Bikers everywhere are beginning to be ticketed for violations of traffic. No one knows why there is a sudden crack down but bikers who are running stop lights, red lights or going the wrong direction on a one-way street are being "pulled-over" and ticketed by enforcing police officers. In my opinion this is a good thing. Bikers have gotten out of hand, thinking they own the streets and can do as they please. They have ridden in the middle of the road when there's a perfectly good sidewalk 5 feet away. These careless acts alone cause accidents because cars are they ones that have to avoid them. I think this affects our community in a good way because it will reduce accidents on the road and therefore reduce injuries.

Recently, Granholm vetoed a bill for $52 million dollars. This $52 million dollars was supposed to go to school districts, even to ours. But now that Granholm vetoed this, me and my fellow classmates will suffer. With this cut of money, school districts can't afford things such as busses and school supplies. This effects my community because this just ends to the never ending horrible economy. The cuts were about $120 per kid, so it could have paid for a lot. Overall, I don't know what Granholm was thinking and now it's making us as kids suffer.

The article I chose is called " Behind the scenes in Obama's war council meeting." It talked about whether or not Obama should send 40,000 troops to Afghanistan. They are also asking if we do send more troops will we result in a successful Iraq style surge. This situation does have an affect on me because I don't believe troops should be sent over there. I think it is a waste of time and many people could loose their lives. There are unique challenges. In Afghanistan and I don't think that will help the troops very much. Iraq and Afghanistan aren't the same so who knows the fate of all the soldiers if they are sent there. I hope Obama makes the right decision.

Yesterday morning, Richard Heene reported to authorites that he believed his six-year-old son had climbed into a homemade experimental. the silver balloon was traveling at 50 mph. this is wrong because why didnt the parents should have been watiching him. when this aircraft was lowered and they didnt find a boy. this is wrong because why would the parents lie abou tloseing there child in the balloon.this also make them look like bad parents because they are sending the wrong message to there kid. that is what i think about all of this.
Police are now investigating whether the Heene balloon story was a hoax after comments Falcon Heene made on Wolf Blitzer last night. (abcnews.com)

Eight-year-old Bryan Lechuga was unimpressed when the nurse pushed the syringe up his nose to deliver one of South Florida's first doses of vaccine against H1N1 swine flu on Monday. Bryan didnt know what the swine flu was when everyone in his school were getting the vaccine. If everyone in our school were givin the vaccine there would have been more people at school today. Latly many people have been getting sick and think its the swine flu. The swine flu could be a deadly desease when a lot of people have it. At the rate in which everyone getting the flu everyone will be sick in about a month. We should all try to be more sanitary and try not to spread anything. Everyone should be safe at school and swine flu is destroying that rule. Swine flu is a bad thing to get so lets all try to be safe and healthy.

Since he first stepped foot into office, Barack Obama had many supporters. Just recently half the country has started to disagree with his views. Many say he hasn't done any of the things that he said he'd do. "48 percent of people questioned say that they agree with Obama on the issues that matter most to them, with 51 percent saying no. That's a switch from April, when 57 percent said they agreed with the president on important issues, with 41 percent disagreeing". I say he still has a little over three years to fulfill his duties.

The h1n1/Swine Flu is getting worse. Everyday the number of deaths in the world is increasing. And more confirmed cases are being reported. Most of the confirmed cases are from Mexico but that does not mean we can't get it. This is affecting our community in good and bad ways. A lot of people are doing things they didn't do before in order to stay healthy, so that's a plus. But, it can also be bad. A lot of people are getting the virus. And it can be deadly. No one wants that. The best thing you can do reduce your chances of getting this ickiness is... Don't lick door knobs, Wash your hands, and don't go to places where there have been a lot of confirmed cases.

MY Article: http://caffertyfile.blogs.cnn.com/2009/10/20/govt%E2%80%99s-latest-action-on-medical-marijuana-first-step-in-legalizing-pot/
This article is talking about medical marijuana. It is talking about how people think this kind of medical treatment should be aloud or not aloud. Also it says that Obama's administration is easing up on the use of medical marijuana. It says that 14 states have already aloud medical marijuana, especialy California with pot shops everywhere. Supporters of medical marijuana say it helps treat chronic pain, nausea and other illnesses. while people who opose it say this move is a step backward in the fight against Mexican drug cartels.Polls show that 54 percent opposed medical marijuana. The article says that younger people are more common to favor medical marijuana and that there is no suprise there. Thats pretty much everything thats stated in the article.

"An investigation into possible criminal charges for a Colorado couple who told authorities their son floated off in a balloon shaped like a flying saucer has spread to those who worked with them."
A young boy was found in his attic in a box, hiding from his father who was supposedly scaring the boy to tears. The father is now being interrogated into creating this whole fraud of his son floating off in a hot air balloon. This is an odd story and makes alot of people suspicious. Is there other families in the world who are hiding and living their lives behind closed doors? What is actually going on in most American households? This is so uncommon that it makes me wonder how this came to be. It makes me think that families can be hiding alot of what actually goes on in their lives. Did anyone suspect that this "Balloon Family" had problems? What can we do to help those families who are having trouble? It's these questions that come to mind from this current event.

Apple has come out with a new IMac, which move from aluminum polycarbon to aluminum and edge to edge glass. Personally i think it looks sweet. Apple also has a new wireless mouse and keyboard out. The keyboard now has an all aluminum body, but the new mouse, dubbed the Magic Mouse, is far more interesting. Has standard 2 button usage and you just move your finger down the middle to scroll. It's very similar to the IPhone along with 360 degree movement. New modles are ranging from about 1,199-2,000 at the moment. Sizes range from 21.5-27 inches.

This week on the currents events i will talk about Iran and its nuclear wants. today Iran sat down with the U.N and talk about its nuclear activity. Iran has been shipping out uranium so further enrich it which is needed to make a nuclear bomb. so the U.N is in alliance with the countries who support the U.N but aren't 100% friendly with the U.s and could strike at any chance. Iran says that they will not use the uranium for any nuclear bombs. they claim that they are using the uranium for other nuclear needs. that was my current event for the week.
Many young people are becoming more active in their communities. One of these men was the diving coach at Oxford High School. There's the big word, WAS. He has taken his relationship too far. He is accused and in jail for "sexting" 2 of the swimmers on the team. This will affect my community greatly because you never know who you can trust. It will also keep students and athletes from getting to know their coaches too much.

"Grandholm defends school budget veto". Govenor Jennifer Grandholm defends a very important decision saying that they are taking away a very big portion of the school's education budget. This is cutting a great amount of money from all largest school districts. This is not good for any school. This has a huge affect on me and my community, or my peers at school, in many ways. This is taking about $165 away from each student in the schools. There is currently a $60-Million hole in the education budget. This is not good for anything. This is going to put our education down the wrong road.
Small towns are sparking an entire health movement. These towns started changing town habits in washington d.c. Half of the towns population participated in this health change and by doing so added 3.1 years onto their lives. The actions that happened through out this town were simple things like truck stops putting in fruits and veggetables in place of fries, and companies adding healthy snacks and adding a quarter mile onto their production floors. I think this could effect our community because if we all started living healthier lives we could live longer lives. I think white lake should take part in a health movement like this to improve our community. Most of these tasks arent even hard to do and if we could all just make some healthier choices and restraunts helped out we could be healthier.

My current evetn today is about weed. Weed is now legal to people who need it for medical reasons, is this right? Many people debate whether or not this should be a leagal substance. According to the Foods and Drugs Administration(FDA), it should not be. This is because it is not proven to cure illness. It just takes your mind off of it for a short period of time. This connects to society becuase a lot of tax dollars are going into funds to helpresearch. With this research we will solve a well diputed argument. Weed is very infuential in America.
