The south Korean forces raise surveillance alert level. North Korea threatened military action following its nuclear test earlier this week, the joint forces announced on Thursday. The watchson alert was raised a second time with Korea. The defcon alert has stayed at its level. the level of the defcon alert with
Korea is 4 out of 5.Which i think is not good because a defcon 5 will probably mean war is coming between U.S. and Korea. That scares me. The connection i think is how immediate things can happen and how things change and nothing can be done about the outcome. i feel if we go to war with Korea this could be a very bad thing for our country. But then again if you look bakck all he other time we went to war it got us out of the depression that we were in.

Mr.Kay,
For my current event blog for tonight i want to talk about a man whose fingerprints were erased. This mans fingerprints were erased because of the drug he was taking for cancer. I find this to be really weird because you never hear of anything like this. They found he had no fingerprints when he tried to enter the united states from singapore. The article said one of the symptoms of the drug is hand-foot syndrome, which causes his feet and hands to peel. Which is probally why his fingerprints were erased. I just thought this was pretty interesting and wanted to talk about it in my blog.

Current event: Some of the war tactics of the Bush administration are being disclosed by President Obama. It was surprising to learn the interrogation methods used on detainees. Some of the tactics would be considered as torture. The techniques used were sleep depreviation, slapping, kept in stress positions for extended periods of time, and waterboarding. The Bush administration deemed these techniques as legal. Obama disagrees with these forms of interrogation. I feel every person should be treated humanely. We should not disregard a persons humanity and it is nice to know that this administration will not follow in the footsteps of Bush.

Scientists say that underneath the arctic shelves there may be twice as much oil as recently discovered. It is said that the Arctic holds 13% of the worlds undiscovered oil. The problem is, obtaining the oil is harmful to the balance of nature. Conservationists say that in doing so, mercury and lead could be released into the water. If this is so, I don't think that they should get the oil in the north. We are in high demand for oil, but this is why we are in need of an alternative energy source. I think that the protection of nature is more important than obtaining a third of a years worth of oil for the US. However, if we can find a way to get the oil without harming the environment, then I think that we should. The oil will give our scientists more time to find an alternative energy source. This effects us because the future of the environment and technology is what we are going to be facing in a couple of years.

My current event is about the Iraq torture photos. The Pentagon is denying that the photos from a British newspaper report are true. Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said the Daily Telegraph newspaper had shown "an inability to get the facts right". He also said that none of the images in questioning had anything to do with those described in the article. Even Obama wants to block the release of the pictures.
To tell the truth I don't know how to react to this. If it's true that U.S soldiers are doing this to Iraqis then the governments just trying to cover it up. And even Obama is getting involved in it.

Mr. Kay,
Today, I read about the future of GM. CNN said that GM may be bankrupt very soon. Amongst the great amount of funds GM needs to pay the government for loans, they are still in debt. The article says that the "new GM" will be more powerful if it comes out. Obviously, I am going to connect this to the economy and how it is going downhill. Obviously, this is scary for all of us because our future could be doomed. The more I hear about this stuff about car companies and such, the more afraid I am for the future. All I hear is the economy is slipping under, and it sucks. I really hope something will happen sometime soon before more happens to other companies and such. It is scary for me and well everyone because sometime soon, we could be the The Great Depression 2. I want this to change really bad so we are all economically happy again.

Today i will talk about the negative effects of being a celeb. Susan Boyle, the great british singer from "Britians got talent" had a couple of incidents this week. She reportedly cussed out two fans in the lobby of a hotel and she cussed at the TV when she saw her opponent singing. Boyle's representives deny that either of these things happened. :I just think its funny how we all dream of being famous and then when you do this happens. People forget they are famous and make mistakes like this. I understand becayse she is only human. She has been in tears the past couple of days and its obvious that she has never been exposed to this kind of attention before. People need to not get so caught up in wanting to be famous. I think it is another bad perception of being rich and famous.

My current event is about how GM is how the bondholders support the new offer. On Thursday bondholders agreed to make a deal to erase the automakers unsecured debt in exchange for the company's stock. A person said that GM will file for bankruptcy protection because of the deal. It offered bondholders 10 percent of stock in a newly formed GM the company said. There are warrants if the bondholders sell the company's assets to a new company under bank ruptcy protection. If the bondholders didn't agree to supporting the sale than the the stocks and warrants that they would get will be reduced or eliminated. What I think about this is that the bondholders better be careful of what they are doing with the stock because if the sell something to a new company than their in trouble.

Well my current event is something that can save thousands of peoples lives. What it is, is people are training dogs to be able to sniff out bombs and guns and all that kind of stuff. If this is something that will be good because of multiple reasons. One is we can stop all the suicide people that end up killing more than themselves. Also, know we can maybe find the terrorist in the country. However that is a little bit of a stretch. Last main thing is if we could get them to do this then just have a dog at any place they think there is a bomb and hopefully find out if one is there.

My article is about the priest that broke his celibacy vow joining an episcopal church today. He will give a sermon on sunday at the church in Florida. His name is Alberto Cutie. He is a cuban-american and had his own talkshow on tv and online and the radio. The way the whole thing got out is there were pictures of him and a woman in a bathing suit on the beach together. He admitted to having a two year relationship with her and that she has been a long time friend. He said he still loves the catholic church and all its people and stuff but wants to be able to be with the woman he loves. This is a current event because there are lots of different religions out there and they all have different beliefs. And I guess this article shows how everyone can believe different things and that sometimes people's beliefs change with different circumstances. I personally don't like the whole priest thing for catholics but thats just me, everyone is different.
Last month a boy in warren michigan was tasered to the death. the cop sides of the story was different they were saying that the boy was resisting from arrest. in the article it was saying that another kid in bay6 city not to far from detroit was tasered and died and same with a boy in virgina. the device is over 50,000 volts. this article makes me mad because i knw many people dont like the cops there blame them for using the devices but maybe we shuld question the people who made the device.

I am going to comment on what Sean said with the Man U fan who killed 4 people in a bus attack. After this game this man went on a rampage as well as many other frustrated fans did. This is insane. The sport of soccer or any other sport in the world is just a game. It's supposed to be about fun and entertainment. People who get so wrapped up in games that really mean nothing are crazy. I was mad when Man U lost too but I couldn't even think of that. I agree with what Sean said when fans in Europe tend to erupt in riots after nearly every game. Soccer is the most riot prone sport in the world. people take this way to seriously. This effects me because, being that I play soccer, it is a little discouraging. Soccer is about fun not death and hearing about this wasn't the best thing. I would never want to take soccer as far as killing someone over it. It was a hard fought battle between the two teams and one had to win and the other had to lose and that's how life is. People need to leave it at that.

Tasers are not fun at all. If you have seen police videos have the whole "if you want a taser you first must be tased", you would remember policemen screaming at the top of their lungs, falling face first then calling out a explicative after it's all done. This is a revolutionary idea of stunning the target without permanent damage. However one taser failed to not harm and killed a 16-year old adolescent in Detroit today. Robert Mitchel is a learning-disabled boy with no criminal record, witch has me thinking "What did this guy do?" Police said the teen was resisting arrest after bolting from his cousin's car during a traffic stop, and the use of the Taser was justified. His death led to a lawsuit and a protest last week by about 100 people on the thoroughfare, which separates Detroit from its northern suburbs. Apparently he was petrified of police. His family is suing the department and the city, arguing there was "no articulable reason" to use the Taser on him.
The autopsy was still inconclusive.
I'm not sure what to think on this one, police did their job correctly based off the information they had but still killed the kid.

I am going to comment on what Ty said about the bomb sniffing dogs. While I read the story, I found some interesting facts about the dogs. Since Sept. 11, over 10,000 dogs have been added to the police force. Jeff Schettler has trained hundreds of dogs to sniff out bombs, missing people, and corpses. In my eyes, I see that this could be useful in many situations. For example, if there is a bomb threat, the dogs can search for the bomb and maybe prevent a disaster from occuring. Also, when searching for missing people, it could be helpful so that the dogs could be given the scent of the human and try and track it. Police also said that dogs are the most reliable and affordable way to solve crimes and search for drugs.

Ok, my current event is going to one that i read in the newspaper, titled "Dad gave his life, now family is finding peace". The story was very long it had a section on the front page and 2 full pages with nothing but the story on it. The story is about a Michigan born faimly that vists a beach in New York, and the girls father a Marine trys to save two boys after being pulled out by a rip current. But what ends up happening is the Marine goes out there to save the two boys, but on his way back gets very tierd and the boys are out there alone again. His daughter on the beach finds a boggie board and heads out to help, she does not know her dad is in trouble. When she reachs the boys and didnt see her dad she though he was fine, so she heads in with the boys on the board. Her father ends up dying, ripping the family apart. Katrina, the girl who saved the two boys, a cross country runner like her dad quits running. But now two years later is running again. The story made me think about what bravery really is, and how lucky i am. The story touched me in ways other stoys have not, the whole thing is just crazy. This is the kind of heros we need, heros that are willy to risk their lifes. I have very deep respect for the family and see them as great heros.

Today, for my current event i chose to do mine on $10 debt leads to a stabbing at a concert. A Waterford Township teen didn’t get two tickets to a trip after being arrested on accusations he stabbed someone at an Eddie Money concert. Kipp Edward Quarton, 17, is accused of stabbing a 20-year-old man in the back with a pocketknife in a fight over $10. Quarton was arraigned Saturday in Oakland County Circuit Court on a charge of felonious assault. He was released on a $10,000 personal bond. This connects to my life and to the community, because you never know how crazy people can be. And that you should always be aware of your surroundings.

Mr. Kay,
In Orlando Florida, a 9 year-old girl from Pennsylvania was reunited with her father near a Disney World Resort in a bizarre case that police say was an abduction scam by the girls mother. 9 year-old, Julia Rakoczy, was taken by her mother in what police say, was a fake abduction. Julia's mother, Sweeten, was charged with filing a fasle report and identity theft. The police say that she lied about being abducted by two men who had rear-ended her car. It is said that Sweeten made frantic 911 calls on Tuesday saying that she and her daughter had been abducted by two men. Sweeten also said that she and her daughter had been stuffed into the men's trunk, and taken away. A police officer said that Julia started crying when her father, Anthony, arrived Thursday afternoon at the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Florida.

I am going to talk about the passenger's on the plan that crashed in the Hudson River. One passenger from the crash, Barry Leonard recieved a fedex package of itmes he had in the plane. He also recieved the Wall Street Journal from that day and his boarding pass that was still readable. US airways hired a company called Global-BMS that work in recovery of disasters. They sorted out nearly 30,000 items. Other people got back their diamonds, money, clothes, and they all bring back memories of when the crash happened. i thought this story was really interesting in how the people got their belongings back. I did the article "'No excuse' for teen's Taser death, mother says" on CNN breaking news. This is about a 16 year old boy who was killed after being tasered. The boy had resisted arrest after bolting from his cousin's car. I do understand why the police used force because they are just doing their job and keeping people safe. However, I don't believe that they should have used a taser. I noticed Stephanie did the same article and she thinks it's more the people whom make them's fault. I think that they should make them less strong. This way it still works but not strong enough to kill. I think they should not use tasers unless it's a last resort.

Yesterday in UEFA champions leauge cup for soccer, Barcelona defeated Man Chester United. An angry man chester fan drove a minibus into barcelona supporters killing 4. Riots also broke out to the point where the police needed to step in. Rioters threw glass bottles and anything they could find at the police. 119 people were arrested following the riots and up to 100,000 euros ($140,000) of damage was caused to shops, parks and public utilities such as lamp-posts. I was watching that game yesterday and wanted Barcelona to win it. Soccer matches in europe have a tendency to erupt in violence among opposing fans. I would think that the violence did spoil barcelonas victory a little bit, I dont think it needed to come to that. Towards the end of the game, the players even got a little dirty in play. Soccer isnt as much of a pussy sport as people think. The sport, especially in the US, is usually physical and the refs will let play continue. I dont like how riots broke out, and how 4 people had to die that die because of a poor sport. Its sad to see barcelona fans die on such a wonderful day.

For my current event this evening, I'm going to write about the article "Man goes Overboard from Cruise ship". On Monday, May 25th, 2009, their was a 18 year Louisiana graduate, named Bruce O'Krepki, who fell overboard on a cruse ship. He was with about 35 of his class mates, going on a cruise around the gulf Of Mexico. Also, his parents were chaperoning the trip. There has not many any news on whether or not Bruce is alive, or how he fell overboard, their still waiting for more information. He fell off the cruise ship about 150 miles southwest of Tampa. they sent a search place, helicopter and Coast Guard cutter to search for the missing teen. I think that this is a tragic, and something that certainly doesn't happen very often. I, myself, was just on a cruise over spring break, and was on a cruise the previous summer. I know, that it's hard to be able to fall off the ship. You have to be fooling around a lot, to be able to do so. I believe that the teens now a days, take messing around to far. Although, we still do not know the reason for his falling, the possibilities are that him and his friends were messing around, and someone took it to far. There are plenty of places to hang out with your friends on the cruise ship, they do not need to pick a spot near the edge of the ship. I feel that this incident, may have caused the cruise ship company Carnival, to lose some business, because families may not feel their little will be safe. Whatever the reason that Bruce fell over board, was a mistake, but some people do not believe it was.

There has recently been an earth quake off of the coast of the Caribbean. This quake struck a 7.1 magnitude at 2am. This quake struck the biggest of Honduras' Bay Islands. There were four people declared dead. Cause of death was being asleep while the earthquake hit and was crushed in the wreckage. "A six-year-old girl in the Honduran beach town of Morazan was killed when one of the walls of her house fell on her." This was a tragic event and we are lucky to live here in the U.S. where earthquakes are few, and we have the technology to cope with the shaking. I am thankful that I can get up every morning and live one more day at a time, and learn lifes lessons.

I am going to write a reaction to the one Cherie wrote. I think that the oil down there would be such a help to our economy. However, theres a large risk there for us. I think that they need to test things, because if it is hurting the wildlife that it wouldnt be necessary. Now, an idea comes into my mind about making this work. Would there be any way to somehow capture the mercur and lead for use as well? In conclusion, as long as we have harm to others, this process shouldnt be done. We dont need this oil, we should be starting to switch more alternative energy anyways.
I read an article about the teenage boy being tased to death. I noticed that Kristen also did this article. I have to disagree with her though. Even thought it is sad that a boy died in this incident, it is kind of his fault because the article says how the police warned him to stop resisting arrest. The boys cousin got pulled over for a expired license plate. The boy got out of the car and ran in fear. What are the police suppose to think but that he has committed a crime or there is a warrant out for his arrest. And when he kept resisting the arrest the police tased him. But, like I said before its really sad a teenager had to die, but he shouldn't have ran from the police he should have just stayed in the car, cause he had done nothing wrong prior to that. The mom says how the police had no right to tase him because he had no prior criminal record, but the police don't know that while they chase him. For all they know he could be a wanted criminal.

Mr. Kay,
I am going to write a reaction to Tyler Mcleods. I disagree 1000% with what Tyler wrote. I think that as politicians, and US leaders, they need to do everything that is needed in order to protect this country. Of that means torturing somebody, then so be it. I think that as Americans, we are so worried about being nice to everybody and not being the bully that we should be. We need to treat criminals like criminals and nothing better. They dint deserve to be treated well for whatever crime they commited. Because they disrespected our governtment, adn now we are being nice to them, we are slapping ourselves in the face.
Today, a woman was told to remove an offensive American Flag from her office. He is a diehard patriot, because her husband and son both served in the US military, and her daughter is currently deployed in Iraq. Debbie McLucas went to work to find that a 3 by 5 American Flag was taken down due to complaints by a coleague who immigrated to America from Africa 14 years ago. While the flag in the front of her office still stands, she is required to take it down. She doesn't understand how you could find an American flag offensive in America. However, the management says it was strictly the size of the flag that was the distraction. This just goes to show how politically correct our country has become. Everyone is so worried about protecting diversity that we have forgotten about true patriotism and our core democratic values. For the record, I completely agree with her, and I would refuse to take the flag down.

But unfortunately it may face a tougher road in the Senate because it exempts casinos and cigar bars. Last year the House and Senate couldn’t agree on the ban. The legislation passed by the House on Wednesday makes another try at a smoking ban. But Senate leaders said that their position hasn’t changed since last year’s stalemate.
I personally hope that the smoking ban goes through because I feel that it would be a benefit to everyone. With no smoking in public places it brings more business to the public places. With no smoking the entire family can come to the restaurants, instead of just the parents. During this troubling time, any establishment needs as much business as they can get. Additionally, this ban improves the health of the employees because they are not exposed to the second hand smoke.

'No excuse' for teen's Taser death, mother says. Renea Mitchell said "her son Robert wanted "nothing to do" with police, a feeling she said is "nothing new" among teenagers in Detroit".
Police felt they needed to use a Taser on a scared, 16yearold, learning disabled boy with. He even had no criminal record. the death of this young boy led to a lawsuit and a protest last week by about 100 people on the thoroughfare, which separates Detroit from its northern suburbs. Police officers said that the teen was resisting arrest after bolting from his cousin's car during a traffic stop. Also the use of the Taser was justified. I will write my current event apon Rob Kellers. He stated a lot of info wrong though. North Korea has been facing international censure for testing a nuclear test this week. North Korea threatened on Wednesday to attack the South after it joined a U.S. led plan to check vessels suspected of carrying equipment for weapons of mass destruction. South Korean media reported that Pyongyang had restarted a plant that makes plutonium that can be used in nuclear bombs. Russia is taking this serious because it fears mounting tensions over the test could escalate to war. The U.S. states North Korea is acting provacative toward its neighbors, and that there will be consequences to such behavior.
North Korea signed off to there current truce and is now open again to hostility. North Korea has the worlds largest artillery force. They have the potential to fire nuclear bombs into its neighbors very easily. In South Korea there are roughly 700,000 South korean forces, 28,000 American's and 50,000 Japanese forces ready to take action. Today they raised the Defcon level to the second highest level...level 2. The lowest alert level is 5 and 1 being the highest. This ties the level we were at in 2006. This is kinda crazy. In normal defense situations, the South Korean troops maintain Watchcon 3 surveillance status and Defcon 4 defense readiness status. When tensions rise, the status is upgraded, and in war, they are raised to Watchcon 1 and Defcon 1. (I just wanted to correct Rob).
My reaction is not much at all. I have been wondering when North Korea will get pissed enough to grow some balls and shoot out threats. I'm not all to worried because if we get involved with war, North Korea will get there asses handed to them. The thing I am worried about is long term effects. This could easily become another "Vietnam", and end in fail for us. As long as we stay out and only "assist" South Korea we should be fine. This will really be on the fate of Obama, if war even breaks out. He will most likely have a good plan if it does.

I got a shitton of info from this and I hope you see it as a realiable source.
The military decided to use video games to help train soldiers. The reason for it is a staff sergeant decided to use the Quran upsetting tons of people. Another reason behind using video games is because of the age of recruits. Most of them are between the ages of 20-24 and are using technology for some form of entertainment. One of the most commonly asked questions from new recruits is "do you have Wi-Fi?". So the DVD comes with a test to see how well you realize different ethnic groups. There is another test after to see if you became any familiar with them. They also used real film and others shot by Hollywood and high resolution graphics to produce a realistic picture. The reason for that is people don't care about a avatar because you can always get a new one.

I'm going to reply to Brittany's blog about the man without finger prints.
I find it interesting that his skin can peel so quickly and his prints disappear. I know it sounds 'cool', but it is kind of risky. I can guess he wasn't completely aware of the medications' side effects and the dangers he could put himself in.
I can understand completely that people would think something was up with him when entering the USA. They know the lengths people would go to in order to harm us, but if there is a flaw in their 'connection', they could wrongfully prosecute.
If the 'security' of the USA is going to be so uptight, then we might lose connections to the 'outside world'. We are living in a very close-minded country. I just think that they need to loosen up, but not to much. I don't want my children in danger because of the government.

Too Much Cola Can Cause Muscle Problems
in this article they talk about research they have done on patients who drink cola and what health effects are. some of the patients drank 3-7 liters of cola a day! they ended up with very low potassium levels and muscular weakness. some healthproblems that result from drinking cola are: tooth problems, bone demineralization and the development of metabolic syndrome and diabetes. drinking too much cola can lead to hypokalemia because of the excessive amounts of glucose, fructose, and caffeine.
this article show that we are not taking our health seriously. we are consuming way to much cola and other unhealthy foods. america really needs to become more aware of what we are eating.
Im am also like Deets going to right about the UEFA Championship. Barcelona defeated Manchester United 2-0 and a MAN U fan drove a bus into 4 barcelona fans. Much like Deters i think this act of violence is ridiculous. Soccer already has a bad enough reputation in the United States as it is. Now people are going to think it is a violent and negative sport. I don't understand what ever happened to sportsmanship. It is decreasing in every sport. Kids these days are picking up on the smack talk cheap shots and dirty play they see from the professionals and they put it into play in high school and recreational games. I also agree with deets that the game of soccer is more physical then people think. Just this year I broke an opposing players collar bone on a very clean hit. Sports should be about the love of the game not cheap shots and smack talk.

My current event tonight will be on the veiw of china, regarding the NOrth Korea Missle luanches. The news of North Korea’s nuclear test made the front pages of the state-run newspapers in Beijing –- a sign the Chinese government is taking this issue very seriously. The China Daily, an English-language newspaper, ran a front-page spread with the headline, “Pyongyang nuclear test shocks Beijing,” a timeline and a picture of women in Tokyo looking shocked. Other countries responded quickly and strongly, but China took several hours to release a statement … so we can assume it was well-thought, crafted, but ultimately stern. Here is a little of that statement. “The Chinese government expresses firm opposition to this. Upholding the peace and stability in northeast Asia is in the mutual interest of all parties. China calls on all parties to keep calm, deal with the situation appropriately, and to solve problems peacefully through discussions and dialogue.” What the statement does not talk about is how China intends to act with respect to the United Nations, and some might call the language vague.
This should be very impoetant to the U.S. because if we go to war with North Korea we may need help from China. China is being very nutral between U.S. and North Korea. China doesnt want to make North Korea angry. If China can be on our side it would be very good for the U.S. cuz it would be a great base for weapons if we did go to war with North Korea.

I am going to do my blog on a dam that burst in norther Brazil because of heavy rains. On thursday a dam burst in the northeastern village of Cocal left a 12 yearold girl dead and three people missing. 800 to 2,000 homes located near the dam were inundated, but 500 families some 2,500 people were affected. Steady rain has flooded communities across 10 states since early April, killing dozens of people and forcing nearly 800,000 from their homes. I think that this is something that global warming has a part of. I did my webstie on global warming and it seems this might be the cause. The heavier rains caused the dam to break. If this servre weather contineus to happen than it may affect me. I think that it already has a bit.

After reading up on CNN about how GM might consider exporting cars to china to sell my jaw droped. Gm has just considered to sign an agreement to make a forign looking line of cars and export them to countries such as china and japan. President Obama spoke out and told how he strongly disagrees with the decision they are making. He believes that there is no reason to lower our selves to a forign country. He states that there is no reason for it and that all cars americanly built shall stay in that hard working country.
I personally agree with obmama. I feel that this idea is complete bull shit and that there is no reason for it. i am a big fan of the american auto companies with GM being my favorite. Im starting to get different feelings about GM but really dont want to. I like GM alot and feel they should keep there american heads held high and be proud of what staeted america.

I am going to talk about how having the red wings in the playoffs is really helping out Detroit. After a while things were looking pretty bad in detroit but because of the wings people are actually proud to live here. Even though things are so rough people are finding a way to pull through. This is greatly influenced by the wings. Also big events like this bring people to the city of Detroit. This helps the economy because people are eating in the restaurants and staying in the hotels. This is also bringing interest to the lame sport of hockey. Nobody likes hockey but now everyone is convinced that its fun to watch. This is attracting young kids to want to play and try new things. The wings have been a great influence on out economy and also it has soothed the mental depression that so many people are facing.
short, brief, and to the god damn point.
apple is investing a billion dollars into a server farm, and it is looking for place to put it in the united states. this can mean job opportunities, and possibilities for long time jobs, for wherever they put the server farm.
what i mean by server farm, is that hoe they hold all their data, all of their websites, and all its users. pretty much everyone who uses the mobile me service, will be affected.
anyways, this is pretty much the nature of apple, being very secretive, but hey, that’s how they get people, with surprising tactics. cause hell, if they told the world they were making a phone, so many people would have competed with them, it would have been a crazy release. I admire their secrecy, and i think it is a great way to attract, and keep people on the edge of technology. because, people will just see the new product, not really making perceptions on what is or isn't good about the product, until like 10,000 people have bought it. very few things apple has made were flops, and i doubt they will have any in the near future. cause whatever they got planned, its going to be big, and i'm literally on the edge of my seat, waiting.
any who, its interesting to hear of another apple rumor. I mean, come on, what's next? a touch screen laptop? oops, i shouldn’t have said that.
Oh well. they make great products, and have nearly 100% reliability. that’s why "I'm A Mac"

South Korean police suspect former president committed suicide
Some people may know about this. Last saturday South Korean ex-president committed suicide, jumping off from a mountain. It was found that the suicide happened while the ex-president sent his guards for some errands, which was about a few minutes. It's suspected that the present South Korean president accused him of taking bribes and defamed him, and he couldn't endure for the stress and eventually chose the way.
president Obama has announced a cybersecurity push. Obama said how cyber space is the biggest threat to national security. He also said that with so many individuals computers being hacked that new measures to avoid this would have to be created. I think this is an important thing to do. Because it is kind of scary thinking that someone could hack into your privacy and steal from you. Especially now that computers have become such a prominent part of Americans lives that security needs to be stronger. Computers are either going to result in great things or devastation things. and it all matters on whether or not there is security to prevent these things.

We have not been hearing a lot about the H1N1 flu in the news lately, but the numbers continue to increase in the amount of people infected with the virus. The current official count for the U.S. is 8,975 cases and 15 deaths. Officials estimate that there is actually about 100,000 people who have had or currently have the H1N1 flu, but many of them never sought medical help. Experts say we cannot know for sure if this is a sign for a pandemic, but they believe there is a low chance of it. I think that because we have a lot of medical ways to help these people with the virus, this shouldn’t spread to be a pandemic. There was also news about how the H1N1 virus was not as bad as they initially thought it was. I think it is good that people are concerned though. If the media, medical experts, and government just let this blow over and not inform us like they had, many more people could have died than have from the H1N1 flu. Thanks to the information the people keep getting, we can know when we need to go get help and what to look for.

p.s. I’m really sorry I did this a day late. I’ve been sick, tired, having hot flashes, and so much more stuff. Plus my grandma just got diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, so my mind hasn’t been working perfectly lately…

Right now, Korea is in a melancholic sad mood. The image of the dead president, nothing special but innocent in his life, working for the lower class people, the first president's tragic death in Korean history, and the hatred toward the present president are creating the atmosphere especially mysteriously sad. I, as well, even though not in Korea, could feel the people's sentiments and got immerged in a down mood for couple of days. Would Americans have felt in this way when JFK got assassinated. For this occasion, I received a sense of how people of a nation can gather together under the nation's hard time and; I was happy.

This article is about how GM is filing for bankruptcy tomorrow. It went from being the leader in the auto industry, to going bankrupt. Obama will be giving a speech to address the issue at 11:30 tomorrow morning. My dad works for GM, and if he loses his job, then we will probrably lose most of what we have. I mean, what will happen to America, let alone the world? All the jobs that will continue to be lost, its crazy. Were on the road to the next depression. Who knows, were probrably heading for another war then too. History repeats itself. Now we can only hope that things get back on track as quick as possible.

Independence is very important to me, which is why I hardly ever depend on people to be there. I feel I got my independence when I switched schools because I didn't know anyone so I basically had to fend for myself and make my own friends and find my own way. Referring to Jane O'Reilly's qoute, I feel it is not a challenge at all for me to keep my independence but yet still keep thwe relationships and bonds that I have with my family and my friends close. I just don't depend on them like some people do. Some people feel insecure and incapable do they keep close to their family and friends. But to me, it would be hard to be independent when you don't know how to step out in the real world.
