One of the things we discussed was the idea that just because you follow transcendentalism, or individualism, does not mean that you are a selfish person nor does it mean that you are not out to be a part of society. It just means that you do things on the terms that are acceptable to you. Based on this idea, respond to the following:
What does stand and be counted mean to you? You may use a personal experience to explain.

To me, stand and be counted means that if you don't voice your own opinion on something that you believe in, then your voice on the subject won't be heard. People who don't voice their opinions then they aren't counted. An example would be during a Presidential Election. If you don't vote for the president then you aren't going toward your views. If you are at a campaign and you don't answer the the questions truthfully then many people won't like you. There are many more examples but I can't think of any more.

Hard blog here, im just gunna wing this and hope its right. To me stand and being counted is kind of stating your opinion on where you stand on a subject. It's more then that tho. Its about standing up for what you believe in and you intern become and individual for doing so. Or your just a non conformist that everyone disagrees with. Personaly i like stating my opinion because you can't be worng. I hate being wrong i don't know why i just do.
I'm really not sure how to respond to this. I guess I think that to stand up and be counted means to stick up for what you believe in and dont stick up for what otheres believe in. Im not really sure how to descirbe the be counted part. But I do think that sticking up for what you believe in and not what other people believe in is very important. Mainly because if you dont stickup for what you believe in, you're not unique, and if you stick up for what others think for your not being yourself. If your not yourself its just like from the homework last night with the quote "...imitation is suicide." or something like that. IF you arent being yourself, you cannot stick up for things you believe in, and if you cannot stick up for things you believe in well your just part of the crowd and you dont stick out. When you should always stick up for what you believe in and stick out from the crowd, even when your alone.
Stand and be counted for me means voicing you're opinion. If you say what's on your mind, you will be heard even though you may not be listened to. This kind of situation happens to me all the time. For example, the other day we took a vote on what color volleyball jerseys we should wear for our game. I voted for blue, and even though the majority voted white, atleast I voted. I wasn't necessarily mad because I did all that I could do. This is also like any political election. My parents taught me to always vote because if you don't, then you don't have the right to complain. You should always take a stand because somehow you will make a difference.
Stand up and be counted to me means to be yourself. It means to be counted as an individual and not as a group. For example it could be being recognized for your grades at school. There are alot of kids going to a school but if your getting a 4.0 and everyone else isn't, then your going to get a scholorship for your grades. Your being recognized for doing better then everyone else. Another example could also be as simple as everyone voting to go see a certain movie, and you being the only one who votes to see one no one else voted for. It just has to be something that stands out and is different from the crowd.

To stand and be counted. It is a statement that can confuse a young person beyond belief. If you think deeply about this, then it really is important in a persons life. If you don't stand up for yourself and let everyone know what you think and what your opinions are, then people won't really know you exist. In return, people won't really remember you as a person to look up to or even a person at all. If you do stand up and voice your opinion, then you may be that face a person can recognize and idolize. To blend in isn't hard, to stand out is a challenge. Just being yourself can seem like a challenging task, but all of us are perfectly capable. Never be afraid of yourself.
Wow. This is the first blog that I have really thought about, so... Go me! This is a confusing question. To stand and be counted...? To me it kinda seems like if you stay with the crowd, no one will ever notice you. And even thought you might not think so, your opinion matters, and it can make you an individual. An example would be making a group dicision of anykind where you have to choose between two things. If you see that everyone is voting for one thing and you want the other, Vote for the one you want. Don't vote for the one you dislike just because everyone else is. This was the hardest blog yet. Thanks! :P

To stand and be counted, to me is to voice your opinion. Let it be heard what you have to say. Don't let anyone influence you, but you. What you feel is right and you feel is important should be heard. Don't let anyone walk over you. And if they don't listen to you, make them. Your views mean something and you should not conform into what every one wants you to believe or think. Do something for yourself and maybe even the world, and speak up for what you believe in.
Stand and be counted basically means one thing to me. It pretty much means that you should join in and become part of society. You may be a transendentalst or an individualist but you can still become part of your community. You don't have to do all the things you don't want to but you can still stick up for what you believe in. There may be some things I don't want in my society so I go by what I do believe is right. In some ways I also think it means you should be yourself no matter what. In society if people don't like the way you are don't change. You can have your own beliefs on what you want. And no I don't think this makes you a bad person.
i think that to dtand is being alone. when i think of stand i think of indepndence and of indivuallism. when i here to be counted i think of being in groups. becasue if you are in a group you are enventually being counted as one whole. when you are in a group even though you are one whole you are still sperate. and example is america and electing a president. you all are in a group but in the end you vote is counted indivually. that is what i think about this.
To me stand and be counted means, to not be afraid to be yourself, and stand up for what you baleve is right. But im also not really Sher what this means, it was just what it sounds like. It also may mean to speak out what you baleve so people can hear what you have to say. If you speak out about something your going to be counted. An example of this is Marten Luther King jr. He spoke out on what he baleved. If he didn't, than today may have been very different. For that he was counted, and people new who he was. This eventually lead to his death, but he is now no buy most Americans, for what he baleved in, and did to try to acheave it.
Stand and be counted for means to be an individual. You should be yourself and be known as yourself. A personal experience is at school when there's a sub. If a lot of people are talking and you don't then your an individual. Not only are you being an individual but your also being a good student. Being a good student is another way to stand up and be counted for. It is a very good thing to stand up and be counted for.
I thought of this quote as being standing out for what you believe in. If you just go along with the the crowd then you wont be noticed. When you are non-conformate you will stnad out and be counted. A personal experience of this is unless your just joking around with some friends, i don't like it when people pick on other kids. We were in the locker room one day and while everyone was picking on a kid I was one of the only ones to stand up and tell them to stop. People need tostand up for what they believe in and not just go along with the crowd. This is what i believe stand and be couted means.
Hard blog tonight, but to stand and be counted for means to be heard and defend what you believe in. To be an individual, you must do the same things. One example I could use would be to stand up for what you believe in. I highly believe in standing up for friends to help them out. So when one of my friends is getting made fun of, I'd stand up for them and protect them. It strengthens friendships and makes the other person feel like somebody's there for them when they need it. It's a win-win. Everybody defends what they believe in, its just in different ways sometimes.
