Day 4

Today we discussed the basic things about chapter 2. For this blog, I want you to think a little bit deeper. One of the motifs of the story is following orders. Explain why this may be important when living on the ranch and being a migrant worker. Also, talk about if this style of living can take from one's individuality. Then give an example from your life when taking orders actually helped you in a situation and when it made you question your own sense of self.

I think that following orders is key to any situation, on a ranch and not on a ranch. In order for things to run smoothly everyone needs to play their part, and follow orders. If your living on a ranch you obviously have to follow orders, not everyone can do what they want, when they want. If everyone was doing what they wanted to do I'm pretty sure that nothing would get done, everything would be total chaos. But! If everyone followed orders and everyone did as they were told, we wouldn't be free thinkers now would we? We would all be the same, how fun would that be? Rosa Parks wouldn't have sat in the front of the bus, and Martin Luther King Jr. wouldn't have fought for civil rights. One time during tennis season last year, My one coach asked me what I was doing. I told him that I was getting all the girls together before the match so we could talk about how we were going to play that day. He told me that that wasn't a very good idea and that I shouldn't do that because it was his job. I followed orders and we lost the match. Thanks coach.

Following orders is important when your working on a ranch. This is important because you have to know what to do when you go out and work. If you do not know what to do you could mess up the job your working on. Also this is the only way you can get any more work if the boss or owner knows that you can take orders and follow then threw. This style of living can take from one's individuality. This is because everybody has there own way of doing things. Sometimes when you are taking orders you do things the way you would not the way the boss thinks he wants. AN example when I took a order and it actually helped me was taking an order to do a back handspring. I did what the coach said and did it and achieved it.

FOllowing orders is a big deal for migrant workers for a few reasons. The most important reason is because if they don't they could just be fired, easy as that. Another reason to follow orders is so that you can do your job up to your full potential. Also when you follow orders, people will tend to respect you a lot more and you will become well liked. This also could be a bad thing for migrant workers because it can take away from their beliefs and moral standards. If you tend to be an independent person and then someone comes and bosses you around, one may start to question whether or not they should listent to that person or do what they are used to and what they believe in. An example in my life would in school I get more out of a lesson by just listening and not taking notes so if someone is making me take notes it is a litle bit against my own individuality.

It would be very important and beneficial to follow orders as a migrant worker. If everyone is looking for work like they are in Of Mice and Men, being a migrant worker you would want to work as well as you can because the person that employed you could easily find someone else to take your place. If you dont follow orders, you could easily be taken off the job. Although it may take away from ones individuality, i think its a choice you make. You can be an individual and maybe do what you think is right or you can follow orders and maybe not be an an individual. But if you choose to not follow orders, it may hurt you in the long run, so although you get your individuality, you may loose your work. There are actually many times when taking orders actaully helped me in a situation. I was fighting with my parents about something i thought was wrong and they thought was right. They told me to stop, and i did before i got too into the argument and in doing so i ddint get in trouble, but if i had kept going i would hvae been. Although i wasnt true to myself arguing what i thought to be true, i followed orders and didnt get myself in trouble.

I think following orders is a big part of life on and not on a ranch. Being a migrant worker following orders would be a big deal. If youre going to be a migrant worker then you have to follow orders or the boss would most likely kick you off the ranch. I think is some way this could take a workers individuality because they arent able to do what they want to do everyday. It could also not really take their individuality because even though they are following orders they are still being their self. When i was in gymnastics i always started my tuck in an odd position and when my coach finally ordered me to fix it i found it was much easier for me to do. I questioned my own sense of self when in kindergarten through 6th grade my teachers tried making me hold my pencil like everyone else. In the end i decided to not change how i write because its part of who i am, im different and hold my pencil differently than everyone else.

Following orders is important anywhere you are. It might be even more important on a ranch because the bosses are looking for people who do their best and listen. If you don't listen to what they say and you do something else, they might fire you and find another worker. When being a migrant worker and finding a job, its important to keep the job you have. This can take away from someones individuality because everyone does something a different way. If there always told what to do someone elses way, there not doing what they wanna do. At cheerleading practice one time, I was practicing back handsprings. My gymnastics coach told me all these things that I could do to help me. Thinking that I was doing things right, I tried doing what he said. After trying that, I realized that it helped so much. This made me question myself because I personally thought I was doing everything right and that it looked perfect when I wasn't.

Being able to follow orders is a big part of everyones life, unless your the boss. The boss is someone that eveyone should listen too, including at a farm. It is very important to listen to the boss when you are a migrant worker. This is true because as a migrant worker you can be easily replaced. This is all in the hands of the boss and when you get on the good side of the boss you get more work and more pay. If everyone does exactly as they are told something bad could happen. There could be some random person that becomes a dicktator and starts to kill everyone he doesn't like. Earlier today I went to hitting practice and I was told to swing and drive my back leg up to my chest. I thought how would this help me and after the drill we did some hitting off the tee. When I did that I had a lot more power and wondered what over strang things I might have to do to get more power in my swing.

Following orders on a farm can be very important when living on a ranch. If you just slack off all day and not do your work, your boss can find out and your job is in jeopardy. Also, if you are asked to do something but you never do and you luckily have someone there to cover for you, this worker may lose respect for you and it may cause drama on the farm. This kind of living can take away from one's individuality because what you once used to do that made you you are now taken away and you start to feel like a robot as the days go on. When you turn into a robot, all of your old things you used to love about yourself are gone and it can make you unhappy. I take orders from people everyday, especially in sports. When a coach gives you a drill to do, you don't just blow them off and not do it, you do it because it will make you a better athlete and player. Sure I still be my normal self when I do the drills but I'm sure to listen to the instructions of my coach. Overall, taking orders can be vital towards oneself.

when being a migrant worker following orders is the number one rule of migrant work. this rule would be important to a migrant worker, working on a ranch because the boss could kick you out with no regret and get a new set of people. Working in a migrating pattern can also kill your social life for obvious reasons since your always moving around. this could take away someones individuality because it forces the worker to live however the boss wants them to. one time i remember i had to take orders even tho i didn't think it was right is when i am forced to read a book(not implying anything).this does help me but my individuality is taken away once i am forced to read something that isn't me. this is how i interpret chapter two and how migrant working can take away part of someones life.

Following orders is very important in any life experiences. Generally, the person giving you the orders knows what they are doing. If you are a migrant worker I think it is very important for you to follow orders because you want to keep your job and get enough money for your family before its time for you to move on to the next ranch. This migrant style of living can take from one's individuality because they need to learn to be able to travel on their own and not be lonely. Most men are sad, but they have no choice but to travel alone. In my life, when I was a dancer, it was very important to listen to what our teachers told us. They knew what we were doing wrong and they were trying to help us improve.

Following orders is important while working on a farm because there are curtain ways to do things and the owners like them done a curtain way. Also if you do somthing wrong or forget to do something, things will go wrong. If you are a migrant worker and you dont follow order you are out of there and needing to find more work. When i took orders it made playing the piano much easier. Once i followed the orders i could read music and teach myself other songs to play. Not just following them will make it easier but remembering them for the future will be very helpful. I was thinking i could skip this and ill be fine, but every single step is important!

Following orders is important in a situation such as being a migrant worker. The better you listen and follow directions, the more the boss will like you. Being a hard worker and doing what your told will always get you far in life. However, if you always do what your told then you are risking your own individuality. When I used to do competitive gymnastics, we would always have to do the same routines and all look exactly the same. It truly made me feel like a robot. So I quit that and joined a different program where I was able to express myself.

following orders is very important for the migrant workers. beeing that there there because the owner/boss is letting you be there to work you have to fallow orders. if you dont your likely to be kicked out. living like this means you cant make your own choices, and be independient. if you do it long anofe you could become dependent on them and not be a good choice maker. following order has many times helped and hinderd me. it helped my grades when my parents make me do home work or studie. it has hert me when my parents not let me do sertain classes. this is stoopid because i should be able to choose what classes i want because it is my life regardless if there my parents.

Following orders anywhere you work is very important. If ya don't you will get fired and could put others in danager. On the ranch following orders plays a big role in saftey. Other should know where otheres are at all times. Everyone should be where they are supposed to and everything will run smoothly. I believe style of living plays a big role on ones individuality. One could live in a upper class rich neighbors hood and then you have someone from the ghetto. There gots to act really different and take things in differnently. I take orders to do good in school and i pritty much get anything i want. Then there is the part on where someone tells ya to dos omething when you know its going to get you both in trouble.

When living on a ranch as a migrant worker, it is imperative that you follow orders. Not only is it rudimentary and a basic, common sense no-brainer, it is very useful when working as a team. When preforming jobs that involve more than one individuals effort, it is important to be able to follow orders in case something goes wrong or if necessary procedures must be done. For example, if i never followed orders from my coach when playing softball, then everything would be turmoil and disordered. Everyone will be doing their own thing and what they feel is best.
In moderation, the following of orders can be good, but too much can lead to loss of individuality. If you always have someone there to do the thinking for you, you lose yourself. You become almost robotic. Doing everything you were programed for, but nothing that your sole personality would. It is in correlation with the constant fight between parents and their teens. Teens want to be able to take on more responsibility and make decisions for themselves, while parents still feel the necessity to order around and make the decisions. Teens are imperfect. It's what makes us who we are. The making of mistakes and deciding for ourselves, even if the decisions aren't the best, is what gives us our individuality. Without it, who can say we are human?

When living on a ranch and being a migrant worker following orders is one of your keys to success. It could get you far in your job and well-liked with co-workers and your boss. As an individual person with your own sense of style, thinking, your own perception of life, this can be very difficult. I know from experience that following orders isn't always an easy thing to do but in some cases, that's your only option if you want to succeed. As a migrant worker, their didn't really get to find themselves too well. They lived the traveling and working life and did the same exact thing every other worker did everyday with the same routine. They didn't get to live life too well. Now that I have a job, I've learned to grow up a lot and following orders has been something this has really taught me to do. At work, when I'm told to do something, I do it. No questions asked. My job isn't like home when my mom tells me to make my bed and I decide to do it four hours later. At work I do it or possibly lose my job.

i think that everyone in the ranch jus need to sty organized and do their jobs to kepp things running smoothly.if u dont do your job as i migrant worker ull lose your job and have no money to pay for food, and keep the family going. the life living on a different ranch every other job takes away from ur home ife with ur famiy an friends.it also takes ur ability of being attached to one person. the only advance to workig on a farm is getting know many people and making mullah. a situation that i had to take orders helped me when i got in a fight and my parents always told me the smarter guy walks away and when i got in that fight i realized how much of a dick i was.

Following orders can be a big deal when working on farms. When you are a migrant worker there is normally not a lot of work available for you so following the rules is vital. If you break the rules then you are taking a chance of losing your job and there wont be a lot of options for you when that happens. This can take away from ones individuality because you are not able to be nonconformant without losing your job. You cant do what you want because rules are strict and it takes away from your personality. One example where following rules helped was in lacrosse practice because I dont have to run like most of the team does when they break rules. Rules are very important and are ment to be followed.

Following orders is important no matter where you are. It is important if you are rich and famous, or if you are poor and the common folk. This could be important while living on a ranch because if you don't do what you are told, you could lose your job. This is the same case if you are a migrant worker. This can take from one's individuality because you aren't allowed to do what helps you learn the best. One example of taking orders that helped me in a situation would be in sports. When a coach would tell you to change something that you were doing and you change it, it could help improve your game. One example where it made one question his own sense of self would be when the coach benches you. You think you can be out there but the coach wont let you.

When living on ranches and being a migrant worker you have to learn to follow orders for a few different resins. First, following orders allows people to work better as a team. Working as a team is impotent when doing the hard labor you have to do on farms. When your working on a farm you also have to flow orders so that you can stay working on the farm, if you disobey your boss you’ll be fired because they can easily get a new migrant worker. However, this style of living can take from ones individuality, it makes it so that instead of someone being an individual, you become apart of a small team doing work. On the other hand, you would lose about the same individuality by doing any job in which you have to listn to what someone tells you. From my own life I don’t have any examples of me “questioning my own sense of self”.

As a migrant worker, following directions can determine the leangth of your stay on a the ranch. If you don't work hard or follow the boss's directions, he'll cut you loose to find a new ranch. For example, George told Lennie to keep his mouth shut at their new ranch because if he said anything that seemed goofy to the boss he would tell them to leave. It was mentionned that this has happened before. However, telling Lennie to be quiet takes away from his individuality and from being himself. Instead of being the curious Lennie he always is, he'll be quiet and lethargic which may alter his work ethic. At open mic at Kozy Koffee, I always follow the owner's (John) rules and because of that he lets me do whatever I want there. He always trusts me with whatever goes on there which makes it more fun for me.
