For Monday you must have read through chapter 8.
One of the themes in Animal Farm is Truth and Falsehood. What do you think this theme is talking about. Find me 3 examples thus far of this theme and internally cite them in your response. Then, give me an example in history or in your life when this theme was evident.
Have a great weekend.

I think the theme truth is talking about being true to what you believe in. Falsehood is talking about is not being who you actually are. My first example is when the animals sing the "Beasts of England" (9-10). Another one is the seven commandments (21). The last example is when Mollie goes away to live by a public house (42). An example in history is Joseph McCarthy. He was a person that was against communism. He lied about having a list of people that were communist.

Mr. Kay,
I think that the theme, Truth and Falsehood, means that everybody has a side. Either there mostly truthful, or they live with the lies. For example, Napoleon is (I believe) on the Falsehood side of the story. On page 31, Napoleon claims that he doesn't like milk and apples, he says that he only eats them to preserve his health. I think thats a big lie right there. Now Snowball on the other hand, he is (I believe) on the truthful side. On pages 44 - 45, it tells of how Snowball used to spend up to three hours at a time working on the plans for the wind mill, so that the animals could have light, be warm in the winter, and run electric tools. Squealer is (I believe) heading more and more toward the Falsehood side of the story, which is bad news. I think that Squealer feels like he has to be under Napoleon, and that if he didn't then he would be treated as Snowball was. On pages 50 - 51, Squealer is sent around to tell the other animals about Napoleon's plan. Once the other animals start to ask questions about Snowball, he had to lie to them and tell them that Snowball was no animal for there farm. A time in my life when the theme was evident would be, actually everyday. I hear all sorts of gossip, one person is saying the truth, while another is lying. It happens all the time.
Danielle Turner
To me, this means that the person who is more powerful and intelligent manipulate the people that are less educated. They do this by the manipulation of words. In Animal Farm, Orwell used the pigs who were more clever manipulated the other animals with words that they did not undedrstand. The other animals would believe what Snowball or Squealer to be the truth, after the pigs changed the meaning of what was said. For example when Snowball declared, "Four legs good, two leg's bad," was the essential principle of Animalism. the birds objected because they had two legs, but Snowball explained this away by saying that the birds wings were considered as legs (p. 29). Another example, was when the pigs took the apples and mild for themselves. "Comrades! you do not imagine, I hope that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, Comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig (p. 31). You know this was a bunch of bull. Lastly, after napoleon ran Snowball off the farm, Squealer went around the farm to make Napoleon look good, "Comrades, he said, I trust that every animal here appreciates the sacrifice that Comrade Napoleon has made in taking this extra labour upon himself. Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure." (p. 50)_ Squealer was trying to manipulate the others that Napoleon was working extra hard for them.
The theme of Truth and Falsehood is denfintly one of the stronger theme in Animal Farm, i think it means that there is choice if you want to lie or tell the turth. Some examples of this theme are would have to be the famous time that Mollie was questioned by Clover "He didn't! I wasn't! It isn't true!" (Orwell 42). This is when Mollie was stuck in a conner and she picked Falsehood over telling the truth to get her out. The whole thing about the windmill is all a bunch of lies "Napoleaon annouced that the windmill was going to be built after all." (Orwell 52). I belive that Napoleaon was jealous of Snowball's plans and he knew that the animals favored the plan. So he lied and told the animals that it was his idea first to build a windmill stealing his ideas completely. This moraly wrong decison that Napoleaon is making and has made i think will bite him in the butt, later in the story. A third example is about the about the Sixth Commandment in chapter 8 "It ran: "No animal shall kill any other animal without cause."(Orwell 80). This i belive is the worst lie yet in the book, changing a Commandment to fit a certian situation where you find your back agaist the wall. In history we are talking about Dwight D. Eisenhower and his running mate Richard Nixon. First thing that comes to your mind when you think of Nixon or see his name,? Yep the Watergate scandal Nixon had the choice to lie or to tell the truth, and he lied about the scandal, making things worse for him.

The theme is talking about how animals are telling lies but they believe them and think its the truth. Napoleon and Squealer were the ones making all these false statements and the animals believed them and thought they were the truth. On page 51, it talks about how Squealer tells the animal that Napoleon doesn't really want the leadership and that its not a joy to him. That is a lie and it is deceiving. On page 50 and 51, it also talks about how he had to tell the other animals that snowball is evil. Squealer is saying this and was taking the most loyal animal and just turning him into lies. On page 80, it talks about how the pigs changed the commandments to say that animals wouldn't be killed without a cause. They are lying and telling the other animals that their memorys are bad and they are just imagining things. An example from my life is when people are saying one thing to my face and another to my back. They are telling their friends the things they think are true and putting on a fake smile for me and stabbing me in the back at the same time by being false.
I think this theme trut is saying stick to what you believe in. Falsehood to me is not being who you are, being fake. The first theme would be the seven commandments (21) A nother one would be when mollie leaves the farm. and goes to a public house.(42) the last one is of how Snowball used to spend up to three hours working on the plans for the wind mill. So the animals could live happily.(44-45) A time would in live would be wen my mom was younger, people used to make fun of my mom for te way she talks. this shows the theme becuase it shows people werent being fair, and showing their falsehood.
I think that the theme of Truth in this story is what you think is right. But Falsehood is like taking on a life of lying and deception. As in you lie to people to get what you want. For example, on page 31, Squealer tells everybody that the pigs dislike milk and apples. He pretty tell them this so that they can get the milk and apples for themselves. Then, on page 61-62, Squealer also says that sleeping in beds was not forbidden by the 7 comandments. And that as long as they didn't have sheets that it was fine. Which is a total fib used to be able to sleep in the beds. Finally, on page 73, Squealer makes a bold statement that Napolean played a major part in the Battle of the Cowshed, but he didn't do that and the animals know it but they still believewhat Squealer tells them.
A time in history when this theme was evident would be when McCarthy started the whole McCarthyism thing. He told lies about others so that they would be arrested for communism. And he supposedly had a "list of Commys in his pocket" which was a complete lie.

I think that truth is what really happened, not what people make it seem like it happened. Falsehood is giving the fake impression. My first example is when Squealer explains to the others that they should appreaciate that Napolean is taking over (pg 50) making him seem like the good guy. My second is where Squealer says that Snowball's part was exagerated (pg 51) makeing Snowball seem like the bad guy. My last is when Mollie denied allowing the man across the fense to pet her (pg. 42) when we later find out that she was with the other side. An example of this would be when a person I know is friendly with a person and act like they are the best of friends but when the person leaves, they start talking all this crap about them. They are showing Falsehood because they are makeing themselves out to be something that isn't true. Sooner or later the truth ends up comeing out who the person really is.

I think that the theme means that all the animals are told false statements but they think its the truth. They don't believe it is at first but after persuasion they then think its true. This theme has been showing up a lot lately. Especially with Snowball and Squealer messing with the animals heads about the truth and lies. One example of this is on page 61 when Clover looks at the commandments and sees the fourth one says " No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets". The with sheets part wasn't there before but Snowball and Squealer just want to make the animals think they were imagining everything before, and they think its the truth. A second example is on page 31 when Napolean says to the animals how the pigs need the milk and apples more because they have to think more and so the apples and milk will help. They say that all the animals are equal and when all the animals question that Squealer will persuade them to think of it as the right thing to do. And the last example is on page 80, it says how the pigs changed the commandments to say that animals wouldn't be killed without a cause. And again this is showing that the animals were told one thing and now they are being brainwashed into thinking a completely different idea for the benefit of Snowball. An example of the real world is when people twist the truth into a whole new story. A story may start off true but as more and more people say it, it becomes more and more false.

The theme truth comes into play when the animals lie to each other. Animals stole milk, and lied. Snowball and Napoleon needed and need o be always truthful o the farm. Falsehood is when someone leads someone on. Also, its when you lie or give fake facts. Squaler is a great example of this because he tells the animals the sugar coated or fake version of napoleon. On pages 51 and 52 squaler talks to the animals about napoleon and makes him better than he sounds. I was told by my parents that we were all going to do something for my birthday, but they ended up going ouwith oher people instead of going out with me. This was a great example because they lied, which is falsehood.

An example of truth and falsehood in my life is when my sister tells me that she is going to take me to a concert to appease me and knows that my mom and dad will say "no". She manipulates the situation by making herself look good, when she knows the outcome will be that my parents are not goint to let me go to a concert on a Sunday night.
On pages 44 - 45, it tells of how Snowball used to spend up to three hours at a time working on the plans for the wind mill, so that the animals could have light, be warm in the winter, and run electric tools. And again this is showing that the animals were told one thing and now they are being brainwashed into thinking a completely different idea for the benefit of Snowball. An example of the real world is when people twist the truth into a whole new story.
Truth and Falsehood are clearly shown in this story. The animals are trying to be true to themselves by banding together. THis is shown when they all make the 7 commandments on page (27). This is also shown when they sing "Beast of England"(9-10) which acts like are National Anthem. Falsehood is also shown by the pigs, they tell the rest of the animals they are equal but they get more rewards then the other animals. The pigs think sense they are smarter then the other animals they deserve special treatment. The pigs often disobey the 7 commandments like on pg (69) when Napoleon kills the hens. These themes recently happened in Detroit when the citizens believe and trusted Kwame. Kwame overused his power and stole money from the city of Detroit and also lied to them much like the pigs stealing the milk.

Mr.Kay,
I think the themes are talking about Meaning what you say, and being loyal and true to yourself and others. My first example from the story is on page 22. When the cows had first been milked and napolean said not to worry about the milk and when they came back, it was gone. The pigs had taken the milk and not shared it with the other animals, and they were all suposse to be equal. An example of truth is on page 25. The part in the story when Boxer makes his own motto, " I will work harder." I think Boxer is trying to stay true to the farm and become a hard worker. My Last example is an example of falsehood on page 42. When Mollie had been asked if she let the man pet her she said no. Mollie lied about talking to a human and told everyone it was not true. A time in history that gave the example of truth and falsehood is when Bush said there was nuclear weapons but they never found any.

The theme truth or falsehood, I believe means that you have a choice, wither to tell the truth, or to lie. On page 42 of Animal Farm, Mollie gets question to where she has been lately, and why she was spotted at another farm, with a strange man stroking her nose. As soon as she gets question, she starts to panic, lying saying that she wasn't there, the man wasn't stroking her nose, and saying that the information Clover has received was false. Another example is on page 51. Squealer tells the animals that Napoleon does not really want to have the "title" that's not why he was running, he was running so he could be leader. One again, this is not true. Squealer is telling all the animals this because he is helping Napoleon trying to win their election. As for a third example on page 52, Napoleon announced that the windmill would be built. The reason I think Napoleon wanted to build the windmill is because he knew that Snowball had a better chance of winning, because of his plan. He started to envy Snowball and his plan, and was afraid that with this plan, Snowball would win. Napoleon was not about to let that happen. The animals on the farms are telling lies because they think it's the right thing to do, that's how they will get what they want if they change the truth and make it false. An example in my life, is where guy and girls {mostly girls) going around telling people stuff about me that is not true. There was a incident this year when this happened, but that's all in the past. Girls will do anything to get someone else back. I however, do not like to take part in this. This is how the theme Truth and Falsehood, relates in my life.

Truth and falshood appear a lot in the book. Truth is when you be loyal and do whats best for your country, in this case farm. I think falsehood means that you only care about yourself and whats best for you. In the book i think napolean displays falsehod. For Example on pg 49, "He announced that from now on the sunday morning meetings would come to an end". Another example of falsehood is Squealer. On pg 52 "Squaler explained privately to the other animals had in reality never been opposed to the windmill". Finnaly an example of truth would be snowball. Pg 20" It is half past six and we have a long day of work ahead of us". He is truthfull about work and he cares for the animals. An example of this in my life is everyday. You hear gossips that arent true and people just wanna be cool.

Truth means being honest to yourself and others. Falsehood means your going against you and others beliefs. One example from the book is on page 21. On this page, it discusses the 7 commandments. This is an example of being truthful to yourself and others by setting new standards. Another example is on page 42 which is where Mollie was a true example of Falsehood. Clover catches a human petting Mollie and being spolied with sugar and bows. Mollie went against Animalism and eventually left the farm. The last example is on page 48. Napolean signals for the dogs he trained to burst onto the scene and chase off his enemy, snowball. This is Falsehood by intimidating comrades and making himself more powerful than the other animals. An example in my life was when I didnt study for a final exam my freshman year. I went against myself and my family.

I think the theme truth is talking about being true to your opinion. And falsehood is not being who you actually are. One I find to be truth is when they sing Beast of England (p9-10). Another would be when the wrote the 7 commandments(21). Later in the story the 7 commandments can also be considered falsehood because Napoleon uses the dogs to attack Snowball. Another example of falsehood is when the pigs say they need to eat the apples and milk to be able to think and make better choices(p31). I think one of the biggest people in history that said a lot of falsehood would be McCarthy. He claimed to having list of people that were communist. He also bashed people on public TV is he thought they were communist.

Well in animal farm I think there is not that much truth. Boxer is about the only one who is truthfull to napolean. On the other hand there is a lot of falsehood. Not all of the animals like napoleans ideas. They are forsed into believing what napolean does I'd right. First boxer always says napolean is always right. I think boxer thinks that is true. Another is the animals not agreeing with napolean and has to have squeler conferme there minds. Another is poeple not beleiving the 7comandments. The all don't agree that they are the right ones. This is like when the Jews in Germany were getting taken over. They all had falsehood in beleiving In what Hitler said.
Zack ruffin
I think this theme truth is saying stick to what you believe in and you trust what other people say. Falsehood to me is not being who you are, being fake, and not truthful. The first theme would be the seven commandments (21). second, is when Mollie goes away to live by a public house (42). Next, when Squealer explains to the others that they should appreaciate that Napolean is taking over (pg 50) making him seem like the good person. Im gonna talk about being truthful. like when my parents ask me if i was doing something that io wasnt supposed to then i tell the truth because they will have more respect for me. I always tell me parents the truth cuz they know if im lying. Im a really bad liarr..... (:

I think the theme of truth is the equality that the animals at first truly believe their is. The falsehood is how they try to keep animals thinking later on that there is even something close to equality on the farm. (27) The meeting always ended with the Beasts Of England. Even the cat joined the re education committee for some days. I think this is an example of the truth there once was. (50) Comrades said squealer, I trust everyone appreciates the sacrifice comrade Napoleon has made to pick up extra labor on the farm. This is an example of falsehood because Boxer is truly the hardest working, always picking up extra labor. All the animals worked like slaves, and in August Napoleon announced that there would be work on Sunday's. This shows that Napoleon to when they usually just had meetings and sang the Beasts Of England made them work. He took their celebration day and just took it away from him. A time in history when this had happened was in the presidential elections. Everyone having faith in a specific candidate, would believe the lies that they spoke about the other candidate. Sometimes these lies would be so off base it was hard to believe the truth.
The theme of truth and falsehood is about how sometimes what may appear to be the truth may in actuality be false. This appears in Animal Farm many times, and it seems that it is occurring more often now that Napoleon is the leader. The animals think that they are being told the truth when they are really being lied to by Napoleon and Squealer. When the animals wonder where the milk has been going, they learn the part of the truth, which is that the pigs have been eating it. The other part of the story they hear is from Squealer, who says, “Our sole object in taking these is to preserve our health… It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples.” (Orwell, 31) Another example of where the animals think they are being told the truth is when Napoleon takes the puppies to teach. He says that he will, “…make himself responsible for their education.” (Orwell, 30) In reality, he is actually teaching them how to intimidate others and follow him. Yet another example is when the pigs move into the farmhouse and took up their residence there. They start to sleep in the beds, which the animals are told about. When Clover reads the commandments though, it says that, “No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets.” (Orwell, 61) The animals think that it is ok because the pigs do not sleep with sheets, but when the original commandments were written, the part that said, “with sheets” was never there. An example of this theme in history that fits perfectly is when Hitler tells the people at Red Cross that he was taking care of the Jews. When Red Cross came to check and see the prisoners’ living conditions, he had his people set up fake sinks and bathrooms to make it appear that they were living well, when in reality, they were starving and had horrible living conditions.

i think this theme is talking about how the pigs change the whole idea of equality. the are telling all the animals to be fair and truthful about everything so the farm keeps harmony. soon the pigs turn things around and manipulate situations so they benifit.like on page 22 when the milk disappears and it ends up in the hands of the pigs. also on page 31 when Squealer explained to the animals why the pigs needed to eat all the aapples. on page 30 it talks about how Napoleon takes the puops and teaches them. everyone trusts him and doesn't think much of what he could be filling their minds with. however, they soon figure out that he has been making them belive his ways because they are so young and this leads to them chasing Snowball off the farm. a time in my life where this theme was evident could be in friendships. sometimes people don't always turn out to be who you thought they could be. they never fill that potential and end up disappointing you. or you could trust them and they could just go behind your back and use it against you.
I would say that truth is being true to the 7 commadments and to your comrades. Falsehood, on the other hand, is being something your not and for this is like being human. Well i already said one and that the 7 commadments (p. 21). another one is when snowball wants to build the windmill to help out the farm (p.44). Last is when the animals and convinced by Squeler into blieving other ideas (p.51). Well both these themes have been evident in my life. However Falsehood is one i will talk about. Wheni was little i would just agree with others on what they thought to try to fit it and that is just trying to be some one else.
Ty Bouwens, 6th hour
Truth and False hood is a theme in this book bevause it deals with the truth and things that aren't true. This theme is talking about how the truth and falsehood realates to your life. The first example of this is, when the pigs took the apples and milk for themselves. (pg 31) "Comrades!" he cried. You do not imagine ,I hope, that we pigs are doing thid in a sprit of selfishness and privilage? The pigs were misleading the other animals when they could have given them some of the apples. Another example is when Napolean took the dogs and was giving them an "education". (pg 30)Napolean took them away from their mothers, saying he would make it resopnible for their education. (Pg 50) But suddenly the dogs let out a deep, manacing graowls, and the pigs feel silent. The dogs weren't gettong the education you thought they would. Another example is When Napolean decided to build the windmill agian. (Pg 52) Squealer said that Naploean has neber really opposed the idea of the wind mill. This is misleading because he peed on the blue prints. A time in my life when this was evident was when I broke a window. I diddn't tell the trutht and piad the conceqences.

those themes to mean that the animals on the farm can use there power against the less intelligent. in the book the pigs would say things to the less smart and they really would not understand so they were being takin advantage of. my first example: "he wasnt! i wasnt! it isnt true! cried mollie.(42) mollie was being corned by clover she didnt no what to do, the falsehood was forcing her to listen to the untrue. another example,It had to come to be accepted that the pigs, who were manifestly cleverer than the other animals, should decide all the questions of farm policy, though their decisions had to be ratified by majority vote. (43) this was saying that the other animals rarely could speak what they wanted to, snowball would tell the animals "four leg good, two leg bad" as long as the pigs made a decision the other animals would rarely disagree, they believed it was all true. my last example: No one believes more firmly than comrade napoleon that all animals are equal. he would be to happy to let you make your own decisions for yourselfs. but sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and where should we be? (50) snowball was saying that the animals arent as smart as napoleon so they cant make their own decisions.

I think that the theme of Truth and Falsehood is talking about what the animals think is the truth and what the truth really is. Napoleon and Squealer are feeding the animals false information and are covering up the truth with their own lies. On pages 63 and 64 Napoleon and Squealer begin to blame all the bad things happening on the farm on Snowball. They said he knocked down the windmill, was an undercover spy for Mr. Jones, and all sorts of false information to the animals. They did this so that the other animals on the farm saw Snowball as a lying, horrible pig, which in turn raised Napoleon's popularity because he had stayed "loyal" to them the whole time. The truth is that Snowball was a much better leader than Napoleon, and Napoleon wanted the power to himself. On page 87, more falsehood was spread by Napoleon. His ties with the other farmers were kept very secretive and when it seemed as if Napoleon was working with Pilkington, he then made a deal with Frederick. This is another lie Napoleon had told the animals. He never told them when or why he was speaking to the animals, except for vague explanations. The third example of the theme Truth and Falsehood is on page 61. This is the first occurrence of when Napoleon had Squealer change the seven commandments. Because the animals could not read or remember them well, Napoleon knew he could get away with changing the rules to fit his needs.
So far in the book, we have seen the theme Truth and Falsehood. I think this theme means that the animals are believing lies that are stated by the pigs. Its kind of going with the meaning of being gullable. This happens a lot as the book goes on. For example on page 31, it says how the milk and apples have been stolen. The animals learn that the pigs have been eating them. But Squealer lies and says that the pigs need the milk and apples for their health. Another example is on page 80. When Napolean changes the commandments because he knows that they cant read, so he could get way with it. Finally, on page 50, Squealer was telling all the animals that Napolean wanted to be a leader to help them, and that he was working extra hard for them. This theme could be evident in real life, like trusting your friend, and then they go behind your back and talk about you.
Clare Pathe
I think being truthful means being true to yourself as well as others. Also maybe sacrificing something if it will help people instead of just thinking about yourself. Falsehood is when you aren't true to yourself. You act in a different way around different people and be someone your not. In the beginning of the story, most of it was truthful. Now that we are getting deeper into the story, the lies are starting to come out. An example of the falsehood would be shown on page 42 when Mollie lies about talking to the humans over the fence. She could have told the truth to Clover but she denied any contact with them. Another example of falsehood could be found on page 50-51 when Sqealer is making Napolean look good and make Snowball look bad. This is obviously false because Snowball was trying to help the famr, and Napolean justs wants power and obedience. An example of truth is on page 44 and 45 when it shows that Snowball was really trying to help the animals and the farm. It explained how he used to spend countless hours working on plans for the windmill so that the workload of the animals could be reduced. In my life, truth is shown by being who I am. I don't try and put on a show so that people will be my friends.
Mr. Kay,
I think that the idea of Truth and Falseness is a really big theme. I think this because you see it on an everyday basis in ones life. You always have to think about what is the truth and what is a lie. Actually, I think to make the theme a bit more understandable, it should be changed to Sincerity and Falseness. See, you’ll go through a ton of true statements in a day. Pretty much if you talk you are either lying or telling the truth. But if you change it, it has more of an impact. See, you can simply do/say something true, but if you are sincere, then you are just making it sound like you are really stand behind what you said and you are really supporting what you say and that it is not just a statement. On page 61, you see of coarse Napoleon being full of lies. He lies to everyone and tells them that he is aloud to sleep in a human bed, but not with sheets, which is just going technical on the amendments. We constantly see Snowball being sincere about his plans and such. As we see on page 46, He really stands behind what he says about the Windmill. He says he would never deny it would be hard, but it was necessary( This isn’t a great cite/example and its not exact). This really shows how he really wants what’s best for the animals, no matter what it takes. Sincerely. Squealer is a bit different. He is always in the middle of truth and lies but usually gets away on a technicality. On page 51, he simply uses scare tactics to make his point seem more true. He says that loyalty and obedience is needed in battle, and at the end of the paragraph, he just says, “Would you like Mr. Jones to come back?” As you can see, he is simply saying that just to get people to come to his side. I see this, like I said, in everyday life. You are always needing to question if someone is being honest or not. You also need to wonder if someone is really standing behind what they said. For example, I really question most of my classes, wondering if they are just feeding is a bunch of junk or if the subject is something a teacher can really stand behind. One class would be yours.(not to suck up). I really think that you really believe in what you teach and that its more than just “something we have to learn.” Well either way, I think this theme is very important in everyone’s life.

I think the theme is talking about being truthfull and not making things up. Being truthful is being telling the truth and not making false statements. Falsehood is false statements so the to kind of go together good. My first example from the book is the 7 commandments the animals established (21). One of the commandments is all animals are equal. Napoleon isnt being equal to all the other animals so that would fall under truth. Another example is when she was caught by Clover by a guy stroking her nose (42). This would fall under falsehood becasue she is lying and Clover knows that it is true. A third example is when Squealer tells all the other animals that Napoleon wasnt opposed to the windmill all along (52). He tells them it was actually his own idea. This would fall under falsehood also because Squealer is lying for Napoloen to try and make him look good. An example of this that happened in my life was when I lied about doing my homework and then my parents went online and found out I didnt do it. I got troubls and faced the consequences.

Mr. Kay,
I think that the theme of truth and falsehood means people figuring out which way that they want to go. As we can see, Squealer is on the falshood side. For example,(50) Squealer goes around telling everybody about Napoleons plans. Another example is Napoleon is obdiously on the falsehood side of everything. He only knows how to do one thing right. And that is to manipulate all of the other animals and make them believe false things.(80) Napoleon made the amendment that no animal shall be killed, but yet he executed 9 total animals. (48) Napoleon sends out his dogs to go and attack snowball.

I think this them means that the pigs are practicing falsehood by lying, and the other animals are believing them thinking that's the truth becasue they are too stupid to know whats really going on. One example, is on page 31, where Squealer lies to the other animals about how the milk and apples are being used by the pigs but for their benefit. He persuades everyone that, since the pigs are the brains of the farm, that they need the food to help out the whole society. Also, on page 51, it talks about how Napoleon isn't really enjoying the leadership role. It is in fact hard work, and the other animals believe it becasue of Squealer's persuasive talking. Lastly, a third example is on page 61 when the pigs change the 7 Commandments. This is an example becasue it shows how the other animals belive it's right when it is really not. I think all politicians use this theme. So, in my life, listening to the politicians, I can tell what things follow this theme. For example, if Obama says that he's going to make something happen, he might not have that power. The only difference, is that I can spot these lies and the naimals on Animal Farm cannot.
i believe your ta;king about how squealer can bend him words to make things true.
ex 1. becoming the villain. they are becoming what they hate the most, and not even knowing it.
ex. 2 truth in advertising. obviously not so much here, but we see that it doesn’t really exist, and that their media can misleading.
ex 3. the government owns you. because here, they are directly able to dictate everything.
i had the truth in advertising thing kinda happen, cause people were saying one thing, and meaning another behind my back, so, it really was a bad thing. it hurt me, and now its hard to believe what people put out there.
Truth i would have to say is be honest and just tell the damn truth. Lying does nothing nor does it resolve anything. Hummm souns like someone i know. I wonder who that could be!!!? I would also have to say falsehood would mean that be who you are and not who you thing you are or should be. Dont be fake and people will live you for who you are. THATS IF YOU DONT LIE ABOUT EVERYTHING cough cough. I would have to talk about the commandments. And relating to something in history would have to be presadent Bush. He did nothing for this country but f it up. Selfish peace!!
hey mister kay sorry about my blogs being late. My stupid peace comp and my internet are being really gay. Sorry for them being late.

I think that this theme talks about how people given the truth. But the truth is modified so it helps the person telling it but it is a lie. In the book when the animals found out what happened to the milk and the apples that disappeared the pigs told them that they had taken it and told them that they did not like the milk and apples. And they eat it to have energy to help the benefit of the farm. (pg 31) After Napoleon took power Squealer made it sound like that Napoleon taking up power is a hard and extra work in order to benefit the farm. (pg 50) On pg 73 Napoleon and Squealer tell about the battle of the Cow Shed how Snowballs force retreated it was a show of cowed nest instead part of the plan. And this lie was to tell the animals that Snowball was in league with Mr. Jones. An example of this in history is when Joseph McCarthy had said that he had a list, of 57 communists in the government. There was but not that many communist.
One of the themes in Animal Farm is Truth and Falsehood. What do you think this theme is talking about. Find me 3 examples thus far of this theme and internally cite them in your response. Then, give me an example in history or in your life when this theme was evident.
I think this theme is people saying things to be truthful and then no following through and them being false. One of these is when mollie lies and says she was not talking to anyone else. "He didn't! I wasn't! It isn't true!" (42). Next, the time when Napoleon praises the seven commandments. Especially the one about not harming any other animal (21). Lastly, when they lie about eating the apples. "“Our sole object in taking these is to preserve our health… It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples.” (Orwell, 31) I my life a time when someone lied to me and said it was truthful was when, i was told that buying some product at a hockey expo would help me. It didnt at all, i believed all of the facts, but it didnt work.
I think that this theme meens that your not being true to who you are and showing everyone a different personm instead of just one. Everyone lies about things. One example is like on page(9-10) when they are singing the beasts of eangland song. They werent being true to how life is supose to be with the humans ruling over the animals. On page (51) Squeeler tells everyone that Napolean doessnt enjoy being the leader. That is lieing. They try to make everyone believe what Napolean says is all true. On page (80) it talks about how they say that the animals memories are no good and that one of the laws thay made never happened. A time in my life when this theme has been noticed is mostly every day. Gossip is like this everyone does it but most the time its not true.

Truth and Falsehood is the major theme of Animal Farm. for example Napoleon and Squealer take responsibility for coming up with the windmill plan, which ofcourse wasn't true. (52) Another example is when Snowball is falsely accused for being the reason the windmill was knocked down. that snowball was plotting his vengeance, even though there was no evidence of it. (63) and the third example is how the pigs changed the commandments. the commandment now said that no animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets. which wasn't the original commandant. (62)the pigs are being dishonest to the farm. This theme takes place a lot in everyday life. for example today my mom was in a hurry and asked me where here shoes were. i told her that i hadn't seen them and she accused me of wearing them last. in fact they were just hidden under some clothes, which she later apologized for.
Sry Mr.Kay, I was really sick all weekend.
I think that falsehood would be leaning towards how Napoleon and squealer talk about the wind mill. (pg.53) I also think that the truth to napoleons view on how the farm is supposed to run is when he starts to say how hes just doing what Major wanted. (Pg.51) Also I think that the pigs are a load of crap saying that they need more "brain food" than the rest of them. I think they are lying just for their own personal gain. (Pg. 44) I think that these themes are always in our life. Everyday someone might make a white lie to you. My mom always makes white lies to me about my birthday or Christmas stuff so she can surprise me.

This theme is talking about how people, or aniamls in this case, lie then say it is the truth. Another way I perceive it is that some people are the truthful type and will always stand by the truth and others will constantly lie. People will always try to lie to get their way and i think this is what the theme means. One example was on page 31. Napoleon says that the pigs need the apples and milk as brainfood. This will help them hold off the humans and keep the farm to themselves. This is definitely on the side of Falsehood. The animals believe that this is true because it was a convincing story. Another example from the story was when Napoleon talks about the "education of the young". This is easily on the side of Falsehood because he wants to educate the young in his frame of mind. He only wants to make them smart so he can play leader until he dies. My final example would be on the Falsehood side again because right after the dog incident on pages 48 and 49 Sqealer spoke out about the incident. He said everybody must believe in Napoleon and he makes Snowball look like a fool. He tells lies so everybody now believes in Napoleon becuase of his power and beliefs. This theme was evident in my life when it came time to tell my dad about sports. I hated baseball and I never wanted play it but I was too afraid to tell him. However I decided not to tell a lie one day and I finally told him that I hated baseball and he was proud of me.

I think that the Truth part might have to deal with the truth that the animal's life is just like the humans. The are working and living the same ways humas do. Like when Napolean and Snowball are pretty much getting elected in chapter 5 and Napolean runs snowball off with the dogs. (51-52) Also the falsehood is kind of like how the pigs are lying to all of the other animals. All the animals want milk but because the pigs want it too they say that it is in the best interest of the group if the pigs use it. They say that they don't even like it but they must have it. (45) Now useing both truth and falsehood, when they set up the 7 commandments on page 21. They are suppose to be truthful to eachother and not kill of hurt. But the falsehood is all there. Napolean trys to hurt Napolean and he makes it so not everyone is equal. In history the truth was suppose to be that there were a bunch of communists in our government. McCarthy set up a book and accused many people. The Falsehood was that there were not as many communists as mentioned in McCarthy's book. This hurt our nation and ruined many lives.
I think that the theme of truth in animal farm is talking about being true to yourself. It is telling you that if you are not true yourself than you will not suceed. If you do not succeed then you will not be able to concure over something, as they did on manor farm. Also you must be able to be a truthful leader, unlike napolean. He says that their is total equality, but their isn't. He minipulates every animals mind to believe what he believes is the best. When he doesn't get his way he lashes out and intimidates the other animals so they think the same way.

6th hour,
Mr. Kay sorry this is late, i had to go to my cousins graduation party all weekend and haven't had the time to do it until now. also i didn't have my book with me this weekend so i could not cite the pages where the theme of truth was shown so please give me full credit for this.
What judges an object true or false relies on the judge itself. The more eager you are to find out the truth, the more true facts you get to have. It's same as the opposite side, the more ignorant you are, the more false fact you get to have. In this allegory, truth and falsehood are the main keys of pigs to control over the animal farm. For examples, when Snowball was scared away by the dogs suddenly rushed into the farm, the rest of the animals are only informed by Napoleon that Snowball was a betrayer without a sufficient evidence. In the case of when the windmill collapsed, Snowball was "sentenced", not suspected, to death for the destruction of the windmill as well. Besides, even when the pigs were found to be sleeping on men's beds, which was prohibited as it was written on the seven commandments, Squaler claimed that it was necessary for brain power and exploited the supposition of Mr.Jones's back to threaten the animals that they won't have any further doubts. They're all about the exploitation of the unproved facts, which means even though they can be either true or false, still they have larger likelihood to be suspected of being false, since it's got no evidence. As amplifying this them, I can apply this theme to the situation among Mid West Asian countries. What we all know about them is there are bunch of terrorists who try to kill people, but even the facts we heard came from their enemies. We may possibly have a doubt of it.
I think that they are talking about the truth. In the end the pigs are wearing clothes and walkin on there hind legs. When they sing the beasts of england song they were not telling the truth. I that they need to tell the truth. If every animal is equal then they need to be equal. That is bs. They need to talk fairly.
