Day 2
For this evening, please do a current event. This may not be sports or entertainment unless you can attach it to something that is current in society or impacts society. Remember that this is not just a summary of an event but you must discuss why you chose it and how it impacts you, your community, or your society. NO CITE, NO POINTS AND THE CITE MUST BE IN THE ORIGINAL BLOG.

Four months after an auto accident and reports of extramarital affairs put his golf career on hold, Tiger Woods announced Tuesday that he plans to return to the sport at the Masters Tournament in April. I personally think that this is a horrible choice and it will impact society greatly. Basically Tiger is saying that you can make whatever mistakes you want in life but you can always come back to them, which is not true. He should pay the consequences of doing so many wrong-doings by just staying out of golf for the rest of his life. Most of his endorsements are gone so it's not like he will be making much money if he continues. Kids in our society will become to learn that it's okay to do bad things like cheat on your wife and still be in the same place when you come back from rehab or whatever but it won't be. Tiger will have to struggle the rest of his life just so people will maybe respect his name again. Overall, I think that Tiger coming back into the world of golf is a huge mistake and kids of our generation will see that it's okay to be a screw up like him.

The current event that I chose is called, "House Democrats defend plan to pass health care." Democrats defended plans to push massive health care legislation through the House without a direct vote and Republicans assailed the strategy Tuesday, as both parties fenced ferociously over the health overhaul end game. I personally believe that the health care bill shouldn't pass. This ties into my life because if you had an 8 y/o with a broken arm, a 25 y/o woman with breast cancer, a 61 y/o person with Diarrhea, and a 84 y/o with lower respiratory infections. Who would doctors help? Under the health care plan, doctors would help the 8 y/o and the 25 y/o. If the bill is passed then alot of people will be in trouble. If I were a part of Congress, I would go against the bill. How would you go with the bill? Would you be for the passing or be against the passing of the bill?

Ex-teacher arrested in Chile; child sex abuse in Spain alleged. Back in 2009 a teacher was arrested for having film of abused and sexually abused boys. Plus he had also placed hidden cameras in the gym locker rooms. (He was a physical education teacher)NOW is when they talk about it and let more information show on the subject. This current event happens all over the world. Some people that are realitves or REALLY close friends have this problem. When I think about this happening to other kids I think about what if this happened to me. That would be a very scary and weird occuring. These kind of occurences NEED to be stopped! People want to be safe in there schools. If there are hidden cameras in places that should not be then people WILL NOT feel safe at all.

My article I chose is about pepsi cutting the sugary drinks from school. They hope to have this in effect in two years and it will be the first company to do this everyhwete in the U.S. This isn't in effect all over the world but they hope it will be. Coca-cola is following by not serving it in primary schools unless the parents ask for it. This action is being taken because they are trying to fight chilhood obesity. I actually love this idea but I bet there will be a lot of angry kids because there are some kids out there that get one or two pops a day. I don't drink pop ver much myself but I will admit that when I have money for the drink machine, I go for the pop machine rather than the water or juice machine. It would make it easier for me to choose if I don't have the option of pop. I don't think people realize how much affect drinks can have on your weight and although people may not like it, it is the right step towards a healthier America an world.

There is a report about sexual abuse towards boys in a school in Chile. A gym teacher was caught placing cameras and stuff in the locker room where all of the kids change at. He also was caught sexually abusing a few of the kids as well. This happened last year but it is bringing back up to the present day because of his punishment is being dolled out and people are learning everything that really happened in that gym class. I think that this effects the whole world because of the fact that there are people out there who are doing sick things to kids and it is hard to stop. This could ruin a kid for life by getting sexually abused and he has ruined also some families for this sick act. If it were me I would be really pissed to find out that there is some creep who is videoing kids changing.

This new year has resulted many unexpected and unwanted foreclosures. It has really taken a toll on our whole economy and people are seriously worrying. This effects my life because many of the people in me neighborhood are getting their homes taken away, and it's quite frightening. It seems like people are just kicked out and left on the side of the road. It's just hard for people to keep up with payments these days because of our failing economy. If the government doesn't help us out more, who knows what will happen. It doesn't seem right that people just get all they've ever known taken away. Seems like they should get some financial help. I don't know how to fix this problem but I just hope things will turn out okay for everyone. Foreclosure is a nasty thing to think about.

Tiger Woods announced today that he plans to return to the sport at the Masters Tournament in April. Woods has recently apologized publicly for cheating on his wife. He then took a break from the game and finished his issues at home. I think Tiger has a right to come back to something he loves doing. Everyone knows cheating on your wife is a bad thing and thats their life. Tiger should be able to come back to the game of golf and play just like nothing has happened. Since he's a celebrity and so many people know him, it makes a bigger deal that he cheated on his wife. If he was one of us, yeah cheating would still be bad, but it wouldn't be all over the news. So Tiger should still be able to play golf because it's something he's very good at and he loves doing. He might not have as much fun doing it and he probably won't have as much respect but it's his choice. People should let them do what they want and live their own lives without people intruding.

China is one of the fastest growing (population) nations on earth and with so many people there is a bigger appetite. Sushi not native to the china, but to japan, has snuck its way into the Chinese diet. Tuna is not an unlimited or re-usable source so there is a problem. the problem is there is not enough tuna to last forever so it could wipe out the species. this could effect the world due to the face it is making a species extinct and we try to prevent this. this could effect me because in the future when i eat fish it might be a rare delicacy because it is rare to find some. this is my opinion on the fish crisis that could end certain species of fish.

In Spain, a teacher from a Roman Catholic religious order's school, was arrested in Chile for suspisions of sexually abusing children. He possessed videos of the abuse and pictures of sexually abused boys. It is said that he was a physical education teacher and placed hidden cameras in the gyms and bathrooms. This is frightening for everyone all children at schools including parents of the schools. Based on people's perceptions, a teacher at a Catholic school would be the last person to do this to young children. This just shows the kind of sick people there are in the world.

Wonderstruck Studios plans on locating at Ford Field. I am rather exited for this operation because i am really interested in perusing a career in the visual imaging business and with Wonderstruck Stuidios locating here it will garentee 413 peermanint jobs, which will help with unemployment rates. Thos event impacts me because I would really like to get into photography and this will be great because with more job openings and it is in teh area of business i would like to be a part of. There are not that many digital imaging and animation studios here and it is really cool that there is another one being built and the jobs it will bring with it, will really help.

Six hundred feet below the antarctic ice where no light can be found nasa's scientists made a startling discovery a swimming shrimp like creature that could challenge the idea of where and how forms of life can survive. A nasa team had lowered a small video camera to get the first ever photograph of the underside of an ice shelf and thats when they saw the swimming creature. The creature was a Lyssianasid amphipod this could lead the way for larger expeditions into harsher environments that scientists previously believed could not support life both on the earth and even frozen moons in outer space. I find this very intresting in many ways. For one i now know life can survive pritty much anywhere and not need light. This opens up alot of new doors for people. This means life can be anywhere.

FBI making false facebook pages to find criminals. They talk to people as if they are regular friends but really are looking for alibies as well as dates and times suspects were online. This helps link evidence to quarrals with a friend which could have given the suspect a reason to target the crime. Even robbery and burglary suspects can be linked by posts of whereabouts. I don't like this idea. I beleive this is an invasion of privacy, especially for innocent users of social networking sites to have their heads toyed with. I also beleive it to be a bad idea that articles are being posted about it. This is just letting suspects know what the feds are up to. Secret agents are no longer so secret.

Lesley Enriquez went to a birthday party and brought her husband and baby daughter along. After the food and cake and singing and children's games were done, the family piled into the car and headed home, but they never made it.For unknown reasons, the gang followed the family car through the streets and riddled it with bullets, authorities said. Recently the drug gangs in Mexico have been getting out of control, and its been affecting eveyone. People cant travel and vacation to Mexico without being worried about their well being which at the same time is hurting Mexicos economy if people are too afraid to travek there. Innocent people are getting hurt and killed. It is deffinately hitting tehm and their families hard and needs to stop.

Doctors came together for some suprising research that revealed something important about diabetics. Doctors discovered in 3 different studies that most of the widely perscribed drugs dont even make improvemet. This is important because I think that America has relied to much on drugs. When people get perscribed a drug for a problem it is very likely that they get hooked on it and quit taking it even though they are cured. Many people get busted for faking problems just so they can get the drug to either take or sell. Drugs are a very big problem in society today because it tears apart families and it takes away money from families so they cant put money into the economy. The main goal was to make blood pressure lower but over 50 percent of the people didnt show improvent and the people who did didnt show that big of an impovement. Many other things can be done like eating right and exercising so heavy drug use is not necessary. Drugs will just make problems and wont solve anything.
The fall of the housing company is n event that affects the economy. In February the amount of housing construction fell because blizzards held down activity. The construction of new homes and apartments fell 5.9% during this time. This just adds to the challenges of the U.S. getting out of the housing slump. This impacts the economy greatly. If there is no more building of houses then adults that are starting off won't be able to find new houses or apartments as easily. Also this adds to the stress that is already on the real estate business. If we aren't able to build houses then we cant sell them, and then no money is being made.

For many years Google has always been the number one website. It is used for many things from looking up things from the past to the things of today. Our serch engine has always been the number one website to go to since it can be used for so many different things. This week we found that our number one website is now facebook. Facebook is a website where you can talk to your friends and search other people. This is mainly the reason people have so much fun going on it. A website of so little going on can really compete with a website like google that can practically do anything? Apparently this is true finding that it is the new number one website. What does this say about our society? We would rather go to a website to interact with others than go to a website that can do anything. Our society obviously cares more about social interaction than anything else. BY this website being the new number one it just shows that our number one priority in society in not to be social out casts and to always be interacting with others.

Today, Detroit Pubic Schools Financial Manager announced a plan to close 44 schools and one administration building. Due to decreasing administration rates of students over the past years. Rates are estimated to keep decreasing through years 2012 and 2014. The Detroit Public Schools believe that demolishing and diminishing some unneeded space in some Detroit Public Schools will be best. The estimated cost to this project is about $1 billion.
While some may say that this is a good, smart idea that could lower costs and benefit the district, i say different. What if these estimated numbers are wrong? are we going to diminish the amount of space in our schools with only chance? And if we want the Michigan economy to come out of the black and start to come around again then wouldn't decreasing the number of schools do exactly the opposite of that? Wouldn't that contradict everything and instead of attracting people it will only make people NOT want to move to Michigan even more?? WHAT ARE WE DOING? Yeah maybe im just being dumb and i dont see the whole picture but i mean really? Is this really what we want to do? Another thing is wont this affect our students? Now that student enrollment is lower, some students may not get into these schools and have to carry the burden of relocating to different areas or homeschooling. Which again, could affect that area because not only will people want to move where schooling is offered but they would like to take their chances with a school that might not kick them out for running out of room.
I guess we will just have to see how this plays out in the years to come. In my opinion, the City of Detroit is just further dooming themselves.
