Please respond the the following:
"When we blindly adopt a religion, a political system, a literary dogma, we become automatons. We cease to grow."
Anais Nin
This may take somethinking or talking with parents, friends, etc. If you do not know what dogma means, look it up.

I think this means that we usually do exactly what are parents due. When we are born we become whatever religion our parents are without a choice of choosing one for ourself. If you parents vote democrat and talk about democrat than most likely you will end up supporting democrats. Also we talk the way our friends and family do. All of this is because of the family we are born into. If there was a way for everyone to search and find out what religion to be, not everybody would just do what their parents do. This is however not the case and the world will always be the same with kids following what their parents have done.

To me, the quote by Anais Nin meant that a person who bases their religion and political views on something without getting a full analisis of it, is not wise. Someone who uses their perceptions to decide what they believe in and who they are going to vote for in the next election is never going to fully understand their religion or political standpoint. Someone who does this is simply judging a religion or political view by the things they already know about it. According to Anais Nin, "We cease to grow.", meaning we put up a wall that prevents us to learn more about the things we believe it. We just assume that what we know about the religion or political system is what it is. And we stop ourselves from learning that their is so much more we can use to make ourselves more wise. And suddenly we become "automatons" or robots in society.
I think that this statement is saying that we basically use religion, a political system, and/or a literary dogma, as an out. Personally, I believe that religion and politics are ways to control the masses. Not everyone fully understands what they believe in and they just use these means to "belong" to something. We are so used to just agreeing with a certain side that we are "blind" to what really hides behind the religion and/or political veil. I think that our mindset is that if we don't belong to a certain political group, or certain religion that we are lost. If we don't believe in something, we are automatically "weird". People have a sense of loneliness if they aren't in a certain controller. I think that we really don't fully understand what our views are, until we fully understand ourselves. Quite frankly, I don't believe that it's possible to ever fully understand yourself.
The line, "...We cease to grow." sums up the whole meaning of this quote. If we just go on through life not fully understanding what we believe in and just going with the masses then we never learn to think for ourselves. We just go on through life pretending that we know what we believe in, when in actuality there is so much more we will never be able to comprehend unless we start thinking for ourselves.
I strongly baleave in this quot, and feel the same way. If we just accept something your not thinking at all. your just baleaving or doing what the person or organization baleaves. its not you whos making the choices about your life its them. at least in that area. like it ses we can become robots who cant think for are selfs. and i think we also cease to grow. if your not making your choices somebody els is your not thinking for yourself and not learning anything. for example i grew up as a catholic cus my mom is. we go to church and stuff but i dont even baleave in it fully. lots of it dosint seam right so i wont just be forced into a religion. it could be true but it might not be. im not gana just blindly accept it. the way i see it all the other religions are just as likely so i dont no what to baleave.
This quote means that if we automatically follow what our parents, teachers, friends, etc, follow then we cease to grow into our own person. We lose our individuality. And sadly, in society today, if do show our selves as being individual and not following the crowd then we are marked as weird. In reality, we're not! We're being individuals and who we choose to be. If we pick the same religion, political view, etc, then we're thinking for ourselves and we become more sheltered. We don't see or understand what is occurring in the world and we don't learn.
Once somebody Blindly adopts a religion they have given up there individuality. Once somebody blindly adopts a Political system they lose their political opinion on the world. these two Perceptions can mold a persons beliefs and there character. When she says "we cease to grow" in my opinions i think she means we stop growing as a human. By this i mean we base ourselves off of how other people think and work. doing so we lose the ability to grow internally and become an individual. this is what i think this quote means and how i interpret it.
I think this passage means that we may not know much about a religion we choose but follow it because it is what you grew up with or our parents chose for us. You can't just go along with any religion, you have to believe in it and know that you want to live your life that way. Your voice may be empty if you don't know what it's about. There are alot of things that our parents choose for us but this shouldn't be one of them. You also may be a follower and go with what our friends do and agree with their opinions on things. Your life can be so much fuller if you make it and know what's going on with it. My mom always tells me to be a leader, not a follower but sometimes it's so much easier to agree with everyone else rather than coming up with your own views and beliefs.

To me, this means that when you start to be around certain people who all have the same views, you too will adopt these views. You stop believing and thinking what you used to think because everyone else has you brain washed, or kind of like a mini cult. We accept it "blindly" because you are around these people for a long time and hear what they say and you may not know that you are starting to follow them but you are. When we "cease to grow" it means that we no longer think for ourselves because you think that what you now believe is what you have always believed, but you haven't. For example, my friend had a boyfriend and she had him practically whipped, he would supply her every demand. I don't think it's because he truly loved her I think he did it because he was just so used to it. All in all, we should always stick to what we believe in and try not to get sucked up by what others say and do.
I think this means that we do the things that are taught around us. If our parents are a certain religion, we are most likely going to be that same religion. This happens because we grow up by them. While we are little we are taught things that stay with us the rest of our lives. Our Political views are often the same as our parents because they influence us mostly. We don't know it at the time but we are adopting that view as our own. People are often influenced by different things around them, and that's what i think that quote means.
I think this quote by Anais Nin means that everyone is a follower. All people do what everyone else does because its what their used too. We inherit the same values and beliefs as our parents because we think that is whats right. Everyones opinion is usually based off their parents in religious and political beliefs. We accept these things because its what we are around all the time. Its what were used to doing every single day. If we just go on doing everything our parents do just because its how we grew up, then were never gonna have a mind of our own.
I think that we follow what our parents do and follow it. When were born we follow our parents religion. We do not really know anything about other religions. If your parents support one thing and do not support other things your more likely to be the same way. We sometimes do not think for ourselfs. We just follow the flow of our parents. When we follow what our parents follow or do we do not branch out and follow our own thing.
I think the quote by Anais Nin means that we accept customs, and we grow used to them without changing. When our parents, for instance, choose our religion for us, we are basically forced to follow in those principles and just accept it. Unless we realize later in life that its not what we believe in, we will not change. We will not grow as an individual. The same thing goes with politics. We believe what we were raised to belive in. Or in other words, we blindly adopt them.
This means when we change our way to someone elses we lose our selfs. We cease to grow as individuals and people. This makes us become automatons. As we adopt a different religion we lose our beliefs. We lose what we stand for when we adopt a different political system. A lose of literary dogma would be loseing how we speak. All of these things change our personality. This over all changes us and sometimes it is for a worse.
I think that this statement goes to show how a person may take sides without knowing exactly why. Just looking to belong somewhere, stand for something. When in reality, they will fall for anything. We are not leaders, we are followers. If this continues then we will live meaningless lives and live in a meaningless world. Living with no purpose, thinking one is always there. Believe what you desire, not what others decide for you. Life is about making your own choices. So go ahead and make your own decisions, even if it means making your own mistakes.
I think this quote is 100% true. What she is trying to get across is the point that we naturally inherit what religion we go into from our parents. We may not believe in the same thing as them but we are forced to. This is also true with political systems. If you grow up with everyone around you believing in what the republicans say, youre going to believe in the republicans. This is vise-versa. When she says, "We cease to grow." shes trying to say that we can't learn more things because we are constantly getting told the same things.
In my opinion this quote is expose the constant acts of conformity carried out everyday. Many people in society agree to political ideals, religious ideology, etc. not because it is what they believe is the right path to follow but because someone else is. Most of society will not think with their own opinions and beliefs because they want to fit in. People want to be accepted into society so we will willingly adopt principles that will get us there. Slowly, with the conformation of society, individuals lose themselves. No longer do we each stand for our freedom of choice and expression, we become robots. We lose ourselves to the popular beliefs and soon fade into the background.
