Loneliness is a definite concept seen while reading Of Mice and Men. Explain why you think the migrant experience could be a lonely existence. Then, choose a character that you think displays loneliness and explain why this character is, in fact, lonely. Give an example from the book that proves your point and cite the example internally in your blog. Then, discuss how or when loneliness has been a part of your life and how you handled it.
Remember to choose your book for your novel study by tomorrow on the sign-up sheet, and be prepared to discuss the remainder of Chapter 3 tomorrow.

Lonleiness is a hard thing to handle. One character in the book Of Mice and Men is Curly's wife. She seems lonley because Curly is always running around and never with his wife. His wife just looks for him all the time. She's never actually aroun him, so she flirts with other guys. As on page 31, she shows up at the boys bunkhouse and flirts with them, while looking for Curly. In my opinion, if Curly gave her more attenion she wouldn't be this way. Therefore, she is a character that displays lonleiness. In my life, I try not be lonely. I surround myself with nice, fun, loving people. The only thing missing in my life is a boyfriend, and I guess that could be the lonleiness I'm dealing with right now. All in all, lonleiness isnt perminent and you can always find a way to fix it.
In my eyes i think the migrant experience would be very lonely because you dont get to see your family and there is a chance you will never see them again. Also, you have to leave farms to find work all the time so youre always leaving people you meet and come close to. I think Curleys wife would be known as lonely because she doesnt really have much to do on the farm. Her husband also doesnt treat her very well and she is so lonely that she has to go flirt with everyone to feel better about herself. An example is one pages 31-32 curleys wife is trying to find him and tells slim she is trying to find him but then slim respons 'you arent trying very hard'. After this remark she says bye boys. I think this example is good because it shows she wants to find him but cant and that the other men dont really care that much and are mean to her too. I think she is lonely because no one really cares about her. Loneliness has been apart of my life towards the end of 8th grade when i had to quit gymnastics and my mom had just started working again. I was always alone at home because my brother was in college and both parents were working and i didnt have to go to gymnastics or anything. I handled this by going for long walks and writing about how i felt and what i saw on my walks.
One of the loneliest characters I've read about is Curley's wife. Curley never spends time with his wife and just controls her. You can tell she is lonely when all the guys talk about her and accuse her of cheating and having her eye on everyone else like on page 28. I think loneliness hits everybody several times in their life, especially now. As teens we have plenty of loneliness. I know that I'm definitely feeling it now. Drama with friends, issues with the family, stress, etc. I'm feeling from everything combined and maybe because of the stress, I'm pushing people away but I'm also trying to find who I am and maybe that's what we need in order to find ourselves. When i feel lonely, I do whatever I feel like doing at the time to cheer myself up and I spend time with my family or friends.
As a migrant worker lonlenessis a big part of the job. You stick around for a bit then leave just as fast as you arrived. Also your away from your family for a extended amount of time. Curlies wife on page 31 flirts with the guys in the house because curly doesn't pay enough attention to her. Me am an only child so i have to entertain myself alot. So ive grown used to being lonley. I do get anything i want though.
migrant experiences could be lonely because u have no family with you, ur all alone pretty much workin for a while and ur like miles upon miles away from ur loved ones.i think curlys wife experiences this because she has a husband whos never with her. hes always doing a poor job on running his dads farm. and shes just at home all the time missing him and not having him around is probly pretty lonely.when my grandpa died i felt most lonely, because he was the highlight of all my days he put the biggest smiles on my face then he just ups and passes on and i havent recovered from this at all i feel lonely all the time it horrible.
Be a migrant worker could be very lonely because your always with different people. If you move, your gonna have to meet new people and build a new relationship with them. Your never gonna be able to stay with the same people unless they come with you everytime you move. I think a lonely character is Curleys wife. She shows lonelyness a lot because shes always trying to look for attention. I think Curley doesn't give her enough attention. She goes around talking and flirting with other guys to see if they notice her. An example of Curleys wife being lonely is on page 28. This shows loneliness because she is trying to get all the boys attention and all the boys are talking bad about her. A time when i've had loneliness in my life is when my parents were getting divorced. I was young and I had no one to talk to about it because no one understood what I was going through. All my friends still had their parents together and mine weren't. So I had no ideal how to deal with it.
I believe that the migrant experience would be lonely in many ways. Most men don't travel together like George and Lennie so they have no real friends. They are alone in making their own money and spending it alone. They don't have families with them that they can go to when they get lonely. Traveling around from place to place with no family and no friends would get lonely. A character from the book that displays loneliness is Curly's wife. Now, because we already talked about her in class we all know the reasons for her loneliness. So i also believe that Lennie is lonely. He does have George to travel with, which most men don't, but no one really understands him. Lennie is different from other people; the things that make him feel comfortable make others feel uncomfortable. He is alone in that way; he does things that others don't normally do. George told Lennie not to talk to the boss so that they could get the job. He is alone in that way because he cant speak for himself. Loneliness in my life is sometimes good and sometimes bad. Its bad when i am really bored and want to do something; but sometimes i like being alone. I like to think when i am by myself, or i like to read. When i am alone i relax, but if i were to be lonely all the time i don't think i would enjoy it.
I think that the migrant experience would be lonesome because you don't have that one person that always sticks by your side. Even if you do find that person, you will eventually leave them and probally never see them again. Also, your family that you love is back home and you have little communication with them. I know that I could never feel complete without my family in my life. A prime example of this is on page 28 when it talks about Curley's wife flirting with other men. It shows that she is lonely because she clearly isn't getting enough attention from her own husband so she needs to go get other guys to get attention. I felt very lonely when my grandpa died back in 2006. He died on my birthday so my whole day was a wreck and people tried to comfort me, but no one actually knew what the full effect on me was and so it felt like they couldn't give me advice because they weren't in my shoes. As the days went on I kept on praying for better days and I eventually became less lonely.
A migrant worker is always on the move and can become very lonely. RIght when they are getting close to people they have to pack up and move because the work is gone. An example from this book that shows someone who is lonely is curleys wife. Her husband doesn't pay very much attention to her because he has to work and she becomes very lonely. On page 31, she comes to the bunkhouse and starts flirting with the boys because her husband doesn't pay much attention to her. Curley always is looking for her becaus she is always trying to find something to entertain herself by being the only woman on the farm. Loneliness becomes a part of everyones life sometime and it is unavoidable no matter how many people are around you, people can still feel lonely in times of struggle.
The migrant experience could indeed be a lonely experience because as mentioned in the book, besides Lennie and George, not many men travel together. Then when you get canned or leave a ranch and head to a new one, you have to meet new people once again. The lonliest character in this book is Candy. I feel bad for Candy because of his arm and because he has no one in his life. It was a sad moment when the men shot his dog because he loved it so much and that was all he had. He even says to George and Lennie when talking to them about they're big dream, "When they can me here, I'll have no where to go. I got no family". And they'll can him soon because the older he gets the more useless him and his one arm are. I remember being lonely when I played basketball in middle school. I was very intimidate by the coach and it was very hard to overcome but just by picking myself back up I got through it.
beeing a migrant worker has to be extremely lonely. your always travoling, many times alone. you never stay in one place and always have to leave the people you met behind. curllys wife seems very lonely to me. she is the only woman on the farm. she dosint have much to do on the farm and dosint seem to enjoy curlys company much. it seems like she dosint like him that much because shees always going out of the house and giving excuses to talk to the other guys. this is shown on page 28. sometimes i get prety lonely cus my parents wont let me sleep over places so i cant stay over at peoples hosue when other people are and end up sitting at home. and other things like that.
A migrant worker could be a lonely life because you travel so much. When ever you meet a new person you may leave later. If you don't then the other person might. George and Lennie aren't like normal migrant workers, they move together. George is partally lonely, even though he has Lennie, he doesn't get to have a person he really cares about. In the first few chapters he said that he wanted to be able to find a wife and have his own land. Over the summer I felt a little lonely because I was home alone a lot. I over came it when I would go to my friends houses. Also I would have baseball and have fun there with everyone.
I think lonliness would be experienced as a migrant worker. They travel from place to place, all alone. They usually have no family and maybe temporary friends, but no one that really sticks with them. Although George has Lennie, i think he is a lonely man. He doesnt get to live his life the way he would probably want to. He doesnt exactly have a family and lives to take care of Lennie. He even tells Lennie this, saying he could have a real life if it wasnt for him. Lonliness doesnt play a huge part in my life, but ive learned to cope with it when it is. I find things that comfort me to not feel so alone.
Loneliness is is one of the bigger themes in the book and shows up a lot. A character that shows this the most in my opinion is Curleys wife. It it understandable because she is the only ifrl in a ranch full of guys and is therefor forces to flirt with most of the guys there. On page 32 it shoes her doing this because she is lonely. She doesnt have anyone to connect to because there is a bunch of guys and there isnt any girls on the farm she could share common ground with. It doesnt give her an oportunity for someone to understand. I also think being a migrant worker would be very lonely because you are constintly moving and you cant keep any real friends. Loneliness comes into my life because sports consume my life and I dont have a lot of time to hang out with friends. I dont really want to do anything about it though becuase I love sports.
Migrant experience would be a lonely time. This is because your not in a soild place for a long time. This means your not going to have alot of friends that you travel with. Your not going to keep in touch with the people you work with. An example in the book of someone that is lonely is Curly's wife. Curly is never around he never hangs with his wife. So she is just going around talking with the farm hands to get some interaction and social statics. Loneliness in my life is when I stopped being friends with one of my BFF! I just tried to thing of things to do to fill the hole in me. I tried to talk to other people. That helped with the loneliness. I think that loneliness can sometimes be a good thing. When I stopped talking and hanging with my BFF I was more inclined to hang with my other friends. Plus I made new friends in the process.
Migrant workers are extremely lonely people because most travel alone, and almost never stay in one place long enough to make long term friends. Many migrant workers want to settle down, but can never make enough money to successfully get land. One of the loneliest characters in the book is Curly’s wife. This is because Curly never pays attention to her. You can tell that she’s lonely because of the way she always tries to talk to the other men (oh ya, and near the end when she said how lonely she is). That’s the mane reasons why I think she’s one of the loneliest characters. I cant think of a time in my life time in which loneliness has been apart of me.
