Besides taking an innordinate amount of time for vocabulary, we talked about the idea of transcendentilism. This movement dealt with people wanting us to think more intuitively and romanticly. Also this movement deals with us as individuals and asks for us to think as individuals.
With that said, do you see your self as and individual or more part of the group? Explain why for either and also mention why both can be important to a society.

Mr Kay,
I think of myself more as an individual. I think that outside of school i mostly do my own thing. I think that i choose to do other things. I spend most of my time, playing sports. I dont think that other than a few people many dont spend as much time as i do with out of school sports. I think that being an indvidual has its ups and downs to a society. It has a good side where it can make people begin new ideas for a society. But a bad side where it can single people out and make them feel lonely.
Mr. Kay,
I think of my self in a group. My friends and I are all the same. We aer all crazy and weird. And not well liked. I don't think that i will ever be an individual. I don't want to be. I want to always be part of a group. I don't think that be lonly can be a bad thing.

I think am more as an individual but in some cases in a group. i mostly do things on my own i like doing my own thing. In some cases i think that i find myself with a group when things get to hard for me i ask for help thats where the group thing comes along. I think being an idividual will get you further in life then being in a group. You can think on your own and act as one instead of having other people help you. Both are important to society because many people are eirther a part of a group or doing there own thing.

I feel I am an individual person, I make my own choices and respect my values. I cant say I am completely my own person, everyone around me has contributed in some way. In a sense I feel like I can be both. I believe all groups are made out of individuals with similar beliefs. If a group has the same belief it does not infer conformity, just the same interests. Both individualist or people who perceive themselves as part of a group are important. With out individualists there wouldn't be good leaders and being apart of a group make others feel accepted.

I see myself as being an individual bacause in school i may have friends but i tend to put them aside and tend to focous on myself and what i want to be. Yeah being an individual my be good but also has its downs. Such as, you maby leaving people out and having them feel lonley but just because that doesnt mean you have to change and thing you have to be in a group because you dont. Be who you think and want to be and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Also being an individual can be important to a society by doing you own thing and showing our society that its okay to be different or an individual. Its always okay to be an individual because no one can tell you that you cant do this or do that or be someone you dont want to be. Being an individual can also mean that you can be individual but also a group. Be who you are and dont change.

To start off, I see myself as an individual. I make my own decisions, and do what I like to do. Yet, I'm not saying i'm not in a group, I think I started off in a small group, that lead me to where I am today, If that makes sense. I think individualists help the communities with ideas, and many people follower their beliefs and values. I think groups of individuals make people feel acccepted because they can be all the same, or all different, which can lead to feeling important. I like people can be themselfs no matter what people say about them. I'm like that to, I respect people like that. Just imagine the world without different people, the world would be way different. So, having individualists is very important.

I see myself more as an individual becuase I think that I am loud and outgoing. I am usually one who doesn't follow the group because I mess up. Generally, I try to find a way out which makes me an individual. Sometimes I tag along with a group and ask questions. I would say, however, that I am more of an individual. Both of these types are important in society for a number of reasons. First of all, society needs individuals to thrive due to entreprenuership. Groups are needed for planning different things. They are the ones that monitor the individuals.

I see myelf as more of an individual. I can get by without being in a group for a short amount of time, although being without one would be difficult. I sometimes benefit from being an individual because it really makes me think how to do things different. Individuality can help you have new ideas or a different point of view. Being individual can make you more independent from things people in a group need. Both can be important to a society by everyone having a place for themselves. IF you still need attention on a certain weakness or something, a group shares the same thing. Being individual is like living by yourself, you know how to take care of yourself and get by in the world.

I think of myself as a individual , but alsoo in other ways part of a group. At school i have my group of friends, we arent all alike but we stick together. Then outside of school i am a individual. I basicly do my own thing. Being a individual in a society will more then likely get you through life easyer. Its good to do your own thing and not always rely on other people. Or for some other people maybe they need a group to get through life, someone they will always know is there when they need help.

Mr. Kay,
I tend to think of myself more as an individual. I think that I do my own thing when I'm not with my friends, but even when I'm with my friends I always make sure that whatever my friends decide to do, that I'm okay with doing it. I'm not the type of person who will take ordres from someone especialy if I don't think its right. I'm not going to let people boss me around, I think that by letting that happen it reduces your self confidence. I'm always ready to stand up for myself, my friends,my family, and my beliefs. I think that by being an individual you can make your own choices, and stand out from the crowd, and just be different. Different is not bad, being different makes you who you are, and you shouldn't let anyone change that.

I see myself as an idividual. Mainly because i don't like the same stuff that most of my friends do. Also, unlike most people, i listen to all types of music(except country). Most people only listen to a few. People that act as individuals are the people make up there own decisions. So that helps society because those are the type of people that help bring new ideasto help people. And people that are parts of groups help society by voting, because if one of the group members votes for one person the rest probably will too.

I see my self as an individual and a part of the group. In school I more follow my freinds. I follow them because they usally think of fun things to do. Or they make me laugh by doing some dumb idea. But when it comes to doing what I want to do, I don't really care what they are doing and I will go my own way. But most of the times people do what I like to do. When I'm at home I do, almost, what ever I want. Also I find when I'm doing school work I work more as a individual because I don't need that much help.

Mr. Kay,
I think of myself as more of an individual than part of a group. Although with saying this, I think that I ahve moments that I am part of a group when I'm with my friends. But even then I still am an individual because I do whatever I want and dont have to do what I dont want to. I am a person that does sports just about 24/7. Which can be a good thing and a bad thing. I am being an individual, but Im not part of a group, which is good and bad in certain ways. Playing sports gives me a lot of fun in life, but all that work takes me away form spending time just enjoying life with my friends.
I see myself more of an individual person because I do my own thing and make decions that I think are best for me. Outside of school I do what I like to do like playing the guitar and listening to music. I guess I am part of a group when it comes to sports. Like when I am playing softball, and hockey everyone on the team back each other up and gives their ideas on how to win, so its kind of like teamwork. Being an individual person and being part of a group are important to society because everyone has there own ideas to give out. Also, I think it can make a better commmunity. I think that because people will give alot more respect to their community .

Well i kind of see my self as a little bit of both. A lot of the time i like doing things by my self cuz i get to do it the way i want to. I make my own decisons by my self. And sometimes i find it easier to just work by yourself then with others because its less distracting. But I also like working in a group of people other than just myself. working with others mean things get done faster, and somethims its just easier because you dont have to do all the work by your self.
i see myself as both. cuz in certain circumstances i think i do both. like when im with different groups i just be part of the crowd or be a leader. sometimes ill just go with the flow or take charge on the situation. both can be very important to society. it can separate people and its what makes us all different. its probaly differnt for everybody but its what defines them.

I think of myself more as an individual. Because I like to be by myself and i tend to differ from the way my friends act or what they wear. I think it's impossible for everyone to be exactly the same. Being an indivdual is important to society because everyone needs to have different thoughts and views. Because that what makes the world so different. If everyone always thought the same thing, and acted the same it would be pretty boring. But I also think the world needs groups of people who think the same because if we didn't we would all constantly be fighting with everyone. I think that both groups are very important to the world because it's what makes society today.
I am an individual, I make my own choices and follow my own trends. Yesterday in my post I said that in a perfect world everyone would be different. I think that's important because sometimes the individuals are the people who lead groups. They are important to society because every person, I think, is both their own individual and part of a group. Showing the difference is which we choose to be a part of in front of friends or in public. Groups are usually more effective of bringing people together and working together to get something done. Individuals are important in leading people and are often the heroes that people look to for help.

I see myself as an individual person. I like being able to do things myself. I also like being able to do things the way I want them. Being individual can help a person provide for themself and not depend on others. I know that sometimes when things get tough i tend to go to other people for help. In a way I am both an individual and part of a group. I think being an individual can help society because it can give the point of view of how one person sees something. Groups can be helpful because it can keep people from being singled out. Being an individual is being able to get by without the help of other people all the time.

I think that I'm an individual but also part of groups. I have a mind of my own. I do stuff that I like and makes me happy. Such as tennis. But in tennis I am part of that group. We work on stuff as a team, and each contribute. I also choose my friends as an individual but I also am apart of that group of friends. It's important to have both because if we if we were all apart of a group then we would be lost, not knowing what to do. However, if we all were individuals everything will be caotic because everyone in the world will be doing their own thing.

i see myself more as an individual. i have my own mind and i think what i want to. i am not very outspoken just because i don't want to be. sometimes i can adjust and go with the flow. i choose my friends carefully and care about people who are close to me. i could also be put in a group. like if you were grouping teens or the type of people i hang out with. but i am who i am and i don't change unless it is for the better.

At some times it's hard to tell whether I am an individual or part of the group, but for the most part I see myself as an individual. I express myself how I wish and make decisions based on what I feel is right. It is important to have individuals in society because we as individuals bring new ideas and opinions that can better our society. However, both individuals and groups can be important to society. With groups, you can make a decision easier because there are groups of people that have similar views on things. Also groups let people with similar interests be able to understand each other. A good balance of individuals and groups in society make it efficient and also creative.
Mr.Kay,
I see myself as both. the reason for this is because I stand up for what I belive in, I am very opionoated, and at the same tiime i enjoy doing the same things that others do also. I think that in society both matter because we always need people who will express themselves and do things there way. At the same time we also need the people who follow in groups, because how would anything become popular if nobody else did them. In life everyone contributes even if they dont notice because we alsways leave behind something, like an idea or opinion.

I actually am not really sure whether I am an individual or in a group. I consider myself as a jumper If I can put it that way. Sometimes I like to go off and do my own thing, and have my own opinions on certain things. Then other times I like being with my friends where I am most comfortable. Since I consider myself in both categories, I believe that being an individual definitely has it's up's and down's just like being in a group does. Sometimes, It's just good to figure situations out on your own, and to do what you want. The down side is, sometimes you might feel left out. Others I think it's best to be with a group if your having a difficult time, or for any reason. The down side on this is your group might influence to do something, you know is wrong.

I think that i am more of an individual. I don't really like hanging out with people because i get mad at them to easily if im around them too much. Individuals can conribute a lot of important things to the world. Just look a Bill Gates. At first as an individual he made microsoft. Then As a group microsoft grew huge and they made all different versions of microsoft. Each Time those new versions were better. So i think when your with a group there is more room for improvment. There are more minds with more ideas. When your an indivdual there is only one mind to get ideas from. So i would have to say that groups can contribute more to the world but individuals are where ideas are thought of so that the groups can perfect them.
Mainly i see myself as part of a group more than an individual but i will explain why. I see myself as part of a group beacause I like many others are very similar to my peers. We all want to fit in so we all act about the same. But i am also an individual with differnt views then others. I am an indivual and make my own desions in life. Both are very important in our society and it makes America the land of desions. Also the groups in life make us feel like we belong to something.
I dont really know what I see myself as. I think I am more of an indivdual rather than part of a group. I kind of am an individual becasue I think when I am part of a group I usually tend to get more in trouble. I try to say whats a good idea and whats not, and if it is a bad idea then I just do the right thing. On the flip side I think it good sometimes to be a part of a group. It is always fun to hang out with your friends and do what you do for fun.

I think of myself as a individual many. At times i am part of a group but thats really only during a couple sports. I think that whether i am in school or out i do my own thing not really worrying or caring about others that much. Also, i basically make my own choices and don't go with others. With that i hardly fall into peer pressure and if i do it's just agreeing to something not life threatning like drugs. Also, i have my own values and only a couple of them i got from a group. Now individuals are good for society because if they have an idea to help something they will just go do it by them selfs and get it right. But groups have more people to decide what is right to do and only a few people could be mad were if an individual could make the wrong decision and make everyone mad.
Ty Bouwens, 6th hour
I see my self in between. I can be my own person. Respect my own values. And work on my own. But at other times i can be more part of the group. Both can be important to the society because individual is you go and vote. Or you make your won choices. A Group is where people get together to make something happen. As in like your job. Sometimes you have to work with other people to get the job done. Thats what i think.

I definitely think of myself as an individual. I make my own choices and want to live my life the way I want it to be led. I feel that, in society, it is the individuals that become successful because people perceive them as leaders. However, sometimes it is best to be part of a group. For example, if you have to work on group a project you must work together. One individual doesn't just do all the work and get all the credit. Everyone has to work together to make it the best. The same goes for society.
I am an individual that is part of a group outside of school. We aren't a gang, or a cult. We are a lifestyle, one that borders the lines of creativity and friendship. Together we are never truely alone, and we find comfort with crowds of people who share our interests. Cartoons, art, costuming, gaming, dancing, and so on. We accept everyone, and do not discriminate other people's cultures, race, sexuality, or religion. We express our ideas and propsitions without fear.

I am a lot different than everyone else, in the way that ill just start laughing in the middle of no where because i thought of something funny. Or i will be talking about something that makes perfect sense but no one else gets it. Both can be important to society because most unique individuals make up the entertainment we all like, comedy's, magic shows ect. Well, I think I am a very strange person. In normal places* I am very social, during parties and social gatherings however I have nothing to say. Even if the normal places has as much as a party, in a party I am quite quiet. Some days I seek out others to spill information (nerd lore, funny situations in world of warcraft ect). Yet on other days...I seek utter solitude and the slightest word to me will aggravate and ruin my mood. Many of this is very variable and makes my persona elastic so these traits as a individual and group type...person...thing will make me more adjustable with a time.

By this time my character is dead and my party is runing and getting their arses handed to them

Feign death=play dead, only hunters can do this
Aggro=having a enemy's attention so that they would attack you
I see myself as more part of the group, but still with individualistic traits. I do sports, just like many other people at the school. Keeping up with homework and projects is a daily stress. My friends and I have many of the same likes and dislikes. Plus, we all enjoy to do most of the same activities outside of school as well as many other groups of friends do. I would like to say that I am an individual and do what I want regardless of what others think, but most of us care what others' views of us are. I do think for myself, but I do not believe that just thinking for yourself is a sign of being an individual. All of us think for ourselves, so if we say that thinking for ourselves and doing something the way we want to do it is being an individual, then we obviously are blind to the fact that all of us are broken into clicks. I believe we all have individualistic traits, but that only few of us are actually individuals.
The few that are truly individuals are important to society because they will be the people who are not afraid to stand for what they believe is right. They will guide large groups of people. In order for individuals to lead, there has to be others to support them or else they will not accomplish much. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. needed people to support him and protest with him for what is right. Individuals and people who are part of the group need to come together in order for a large task to be accomplished, and that is why you need both in society.

The People like me who are part of the group are needed because who would follow the individuals who lead us if we were all leaders, who is there to be led?

I find my self more as an individual than I do as a group. Most things I do are independent, or only have a few people in them. I may be as a group sometimes like in school. This happens in school more because im just around more people. Being an individual in society could be good or bad. Some individuals lead things and have great ideas for future things (kinda like an entrepeneur for example). A bad thing may be lonelyness because it may single you out from the crowd for being yourself.
Honestly, i think i am both an individual, but more part of a group. I think that almost everyone in high school is part of a group. Hardly anyone in an individual. If we were all individuals, then we wouldnt have clique. We would all accept each other for who we are. The sad part is, is that we dont. We all try to fit in. Everyone can be important to society because if we werent important, then we wouldnt be called the United States of America.

I believe that i am half and half with this. One side of me is very individual because after school i usualy come home alone and do all home work alone. Other parts of me like being around people. Things such as sports, friends and family. Around sports i need to be involded more as not an individual. This is because it is not a person that makes up a team we all work together. One of the biggest things that i feel i need to be socialy involved in is my family and friends. I feel this because these two come very important to me. I think I am an idividual in many different groups. I have a lot of different groups of friends in different places. In all of them I am just being myself and don't change based on what other people are doing. I am still part of the group and I think that's good because it makes things more interesting and diverse. I will try something that I really want to do even though everyone else thinks it's really stupid. It doesn't really matter to me what they think but I can still listen to their opinion and appreciate it and see their side of things. Being part of a group is important in society because you have to be able to work together and accomplish things. Being an individual is important in society because without the ibdividuals we wouldn't have the great leaders we have and the world would never have any new ideas.
I think of myself as an individual, who may seem to be a part of a group. If you get to know me i really am not a normal good, or person. I think no one is normal though, and its good to be individual. If you see yourself as just a group you will never find who you really are. People think if you be the way you truley are you wont be accepted. When in reality no one likes someone who acts different from who they are. But in society today sometimes being an individual may single you out. I think no one should concern themselves with what other people or thier "group" see's them as.

the first thing i thought of when i heard this question, was a quote from one of my favorite comedians, Lewis Black; and to quote: We are All individuals, in essence, we are snowflakes. this really is the basis of my whole answer, because, as Mr. Black Said, we are all snowflakes. no for anyone who didn't know, but every single snowflake that has ever been made has always been different. just like you and me. we are all individuals, and there is no denying it, but our individualism could be measured like a snowflake could be compared to how much it is alike another flake. but the big thing about snowflakes, is that there are so many, that we can not tell the difference, and because they are so small. i can also say that, we are all the same, yet we are all so very unique.
But, heres where we get separated from those little flakes that make us cold every time they touch. you have those, who are very far from the crowd. I strive to be different from many people, and i also strive to be a part of things.
So when i think about this question, I see myself kinda like the snowflakes, in that i may look the same as the rest, but i am trying to be more out of the individuals group.

Note: Snowflakes i believe are one of the many things we can be compared to, that comparison being between the object, and as us, human beings
another comparison, which i find very unfortunate, and which i will leave you off with: "as we are compared to snowflakes, their is a very great comparison to be made; just as fast as a snowflake is made, it just as easily disappears"
I challenge you who read this to compare that to us human beings.
I find myself as an individual rather than being in a group. I find myself as an idividual because I like to think for myself and make my own choices. Also I really don't like when people tell me what to do. It really makes me mad when people try to boss me around and act like they are more superior. I think that being an individual can be an important part of society because, the individuals are the ones who make the important choices, and they're the ones who take risks. Being in the group is also important to the society because when you're in a group you are protected by other. Also when you are in a group you don't have to make all the tough decisions. All together I think either option is good as long as it benifits you.

I see my self as being both. The reason for that is that sometimes I feel better an individual at times and the rest I feel like I need to work as a group. Like for example I am on the tennis team and we rely on each other to support the team. And all my friends are crazy and weird in a good way. At times I mostly do things on my own. Both are important to society because many people are earthier a part of a group or being and individual.

I see my self as being both individual and as part of a group. In school i am more part of a group. I am part of a group because I dont like to be alone. But when i go home i am an individual. When i get home i clean the house, watch my little brother and do my homework. And sometimes if i have the time i will go out with my friends.

Mr. Kay,
I see myself as well a bit of both. I am, as for as I can say, an individual but my friends do guide me. I'm dont really care if my friends do something different bbecause I wont do it unless I want to, but they do help my in decisions. I can do what I want and be who I want so my friends dont really guide me in that way but they always can help my with supporting upon those things. I am more independant then I am a group. I think it is important to be an individual in society because you can be a leader and such. Also, you dont need others as a crutch to be big in life or in society.

I could see myself as both. I am an individual because I have my own opinions and have my own mind. I keep the values I have no matter who im with. But , I could also be part of alot of smaller groups. I have many different kind of friends , who arent all friends with each other. Both are important to society because when your an individual you can be more creative and sometimes more sucessful. A good thing about being part of a group could be if your working on something and you have to make a thing , you can have a bunch of different ideas to make one good one.

I find myself to be rather individualistic. I made this comment already tonight in an earlier blog[.][.][.]
I dont wear the same clothes, eat the same food, do the same stuff, listen to the same music, etc. etc.
