Day 20

How are there only 9 entries from yesterday? I guess that means many of you will be blogging tonight and not using it as your off day.

Since it is Tuesday, we shall be doing a current event. You know the drill so make sure you have the brief summary and the connection. Also remember, NO CITE, NO POINTS.

See you tomorrow!

I'm going to do my current event on the one game playoff that will occur tonight between the Detroit Tigers and the Minnesota Twins. Here goes.

Tonight the night for the big game. Detroits rick porcello will pitch against the Twins's Scott Baker. But what is the big picture around this game? Detroit is hoping the youngster can push them through to the playoffs. As we can remember, the 2006 Tigers made a run to the world series. This run brought the city together and helped boost everybodys spirits. This hasnt been done since last year when MSU made it to the Final Four. We need this win Tigers, to help bring the city of detroit together for one last push to help get the economy closer to normal and to help the greater community.
GO TIGERS!

my topic is about troops in afghan. American and Afghan troops swept through forested mountains in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday, killing 40 militant fighters. In a hunt for insurgents responsible for one of the deadliest attacks of the war on U.S. troops. Ten Afghan soldiers were also killed during the operations since Monday. obama adimastration is haveing problems to deal with the problem. they have to choice to escalate it by deploying as many as 40,000 additional troops or by forgetting about it. i think that we should avoid as much conflict as possible. that is what my current event is about.

"So far, one suspect, Colorado shuttle bus driver Najibullah Zazi, has been charged with conspiring to detonate bombs in the United States. Zazi, who has denied any terrorist plotting, is being held without bond"
this week i will talk about a suspected terrorist attack that leaves two in jail. `Najibullah Zazi a local bus has been suspected of planning terrorist threats worse then 9/11 by setting off bombs in the U.S. they have also arrested his father for the same charge. this effects my community by if this were to actually happen it could put unemployment to and all time low and could wipe out thousands of people. this effects me because if the bombs were to go off then i could loose loved ones who i don't see to often. this i thinks violates some of Najibullah Zazi rights because what if he didn't have to do with anything and was thrown in jail for nothing. this was my current event that happened less then 1 hour ago.

Barret, Delvinn, ed. "NYC terror plot was worst since 9/11." NYC terror plot was worst since 9/11 (2009)

The top Senate Democrat says lawmakers of both parties assured President Barack Obama on Tuesday that they will rally behind whatever decision he makes on Afghanistan. In this article it says that both parties support what ever disicion Obama takes on the war. This relates to me because people in my family were in this war. He was in the original war, desert strom. It also relates because if everyone supports Obama then we have a supported nation. If everyone puts their mind to something then hey can do it. What ever Obama tells us to do and we support it then we can do it. If Obama gets good support from us then we might be able to get our economy back to how it used to be or better.

This Evening I'm going to do my current event about Tyler Perry. He revealed that he was abused as a child. From being hit by his father to being soaked in ammonia by his grandmother. Tyler revaled it after seeing "Precious" in theaters. "I know that there are a lot of people out there with stories far worse than mine but you, too, can make it. To those of you who have, welcome to life. I celebrate you," he said. "We're all PRECIOUS in His sight." I thought that what he said was very touching, because it could happen to anyone.

For my current event tonight, I will discuss part of thew issue of health care and how it relates to women. Women are currently getting the short end of the stick when it comes to health care coverage. For example, women who are pregnant can be legally denied coverage. Women tend to need more preventive care and therefore have more co-pays and deductibles. Also, women are most likely to be responsible for family's health care bills because they are often the single heads of households. This relates to my community because women in my community are struggling to even cover themselves with healthcare let alone their families. They can't get the coverage they need and are suffering for it. Obama is working to fix health care coverage but he neglects to notice that women of the U.S. need it more than others. Hopefully he will address the issue soon.

For my current event i will be writing about the swine flu vaccinations. They have just introduced the swine flu vaccinations to the United States today. Earlier in the year everyone was having swine flu madness. There were people freaking out and staying out of the public eye just so they wouldnt catch it. Not to mention if someone did catch it then it was posted in the paper. For all this craziness that appeared over swine flu a couple months ago you would think many people would be running into the doctors office to get the vaccination. However, this didnt happen not many people cared that they had a vaccination thats why H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccination is having such a slow start. As of yesterday 2.2 million doses of swine flu vaccination were available to the country. Out of those not many were given and not many people cared. What poeple are starting to see is swine flu honestly isnt as bad as we thought. Its only a little worse than your regular flu. I think this effects our country because the states did so much to get all those vaccines to keep us healthy and nobody wants them. Whats going to happen to the vaccines if nobody gets them? Hopefully the water will start flowing and people will start to get them so the citizens of the U.S stay healthy.

THe article I picked is called "Gop urges quick decisions on Afghanistan." THis article is about republicans urging President Obama to make a decision on whether or not to send more troops to Afghanistan. He is faced with a request for thousands of troops from General Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan. There has been 865 Americans and 570 allied trooops that have died. I dont think we should send any more troops to Afghanistan. This just puts more people's lives in danger and its pointless. We have fought long enough and I think it should be over with. We should be bringing trooops home instead of sending them there. I hope President Obama makes a good decision on this one.

The current even i choose was about animal abuse and cruelty. They are trying to make a law that wants to stop the sale and marketing of videos showing dog fights and other acts of animal cruelty. I think that they should proceed this law because watching dog fights and abusing animals is just horrible. Who has the heart to do that? If they stop selling these types of things then maybe the percentage of animal abuse will decrease. This is related to the community because animal cruelty is happening all over the place and we don't even know it. So many animals get abused when they did nothing to deserve that. I just think that doing this is horrible and shouldn't even be an issue in the first place.

The current event I am going to write about is the amount of troops in Afghanistan. It is strongly recommneded that Obama sends in more troops. He has given no sign that he will do this even though it is necessary. The was is getting worse everyday. And the mission there is not getting better. Sending in more troops could help with the war. This relates to the community because, we are all part of the country.

The flag draped coffins of five U.S. soldiers killed during a weekend onslaught against a U.S. military outpost in Afghanistan arrived Tuesday at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. The bodies include Joshua Kirk of South Portland, Maine; Michael Scusa of Villas, New Jersey, Stephen Mace of Lovettsville, Virginia cChristopher Griffin of Kincheloe, Michigan, and Kevin Thomson of Reno, Nevada. On Saturday, Taliban militants attacked American and Afghan troops opening fire on the outpost from multiple locations with rockets, mortars and heavy caliber machine guns. 8 american troops and 2 Aghan national security officers were killed. Atleast 13 afghan officers also were captured in saturdays attack. I really don't see what people even go into the military. 80% of them will mostlikly end up getting killed. Thats just my opinion tho.

This week, my current event is about how Delphi recreated a new, smaller company after the old Delphi went bankrupt. General Motors has set aside $11 billion to help start the new Delphi. The company had a $603 million net loss in the quarter ending June 30, bringing its operating losses since 2005 to about $10 billion. Delphi also lost a lot of workers when they filed for bankruptcy. That compares to 37 U.S. factories and about 80,000 U.S. employees in 1999, when it was spun off by GM. When it filed for bankruptcy in October 2005, Delphi's U.S. employment was down to 50,000 workers. This relates to me and my community because Delphi is a Troy, Michigan based plant. Also, Delphi plans to employ 12,700 workers by the end of the year and four plants. This will truly help our economy and get Michigan back into the market.

My current event is about Obama sendin troops into war zone. HE has a lready sent out 21,000 and they dont think that is enough. They think they will need 68,000 troops total to get the right to war. With all of these troops gone it will affect a large number of families. A lot of people go through a lot of trouble when their family foes away for war. When they go away you will never know if they are coming back or not. Obama needs to find a better plan then killing a bunch of innocent people.

The one current event that really catches my attention is how president Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. As the brand new president, and he hasn't been in office for too long, it is a real honor for him to win this valuable prize already. His graciousness and humble attitude is what I think did it for him. Only very rarely has someone of the same extent won the hearts of millions as Obama has won ours. The nation should be thankful for Obama being in office, because as of now our country is heading in a direction for the better. The fact that he has only been in office for a few weeks shows how much confidence we have in him. With this award in Obama's hands, it will only give him more initiative to make our nation the best it can possibly become.
