Day 22

"The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind."
William James

What do you think of this? How does it relate to you? Any examples?

Mr.Kay,
To me this quote means that to change your life is as simple as changing the way you think about things. I think that it also means that when we tell ourselves we can do something we genrallly have more confidence and then will succeed. Or, i could think of it in a totally new way and say that this quote means we can control how we feel. For example, when someone is depressed they can take medication to help fix that. Or people with addictions can help themselves by going to rehab. I guess this quote relates to me. I mean we can all change the direction our lives are heading in. Only if we really choose to change them and take action, and help ourselves when we have a problem.

What i believe this means to me is only you can change yourself, and knowone else can tell you what to be. The only way you change is if you want to change. It takes time to adampt to change and most people don't enjoy to do so. I think this quote is a very accurate staement and speaks closely to everyone; even if they don't want to idmit it. Someones attitude is directly relatated to what they are thinking and feeling. For example, if you are pissed off and don't want to talkto someone, you noarlly have a discusted look on you face. When i see someone that looks like that i tend to stay out of their face, and give them time to cool off. I find myself doing this all the time. I wont realize that my tone twords my parents is disrespectful most of the time they are talking to me, which normally gets me in more trouble. I have been trying to work on this, but it is a very hard habbit to break.

Mr. Kay,
I think that the quote, "The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind" has something to do with perception. Not ones perception on another, but ones perception one everything else. For instance, if one changes how they view one things or act toward something, your perception will change on it and thus change your attitudes. It can relate to me because when I was in sixth grade, I wasn't like who I am today. I wasn't really happy, or hard working. I was pretty lame in those days. After a new group of friends, I started coming to realizations that I am in a happy place. I am not the kind of person that I am acting like. I started realizing that things were good, and I have nothing to mope about. I started perceiving things as if I was the most appreciative person ever. I also started recognizing beauty in things. Now through all these realizations, I am now a completely different person. I am happy, amazed by things that I used to not care about and I am just overall a new man. That is why I think the quote is about something about perception.

This woute means you can change situations, problems, or anything by the attitude and mindset you have. When you think positive and put effort into stuff, you generally succeed. If someone things negative they wont. The same with perceptions. IF you go judge by what you think you'll miss out on a lot. This could mean that we can control the outcome of fate by simply thinking positive. For example if you are aggrivated and just keep thinking about it, you'll be in a pissy mood all day and it could lead to more problems. If you decide to turn it around and try to be in a good mood, good things could happen to turn that day around.

To me this means that you can always change. If you don't like who you are then you can always turn yourself into someone that you will be proud of. Unfortunatly, this means that you could also change for the worse. For me it was a good thing, since when I was younger I was really sad and sick all the time. However, now I feel like I'm always happy and in a good mood. It also helps to know that I can end up being whoever I want. However, it can also go both ways. In first grade I became really good friends with this one girl who was the life of the party. She was always happy and could make anyone smile. When she moved everyone missed her. Then this year my friend found her myspace and she seemed extemely unhappy. She had wierd, suicidal writing on it and turned like depressed and stuff. It makes me said to know someone that i was such good friends with turn out so unhappy.

The mind itself can be a powerful thing. How your mind works is based on your memories and experiences. Now, the attitude is how you react to your environment, so changing it can create a number of possibilities. I guess you can do such a thing but sounds far-fetched. This would take of 5 years at least if you want a complete personality overhaul. I can't help but scratch my head at this, but I might just be over thinking it. A less deep thought might be changing your habits can affect your entire life. I'm not in favor of this quote, it just seems like stating the obvious.

I feel this quote means that you can do whatever you want with your life. You make all the decision with your life. Now granted some are veered in different directions by what other people say but that's your choice on letting them do that. Also the way to change your life is that you have to change you. Not just your appearance but you attitude toward things and the way you handle different situations with other people. I feel this relates to me in some way's. Mainly because i feel i do need to change in some ways on how i treat people and how i am in school and other things. One real good example is my grandpa died yesterday and my dad was looking for some pictures with him and his father. My dad found very little of him and his dad alone. So i am going to try to be with my dad more often and do more things together with him. Also try to get a lot more pictures with him to remember him by and just so when im feeling down when im older i can go to my pictures with him and just think about all the good times i have had with him through out my life.

PS: Mr. Kay i will not be in your class tomorrow i am going to my grandpa's funeral.

Mr. Kay,

I believe that this quote means that you can change the way you do things by simply changing the way you think. This quote relates to my life. When I have a habbit that I don't like, all I have to do is think about ways that I can change it. It makes it that much easier. For example, I have this habbit that I get easily mad at my sister. I hate getting yelled at for doing it out of habbit so I decided to sit and think about ways that I can just deal with my sister. It's not easy, but I am getting better at not getting so mad. I kind of take it as a joke. In a good way, I smile and listen to her, then just laugh it off. Know she is the one that yells at me when I am not yelling at her. Ive also gotten better at laughing when I fall or say something stupid. I figured that there was no use getting upset, its over and done, you can't change what happened, so you might as well make the best out of it.

I think that this means that if you change the way you think of things then it can change your life. Or if you change something about yourslef then that can change your life. For example if you change your religion then that would change the way you live. If you think you cant do something and you are all negative about it and then change your atitude twards it then you can acomplish that and that changes how you view that. We can control how we feel about things. Like you could be depressed all the time and to help that you can take medication or just talk to someone about your feelings. If we se that we have a problem then we should probably get help and change it so we dont have a problem.

William James is saying that you can be what you want to be. That if you put your mind to something you can accomplish it. you can achieve any goal you set for yourself. you might just have to work harder than you thought, but you can do it. it is all mental, you have to have confidence in yourself. i have a problem with this sometimes and don't always have a lot of confidence. i don't think i can do something and i keep telling my self i can't so i never try. if i blocked that out i could do things and succeed. sometimes when i am in a game i pass the ball when i really don't have to because i think someone else could get it somewhere better than me. my soccer coaches tell me i have to have more confidence in myself because they know i can do it, i just have to believe.

I think this quote means that when you change how you think your life will become better. If you want to change the way you life your live i think it must first start within yourself. When someone with an drug or alcohol problem wants to get help everyone will focus on the mental problem behide why they drink or do drugs. When they get help they change how they think. When you are done with how your living you should look within and change something. Everything starts with the mind. If you think in a positive way it makes everything more better.

I think this quote means people can change there life by how they think. I don't think only his generation can do that because people are allowed to do as they please. People may take drastic changes in life because they do whats better for them. Say a guy quits his job because he wants to choose a new field that would be considered altering life with his attitude of mind. This relates to me because I do this all the time. Say I want something bad but in a week its no longer in my interest and I want something else. I just used my mind to do something else I want. I also used this in school and what job I want to do.

I think this quote mean that if you have your mind set to something you can do it. If you don't think you can do something than you most likely will never try. If you think you will be able to do what you want then you will get farther. The better your imagination the bigger your life will seem. If you want to get somewhere or do something then you just have to have your mind set on it and you will do fine. You can always change your actions you just have to think. An example is that i really wanted to make the varsity cheer team. I wanted it so bad but i really didn't think i could do well enough to make it. I tryed and tryed till the try-outs come along. i made varsity and i was so happy! you can do anything you have your mind sent to.

What I think this quote means is that you can change yourself by being in a situation. Also, it means by what they have gone through in life. Like for example, being in a fight in school or with family. This quote relates to me because after I had my first sezuire I started to lose my patiences easily. I would go off and start getting in a argument about nothing. I think if people didn't get themselves in a situation they wouldn't change their attitudes. I learned how to control my temper by learning from my mistakes.

I feel this means that by the way your attude is presented, your life is presented. I find this true because many poeple choose to alter or destroy their lives by making stupid decisions. Say someone that was usually a smart person was at a party and was offored to do a drug. This person at first has the coomon sence to say no but is bribed into doing so. This small action may cause that intellegent young person to waste the rest of there lives. This shows an example of the quote because the persons actions make him do things he normally wouldnt do for now on. Walking through the halls at lakeland and thinking back to this quote makes me laugh by looking at all of the people i once talked to or went to elementry school with and thinking to my self, "oh mt god that person use to be like that and now look at him just because he did that one thing that one day". Decisions in life weather it is good or bad. Is going to alter the outcome of your choice.

In my opinion this quote means that you can change the course of your life by having a positive attitude. Only you can decide how you react to a situation. You can be perceived as a person with a positive attitude or a person that has a negative attitude. If you feel depressed or don't have the attitude that you can do something, than chances are you won't. If you have a positive attitude other people can see that and are more willing to help you; and on the other hand if you have a negative attitude someone is less likely to go the extra mile to help. We have been given this great gift of life and I intend to make the best of it. When I started playing tennis with my dad I would get so mad that I couldn't beat him. The madder I got, the worse I played...and I must have been perceived as a poor sport. And that is exactly what I was. One of these days I will beat my dad, and what a sweet victory that will be; and the reason I will beat him is because I chose to practice and continue playing and not give up. Postiive attitudes bring positive things!

In my opinion this qoute means a couple things. First of all, it is saying what ever your attitude is determines how long you live. Also, the better one you have the better chance you will live longer. Plus it's all in your mind and how you percieve things and look about them. This relates to me because when i think about certian things bad it usually doesn't end up being good for me. That does go the other way which is good. An example is if you think that a team is really good and you can't beat them then you probably won't. Or, if you think something is to good for you, like a group in school, then you will not have the will power to becaome a part of it.

To me, this quote means that in order to make a change in your life, you need to change your way of thinking first. You cannot expect to be able to make changes suddenly if your mindset is still indecisive. Making changes starts with your attitude, and from there you can set forth to carry out the change you want to make. If I ever know I have to make a change in my life, I have to set my mind to it. I have to make goals and keep a positive attitude. Sometimes changes may take a while to complete, so staying positive and determined can help you accomplish it faster. Me and my sister wanted to get our splits, so we both decided we would stretch daily. She got lazy and only stretched once a week, but I stayed determined to get my splits and stretched multiple times a day. It only took me a few weeks, but I finally got them, because my mind was set on the goal I wanted to reach.

This quote mmeans to me that as people we can change how we act and do things by changing how we think. By changing mentaly you can change phyicaly, the example WIlliam uses is the attitudes of the mind. It is a great discovery that at some point make, which changes how most people think and do things. This relates to me beacause alot of people say that if someone is a slacker then they will always be a slacker or something like that. But those types of people can turn their lifes around by changing how they think. By changing how they think they have altered their life for better or worse. I think that alot of people in my generation have not discoved this idea, if they did you would see the effects in our school. Remember it does not matter how far you go down a wroung road you can always turn around. If you want to change your life you can but it wont be easy and YOU have to want to CHANGE.

I think this quote means that you can change your life by changing your attitudes. I think it also means that you can change the way you do things by changing the way you think. If you change your attitude on life you will change your life. Once you make that change you will look at life different and you will be led to do that. If you change the way you think you will change by what you do. By changing that you can be led to do what you think is right or wrong. This can relate to me in a couple of ways. One way is if I changed my attitudes on what I want to do in the future it will also change my life. If I change the way I do things then I may think differently of what I should do.

I think it means you are able to accomplish what you want to set your mind to. If you set your mind to be successful you can and do what ever you want. Like lets say I want to create a company. If I get financing and work my ass off i probably could. I could also apply this to school. If I worked hard and everything I could get A's. If I have a positive attitude about everything I probably wont be to annoyed with things. If I let things get to me and get annoyed easily I probably would get pissed off at everyone and thing.

To me, this quote means that if you want to change your life, you have to want to change your life. If your mind isnt set to change or you feel indecisive, then you shouldnt do that. You cant go far if your attitude isnt set on it. This quote relates to me because i know if i feel indecisive about something or my gut feeling isnt right, then i know i shouldnt do that particular thing. You cant expect to change if you dont feel it is right. I know from experience, because a couple years ago, i didnt really try in school and was sort of slacking off, but once i set my mind to do better, then i progressively got my grades up in school. Its all about believing we can do something, and thats the most important in life.

I think that this qoute means that what ever our minds are set to do we can acompish it. It goes with the saying you can do anything that you dream to do. If you have your mind set on a goal the chances are that you are probly going to achieve that goal. Your whole life refelcts on what you want to do. People can do almost anything and that affects on how you live your life. This relates to me because I have many goals that I would like to accoplish. Some of them are simple and some of them are a bit chalenging. If I succed or fail these goals it will affect my life. For example one of my goals is to graduate. I feel that I am going to graduate and have mo doubt that I will. But if I don't my whole life will be changed and I will hace to rethink my goals and my life.

I believe this quote is saying that once you change your attitude about everything, your life will soon begin to change. If you have a negative attitude, then your life begins to become negitive. If you have a positive attitude, you life will also besome positive. If you make a mistake in life you dont have to get down on yourself. You can fix everything you do no matter how bad it is as long as you have a positive attitude on in, you WILL succeed. If we really want something we dont just stand around, WE GO FOR IT. For example, i have a really bad anger problem and have been trying so hard for about six months to brake this harsh problem.

This quote means if you put your mind to it you can do what ever makes you happy. To make this task possible you must have a optimistic attitude and patients. You can not change your attitudes over night. It takes time and repetition. This quote relates to me because I had to change my study habits. I used to be able to not have to study for tests and still get good grades. Since high school began I have had a much harder time on test. Since my grades have decreased I have tried harder to set away time to focus and study for test. My study habits are far from perfect and I hope they will continue to get better along with my grades.

This quote can mean many different things. To me, I think this quote says that people don't need to stay in one path. By changing their attitudes just the slightest bit can create another path that you can travel on. Changing in the middle of your life is a possibility that you create by keeping a good but changing attitude. This relates to the idea of life being a roller coaster. There are always ups and downs you will face. This is how it relates to me in my life. My attitude changes daily and sometimes even hourly. I focus on my goals however it requires my attitude to change much of the time. Soccer is a key example to this idea. I've played for a while and sometimes my attitude is screw the sport. However staying focused and determined is the attitude I try to live by.

I believe that this statment is true. Someone can change their future just by changing their attitude. For example, if someone wanted to be a professional basketball player, that person would have to work for it. If your attitude was thaT YOU THINK it should be given to you then you won't make it to the pros. If you change that attitude and are now willing to work toward making it to the pros you just may make it. This relates to me because i have some what oof a bad attitude about sports. When i play a sport no matter how good i am i always put myself down . I don't know why i do this but it's just somthing i do so i don't get my hopes up. Like when i play golf. I put my self down forcing me to have a bad mind set, making my next shot even worse then the first. If i had a better attitude toward golf i belive i would be much better.

In more detail, like in life there are many ups and downs because of the way you feel, i think its because the way you want to feel, and you can controlll that sometimes, and sometimes not. attitudes change frequently, specially w/ me. everything can turn around. for example, i could be in science having a bad time because that class is boring and i really dont like it, anyways when i get to foods i have a smile because i see many that mean so much to me. Once something is bad it can turn around to something good, so dont always think that your life is crappy bc things will get better.

Like for say you wanted to win a dance off. If you tell yourself that you can do it, and stay calm about it.. You will probably do it. Or say for an example from my life. I wanted to learn keyboard. I think that this quote is very true and everyone can learn from it. It is saying that if you change your attitude and outlook then you can change your life. If you have a good attitude and take on life then you are going to be a happy person and have and easier life than if you are always really negative about things. The way you see the world really has a lot to do with how you react to the things going on in it. This quote relates to me in a lot of ways. Sometimes when I'm having a bad day I have a really bad outlook on life and get really crabby. If I changed the way I saw things I might see that the day really isn't that bad and its all in my head and I'll have a better day. I think we can all relate to this quote and if we listen to what it says then we can have a better attitude and overall a better life.

To me this quote means you can change the way your life is going by just changing how you view things. If you have a bad attitude on something you won't do well at it. But if your optimistic and think positive then you will do better at the thing your doing. This also can mean that even if you have done something in the past that is bad, you can still change who you are and make it so you don't get in trouble anymore. An example of this that I can think of is my brother. He doesn't always have a positive outlook on things and he always gets angry when they don't turn out so well. And I agree with this quote because I do believe that people can change. If you did something really bad doesn't mean your a bad person forever, cause you can change how you act.

I know that they should be able to get married. I had my mind made up about Mr. Kay . I heared that he was the biggest dick in Lakeland. So the first day of the year I was so scared to go to his class. As time went on I found out that if you do your work and have fun while doing it you will be ok. I cannot stand when others bring in their negative self into a room and make everyone who is feeling happy, feel just as bad as they feel. A good example for me would have to be my mom. I have a good day at school. She has a bad day at work. She comes home yelling and brings in her negative attitude and she makes us all feel like crap. If you tell yourself you can do it, then chances are you will, within reason. But, if you decide you dont care where your life is headed, most likely you will not be successful at life. I personally think I am on the right track in my life. I am doing well in school and think I know a lot about what's going on in the world. I know and understand politics and economics, and this is all becasue I have decided to care about my future. I have set goals and I try hard to achieve them.

If you dont think the way others do, people will think differently of you in a way. Also, if you chnge your mind about the way you act, then you could change the way that the rest of your life yurns out. FOr instance, when I was in 8th grade, I was an all A student. Now, i struggle to get B's. I think that I made a bad decision that could alter my life in a negative way. Now I am going to make another choice and try to change how I have been lately.

I believe that this quote is trying to say that no one can change you, only you can. However, you can only change yourself if you want to, not because someone else wants you too. I believe this quote is very accurate. A person's feelings is all based off of their mind. For example, I've a cold for the past week and a half, and occasionally loose my voice. So when people who are trying to have a conversation with me, I don't really answer that well. Yes, I respond, but I do it in an attitude of "Why are you talking to me?". This makes me feel so bad, because I'm not that kind of person at all. Recently, I have discovered my rudeness to the people I care for the most, and I do not like it. Like the quote said, you can change by your mind. I will begin to set a 100% happy attitude as I normally am, and go back to the way I used to be, and not let my cold interfere. Everyone is their own person, and they should be who they want. Not what someone else wants.

I do agree that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind. If you alter how you think your actions change. We have been talking a lot about this in my family. You have to make the right choices in life. You choose your attitude whether it is a positive or negative one. A positive attitude means doing the right thing even if you do not want to. A negative attitude is doing the what ever you feel like whether or not it is good for you or the people around you. Recently, I was out sick for a day. I neglected to take the make up test in my class, because I chose not to follow up on my assignments. My parents made me realize that this is a negative attitude. To get a good grade I need to change my attitude and take the test. Taking the test will alter my grade and in turn improve my standing with my parents, which will improve my life.

I think what this quote is trying to express is that nothing can hurt or help as much as your own thoughts and attitude to things. I truly believe that negative thoughts, create negative outcomes. And positive thoughts will result in positive outcomes. The way you think about an obstacle in life will coincide will the results. If you want to do something, you have to believe you can do it. repeating that it's impossible will only create the situation to become impossible. We are all capable of our goals, you just have to believe you can reach them. you have to develop a mind set that you can do what you set your mind to.

This quote means that no matter what your life is like you can change it. All you have to do is alter your mind and your free to do whatever you like. Your mind is what makes things possible, and if you decide to use it wisely you have so many oppurtunities. I think this relates to me because when ever i really want to accomplish something i just set my mind to it. This tends to make my life a lot easier. An example of this would be the vocab tests. I realized if I just took a few minutes out of my day to study I could get all of them correct. This enhanced my grade in your class. Im quite glad I altured the attitude of my mind.

To me, this quote is telling that if one lets up on a goal or dream, you can never reach full potential. Its saying dream big, and dont let anything stop you. It tells that dont let anyone discourage you in what you believe in. I think a great example of people getting discouraged is in sports. For example if the other teams point gaurd is playing better defence than you are on him, its easy to get down. Another is getting barked at by a coach. Sometimes their words can be damaging.

i think that this means that if you change your attitude then it can change the way you act. this relation that this has with me is that i think that i need to change my attitude about thing in mt life. like my attitude towards school. i don not like school at all i think that school is a complete wast of time. another example is my attitude towards my parents if i don' change it then i probably going to go to boot camp. a lot of people in this country should try too change the way the act. that is my opinion.

i think this quote is saying how a persons attitude can make such a huge difference in their life. your attitude on a situation can make a world of difference. i think a really special trait in a person is their abbility to make a good thing from a bad situation. to me i think this is a really good quote, whats the purpose of living your life being mad about something or not making the best of a situation? very rarely in life you get to have a second chance at a situation you handled poorly. you can always turn things around for yourself. so many people just come up with excuses when they could fix their problems by changing their attitude.

I think that the quote means that the greatest thing a human can do is alter his attitude. Just by changing your attitude, you can dramatically change your life. Your perception of life affects the outcome. If you are continually angry or depressed, your perception of life most likely is going to be angry and depressed. The same is true if you have an optimistic view on life. This effects me because I can have a positive outlook on life just if I alter my attitude when I am upset. A phrase that comes to mind when I read this quote is, "the glass is half empty, or the glass is half full." You can either look at life as an opportunity or a burden. An example is Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. Scrooge was a cold-hearted grumpy old man who was always pessimistic. In the end his attitude is changed and he became a happy and optimistic man. The greatest discovery is being able to take a not-so-great scenario and turn it into a positive.

I think this means that a person can change their lifestyle as long as they change the way their mind works. For example, if someone if rude, or greedy, they just need to treat people how they want to be treated. Also, that person should try and be nice to others. I think this is a great quote because it is true in many ways. You change yourself through your mind. You have to believe in yourself in order to change. This portrays to me by telling me that i can accomplish anything i want, as long as i put my mind to it. This mindset goes for everyone in the world.

I think it means that the thought of doing something differently, a person can change his way of life completely.

I. for one, fail at attempting this. There are some things I cannot stop doing. Drawing, day-dreaming, periodic narcolepsy(normally in third/fourth/sixth hour). No matter how hard I try, I cannot change my ways. From being a dreamer to being an uptight, friendless jerk. That doesn't seem like a desirable path.

If I tried to change the simplest thing in my lifestyle(such as proper posture, to taking over-the-top notes on every lecture), I could become someone I'm not. I'd probably forget who I used to be. I'd be more agressive, more uptight....Less..'me'...

the greatest thing that we can do, is that we can have many different thoughts and views on subjects in todays day and age a lot more then we could in earlier centuries. we can have more colloquial conversations about sex, life choices, and other taboos of earlier times. but this quote general brings the thought to me that instead of every person sharing the same thought, and those whose ideas were small, were not heard. while in todays times, there are more diverse beliefs upon so many different things, and that no one true belief has a huge conflicting over another. to conclude this, we alter our minds for others because we have care and want for and from them respectively; whilst we carry our own sperate opinions, and carry our own choices. with both the give and take from others, we cope with the problems that occur in our lives.

I totally agree with this quote. I believe that you change how you live your life by attitude. To me this relates because often I make mistakes and have to think about things. I think about what I did wrong and how I can mentally change my attitude towards it for the better. Their are many various examples of altering attitudes, such as going to college. If a person doesn't like the way he was treated in high school he can completley change his way of thinking in college. The kid could act more tough and get the don't mess with me attitude going. People change attitudes all the time, sometimes better changing their lives, sometimes worse.

to me this quote simply means that if you are not happy with your life that it is farely easy to change. People can be whomever they want, all it takes is changing your attitude. Even though someone might not like who they are they can change their mindset and maybe the way they act. To me its kinda like changing who you are. People should like you for what you are not what they want you to be. This also reminds me of peer pressure because people change who they are to fit in and basically that's what this quote is saying. Its not bad to want people to like you but you should find people that like you for who you are. An example could be like someone who is told to make fun of someone else to fit into a group. So maybe someone changes what they think is right or wrong to fit in with the crowd. Personally I dont like the idea of changing who you are. A good reason to change your attitude could be like towards school. Maybe someone says they want to start getting good grades. I dont really think that is that bad.

"The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind."
William James

What do you think of this? How does it relate to you? Any examples?

I tihnk that this means your life will only be as good as you make it. This meaning, to stay positive and have a good attitude. It means that the better we act during life the better our lives will be. I tihnk that this is ture becuase i have seen it with things in my life. I tink that this year in hockey i got off to a bad start. I was down and thought i was terrible. But lately, i have been positive and more enthusiastic abut my play, and it has worked to help me play alot better. Secondly, in school. I knnow im a loudmouth and i talk too much, but ther more positive i am in the classroom the better my grades are. when i walk in and am comfortable i tihnk i learn things better, and ejoy it alot more.

Human society is consisting of interactions between people, which means we live getting influenced by each others' actions. It can be either good influence, or band influence. However to improve the society, it'd rather be good influence than vicious one. Then where do the nice action derive from? The stem of every single our action is our mind. They are up to how we set up our minds about the things we're gonna do. Sometimes, and, a small change of mind changes the whole thing. Even if there's still the same situation of inferiority, once you see more positive, and brighter side than the aspects of glooms, you'll get to have more energies in boosting your self to improve the situation. It's, and jus same as among human societies.

I think this quote means that you can change everything about yourself from what you like, and what you don't like, which people you like to hang out with and so on and so forth. Yet it also means that William James' generation is or was the only generation that can or could do that. My generation can do that to as well as any other generation in my opinion. I can change who I like or dislike just by changing the way I think. Or I could even change how I act towards people just by changing the way I think of how I should act. It's not hard to do, people do it everyday. Heck, even I do it everyday.
