearborn’s Edsel Ford High School told their school officials that they were going to show pride in their class with their choice of sweatshirts. Their choice of shirts were shirts that represented the attack on the World Trade Center Towers on September 11. On the these shirts were pictures of the two buildings and a saying that says "You Can't Bring Us Down." I think that this definately had an effect on society in a positive way. It is showing that these kids have not forgotten about that terrible day and they take pride in that. When they are wearing shirts that represent that, other people will be reminded about that time. Nobody should forget that day, it should be well remembered. These kids are having a positive influence on their peers and people around them.

Recently Ford Motor Company reports the highest sales rate since May 2008. The increase was a whopping 33%. This effects me because it shows that steadily but surely, our economy is getting better. Also, it effects me because one day my parents are going to buy me a car when I turn 16 and since my family buys Ford, this means we can help the increasing number. This effects my community because more people are getting jobs and the economy is getting better. This positive event shows that we do not always have to dwell on the negatives that happen around us because as we all know, the economy is not good right now. This is truly a huge breakthrough and if people hear this news, they might start to regain faith in the state of Michigan. The past is in the past, and for the new year, Ford is off to a great start and hopefully our economy will be too.

Hurricanes are something that have devistated many areas and many families. Hurricanes are not easily spotted or prediocted and there is a lot of people that are caught off gaurd when they come. The article that I read about tells about nasa having new technology to detect hurricanes so they can preotect or evacuate from them. Nasa is coming up with more ways to protect from hurricanes by supporting buildings and making city walls or raising a city. This is good because many lives will be saves and a lot of money will be saved putting cities and towns back together. Many people will now be able to evacuate if they need to saving them a lot of money or they can reenforce their house. There is no need to dwell and think of how many people died in hurricanes but now they can think of how many people will be saved from this new technology. The year 2010 has a lot of good to bring.
