Hope you got some reading done today. We will be discussing the book beginning tomorrow if we finish grammar and vocab or on Wednesday.
For this evening:
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
Mark Twain
What does this quote mean to you and then explain how it relates to what you have read about Chris thus far.

Hey I'm first response.. I guess there is a first for everything.
I cant realy think of a way that this quote relates to me. But I think this quote definentaly relates to Chris in Into the Wild. I think the last three words in the quote relate the most because thats all Chris is doing through his journy. All he's doing is exploring through parts of America, dicovering things and dreaming along the way throughout his journy. The fist sentance realates to Chris very well to, I think this because I think thats why he's doing what he's doing. He wants to do much more then the average person, he wants to explore, dream, and discover. So I think that this quote is very relative to how Chris is feeling.
This quote is trying to say do all the things you want to do today because you wont be able to do it later in your life. This quote doesnt relate to me at all because i havent even hit 16 yet. This quote has a significant relationship with Chris. Chris wants to do everything that he can so he doesnt want to be disappointed with himself when he gets older. So Chris did whatever he felt like doing. He traveled all over the world to do whatever he was in the mood to do. Hopefully, chris will experience even more, the story will keep getting better if so.
This quote may mean many different things to many different people. To me this quote is trying to say, live life to the fullest while you are young. Do crazy things and have no regrets. Don't just do the same thing everyone else is doing, go out and explore the world, and see what it has is store for you. You don't want to look back when you are older and be like, man i really wish i did this when i was young. This relates to everyone. It relates to me because i should live life like there's no tomorrow so when i look back, i have something to smile about, somthing im glad that i did do. This relates to Chris because he is going out into the world and exploring it for himself, literally. He left everything behind and went out into the wilderness. He wants to be able to look back on his life and say, man im really glad i got to experiance that, and he will appreciate it. This is what i think of the quote and how it relates to me, and Chris from "Into the Wild."
This quote, to me, is saying to live your life how you've always wanted to, but live with no regrets. I think this author was trying to say that when you are constricted and not free to try new things no matter what they be, you will grow up regretting what you didn't so and wanted to achieve them as an adult. Although, as an adult you will have lost the opportunity because you will have wanted to have started your life already. This quote relates to me, because I am that typical teenager who wants to explore my options and have fun before I have to grow up, but of course I am retrained by devious, old parents. It makes me want to rebel, increasing the desire to do as I please. This quote relates to Chris because Chris was in the same situation I was in and he decided to leave his parents with out notice and live his life they way he wanted to. If he could have chosen the lifestyle he wanted, he probably would have never died. People and especially parents have to understand that we will do whatever we want and it's their choice to decide if they want to know about it or not.
This quote to me means that you should do things and enjoy life wile you still can. If you always wanted to try skiing, but never learned you should just try it. when your 60 and you have back problems and cant ski, then your gana wish you had tryed it when you were younger. Or if you want to travel the world, do it before you get to old. Also when your older and board memories may be the only thing that make life worth living. So if you lived a boring uneventful life, then your gana regret what you didn't do in life. This has to do with Chris because he felt the same way i do. He wanted real experiences, not classrooms new cars and money.
this quote from ark twain can be interpreted in many different ways depending on who reads it. in my opinion i think that this means quote means get out there and do things instead of do what you do every day. when he says "sail away from the safe harbor" he means step outside you comfort box and try new things. also when he says "Explore.Dream.Discover" i think that he means that you should see what you have always wanted to see and do what you have only wanted to do. this quote shows that if you have a once in a life time chance then take it and don't miss out. and this quote overall means live life to the fullest and don't let little things keep you down. this is my opinion on mark twain's quote.
Personaly i can't realate to the quote. So it kinda means nothing to me. But Chris on the other hand really explores and discovers. not really much of dreaming tho. He kinda just drifts around for a while back and forth between like Montana and Arizona. Havn't really gotten to any dreams of his yet. Other then to explore and discover.
I think this quote means that you shouldnt miss out on things in your life time. You need to try new things and learn from your experiences. By the end of your life you will be regretting the things you missed out on more than the things you regreted doing at that time. This quote relates to Chris becasue he just left his fancy life and tried something new. I think Chris would have regreted not taking his adventure. Personally i like this quote because it is really inspiring to kids who are more shy and excuse themselves from out of school activites. It could really change someones life around if you think about it.
This quote is saying that you should take advantage of what you can do today. When you get older you won't be able to do some of the things you can when your younger. It's saying to strech outside the box and try to reach outside your goals while you can. This quote relates to Chris because the quote says "Explore. Dream. Discover." This is exactally what Chris is doing during his journey. He is looking for life experiences and likes to live on the edge. He finds living life more enjoyable when he takes risks and explores the world. Chris is an adventurer and this quote is just setting guildlines for his journey.
This is a really powerful quote that can realte to a lot of people. It only realates to me a little bit but it still does realate to me. The reason it only realates a little bit is because im so young. If I was 50 this would realate to me a lot because I might want to explore and find stuff that I couldn't later. This quote relates to Chris a lot. One reason is because the main reason he left was to explore the wild and live off of it. He is a very good example of this quote in progress due to him " sailing away from the safe harbor" and going into the wild.

I think that this quote is a way of describing Chris' way of life. He is a free spirit and want to learn to appreciate the big picture. He want to just purely live. I feel like I know what he is trying to do. These days in life people don't see the beauty in the small things and we just take everything for granted. Chris takes his adventures day by day, and sees the beauty in everything. As I read this book, I will take a look at life in a different light, for his sake. He did sacrifice alot to teach us this.
