Day 18

A year before his death at the age of 59,Hawthorne (author) wrote, "Everything is beautiful in youth- all things are allowed it." Pick 2 out of the 5 characters in Dr. Heidegger's Experiment and tell how they would react to this quote. What is your opinion of this quote?

Beauty is one characteristic of the experiment. In the quote everything is beautiful in youth, beauty is being youth. Another charcteristic of the experiment is anger. Anger is not apreciating the beauty of the youth and all ways trying to win it. This quote means to do what you want when your young. As you grow old you become less able to do the things you want. You also become less enthusiastic to do the things you want. Therefore youth is beauty because beauty is the ablitlity to do what you want.

I haven't been there to learn about Dr. Heidegger but I will repond on what I think about the quote. Pretty much when you are a youth it is a beautiful thing. I think this quote is very true. When you are young you have the ability to do pretty much anything. When you grow old you really can't do as much as when you were young. In my opinion youth is also beauty because you get to watch it grow. When your old you really can't grow anymore. That is what I think about this quote.

One character in the story is Dr. Heidegger. In the story he plays as an old man who wants to bring in his friends to experiment this water from the "fountain of youth" to see the effects of it on others before trying it out himself. I think he would agree with this quote to a certain point. He would agree that everything seems beautiful at first, but once they all became younger, they went a little crazy and were obnoxious. They lost all their life experience that would've helped them to live their new life better. Dr. Heidegger is the only one who could see this because he observed them. Another character is Mr. Medbourne. He was a man who was a rich man but lost most his money gambling, but he claimed he lost it in a stock investement. He would belive this wuote to be true because the second he became young again he thought everything was beautiful and life couldn't get any better. Unfortunetly he probly would've made the same mistake because he got caught up in being young again. I think this quote is just plainly saying that our youth is beautiful and we shouldn't screw it up and we should take advantage of the moment, because before we know it, it's gone.

Youth is a beautiful time of life. Dr.Heidegger shows that this quote is only true to a certain level. When the people go back to their early years everything gets the better of them and they become taken in by immaturity. Saying youth is beauty can be true but when immaturity gets the best of you it is not so much beautiful anymore. Mr.Medbourne goes back and beauty consumes him. For which I think he would completely agree with this quote. In his older life that he doesnt take care of so well shows his immaturity. When he goes back he shows more maturity. However, this is opposite for the other characters who become immature in their youth.

The quote "Everything is beautiful in youth all things are allowed it" relates to Dr Heideggers Experiment. One way is that the quote is saying that if something is in its youth, it is beautiful. And in Dr Heideggers experiment the charactors wish to go back to their youth again. I think the charactors of the story would respond positively to this quote. Probably saying that it is true and that they would very much wish to be in their youth again. My opinion of this quote is simple I guess. I would say that this quote is true to an extent because the younger you are, the more you strive for and the more dreams you have in life. But if I had the opportunity to going back to my youth later in my life, I'd probably say no. Mainly because of the things that I would lose.

Well Dr. Heidigger is one of the people in the story. He thought of it as even though the fountain of youth will get you younger it will not bring all the experience with it. he didnt like that idea and that is why he chose to stay older. One of his friends would have would have said the same thing because when you are younger you are blinded by beauty. I think that this quote is also very true and have the same opinion as Dr. Heidegger. This is what i think about this quote.
