Day 3

Today we began our discussion on chapter 2 and will continue tomorrow.

For this evening:

What is a bunkhouse? What was the bunkhouse like in the book? Describe what you think an evening in a bunkhouse full of people (men or women) would be like? How would feel about living in this type of environment for an extended period of time? Why?

A bunkhouse is a place where men that work on farms stay. The bunkhouse in the book was really nasty and not very clean. It had bugs in the mattresses, a shelf to hang your belongings, and I pictured rows of bunkbeds, like a summercamp house would look like. Also in there would be a washroom, but that's about it. I think living in a bunkhouse with a bunch of men would be living hell. I see a bunch of dirty and smelly men playing cards and just hanging out and some men are in their beds writting letters to their loved ones. All of a sudden, a hot young chick walks up and all the men go gah-gah over this girl. Then the husband of the pretty girl steps in and tells the guys to back off because that's his woman. The men start to tease the husband and all of a sudden there is a brawl. Men are kicking and yelling at eachother until the boss walks in to check on them and breaks everything up. Everyone would settle down and then get a good night's sleep for the next day. I would absolutely hate living in this type of enviornment for an extended period of time because I don't think I could stand all those rude people. They are a bunch of slobs and don't care what they say or what they do. I think I would miss my own home and my family also. Overall, I think the bunkhouses are gross.

A bunkhouse is a place where a good amount of people live and sleep at. It usually has bunk beds and a little place with tables and chairs. Bunkhouses are pretty much just a big cabin. The bunkhouse in the story isnt really the greatest place to live at. It is small and very cramped. Also they have bugs living in there so they need to have bug poison on guard. I wouldn't like to live in one of these places for more than a weekend because it is just a very uncomfortable place and there isnt much privacy for the people living there.

Bunkhouses are cabins with bunkbeds and other things inside it. Sort of a little house, kinda like a tree house type. The bunk house in the book was a decent size had a few bunks and shelves. Also it had a stove and a table in the middle with milk crates to sit on. I think an evening in a bunk house would be horse around a little play a game or to eat and go to sleep. Then ya got the occasional person who makes a ton of noise when they sleep or can't get comforidable. I would dislike liveing in a bunk house. For one there would be little to nothing to do and you could not like your bunk mates. Also ya have to go out to use the bathroom shower and sinks and to get your food. Probibly would make me feel like a slave.

A bunkhouse is a building where pmen stay when there working on farms or ranches. The bunkhouse in the book had alot of beds. Plus it had a square box like table. There is a box where the men can keep there belongings that they bring when they travel. An evening in a bunkhouse would be weird. There would be people all over the place. People would be talking about the days work. Plus some people would be getting ready to fall asleep on there bed. I would not like to live in this type of environment for an extended period of time. People would probably bug the heck out of me and I would just snap. Also other people sleep in different ways, some snore, some sleep walk. I would be creepy to have someone sleep walking around you and everyone esle when your sleeping in the middle of the night.

a bunk house is a place were migrant worker slept during a job. i think during the depression bunkhouses were filled with mostly men because girls were the ones who cooked stayed home and the men went out and got jobs to put the food o the table. id feel like shit becaus eid be away from my parents and family for a while, and then ur sleeping in a shitty place with bugs and strangers. id hate it so so much i wouldnt be able to be with my wife and children for long periods of time and she be having with a lazy hobo or something. all i kno is that that wouldnt be my typical place to sleep if i had a job, but people couldnt afford houses unless they do the jobs they had to do.

A bunk house was very common in the time of mice of men because people were always moving around and finding jobs. bunk houses are basically like summer camps with Many dorms in it and bed bunks all over. i could only imagine what it was like in those things because all the people did was work all day and im sure they didn't take showers so you could imagine the stink. now if your don't mind the stink then it would be pretty cool because i like to play cards and im sure there were lots of that. i could never live in a bunk house for long periods of time because i couldn't stand being away from my family for so long. another reason is because those people would have to be worked to death and i couldn't do that to myself. this is how i interpret the bunk house in my opinion.

A bunkhouse is a not very nice house type place where the men that are working there stay. The bunkhouse in the book seemed more like a shack to me. Just a roof with a bed and a shelf. I think at the bunkhouse filled with people would be chaotic. Most of the workers would probably be drunk or gambling maybe or smoking. I this it would be very stressful and probably has some diseases in it. I don't think i could handle it. I am not very tough and i would probably just not like my life very much. luckily i don't have to live this way and am very lucky.

A bunk house is a rough building, often with bunk beds, used for sleeping quarters, as for ranch hands, migratory workers, or campers. In the book the bunkhouse is the same thing as my definition. Its just a little shack with a lot of bunk beds, and not a whole lot of furniture. Well every summer I go to a camp up in Rose City. We have dorms that we have to stay in, I swear you can cram 15 girls in a tiny little room. It's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, Some girls have no sense of personal space. Everyone throws their crap everywhere and they don't put ANYTHING away. I only have to go through this hell for a week, but if I had to do it for months? I don't know if I could survive. I'm pretty sure it's a lot different with men though because they don't have as much stuff as girls.

A bunkhouse is a place where the migrant workers stay. The book describes the bunkhouse as very disgusting and not clean. It looked like a summer camp would. It had rows of bunkbeds, and shelfs for your belongings. An evening in the bunkhouse would probably be crowded. You would most likely get annoyed of the people your staying with and if it was that dirty, you would get tired of it. If I had to live in a bunkhouse, I wouldn't like it. I'm used to what I live in now and I wouldn't want to settle for something way worse for a period of time. I would hate sleeping in beds where bugs are. I would not like to live in a bunkhouse.

A bunkhouse is a in which there are bunk beds and not much more. In the book there are a few bug infested bed, boxes nailed to the wall as shelves and a "card table". An evening in a bunkhouse like this is probably very uncomfortable. All the people sleeping in a different way some maybe staying up later and just seems like it would be loud and hectic well into the night. I think it would be very crowded and uninviting to have to stay in a place like this, this cramped room full of people as your place of rest.

A bunkhouse is a usually smaller scale room filled with bunk beds. When I hear bunkhouse, I think of a summer camp or the dorms at communications camp. In the book, the most important part about the bunk house is that it had rodent killer in it. This scared George and Lennie. An evening in a bunk house wouldn't be terrible, there would just be a few select things that would take a tolerance such as bunk mates, people talking while your trying to sleep, unorganized people with messy living conditions, etc. These things would make it difficult to live in a bunkhouse for a long time.

A bunkhouse is a dirty miserable place that is a sad excuse for a living quarters. People used to stay in one of these when they worked on the farm. It isn't well kept up at all, and is very dirty with bugs roaming from room to room. These were in the story because many people in this book worked on the farm and everyone was competing for a job on the farm. I would not enjoy living in a bunkhouse for a long period of time for that fact that I am an extremely neat person and I would really suffer in one of these. However, I would do what I needed to do in order to keep a job. The Great Depression was hard enough as it is, why give up a job just because of the living conditions? If only people would of kept things clean. But do men really care about cleanliness anyways? Didn't think so.

A bunkhouse is a house that many workers stay in while working on a ranch. It has cheap beds that are very close to each other. Next to the beds are shelves, and the workers can put their things like shampoo, soap, and other things there. The bunkhouse in the book is juts like this; it has a bunch of beds in a wide open room with shelves next to them. I think that an evening in a bunkhouse would be interesting. At first it would be fun, but after a while i would get sick of it. It would also depend on the other people that are in the bunkhouse with me. If they were my friends it would be so much fun. If the bunkhouse was full of strangers it would be kinda scary, a little bit awkward, and boring. If i had to live in a bunkhouse for a long time i would get really bored and i would get sick of it. After a while i would start to feel dirty, even if i was allowed to take showers. Also, i would not sleep very well because the beds are probably uncomfortable. I would not like to live in a bunkhouse for more than one night.

A bunkhouse is somewhere that men stayed when they worked on farms but it wasnt an ideal place to stay. The bunkhouse in the book was very dirty and was filled with a lot of beds. The bunkhouse in the book also had a table but was very overcrowded. I think it would be very bad living conditions to live in a binkhouse because it is very dirty and there is a lot of disease that is passed around. I dont think I would like to live in one because that would mean that I had to move a lot and there wouldnt be a lot of privacy. This would be very hard to live in for a very long period of time because i wouldnt have a lot of privacy and there would be a lot of people around me constintly. This would be very hard for me because one of my pet peeves is dirty people.

A bunkhouse is a place where the migrant workers can stay and sleep and be provided with food. In the book, the bunkhouses are rooms with many bunkbeds. They aren't very nice but the workers are thankful for a place to stay. Depending on the people I was living with in the bunkhouses, I'm not sure if I would like it or not. It reminds me of summer camps, so if the bunkhouses were nice then it would probablly be nice. However if I lived in the period of the book then I wouldn't like it at all. I don't think I would be able to handle it for an extended period of time, because I am so used to all the material goods that I use everyday at home that it would be hard to adjust.

A bunkhouse is a place that workers stay. The workers are usually migrant workers that are temporarily working at a certain farm. The bunkhouse in the book is very dirty and unfriendly. I thought it would look like a camp that you would go to. An evening in a bunkhouse full of people would be crazy. You would have people having a beer having a good time. You would also have the people that drink a little too much and pick fights with others. Others would be snoring in bed trying to get some rest. I think the bunkhouse would get pretty wild sometimes. I wouldn't like to live in this environment for very long. This is because I am very neat and i don't think i could go very long with this dirty, unorganized place.

A bunkhouse is where men who work on farms live for their time being/ working there. The bunkhouse in the book was filthy and unsanitary.
a bunkhouse full of people men a d women would be insane, it would be very crowded and awakward. There isn't much persaonal space and if a bunch of people lived in it, it would probably get filthier and it woudl be packed and just not end up to well. Also a bunckhouse is for men so if women were to stay there it would not be right. I would not like it at all, i like to stay in places that are not filthy and super super crowded. It is nice to have your own space and to be able to lay in bed with out a nuch of people in there and being loud and crazy. If you were trying to get ready, that would be awakward with a bunch of people living in the same room as you. Also i like to be able to relax and not have someone in my space so that would not happen in a bunkhouse. It jusy nice to be able to be alone and enjoy some peace and quiet and that isnt real possible in a bunkhouse, if a bunk of people live in there. And it being dirty and all that would make me feel uncomfortible.

A bunkhouse is a long building where workers stay on a farm ( in this case.) In Mice and Men, the bunkhouse was infested with bugs, packed with beds and shelves above each bed. It was a very dirty place and definitely not well taken care of. I think after if everyone got to know each other then it wouldn't be such a bad place to be. After everyone got closer and got to know each other better, it could probably be a decent place besides the dirty area but I'm sure they could all become friends along the way. I would definitely hate this more than anything though! You wouldn't have any privacy and I couldn't stand living in a dirty environment. That's just disgusting.

The bunkhouses were where the people on the farms slept and lived. When I read about the bunkhouses it reminded me of Comunication Camp, but in the story it was a lot worse. In the story the mattresses were destoried and dirty. A dresser had bug posion in it to kill bugs that might be in the mattress. Living in a bunkhouse would be chaotic. There would be people everywhere, they would be very loud and obnoctious. It wouldn't be easy to sleep with all the rukus. I personally would not like to live in a bunkhouse for too long. It may be fun for a short while, but after a long time I would probley get very annoyed with all the people. Also I wouldn't like not being able to do much because im active even if I did just work on a farm.

Bunkhouses are living quarters for working men in women with bunks and other living necessities in them. Based on what i have read in Of Mice and Men, it appears that bunkhouses are compact, almost dorm like living areas full of grumpy, temperamental men (or women) who are just trying to make their money and be on their way. Fights and misunderstandings who most likely be a daily habit and it would just be down right miserable. I wouldn't like this type of living environment in any way. I would hate to constantly have to watch my back and fear the men (or women) around me. Someone once said, "find a job you like to do, and you'll never have to work a day in your life." This is the type of philosophy i am going to live by in the future. I don't want to spend my precious life, the time you only get once, being miserable.

A bunkhouse is a place where workers stay. In the book the bunkhouse was very dirty and not enjoyable. I think a night in the bunkhouse with a bunch of people would be terrible. I wouldnt be able to sleep if there were sleep talkers or snorers. When i sleep i am a very light sleeper and can wake up just from a strand of light so if people make noises in their sleep i wuld probably never be able to sleep in the bunkhouse. Living in this type of environment for an extended period of time would make me feel trapped. The one thing i need is time to myself and silence for a certain amount of time everyday. In this situation i would never be alone and with all of the other people in the bunkhouse i doubt id get any silence. I just am not cut out for the bunkhouse type of environment.

A bunkhouse is a small building that usually keep people who are visiting or even live in the bunkhouse. The bunkhouse in the book, on the other hand, is crummy, old, moldy, and even has bugs. If I ever had to stay an entire evening with a Bunkhouse full of people I think I would be very packed and be very hot and sweaty. I don't think I would be able to survive in this environment for a long time. This is because I would most likely get sick because of the horrible living conditions. Not only that but there are also other people that could get sick and get others sick. Then I would be out of work because I am no longer capable to do that Job and I would have to find another Job to keep me going.

A bunkhouse is a shack like place with rows of beds to hold migrant workers that came to the farms for work. They very in condition and the migrant workers didn’t know what kind of condition they’d be living in until they got to the farm and looked at it. I don’t think that I’d like living in a bunkhouse with a bunch of other people because of quite a few reasons. One of the resins would be how crowded it would be in a bunkhouse filled with other people. I’d also think that it could be hot when theirs so many people in a small-inclosed space. I also wouldn’t like not know how the place I’m going to live in is going to look like until I get there. Overall, I think living in a bunkhouse would be really horrible.

a bunkhouse is a place for people staying somewere but dont actualy live there. like at a summer camp or somthing like that. in the book it looks like a long plane white room with 2 small square windows. its got a line of beds with shelves next to them and verios personal goods on them. when a bunkhouse is full i amagen it would be lowd with talk of people and crowded. i would hate living in a bunck hows for a long perod of time. it would be ok for a wile then it would get anoying because after a long day of work you can have any time to relax by yourself. no privacy or your own living space to chill in other than your bed. it would suck after about 2 or 3 months.
