The current event article I picked is called "Obama considering 4 options for Afghanistan, sources say." There are still three options he is trying to decide on but one confirmed option calls for sending 34,000 troops to Afghanistan. He has not fully decided on how many troops he will send though. I think this affects the community because I know many people don't want that many troops being sent over there. This afects me and I'm sure many other people because I think it is pointless. I know someone in the army and I want them to come home instead of fighting longer. Many people have lost their lives because of this war and I think it should just end. Whats the point of sending more troops over there? We've been fighting long enough.

In Connecticut, a woman was brutally attacked by a 200 pound chimpanzee on February 26, 2009. The chimpanzee ripped off her hands, nose, lips and eyelids. The animal was shot and killed. She said she doesn't ask many questions about her injuries. "It's like less for me to worry about if I don't know," she said. This connects to my life because it could happen to anyone that I know. Her daughter is a high school senior and Nash said she's sorry they can't spend more time together. She said she would like to have helped her daughter pick out a prom dress. it is sad that she has to miss alot of things that she used to do. See this story on Oprah on Wednesday 11/11/09 at 4:00 PM on Fox(channel 7).

for thisd current event i have chosen president obama cash for appliances. The program will provide government rebate incentives for purchases of new energy efficient home appliances like refrigerators, dishwashers, and water heaters. this is somewhat a good thing it is a good thing because people should switch over to energy effcient items. this is also a bad thing because if your appliances work fine you shouldn't turn them in for new ones. Hopefully, the appliance industry will get a boost like the auto industry experienced with Cash for Clunkers. i hope that this go a bit better then cash for clunkers i think that it is importian that we get america back on its feet. that is what i think about president obamas cash for appliances goses.

At a school in Massachusettes, kids have been saying the word "meep" and are getting in trouble for it. "Meep can mean whatever you want it to mean" says urbandictionary.com. I think that this is stupid that kids are getting in trouble for this. If a teacher asks what does the word mean, it's not that they're being stupid by saying whatever you want it to mean, it's the truth. Afterall, the word did come from the Muppets, so it obviously is not a bad word. I do not know why students would get in trouble for it, some students are even getting suspended for saying it. This connects to my community because this could happen at our school. I would hope that our school would not take it this far though. Overall, this is pointless that kids are getting in trouble for saying "meep".

President Obama says its never too late to thank all the veterans. This current event is about veterans day. I think that what Obama is doing is very nice and influential. This is very much related to me and everyone around me because today is veterans day and everyone should be respectful to the people fighting for our country. When people see Obama doing this, they may gain a little more respect for the troops. It is pretty cool that there is an article showing our president thanking veterans that may be alive and recovered, alive and serving, or even the ones who have past on. For what veterans do for us, the least we could do for them is honor them. It is nice that we have a whole day in honor of them. And the fact that our president has an article about it is good, people see it and they want to do it too.

"SEOUL, Nov. 10 (Yonhap) -- A North Korean naval boat returned home "wrapped in flames" after a brief but fierce skirmish in South Korean waters off the west coast on Tuesday"
on Nov 10 a north Korean warship past the southern line on a routine patrol. minutes after, south Korean ships opened fire on the north Koreans. the skirmish lasted 2 minutes leaving the northern ship "wrapped in flames" still afloat. now south Korea has to apologize to the north for the firing. this could effect the country by the north and south having a war witch would require us to send more troops over. this could effect my community because more war means more taxes which my generation has to pay for. this could be the end of the treaty that has held back these country's from engaging in battle which this time would result in annex.

The current event I am writing about today is about GM. Back a few months ago GM borrowed a lot of money from the goverment. GM received more than $5o billion in taxpayer bailouts. The company is majority-owned by the U.S. GM is now committed to repaying its billions of dollars in government loans. I can think of two ways that this will effect the community. The first is taxes. If the money is repaid, taxes could go down. The second is more people would buy cars because they know that GM is doing good, or better than they were.

I got my info:

Mental health issues affected veterans all over the U.S. on veterans day. The remembrance of the war they lived through still lingers in their memory. The rates of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and the mental issues that follow them are going through the roof. Although, today, veterans are giving the respect they deserve unlike past wars like Vietnam. I chose this current event because I feel it is important that we remember the veterans that served our country. Even our school just had a veterans day to honor those that served and I think everyone should be grateful. We should celebrate the returning heros and cherish the ones that were lost. Be grateful for those who fought for your freedom today.

The doors of a brand new gaming world opened up yesterday as the hit game, "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2", came out. The doors opened to sell the game at 12:01 Tuesday morning. At the end of the day, over 15 million copies of the game have been sold, and there are still plenty of fans out there wanting their chance to grab this game. I am a part of these fans. I personally experienced this game today when i went over to a friends house. I think this game will change the gaming industry forever. The graphics on this game are incredible. I have never seen such clear quality on a video game in my life. There are a ton of new maps, making it easier to compete, if you aren't very good. There are, also, a lot of more achievements for the incentive to play more. Overall, I would give Modern Warfare 2 a 10/10. This affects the community because many of the kids of society today love to play video games. They will be spending more time inside on their xboxs/ps3/computers with this game.

Two bloggers who staged an interview with a donkey were sent to prison in Azerbaijan Wednesday following a two-month trial for assault the father of one told CNN. Adnan Hadjizadeh 26 and Emin Mill 30 were accused of hooliganism after an altercation in a cafe in July. Hadjizadeh was imprisoned for two years and Milli was sentenced to two and a half. Emin Milli and Adnan Hadjizadeh were physically attacked apparently unprovoked in a Baku restaurant. Milli and Hadjizadeh were later charged with hooliganism under Article 221 of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code and detained. I picked this because it was about blogging and I found it kind of funny. They interviewd a donky =p. Also were blogging what better topic to pick then one about blogging?

The swine flu is dangerous and still out to get anyone and everyone. Over 4,000 Americans have already died from this terrible illness. People underestimate the damage that this flu can do. The right precautions need to be taken by everyone as soon as possible. Death is a possibility to anyone who contracts this illness, and you may even die from complications caused by the swine flu. The CDC says "many millions" of Americans have caught the pandemic flu virus since it first appeared in April. Some cases are less harmful then others, but overall, keep yourself clean and get your vaccine asap.

This article is talking about how lack of health care killed over 2 thousand of our veterans. Also most of the veterans that died were under 65 years old. It says that the death toll is more then 14times greater then the deaths in afganistan in that same year. The artical goes on talking about the lack of health care to our veterans and has several quotes from people. There is an esitmate of 2,300 to 2266 veterans who die each year to the lack of healf care. Thats pretty much all the artical says.

Cell Phone are used around the world for many different thing but can harm us more than we think. It is proved that cell phones can cause cancer. The electromagnetic radiation sent off of the phone can cause cancer. With how many teens use cell phones it is a scary thing to look at. There needs to be a warning out because of how much our society uses cell phone.People need to know about thins and take action. This was all studied for over 10 years. This can be the source of a lot of cancer if something isnt done.

-INTERNET WAS DOWN THIS DAY-

The article i chose is called "Apple banks on Retail Stores". Apple has been trying to increase their overall sales within the past year. They have been doing new things and improving things like users being able to talk one on one with an apple representitive. They also have a good system for letting customers try out products before using them. Within the last year Apples sales have increased more than ever. I think this is good that apple is improving their sales not by scamming but actually getting to know customer feelings. Many people buy products and are not satisfied with them but apple lets their customers try out their products before buying them. With this happening we all go home satisfied and dont have to take our time to return a lousy product. This is really good for the society because it saves us time and lets you get your moneys worth of the product you are buying. If other companies started doing this too it would really help out society.
