Day 10

Hope you had a great weekend and did not get that wet. Do not forget that your vocab needs to be done so you can go over it with the sub. Do not misbehave with a sub or you will not be happy with my mood on Wednesday.

Today we discussed the concept of the American Dream. Discuss, again, what this concept means and how you think it may have impacted your family and your life even if you did not know you were living the American Dream. Also, tell me how you think you can support this idea as you get older.

Mr.kay,
The American dream means having success in America or as being an American. This has impacted my life in many ways. One of which is because my parents want me to be successful in life. With that it makes me try my best to do good in what I do even if I don't really want to do it. Also, when I have done bad on something my parents get upset and make me do better or things get taken away from me untill I am more successful. I can support this idea by continueing donig good and attempting my best effort on everything. Also, when I have children i will tell them to be success and help the american dream. In addition to that i can tell my grandkids, nephews, and all other relatives about it to help them be successful.

The Americana dream to me means opportunity. The bulk of the American Dream consists of, getting a good job, buying a home, raising a family and just being successful in general. The American Dream has impacted my life significantly. Without the American Dream we would not have the same opportunities as we have in today's world. My family is really big on going to school, and getting a good college education. Maturing and getting a high paying job would be the next step and eventually having a wife and kids.
My support for these ideas comes from my ability to strive for more. I want more for myself and my kids in the long run so i will keep working hard until the end.

The American dream means to be free or successful in life. This has impacted my life in a few ways. First off, my parents try to make sure that i do my best in everything i do. Wether it's school, or a sport that i'm in. They always try their best to make me a better person. I can support this by teaching my kids the same thing. And making sure that are successful in everything they do.

THe American dream means being sucessful and being free as an american. The american dream has impacted my family by letting us be free. Not everyone has freedom so it is good that we americans can be free. Another way the american dream has impacted on my family is success in what we do. My parents have some good jobs and are successful. As i get older i can support this dream by also being succesful in what i do. I can have a good job and be good at what i do.

The American dream itself was created around the early US day, my mistake the dream was even before that, or even before there was a thought of a America! For a dream is a hope and a hope is created from misfortune, so for all we know, religious freedom, having kids, having top notch technology, if so, the American dream was created in the before BCs! But I am getting off track. The American dream has greatly changed, the dream now consists of having to succeed where others have not and passing the success like a trait to your children. I never really like the idea of a American dream, for it sets a self standard and then feel unmotivated (I don't really get it myself). SO as I get older I will try to set goals and try to become ambitious in doing so and try to learn from my mistakes.

Mr. Kay,
The American dream is a very important concept in every Americans life. It mostly consists of getting a job, getting married, and purchasing a home. In America there is a great opportunity for anything that you try for and try to earn, can happen. The American dream isnt that since you live here that you get anything that you want, but that you have the opportunity for anything to happen that you want to happen. All of the resources are here for you to be successful, btu you have to go ut and take it. Like you said today, some people a while back came here because they thought that they would be wealthy if they just showed up, that obviously was wrong, but being a wealthy american doesnt just mean having a lot of money, but having great friends and family that other countries dont have.

The american dream is many things and it is constantly. But the main piont of the amereican dream is to be free. Freedom means alot in Amereica. It what makes america such a great place to live in. In other countries they don't even come close to being free. If you say something bad about your leader you could get killed. I really don't want to be living in that kind of place. Freedom impacts my family alot. They get to vote, have good jobs, live in a nice house, have kids and live there life freely. So if they weren't able to do these things, life would suck. I will be supporting these by doing them when I get older. I will be living the american dream.

The American dream is based on success. Successful in all of the aspirations in life, a good education, a family, prosperity, and a white picked fence. My parents are both very successful and i have been raised on their values. I push myself daily to get good grades and do my best. I will pass my values down to my children, of being successful and hard working. i do believe that it is important to instill family in their values. I think it is a value that should be honored more than it is currently.

Even when things get overwellming. The American Dream is about makeing opertunities for yourself. This does affects my life. This is because my parents want me to have all the oppertunities open for me so I can choose what I want to do with my life. This makes them push me to work harder. This also has them check with my grades to make sure I'm doing well. This will allow me to have many options such as college and a good career. I support this idea by always trying my hardest and testing it by doing the same for my kids.

The American Dream is living the ideal successful American life. It consists of getting a good education, good job, raising a family, and having a happy life. The American Dream affects me in a lot of ways. Without it, my family wouldn't have come as far as they did. The people way back on my family tree wouldn't have emmigrated to America without the American Dream. It will affect me because I want to live the american dream. I can support it by telling my kids one day and just living it.

The american dream has shapped my familys goals and values. Since America was the land of oppertunity, it was up to its people to take advantage of it. A good life starts with hard work, and I was taught nothing comes easy and nothing comes free. America had oppertunity everywhere and was always had something for everyone. Since times are getting harder, living the American dream is more difficult to achieve. As I get older it will only get harder to become more successful. A good way to get motivation is, to go after something you want, and if you work hard enough, you have the satisfaction of victory when its all said and done, and now are living the American dream.

I think the american dream is to live life how you wamt, and to be successful. To have a good job, freedom, and a happy life. The american dream is also the opportunity to become whatver you want. Family will always want you to have your own "american dream" to come true. So they want you to do good in school and be mature. My effort is doing my best, because i want a better lifestyle for myself when im older. And my kids or whatever happens in the future.

The American Dream means being free. Also, being able to do whatever we want, and being able to believe in whatever we want. I think it has impacted my life because we can live in a safe place, where we can believe in whatever we want. As we get older, the American dream will change. As time goes on, I think some of our freedoms will be taken away. I think this because our government is doing things that seem to be going against our constitution and our rights. As americans, we need to stand up for our rights. Also, we need to do whats right for our country.

Mr. Kay,
I believe that the American Dream is living up to your standards. I'm not saying that the American Dream is all about having nice things, because its not. Earlier today, you said that Imigrants used to come to the United States because they thought they would be whealthy as soon as they crossed the border into the United States. Odviously they were wrong, because to have the American Dream, you have to be willing to work for it. The American Dream is not something that one morning on Christmas Day, you pull out of your stocking, or find in a present. I believe that the American Dream will be something every citizen will want, but will have to put in the effort to make it realistic.

The ameican dream is a dream held all across the world. it is freedom, wealth, and security. we are very fortunate if we have any of those already. the american dream has made my life and my family's life nice. it has allowed us to have spiritual values and material objects that other places in the world don't have. when we get older i think we can alter the dream a little bit to fit our personalities. but i think we should always have one because it gives us something to strive for.

The American dream means being successful. in order to be successful you have to work hard to accomplish everything. For example work hard to get good grades, so you can get into a good college then get a job then raising a family of your own. My family wouldn't of have come this far without the American Dream. My parents push me hard and have expectations that I have to fulfill though it may be hard at times, I know it's for a good reason. They want me to be as successful as they are, and to keep my options open. When I have a family of my own, I more for my kids, to always keep your head up.

The American dream is to become successful in life. Everyone wants to have a home and a family when their older, and that also is an American dream. This has impacted my life because my parents are always telling me to make good choices and to not get into trouble. My parents American dream was to live in a home on a lot of land. This also has impacted my life because we moved further away from Lakeland because they wanted to make a better life for our family. I think that I can support the American dream by making a family and teaching my children to live a good life. Also I want to have a career that I'm successful in to help support my family.

I think just living in America period is an American dream. In some other countries you cant hardly do anything besides control the way you live. The American dream has been a part of our country ever since we founded it. It is the dream that in America you sieze the opportunities given to you and create a sucsessful life for you and your family. This impacts my family because my dad has worked so much to give us all we need and more. Before he had a job, he took the opportunity to work where he works today, and it has given him much sucess over the years. This concept will hopefully carry on to me and my siblings. As we discussed in class, our generation is supposed to be more sucessful than the one before, and my dad has made it possible for me to have the right tools to do so. When I get older I can attend collage so I can be able to have a job that not only I enjoy, but supports my family and I.

I see it as growing up, getting a good education, pursuing your goals, going to college, getting a job and having a family. I think that everyone, to a certain point, lives the American dream. Opportunities don't have to present themselves to us. We have to make the opportunities. That's why nearly all the people from other countries come to the United States. I plan on doing exactly what I said above to pursue the American dream. I want to get a god job to support myself and my family. That is what I believe is most important.

As I said earlier because of the economic struggle are elders have put us in it is becoming more difficult to achieve the american dream. The American Dream means having the oppertunity to work your way up to success. Even if you don't live in the best conditions, in America you have the freedom to work your way up to be succesful. Tha American Dream has impacted my life greatly. I know that my grandpa grew up on a farm and did not have much as a kid. He worked hard at everything he did and got into a good college. He graduated from Harvard with a 4.0 and moved on to become the Vice President of Harley Davidson. My dad's dad worked as a coal miner and now my dad is a succesful engineer. Both of my parents learned the value of hard work and so have I. I can support this idea by working hard in hihgh shcool, college, future jobs, and any other areas of my life. I can do well in my life to be an example to any children or grandchildren that I might have in the future. I can also pass along the success stories of others and share how to be successful to others that want to learn from me as I mature and grow older.

The American Dream is basically what everyone strives for; success. It has impacted me and my family on many ways. The first one is the fact that it gave me something to work towards. It gives me something to strive for and try to achieve. Therefore, it helps me to persevere in whatever I do. The same thing goes for my family. Without the American Dream, Americans would have nothing to live for. Everyone wants success, so when I get older I will keep trying to achieve what I interpret as the American Dream. Eventually, when I have kids, I will tell them about this and hopefully they will want to go for it as much as any other American does.

Also, tell me how you think you can support this idea as you get older.

well, i believe that the american dream, encompasses all of the american values, but also all our beliefs, wether they be religious or not, and the general american way of life. i can see how it has really impacted a lot of people, because as americans, one of our values is to use our rights, and each and every day, i se people who use their rights, to speak out against oppression, to spread their beliefs, thoughts, imagination and ideas. and the american response is to see what everyone else is doing, and conform. but i think that we should have a part of that dream, to be, to listen to those, and try to accept them for who they are, and their beliefs, even if you do not believe in them, try to reach out and become united with others. thats what happened in the civil rights movements, is that people rose up, stood for what is right, and to not tolerate for one more second what is wrong. but unfortunately, in that american dream. we just conform to one another, and just because we do not want to be the one that stands out.

i feel our american dream at times affects all of us in the positive sense that we will do what we want to, and believe in others, but unfortunately, that dream also inhibits us, in the negative way that people will join the crowd not to stand out, and i think we need to lose that negative part of our dream.

The American Dream is to get what you want most. For a lot of people it's a happy family and a nice home. Some people think it's being successful in your career. It has influenced me and my family because we try to put family first and that will be your american dream. If you try hard enough you can get everything you want the most and still be successful in want you want to be. When I go to college I'm going to put education and family first to be successful in my career. Then I can hopefully be successful in making a family of my own.

I think the American Dream is to be free and have a chance at being sucessful. People when they first came to America longed to be free and have a chance. And people today comming to America still have that dream.Everyones American Dream is different. To me personally the American Dream is to have chance at gong to a good college and being able to have a good job. I can promote this idea as i get older by showing my kids what the American Dream is.

Mr. Kay,
The American Dream is means having many opportunities and fulfilling them. People come here from all around the world to get a chance at the American Dream and if they get the chance, they will get their opportunities and try hard to become whatever they come for. They try harder then lots of people to do fulfill their dreams and make it in this world. It also means freedom and being able to do anything. It has impacted my life by letting me be free all the time to do whatever. Also, I try to be as supportive to different opportunities around my area and in my area of likes. Such as I try to help out and support local skate parks and such. When I am older, I will try and get involved in communities and fulfill any opportunities to help the community. That is what I think of the American Dream.

the american dream to me is just making whatever you want out of this country. That could be making lots of money or just being content. My parents raised me in American to hold all the benefits they had growing up. And more then they had. Im going to pass down to my kids my idea of the American dream. They can use it how ever they like. This is how im going to support this. This is my idea of the american dream.

The american dream in general is simply that, no matter who you are, anyone can succeed and have a good life in america. One way this is evident in my family is my dads job, making around $300,000 a year. Nice payoff, eh? ive always been sent to great schools in great houses (im only in this trailer because i chose to stay back with my fiance). Yep. All i have to say.
