What do you think this quote means? How does this quote relate to being social activists? How can this relate to something in American history that you have learned this year?

I think this quote means that, as long as you have a plan to follow in rebellion, and if you have a strong heart to do what you believe in, you can succeed. It doesn't necessarily take a lot of people to get something the way you want. It relates to being social activists because it shows how the "few determined leaders" are being active and doing what they can for what they believe. That's all you need to have, along with a plan, to get what you want. It relates to the civil rights movement in the 1960s. The African Americans were fighting for their equality, and they had a few good leaders. A few of them were Thurgood Marshall, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and even Rosa Parks was a role model for people. They also had a sound cause because they were being treated unfairly. They stood up for what was right, and eventually got their way. This is largely due to the plan that they had.
This quote means to me: that it just takes a few people dedicated to a cause to stand up for what you believe in and go against the majority. I can relate this to Rosa Parks not giving up her seat to a white person. E.D. Nixon helped Rosa Parks when she was arrested for violating the segregation laws in Alabama. The Montogomery Boycott set a chain of events within the Civil Rights movement. It took just a few people to stand up for what they believed is right and no matter the consequence live by their choice. Rosa Parks rebelling against the segregation laws changed history.
This quote relates to being a social activists because if you feel strongly for a cause it only takes you standing up for what you believe in to make a difference.
*Mr. Kay I needed to add this to my blog.*
Mr. Kay,
I think this quote just means that just because you don't have a huge backup with your cause, doesn't mean it isn't worth it. That is my very general definition. That could go towards almost any action. I also think that it could mean that just because you don't have followers, doesn't mean you are not powerful. It relates to social activism because people will always fight for whats right. Just because some people don't like your cause, doesn't mean your cause is useless. That person will always need to lead. I think this is a lot like when the Civil Rights Movement came along. Even though it had a big following, it still lacked power in which it needed to grow to win. They really had to fight for what was right, no matter how little power they had. It was truly inspiring. I think that this quote is very meaningful because some are afraid to stand up for what they believe in due to their lack of power or majority. They need to understand that if they are smart about it they can do whatever they want.

I think this quote means that a person or leader(s)with a good, stable plan can do just about anything. It's not about how many people you have that follow you, or who's leading. The main thing is the plan. Without that, then there's not much that can be done in that group. Any group of social activists would need these things to be successful. Especially Martin Luther King Jr. had a plan in the civil rights movement. He had determination and a good plan, and that's all that was needed to acheive his goal.

I think that this meens that you dont need alot of people to make a rebellion, you just have to have a good cause and have a good plan. You dont really need alot of people to get something you want. As long as you have a plan and follow hrough with that plan then its good. This kind of relates to how rosa parks sat aon the wrong side of the bus and didnt move. She was rebelling agianst the law. She stood up for what she wanted and now in this time there is no seperating blacks and whites. This relates to being a social activist because they are standing up for what they believe in. They are rebbeling.

Mr. Kay,
I believe that this quote is trying to say that you don't need a big group of people just to make a difference. You just need to have a few "pull them in" catch phrases, and you need to have confidence in yourself. This quote relates to being social activists because its the point that people are trying to make a difference in our lives. That people care about what we are going to look like in 30 years. The point is, everyone has something that they believe in, whether they are doing something about it or not, what makes them stand up and try to change the world is what matters. This quote relates to (my feeling) the "I Have A Dream" speech by Martin Luther King Jr. He had something that he felt was worth fighting for. He stood up. He took a stand. He made a difference in the world we live in now. He was a social activist that took a stand, even though he was alone, he made a point, and he made a difference.
Danielle Turner
This quote means that everyone has the ability to make a rebellion on there own. you don't need everyone else around you to do it with you. You can succeed at anything you put your mind to. Also achieve any goal you want. This quote realates back when segregation was a big problem. All of the white people were against all of the black people. When MLK Jr. stood up in front of all of these people and he gave his speeches against segregation. that right there is a great example of what one person can do for so many other people. Also what kind of impact one person can have on the whole world on the ways people sees things. This is a social activist thing on the way you take action in order t do this. Not just sit behind and not do anything.
What I think this quote means is that only one person can start a rebellion who is determined to go all the way. Also, it means that you have somebody on your side that you know won't go against you. The quote relates to being a social activists because when you are rebelling against something you need to be determined and can't back down. How this can relate to U.S history is during segregation. A group called CORE would use sit-ins at restraunts and other places. They would do sit-ins until they were treat equally. Thats how the quote relates to U.S. history.

Mr.kay,
I think this quote means it dosnt take an army to destroy something. All you need is a few people who know what they want and how to get it. But i think it could also mean it dosnt take a big hero to lead, all it takes is a determined person who only wants equality and justice. This quote relates to social activists because being a social activists is about taking action about something not fair and injust. in american history i think this could relate to when african americans wanted to be treated fairly, and have the same rights as whites.

I think this quote means that rebellion will result in cause not by groups of people. I think when a rebellion is needed it is for a cause, and the cause alone will cause others to act upon it. For example when Rosa Parks didn't give her seat up on the bus, the cause of the transit inequality rebellion was established. After the community saw Rosa Parks strength they lined behind her. this quote relates social activism because the rebellion is created by a cause. an injustice had occurred and social activists are going to rebel against it. if you have a cause people will follow.

This quote means that it takes just a few people to stand up for what is right. If they are determined, they will succeed. A Social Activist tries to make this world a better place. They stage rallies or protests to let their cause be known. Think of Rosa Parks, she was just a little lady riding home on the bus. She was tired and didn’t want to move for anyone. So, she was arrested. If it weren’t for her refusal we wouldn’t have had the bus boycott. She began the modern civil rights movement. You see, it doesn’t take much, just stand up for what you believe in and don’t back down.
This quote means that you dont need a group of people to start a rebellion, it only takes a few people. If those few people are determined enough and are willing to lead, then its saying to go for it. This quote is a perfect example of social activism. Its saying if someone has a good plan set, and has a determined heart for the particual subject, then you can succeed at being a social activist. One example i can think of in history is Martin Luther King Jr. He knew he wanted to be a social sctivist against segregation and discrimination, and he did it. All and all, i think he succeeded, because he believed he could succeed in ending segregation.
Clare Pathe
I think this means that if you have some sort of plan to follow in a rebellion, and that you are determined, you will succeed. I don't think you need a lot of people to succeed in a rebellion. If you are determined at heart and strongly believe in your cause, then theres nothing that can really stop you. This relates to social activists because it shows that you don't need to "majority" of people to stand up for what you believe in. Many people, especially in their teens, don't stand up for what they believe in because they fear of being criticized and made fun of. In history, this relates to Martin Luther King. He wanted to relieve the tension between African American's and whites. This was what he believed in and he was successful until he was assassinated.

To me this seems quite obvious. It's kind of like the domino effect. One event caused by a individual(s) will get attention. The Law of politics that I made up is that if you voice your opinion, you will either be loved or hated(generally speaking). Overall the only thing that can cause a rebellion is lack of food and a smart talker. Changing the lives of society is legendary. However it is uneasy, the risks may be great. George Washington would have suffered what most of us would consider torture if the revolutionary war was lost. Not sure what passage in our Lit. books it was but I found the words "Oppressed people, cannot remain oppressed forever".
Speaking of getting societies attention WHO CARES ABOUT WHAT MS. CALIFORNIA HAS TO SAY?! I'm sick of the news reports about her against gay/lesbian marriage for 2 weeks! No one that insignificant should be given 30 seconds!
I think that this qoute is saying a couple things. First if you have or picked good leaders then you will be fine. The sound cause is saying that if its something people respect and can agree to then it is also going to work. Another thing is, as you always say, if you got to have a plan and it will do just fine. However that plan has to be good and everyone agree to it. This relates to social activist because thye have leaders in the progams and if those leaders are good they do good. Well the african americans did this in th 1960's. One of the most famous is Martin Luther King and all he did.

Wow, this quote has mine and taylors name written all over it. It relates exactly to mine and taylors idea of the blogging except we did not cover the last part about having a sound cause. Meaning that, you dont nedd your hole society or and bunch of people to rebel or protest, it can be either jsut you or you and a couple people which could make a differnce. This quote relates to being social activists in many ways. one being that these activists are people who are very patriotic and have very good believes, giving them the power to never back down or give in.
An example giving that it just takes one person is the act of Rosa Parks. Rosa parks was a young lady back in the slavery day when whites did not like to be with or even around the color and treated them terribly. In this day, colored people were not allowed to do things such as drink from a white person's drinking fountain or even sit in the white person section of a bus. well one day, rosa decided she was going to make a difference. she decided to sit in a white person's seat and when the man walked up and demanded her to move she refused to. Rosa was then thrown off the bus and put into trouble but these days just the thought of what she did is just amazingly brave. This young women shows that even being an individual can make a difference just from the small act of not giving your seat up for no reason but not giving it up because you as a person do not deserve any less than the person next to you.
conman
I think this quote means that you do not neeed to be a majority to rebel against someone, something ect. but as long as the cause is something some people will follow they might get people to follow them. they would do anything for what they believe and try to make the other people believe them to because they no what they want and if they realy wanted it enough they will get it, or atleast come closse, this could be good or bad. it relates because like conner and twat they both wanted to rebel against blogs but they were showing people how important they didnt want to do themm, even though in the long run they did them and i was left in the dust. something that happened in history was when the little rock nine went into a all white highschool i think they were rebelling and trying to show that they are equal and belong to have the same things, and now today our schools have a wild range of race.
steffiee
I think that this quote means, that you don't have to have a group of people to believe the same thing as you. You only need yourself, your dedication, your determination, and your opinions. As well as many others, I will relate this quote to Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks wouldn't give up her seat to a white person on the bus, because she was tired and didn't want to move. She is only one person, and she wouldn't move. Once the black community saw the strength that she had behind her and her decision, other blacks joined in to help. This relates to social activists because if you feel strongly about an issue, it only takes one to make a difference, and to stand up for what you believe. Even if other people don't believe in the same thing as you, it doesn't mean you should stop believing in what you think is right.

I believe that this quote means, as long as you have a plan to follow then your rebellion will go through as great. When you want something bad enough then you will allow yourself to become filled with hatred and overthrow. This relates to being a social activists becuase it shows how undetermined the leaders are and how unactive they are to go throw with their plans to possiblly suceed. This relates to the civil rights movement. When all went down hill for the African Americans, Leaders stepped in to stop these hate crimes and bring justice to the A.A race. When Rosa parks refused to get up for the white person it was a break throw for the civil rights act and as a great example of Social Activism. She didn't have a plan though but in the end it still worked out for the better.

I think it means if someone supports something enough it can happen. If you take a group of people even if its a small group and they are determined enough they can do a lot. A good example would be the American Revolution. We didn't have a large majority at first but once people got the idea they went with it. It could relate to being a social activist in many ways. The way it does is that most leaders in any group start as an activist with their idea. A good person to prove that was Martin Luther King he was just a normal colored guy but once he got the idea he had plenty of people who agreed with him.

I believe that this quote means that you dont need alot of people. All you need is like two or three people to stand up to what is right. MLk did it in the 60s. At first he didnt have a lot of people to the civil rights. A lot of people were scared. Cops would kill white people if they talked to blacks. I think that this quote is totally true. You dont need an army. All you need is your voice.
I believe the quote is saying that doesn't have to be an organization to make a rebellion known. A few people can take a cause and take action instantly once a legit plan has been accounted for.
It relates to social activists by proving that 'change starts at home'(or whatever it was. I can't remember it right now).
I think I would have to say... uhhh.. huh. Maybe when the people for womens' rights stood up for their beliefs for women. It took only a few people to get their point across, but then it grew into something bigger.
I wasn't really sure how to answer that last one, but I tried my hardest. :)

I think that this quote means that it takes more thinking than it does people to rebel aganist something. You dont need people to rebel you need a plan and a cause for it. All in all you need a plan rather than a bunch of people. This relates to social activism because this is what they do. They start a rebellion and they have it all laid out and one of the least important things is the people fighting for the rebellion. In history it realets to the civil rights movement as a whole. The idea behind this movement was to end segregation, discrimination, racism, etc. The leaders of this movement are considered social activists because they had a plan. Martin Luther King had a dream and that was his plan.

This quote means that it doesn't take many people to rebel for something they believe in. It only takes a few people who are passionate about what they believe in. It is the quality of the people rebelling, not quantity of people. This quote relates to social activist because social activists are always active in fighting for what they believe in in their society. A cause is also needed in a rebellion. Although a group may be small and outnumbered, they still present the message or thought that they are fighting for. Once an issue is thrown out there for everyone to see, it is a very tough thing to ignore it. This quote relates to Rosa Parks because she stood up for what she believed in. This mainly started the civil rights movements and drew in more and more activists.

Mr. Kay,
I think this quote is saying that as long as you work to change something, you will be successful. You do not need a million people to agree to something in order to make an impact. If you impact one life, it will be worth it. Also, it only takes a couple of people to start something. People will then just jump on the bandwagon and join, if they agree. This relates to the civil Right Movement. Martin Luther King was the one man that stood up to make a change. He was the one that everybody followed.
I believe that this quote says that you dont need a large group or anything, you just need strong believers that are persistant. Its saying that if some people want something bad enough, they can achieve it. The group doesnt need to be large, but it has to have a plan hat will be successful. Social activists aren always in large groups. They can accomplish things without having a large majority. It shows that people in a community can band together to get something they want or that is for a good cause. This relates to the russian government. The people took it over, but it ended up going back to he way it was. They obviously didnt have the plan they should of.

I think this means that if your a strong person, and can influence others, you can cause them to follow you. You can make them follow your path. You have to have a good point, supported with strong arguments. This quote relates because you can have a few strong leaders that can achieve what they want by taking ideas and leading others on the path. Martin Luther King is a good example of what I have learned in American History. He had great ideas and made them work publicaly. People followed his path and maintained there goal.
I think i this quote means that even if you dont have the msot people you can still win the fight. As long as the leaders of the smaller group are determined and really want to win. It just like Cinco de Mayo, it celebrates a small battle when the mexicans were out numbered and out gunned, but came out on top. They won beacause they wanted their country and defended it with their lifes. This relates to social activists beacause you need to take action when you cant vote with the majority. You can see this in the american relovution, when the few determined leaders lead the groups in a new style of fighting, since they did not have the numbers. The want to be indepennt from England so bad that they were willy to go as the under dogs, and fight their way to victory. Currently we are talking about the civil rights movemnts, and a leader can really chance, and foces the energy.
Shaun Gerber
I think that this quote means that if you have a few people who are determined to help a good cause, then they can make a difference. Some causes may start with only a small group who want to make a difference. The work that you put into it is equivalent to the product you will get out of it generally. If it is a cause that many people want to join, then some hard work in the beginning could lead to a major impact. Being a social activist requires effort, research, hard work, and dedication. If you truly want to make a difference, it will take time and perseverance. When women were fighting for the right to vote, they did not win their cause overnight. It took years of fighting, protesting, and upsets to get to where we are today. If it wasn’t for the women’s rights movement and all the people’s dedication to the cause, women wouldn’t have the same voting rights as men like we do today.

To me this quote means that you can accomplish anything if you have a real belief in it. It does not take a whole group to accomplish something. As long as you have a few people who have a true passion for what they are trying to accomplish. I think this quote relates to being a social activist because there are not always a lot of people who support a cause. However they are always passionate about making a difference, and they lead in a way that makes others want to follow. In history an example of this would be when the colonies were trying to break away from Great Britain. It was leaders who were able to accomplish this by knowing their plan and going for it.
I thinks this quote means that if you believe in your self and you stay strong you will succeed. You don't have to have a big group of people to rebel. you just have to have a good plan. This can relate this to Rosa Parks not giving up her seat to a white person on the bus. Nixon helped Rosa Parks when she was arrested for violating the segregation laws in Alabama. It only takes a couple of people to get far. or to where you want to go.
I think that this quote means that you should fight for what you think is right. Also, you can make a difference. This relates to social activists because every cause starts with a few people, and soon it gains momentum. Once more people are involved, it really does make a difference. The one person who sticks out in my mind that this quote relates to is Rosa Parks. When she did not give up her seat on the bus, it sort of broke through a wall due to fear. Soon, people were stepping up and fighting for the cause. In the end they won, but without someone being the first to step up, there is no way to make the cause to be heard.

I think this quote means that it just takes a few people dedicated to a cause to stand up for what you believe in. and to go against the majority. This quote relates to being social activists because its the point that people are trying to make a difference in our lives. Something that people will look back and remember. Rosa parks can relate to this. She stud up for herself, and wouldnt move where she was sitting for a white person. Rosa Parks rebelling against the segregation laws changed history.
I think this quote means you don't need a bunch of people to overthrow or rebel as long as you have good leaders and a strong belief in what you are fighting for. This relates to social activism by standing up for a cause. If you feel something isn't right fare you should take a stand and defend your case. Even the littlest things can go along way. An example of this is when Rosa Parks stood up for herself and did not move when a white person wanted to sit in that seat. Although she was arrested this inspired the black community to fight harder for there civil rights. Another example is the bus boycotts and the sit ins preformed by the african americans although it wasn't major it still impacted and encouraged more and more people to join and stand up for there rights.

This quote means that a few people can make a big impact. To start a rebellion, it only takes a few determined leaders and a strong reason to rebel. Many people think that alone they cannot rebel, but this is untrue. If you feel very strongly about the cause, a few people and themselves can start a rebellion. This relates to being a social activist because it only takes determination to make a difference in the world. Most of the people in the world don't have to agree to make a change in the world. An example of this is the Civil Rights Movement. The people who wanted equality were outnumbered by those who didn't, yet they still made a change. Activists of that time felt so strongly about the subject that they were able to win over the majority and make a change in the society.
I think that this qoute means that to achieve something tou have to have a good and determined leader to succed. Poeple can get together and have an idea bu to achomlish this you have to have a leader. That leader should make a plan and follow thru with it. If they aren't determined it would never succed. This realates to being a social activist by you have to follow thru with your plans and have a good leader. This can relate to american history like during civil rights times. If people diddn't follow through and have a good leader things would have never been completed and there might even be segeragation today.

To me this quote means that you don't have to have a huge group to make a difference. Even one person can start a rebellion and that one person could make a huge difference. This relates to social activists because in class we talked about how an individual can make a difference. It wont necessarily make a difference right away but over time it could. In history we are learning about right now the civil rights movement. Martian Luther King Jr. didn't necessarily think that his speech and movements would change the entire world right away but he hoped that over time it would. And from him as a single person standing up for what he believed in changed our country in a big way. If he were to look at how much things have changed he would be happy to see his work on ending segregation paid off.

This quote means that if you have a good idea, or somthing that u think u should stand for it only takes you and maybe one other person to make that count. it only takes one person to change something. This quote relates to being a social activist because every group/ organization started with one person. One person said i want to make a change, and they did it. This relates to segregation in history because the K.K.K started with only a few people and grew into a huge ordeal. A few people started a revolution and many others followed after them. Also this could be related to the nazi's in germany. Hitler convinced everyone that the jews and everyone that wasnt perfect should be dead. Almost all of germany thought he had a great idea and they all soon followed him. He changed millions of peoples minds on how they should live and how life should be. Sometimes people stand up for the wrong things. But this quote helps millions start new lives for people who could really use it.
I think this quote means that you don't need to have a bunch of people to make a difference. All you need it a few people that are willing to get the job done and work as hard as they can to do that job. This relates to social ativists cuz that is what they do. They go and make a sound to try to get people to here about what they are talking about. Well this relates exactly to what we are learning about in U.S. History, segrigation. The blacks had to fight for their there rights and had to make the selves be heard. They spoke up about a cuase and they fought as hard as they could to get what they wanted.
Zack Ruffin
This means that it only takes one person with the determination and a plan to make something happen. Rebellion doesn't have to be some big event. Many people rebel against there parents and they're by themselves, most of the time. Social activism is very widespread spread your thoughts on a topic and enforce what they believe in. Social activism took place when the rest of the world along with the US army stood up to Hitler and his un-humane ideas. Also social activism took place when MLK Jr. stood up for African American rights. He protested about how wrong it was to be separated, have separate facilities and be treated differently just because of the color of his skin.

This quote shows the power of rebellion and how only a few people can get it started if they really want to. Sometimes when theres a majority they are just all following each other and the plan fails. If there is a few strong minded people then they are willing to fight for what they believe in and never give up. It relates to social activists because it encourages people to fight for what they believe in even if no one supports the cause. If you are determined and never let down then people will start to notice and help out. this relates to american history because lyndon johnson was one of those determined people and he got bills passed. The majorities really didn't do anything because there was always another majority that was greater like in the other house of congress. He wanted people to see him and support him.
"It doesn't take a majority to make a rebellion; it takes only a few determined leaders and a sound cause."
H L Mencken
this means that a rebellion can start with one ora few people. it doesn't need a huge group in order to begin. it all can start wiht and idea someone has and they tell others until it spreads and others join in. there can also be people who rebell by themselves. i dont know what is more effective. more people makes more of a point but one person shows that they really care about thier cause even if no one else agrees. if you want to make a point or stand up for something you have to act on it somehow or else nothing will ever get done about it. an example could be the civil rights movements. like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. who stood up for what they belived in no matter what. Rosa Parks went o jail and King was killed but they made an impact on people.
in my eyes, it means that it really only takes one person, who firmly believes in a situation. in some cases, that is good, and in some, it can be really hard to believe. more on the belief thing in a second.
it means that if you’re a social activist, for any cause, you don't need to convince the whole world of yourself, and you need not prove yourself to anyone but yourself. all you need to do is have a belief, and stick with it. till death, to the grave.
it doesn’t relate to U.S. History, but it does relate to opinions formed in your class, about formalized religion. If you are not aware, i am totally, and completely against all formal religions. now i am obviously no worshiper of the devil, but, in my eyes, i have come out of the nurturing shell of safety, and i have sen the truths.
because honestly, aren't many religions, are really based on peoples sole decisions to have people act right, and morale? well, your teaching, made me think about myself, and my life goals, and my morales. i have sen that, being separated from a church, of worship, helps me keep my ideals in mind. no, i agree that there is time to pay reverence, for something, and, in my own time, i do such. I think there is a god above us all, but honestly, can you live a life, thinking that there isn't anything there? that is something i can not accept, that there is nothing.
but, when people have taken their opinion on how the story was told, its really, in a way, just a book filled with stories, with morales behind them. So I say, why not live in now, why not believe in now? why not believe in ones self? because, in the end, that’s is the sole person i know who i can trust; myself, and my mind.
So, let everyone who choses to do so, believe in their stories, and the god they created, in the image of themselves, and i will believe in my books, and their morales, and what they have to say.
i do it because i can.
i do it because i can't accept that big of a bias.
i do it, solely for the fact, that when you let go of formal religion, you have not to obey their totalitarian rule.
because, they are the true rulers of the world.
The United states doesn’t run the world, neither does any other country. Religion rules all, and if we were to truly separate church from state, there would be no religion.
unfortunately, that will not happen, but trying to be as separate from the church, as spiritually possible, is on the starting path for what we set out to do, so long ago, in this great nation of ours.
i am letting go of all the guilt, and baggage that comes from religion. i pray for but one being, in the hopes that i am right; in that this being exists.
so thank you Mr. Kay, for your teachings. It has shown me the light, it has shown me the truth, and it has shown me that going past relying on something to formally believe in, and believing in something completely unique. I thank you for opening my eyes, and my mind; and the power and knowledge that comes with this sort of awakening.

"It doesn't take a majority to make a rebellion; it takes only a few determined leaders and a sound cause."
H L Mencken
What do you think this quote means? How does this quote relate to being social activists? How can this relate to something in American history that you have learned this year?
I thinmkt that this quote means that people only need a small motive to rebel and make a difference. It doesnt matter what it is, if you have a good reason you can change it. this relates to social activists because it takes a little thing to spark a change. Someone can do something small to get everyone to start making a difference. I tihnk that this year in american history we have learned many things about this. Now specifically, the civil rights movement. They had a huge deal to pick. They were being treated so unfairly.
i think that this quote means that if you have a plan to rebel agents something than you have a chance of succeeding. it relates to being social activists because it show standing up for hat you think is right. stand up for what you believe in shows the leader ship in that person.
It is after 11 at night an i just got the site to work so i will have the other blogs in on Sunday because i have a bunch of wedding stuff this weekend.
This quote means that anyone can lead a rebellion and that it doesn't take an entire group of people. Only one person needs to show how big a change can help out a group of people. This quote relates to social activists because it shows how great leaders can be active and get others to follow them. This als shows that if you take something to heart that one person can do anything. This relates to the american revolution because it started with only a few guys. The took over control of the country and made it better for others. Once everyone saw how great the new life was they all joined in. This showed how only a few great leaders can rebell and be socia activists.
It's the starting group who takes all the priviledge after the rebellion, we know as we saw in the real history as well as in the allegory "Animal Farm". As this quote says, it's only a few intelligent or forceful group who makes out the rebellion. And that's how the result of the rebellion is often miserable, inclined to the leading group. In American history, for example, the military supply companies were the one who led the America into World War I as they so. They made such propagandas to shove America into the war so as to they get benefits.
I think it means that you dont need everybody to rebell. You just need people who are commited to rebelling. For instance, when risi tried to rebell he didnt have everybody commited to it. People actually thought about the consequences of doing it. Few social activits actually do what they want to and take a stand. I think a great example in american history is Ghandi. Ghandi fought for world peace without violence. He took a stand and fought for what he believed in. Ghandi was a social activist.
