Day 3

Examine the song "Beasts of England" as poetry. What imagery is present? What is the message? Why do the animals like it so much that they memorize it on the spot? To what emotions and needs does it appeal? Have you ever heard a song that meant something to you more than just the music; where the words reach out? What song and why?

When i think of the song "beasts of england" i see everything they're sayong clean as day; as if i were there. The message i think that the animals are trying to get acroos is, that they will stoop at nothing until they rule over Man. The animals memorize the song on the spot because it speeks to them and their hard ways, and plus its kinda a catchy tone. The emotional parts that stand out make the animals feel helpless and unwanted, but in reality the humans would be nothing without them. I can't say that i've ever hurd a song to such a strong magnitude that ment so much to me, more than just the music itself.

Mr.Kay,
Thinking of Beasts of England as poetyr creates a very optimistic image of how the future looks. I think mainly the poem would be saying the day is coming that we as animals will soon be free. The animals probally like this so much becsaue they can connect to it and say really belive the time is coming and they will be free. The peom really plays on the fellings of the animals just wanting to be free and treated fairly. In my own life i actually have heard a song that really stuck ou tto me and still does to this day. It's called I will always love you by dolly Parton. The reason is kind of weird but i guess i could try to tell it. When my mom was on the way to the hospital to have me this song was playing on the radio. When i was born the song was also playing. On the way home from the hospital to bring me home it was on the radio once agian. And, now whenever something big is abou to happen to me in my life it ends up playing, whether on my ipod or the radio or something. It's kind of weird but at the same time sind of cool.

The poem/song "Beasts of England" has a very strong message if you think about it. It is saying that the "Tyrant man shall be o'rthrown" which means that the humans, in this case Mr. Jones, will be no more. The rest of the poem tells how the animals will live better withour the whips and they will have food and it will be peaceful. The animals like it so much on the spot and memorize it becasue they like the message and they can already feel the motivation to want this freedom coming on to them. IT appeals to the fact that every animal wants to be treted better. The poem says that they will no longer be harnessed or deprived of food, and the animals like that. I have heard a song that meant more to me than just the music. That song is "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey. The words really reach out to keep trying. It is about more than just the fate of two people. The phrase "some will win...some will lose" couldn't be more true. So it really inspires me.

The imagery present in "Beasts of England": "Bright will shine the fields of England" This gives you the picture in your mind of the animals looking over the fields in victory once they have rid humans of their fields. Their fields will then be peaceful and shine brightly. The message is that once they have overthrown man, they will rejoice in the fruits of the land. The animals memorize it on the spot because it sends a message of what the future could be (a golden future). The animals like the thought of being rid of the humans running their fields. Once the tyrant man is gone they will receive oats, wheat, barley & hay. Emotionally it appeals to the animals because the song is uplifting to them and gives them the hope of not having to deal with man and they will reap the benefits of their fields. A song that comes to mind is the "Battle Hymn of the Republic". This was sung during the American Civil War. The beat and the lyrics stand out because they gave the soldiers a reason to keep marching on- Christ gave his life for us and the soldiers must make men free. The words and the beat of the song are uplifting and you can picture the men marching and singing this song across the battlefields.

In the song "beasts of england" i can tell what they're saying. This song is basicly about how the animals wont stop until they take over the human race. They memorize the song because it speeks how they feel. The emotions is them feling helpless. I think that in real life the humans would be nothing without the animals. We get our food and everything from them. i dont think i have ever really heard a song that has that much meenign to me.

Mr. Kay,
When I read/hear the song "Beasts of England," I think of rebellion. I also can't help but think about an epic war between animals and humans. They just fight it out after the animals get sick of their conditions. The message is that the world is a good place, just some are put into these positions they don't want to be in. So they rebel. They speak about how the world will be better after they take over and how they'll live to the fullest potential. I think that the animals memorize it on the spot because it really speaks to them. They really understand it and can relate to it so it just sticks. It appeals to idealism. They really want to be the kings of the farm and England. They want this freedom so bad. There isn't many songs that really speak to me like this one does to animals, but if I had to say something speaks to me, it would be the song "This is a Product" by Heirs. It begs questions about where music really is and how neglected the soul in music is now a days and how it sort of takes a stand against it. I really believe in music being something real and not just stupid junk that really means nothing. This is what I think of Beasts of England and its connections to me.

The song "Beasts of England" imagery is how the futrue is going to be. The message is that only the animals will be in England. I think the animals memorize the song because its about them and how they one day might be the only ones there. The emotions and needs that it appeals is that it makes the animals happy and greatful because they won't have to be told to do nothing. A song that the words were reach out is called "Second Chance" by shine down. It kind of reach out to me probabley because of the music. Also, because what I think the song was saying is that if you give up something for a while you can go back.

"Beasts of England" really shows how the animals feel in the story. The imagery is extremely clear on the feeling each one of them is experiencing. Thee message of this song/poem is that animals need to stand up and have the right to be free from everything and everyone. Animals should be treated as people are. The animals memorize this on the spot because they love the message. They all believe what Old Major is saying is true. They want their freedom which makes them want to listen to the lyrics or words even more. The emotions is appeals to are happiness, freedom, love and energy. The song gives them hope and allows them to believe they can livve alone together. I really don't have a song that spoke out to me other than the words of the song. I memorize nearly every song I hear but I never felt as strong because of a song like the animals did in the book.

The first thing that came through my mind when I heard this song was. "This song is way to long." I think it represents the happy future of the animals. The message is of what their lives could be in the near future if The Man" was out of the picture. I think they memorize it on the spot because of that reason and that the fact that all of them really like the idea of being free and doing whatever they please. This poem plays the emotions of happiness and anger. I have heard a song that meant more than just music. A music Lyric that I really like would have to be Jasey Rae by All Time Low.
"I've never told a lie, and that makes me a liar.
I've never made a bet, but we gamble with desire.
I've never lit a match with intent to start a fire,
but recently the flames are getting out of control."

These lyrics are so true because all of this happens to use at least once in our life.

Mr. Kay,

To think of "Beasts of England" as poetry, I see the imagery of all the farm animals together in a circle, swaying side-to-side as they are all singing (like as if they were at a bar, all drunk). The message the animals are trying to get through is that these "Beasts of England" are the humans and that just because they are humans doesn't mean they can be boss of them. Its like the animals are protesting, but in the form of a song. I think that the animals start to memorize it on the spot because one, they believe it, and two, they are singing it because Old Major was, and I think it was his last wish (that the animals would get rid of the humans). I appeals the needs and emotions of all the animals that have been treated so before, and all of the new borns that got sold at the age of one. Also for all the animals that have worked so hard, and for what they produced, to just go right to the humans. Yes actually, there is one song where the words reach out to me, almost like it was written for me, it says all the things that im feeling. The song that reaches out to me is called "In His Touch" by Celine Deon. It all started when this one guy I used to like asked me out, he was so sweet and nice to me, until the Monday we got back to school. I found out about the rumor that was going on about me, and found out that he said it, and actually ment it, I was just so mad that my parents kept telling me that I couldn't beat him up, and that it wasn't right, even though he crushed all that I had in me! The next day I kept myself away from him, and the worst part was that one of my friends warned me that he said something, but they couldn't tell me what. I found out that that whole time he was planning this, and know I can't even stand to be within a couple feet of him. I went home that day, went in my room, turned on that song, and then I just broke down. That song helps me to get over the past.

The images that are clearly present is the animals are free. They aren't forced into labor or short lived lives. The animals like it because they want to be free instead of work horses. It appeals to not getting anything out of hard work. Since they can unify and choose the work evenly. The only song that I have heard recently that reached out is "why don't you get a job?" by The Offspring. I think it reached out because i'm sick of hearing people complain about working at McDonald's. When I have worked at something a little more challenging that asking if someone wants fries or super size their order.

When Old major began to sing the song, Beasts of England, it really spoke to the other animals. It spoke of something they wanted but felt they could never had. It is about the day animals will rule over people, and the farm animals took it to heart, this is why so many of them began to memorize it. They wanted to keep a piece of the belief that one day man would be overthrown. The song speaks about that glorious day, that sun will shine, the water will be pure and the will be a perfect breeze. The animals may all be different, but for the most part, they want the same thing, freedom. It triggers their emotions of this want and the hopefulness that it will come true. There is always a song that meant something to me through the lyrics. However, with my different experiences and emotions the songs have changed, so there has never been a song that has spoken to me my whole life.

In the poem/song "Beasts of England" it sends a strong message to all of the animals on the farm. The message it sends is to stand up for what is right. In this case, the animals think humans (Mr. Jones) are unjust and they want to change it, and take a stand against humans. The animals like the song so much, because they feel it stands for something, or is a symbol to what they are going through. It is their symbol to start rebelling and taking charge. The emotions i feel when i read it, is to belive, and the emotion of courage. One song that i have heard recently that lyrics really spoke to me is "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. In the song she says, "The struggles im facing, the chances im taking, sometimes might knock me down, but im not breaking." These lyrics kind of define my life right now. But it shows that im not going to let that interfere with my life, and that it isnt going to bring me down, or to rise above.

This poem or song can be looked at in many ways. First i think it has parts in it that are saying they will rebel against humans and take the farm over. In this case it would be Mr. Jones they want to take over. Also, you it is saying animals are or should be the best and that humans are ruining their lives. Or at least where the animals and humans are equal and help eachother out. They like it so much because they know it true and want to stand up to humans. It appeals to the scared emotion kind of because before this no one was really talking about rebelling against humans and i think its because they are scared. No song has really jumped out and attached to me probably because none of them really have a point to them.

The song "Beasts of England" summarizes all of the animals feelings into one. It also explains how one day man will be overthrown and the animals will rule the land. " Tyrant man shall be o'erthrow and the fields of England shall be trod by beasts alone." This shows that the song is explaining what the future holds for the animals. The animals immediately memorize the song because they like the content. It represents their goal to one day overthrow man. And possibly just because its a catchy tune. The emotional part that stands out is how the animals feel before and after they hear the song. The song states that they will no longer starve and be worked and they enjoy that. One song that inspires me is 'Sound of Madness' by Shinedown. the phrase " when you gonna wake up and fight..for yourself" inspires me to take a stand for what I believe.

The song "Beasts of England" I can see that its about how the animals want to be free. They don't want the man to disturb them. An example of this is when they sing " Tyrant man shall be o'thrown, And the fruitful fields of England Shall be trod by beasts alone." The animals like this song because it has to do with everything they want. It helps them keep faith that one day they wont be ruled by man. This song shows the emotion of hopefulness and a little happiness in the animals. They are hopeful that one day they wont be ruled by man and to think that makes them happy. A song that has jumped out to me before is " If today was your last day" by Nickelback. The song is about if you were to die tomorrow would you do everything you could just to be happy. Its basically all about living your life to the fullest and not having any regrets.

When the animals sing Beast Of England I think the message is very clear. They are talking about how sooner or later man shall be over thrown. That all animals will rule the world and man will not exist. They like this song and memorize it because it is something that is very important to them. They realize the message of the story and realize how joyful it is to him. A song that I really like that speaks to me is sweet talk by the killers. I really like it because I really feel like they can send a message in a song with out ruining the sound of the music.

The imagery present is that some day they will be alone and they must all team up. The message is straight foward they want england to be their own and want to overthrow the humans. The message is repeated over and over and is very clear. The animals love it beacause it gives them hope and is a cheerful song. Another reason they memorize the song is that easy song that repeats alot. The song appeals to their emotions like happyness and feeling of unity. It tells about how they want to be free and away from man and gives everyone to look forward to. The only song the that reachs out to me is "A lifetime" it explines alot about life, and how you never know when your life may end. Its a good song and it always has me looking at my life and if im making good decsions.

They are sick of being treated poorly and have had enough. I think the song makes the animals emotionally stronger because the words kind of speak to them. The song is based right off their life. A song that inspires me is "You had a bad day" because everybody has bad days. You just gotta put up with it.

In the song beasts of England it gives us this image of some perfect place. It shows us all about their dream situation. I think this songs message is that man is gone and now everything is so much better. The animals feel the need to memorize this so quickly because they are amazed and inspired by it. They are so excited about their plan that they thing it will be like what is described in the story. This songs appeals to their emotions because it hits a soft spot. It is something that they are all dreaming of and are trying to achieve. There is one other song that i listen to the words just because its inspiring. This song, someday by flipsyde. When I heard the song, and when I read it, the first image that came to me was a full uprising from animals. The message is that animals should unite and overthrow man. And that the animals will no longer have to work the way they do. Or at least in the way that Old Major sees it. I think the animals like it so much because the idea of not having to do all the work that they do would be awesome. And the idea of being killed by Jones is terrifying to them. The song meets basically all of the animals needs: as much food as they want, to not have to work, to lead their own lives, and so much more. I've heard many songs that reached out to me through the lyrics but only one stands out above all. I would have to say that Vulnerable by Secondhand Serenade really reached out to me. I say this because it reminds me of myself and how I've been feeling lately.

They memorize this so they can build up there confidence and finaly take over the farm. It brings hope that one day they will win and live free. I've heard a lot of songs that reach out and touch with words. The most recent song I can think of is "Shuttin' Detroit Down" by John Rich. He uses direct quotes to express his belief to people and what he thinks of the current situation were in. The song may not realy effect me as much as others that realy suffer it, but I totaly get the meaning and I think its important.

The imagery of Beasts of England is talking about how England is going to be there and it kind of describes in and like all the country and everything. The message is that man is evil and some day the animals will start a rebellion and be in control. The animals like it so much that they memorize it because they can identify with it. They are going through the same situation and it gives them hope and something to look forward to. It appeals to their emotions and need for freedom and justice. I have tons of songs that reach out to me with their lyrics. I find that so many songs can exactly identify with my life and it helps me get through things. Songs that stick out in my mind are Tim McGraw, Change, and Invisible by Taylor Swift, More than a Memory, Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Calliet. In the poem it says that they may not be alive for it but they need to start working to freedom now. And ofcourse the animals memorize it on spot. This poem is hope for their freedom and the incentive to work hard each day to reach that goal. This poem needs to appeal to the emotion of freedom and hope. The song "Beasts of England" has a strong message for the animals, which is exactly what Major wanted the animals to see. It presents imagery such as, "Hearken well and spread my tidins of the golden future time." This appeals to the animals because it makes their future seem promising and grand. It also says "Bright will shine the fields of England, purer shall its waters be, sweeter yet shall blow its breezes on the day that sets us free." This makes it seem like all of England will be a better place, cleaner and more peaceful. The song is saying that sooner or later the day will come when animals will rebel against the humans. It says that when they finally win, their lives will be so much better. The animals like it so much that they memeorize it on the spot because it makes them feel hope. They feel like they will finally have enough food, no evil ruler, and they will finally be happy in this amazing new life. I don't specifically remember what songs have meant more than to just words and a tune. I know that depending on the day I'm having or the mood I'm in, different songs will reach out to me. Some comfort me, some make me feel empowered to do something, and others remind me of a time or make me think of something that could happen in the future.

'Beasts of England' presents me with the visual of a rebellion; for that was it's purpose. I believe the message was to free themselves from their slavery and what they will have after conquering man.

I believe they liked it because it was emotionally touching to them, and they probably wanted to feel important that they COULD memorize the entire song. :)

I believe it appeals to the excited, fighting emotion. The feeling that makes us feel the need to jump up and do something crazy. I would think it would make one 'giddy'.

There is one song that meant a lot to me. "I'm Not Here" by the Goo Goo Dolls. It reminds me of how I feel when surrounded by people who don't 'see me'.

~~
I am a question to the world
Not an answer to be heard
Or a moment
That's held in your arms

And what do you think you'd ever say?
I won't listen anyway
You don't know me
And I'll never be what you want me to be

And what do you think you'd understand?
I'm a boy, no, I'm a man
You can't take me
And throw me away

And how can you learn what's never shown?
Yeah, you stand here on your own
They don't know me
Cause I'm not here

Chorus:
And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on and feel I belong
And how can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They don't know me
Cause I'm not here

And you see the things they never see
All you wanted I could be
Now you know me
And I'm not afraid

And I want to tell you who I am
Can you help me be a man?
They can't break me
As long as I know who I am

Chorus

They can't tell me who to be
Cause I'm not what they see
Yeah, the world is still sleepin while I keep on dreaming for me
And their words are just whispers and lies thatI'll never believe

Chorus

I'm the one now
Cause I'm still here
I'm the one
Cause I'm still here
I'm still here
I'm still here
I'm still here

I think that "beats of england" is a song that is a bit poetic. It is saying the uprise of animals and how animals should be free. this song means alot to the animals because they hope that this will someday be true for them. It is something to look up to and hope to one day accoplish. The emotions and needs it appeals is the right to be free. The song describes how the animals should have freedom and live on thier own. The animals have a big desire to be free so this song means alot to them. I have head a song that meant more than a song. This is the national anthem. This song means alot ot me as an american. When I hear it I think of the poeple who have fought for our county and the importance of being free. The national anthem is a bit like beats of engalnd becauce they both represent freedom.

It presents the image that the human race will be over thrown and the tools that we use will never be used again. The land would be for the animals. They could do what they want. The animals like the song because it gives them hope. It tells them of a better life. The emotion would be relief from oppression. It appeals to the belongingness need. They all will bond together to work for their freedom. The song that reached out to me was Living on a Prayer because it speaks of just keep going on with what you have and you will make it through the tough times.

I picture a large crowd with pride and freedom on their minds. The message being sent is that we dont need someone to tell us how to live, were capable to do it ourselves. The animals memorize it because the song represents what their fighting for. Its something that brings the animals together. The emotion is that animals can take care of themselevs and that man is someone who needs to be brought down. The need to take out the problem which would be man. If this happens, the animals can be free and live better lives. A song that means something to me is some dave matthews. His song, crash, has an unusual way of putting words but they make sense when you think aobut them. Crash is a song ive grew up too, my sister and mother always have played it and ive just come accustomed to it.

The imagery present is that they can picture everything that is happening in the song. The message, I believe, is that they will rise up and it will soon be their turn. They will be independent and won't be controled by man. I think that they like the idea of the song so much that they memorize it on the spot. The song is like inspiration or hope. It's like the song makes them believe. It appeals to the emotions and needs of hope and confidence. They are feeling used and now with the song they feel like they can do something about it. I've had a ton of songs that I have felt connections with over the years. They all depend on the way I'm feeling at the time I hear the song. I was kind of down lately so when I heard "If today was your last day", by Nickelback it reminded me to try to make the most of what I have. Also, not to dwell on the little things that won't matter ten years from now.

The Beasts of Emglend song is very important to the animals in many ways. The feeling they get when hearing it, is that one day hopefully there will at last be freedom for animals. That is also the reason why it sinks in so good and memorize it. Just the catchy beat and the words paint a picture for the animals and they imagine freedom with the lyrics. When i think of it, i also have songs that inspire myself. The one inwhich i love is the song It's America. This country talks about the freedom and love of america. It desribes the beautiful scene of america and how amazing the USA really is.

After reading this poem, it made me think of going against the humans, and standing up for themselves. This song reaches out to them, and inspires them for the greater good. the emotions that are in this song are is uplifting, they will stand for being used my the humans any longer. They do so much for them, and get nothing in return. Also, occasionally, they do not even get fed all day. A song that inspired me was "Don't Stop Believing" by journey. This is my absolute favorite song. This song gives me hope, when I'm angry, frustrated, and most of all stressed. The words "Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world", really hit home plate for me. Sometimes you can feel so alone, when your surrounded by a crowd of people. Then the title of the song, "Don't stop believing" made me feel that as long as I believe, I could achieve anything I wanted to in my life.

Examine the song "Beasts of England" as poetry. What imagery is present? What is the message? Why do the animals like it so much that they memorize it on the spot? To what emotions and needs does it appeal? Have you ever heard a song that meant something to you more than just the music; where the words reach out? What song and why?

Mr. Kay,

When i read the song, I see many examples of imagery. They are talking about how good they make the humans lives. On the other hand they are talking about how they do not get repaid for the work that they do. I think that they memorize it because it is kind of their "bible" that they live by. They respect this song and it represents what they are fighting for. Yes, I have heard songs that reach out to me. One song is I Can Only Imagine, by Mercyme. Its a great song that makes me really think about my lfe and how I am living it.

Beasts of England is about the day that the beasts will rule men. The animals like it so much because they all want to be free someday. All the animals can imagine how much freedom they would have if the men were gone. This appeals to the dream of doing whatever they want and not being worked and starved to death. The emotion is also happyness. the animals feel happy when they are singing this song because they just want to do what they want. There is only one song that really means a lot to me. It's "The Way I Am" by Eminem. The song is about not careing about what others think and just being who you are.

thae imagery presented shows that, in my opinion, they feel that all animals are treated unfairly throughout the world. they like it so much, because it is something that applies to them deeply. like how people are patriotic. it appeals to the emotions of the joy that they can sing in something they like, and have something to rejoice upon.

now, my own song, currently at the moment, which is big to me, is Baba O' Riley by The Who. and, doing this many times before about many different songs, it means a lot to me. The crescendo and build-up of the music in the beginnings, gets you ready for the great musical, and philosophical awesomeness that is to ensue.

"Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven"

means to me that you put your effort into everything you have, and that I don't need to get in arguments about my life, cause i know that i am right, and whatever i have done, is right.

"Don't cry
Don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland"

don't be so angry about the world. don't question it. it’s a wasteland of those who haven't yet seen the world, so they are stuck up.

"Sally, take my hand
Travel south cross land
Put out the fire
And don't look past my shoulder
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together
Before we get much older"

this is the best verse in my opinion, because it gets me thinking that, 2 people, a guy and a girl, are trekking across to something better than what they had; because what they had, was not as good as it could have been. and that they can not look back on the things they have done, and the trail behind them, because to let go odf something, you must let go of everything. because "until we have lost everything, are we then free to do anything".

when you leave, you must give up everything about your past, and all connections.

now, when they say the exodus is here, it means that so many have departed from the land where everything could have been so much better, and that you find new friends in your adventures. and to stick with the ones you love, for as long as possible, because you never know when the almighty hand of god might smite thee.

"Teenage wasteland
It's only teenage wasteland
Teenage wasteland
Oh, yeah
Teenage wasteland
They're all wasted!"

there is no going back, and even thought they are in need of help, you have left permanently, to never go back to where the world never could have been a better place.

then, we have a big point, where you can hear the song, and you know when the peak will hit. and then, when the peak, and in the last second, it is so omnipotent, that one feels releaved to hear it, because you wait for it. and then you question wether they chose to stay, or wether the life they now lead, is so much better.

and epic song. i love it, and i can't get enough of it.

another song, Love Reign O'er Me; quite simply puts the fact that, love is always, and forever. even when those you love, are gone. because you see them in the faces of others. and then you remember them, instantaneously; you feel so sad, because you can not be with your loved one, because they are gone. but you get stronger every time you cry, and you heal yourself every time you cry. you get better, but you will always know, that they will being tars to your eyes.

it always good to remember, that love is eternal, and that every time you cry till you can't cry any more, you are healing yourself, and getting it out. even though you probably will never get it all out, its good to take time and remember, to look back.

"Oh God, I need a drink of cool cool rain "

It presents an image likely to a marching army. The message is to fight for the day they get freedom even they're going to have to sacrifice everything. Maybe the animals liked to memorize the song on the spot because the message that song had was pretty touch and impressive to them, or even they just wanted to show off their memory. This song is appealing to emotions that are furious for the humans and needs of freedom and liberty. There's one Korean rap song, which is written in English, that I like. The song is basically about noncomformity. The best part of the song's lyrics is "Do we learn history to fix stories for the guilty, make angels look filthy and devils look milky. If the victory writes the books then what have we won? Are we battleships for authorship, a rich man's gun?"
It made much of sense since the history book is always written by the winner, which has a possibility of to be written in the way that whatever the winner wants.

I think that they like to song because it makes them feel impowered. They are singing about animals renighting and living free. Not only animals want to be free but humans also. Every thing wants to be free. I have heard a song that means something to me. It is Beautiful by Charistina Aguleria. It means that no matter what people say you are beautiful on the in side and out side. No body can tell you different. You should not let anyone tell you diffenent.
