Day 8

Make sure you have begun studying for the vocab quiz on Friday.

For this evening, look at "The Crucible" anticipation/reaction guide that we did today in class. Pick any 2 of the 10 statements and explain why you answered the way that you did. Also, how do the statements you picked effect the way that people act within society?

If you were absent, check out the following website to get the sheet so you can do the blog:http://www.mrjeffrey.com/English%20III%20P/The%20Crucible/Anticipation%20Guide.doc

"It is more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you hve hurt doesn't forgive you." That is the first statement that I choose. I choose thid because I hurt my mom plenty of times and most of them she forgave me. So I just blew it off. The next time I hurt her she would not speak to me. She wanted nothing todo with me. So I said sorry, thinking that she will forgive me again. When I asked her to forgive me she would not. At that moment I feel really low. I could not forgive myself because I hurt someone that I love with all my heart. So I would have to agree with this statement. The second statment that I choose was "That which doesn't destroy us only makes us stronger." I choose this statement for two reasons. The first reason why I choose it is because Kanye West says it in his song "Stronger". The real reason why I choose this statement is because my mom had a heart attack. I beleive that it made her a stronger person. Another example is when my aunt lost her daughter, when she was three days old. She became a stronger person and I think that her and my mom are the srtongest people that I know. I saw how they handled it. I know that if that was me then I could not have done it better.

"There is only one correct way to interpret the Bible." This is the first statement that I chose because I think it is a good statement. I disagreed with that statement because I think the Bible was made for different interpretations. Nobody is perfect and I think this was a way of showing it. Nobody's interpretations are right about the Bible because we weren't there. People can choose to believe what they want because it makes them who they are. "A person is innocent until proven guilty." I chose this statement because I believe this statement for sure. It also deals with the Salem Witch Hunt because people were innocent and still killed. This statement is true because if no evidence presented on someone they can't be guilty. Just accusing someone of something isn't good enough. I think you have to prove that they are guilty. This is why I like the court system the way it is and this is why there is a constitutional amendment for it. Society is effected by these statements in a miniscule way. People really don't talk about the Bible to each other but they think about it. The second statement effects everybody. It could potentially determine someone's life if they are up for a bad crime.

One statement that i chose was is innocent until proven guilty. I think that this isnt true. I say that because if a person committed murder, and there is significant evidence of it, then that person is guilty even before the court orders them guilty. But i also think that a person that really is innocent, should stay innocent even up till their ruling. Basically, i think it depends on the case. The second statement i chose was confessing to a crime you didn’t commit in order to avoid punishment. I would confess to a crime that i didnt do. I say this because i would rather avoid some consequence instead of telling the truth and maybe die. For example, in the holocaust, i would have said i was german instead of polish if i could get away with it. Why would i want to die, when i could live.

The first statemewnt that i chose is The difference between right and wrong is clear The difference between right and wrong is clear. I chose this tpo be true because i think that you know whats right and wuts wrong. When you have to choose between which one to do that is the hard part. You do know whats right and wrong and you have a choice on what you want to do. The second statement i have chosen is It’s more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesn’t forgive you. I also said this was true because to me if the person that you hurt can not forgive you then you can treally forgive yourself. Well you could but it is hard. I woulod still feel bad bout whatever i did if the person would not forgive me. THis effects the way pwoplw act in society by like the way they treat eachother.

The two statements that i feel best about are numbers five and eight. In number five it states, "That which doesn’t destroy us only makes us stronger." I put a plus sign because this relly is a true thing, once something harms us we are ready for whtever comes up next. In number eight it states that "A person is innocent until proven guilty." This means that you cannot be jailed or treated unfairly until there is solid proof against you. Which i think is a great thing because without that system there would be anarcey.

"There is only one way to interpret the Bible." I thought this statement to be untrue. I think people can interpret the bible in many different ways, as with any other writing. No one's interpretations are right or wrong, it is just your take on the passage. I don't think the Bible was written so every person got the same meaning out of it. Another passage is, "That which doesn't destroy us only makes us stronger." I think this is a good quote to live by. Every occurrence in your life is meant to be learned from, whether good or bad. When you have experienced a bad situation you can learn from the experience and grow from it. You shouldn't feel defeated by a frustrating occurrence. You should just get back up and learn from your mistakes because you are always going to make mistakes. If you don't learn from your mistakes, you are bound to repeat them. This is true for our economy crisis right now. We have to deal with the problem now, but if it occurs again in later years we will know how to handle it.

The first statement i pick is #5. "There is only one correct way to interpret the Bible." I disagreed with this statement. I think the bible can be interpreted in many ways. There are so many people that have differnet views on everything so there can't be only one way to think about something. This effects people cuz i may think the bible is saying kill your best friend but you may think it is saying help others in need. The second statment i picked was #2. "The difference between right and wrong is clear." I disagreed wtih this statement too. There always is a time in your life where you know you should do the right thing but you deside to do the opposite. Like when you find 100 dollers on the ground. You know you should try to find the owner but you just take the money instead of doing the right thing. But before you take the money there is that brief moment where your like, should i really do this. That moment is trying to diside right from wrong.
This effects people because you may not always pick the right thing. In doing that you could be hurting someone else.

The first of my coices is, that right and wrong is clear. I think that there is a clear line between the two. I think that the lineis served by your concinse. For example, when you are about to do something i think that i hear, dont do it, or do it in my head. Secondly, i picked that the one ab out interpreting the bible. I think that there is no right way to interpret the bible. The bible is atool at life. And people choose to use it whatever way they choose. I think that that is the significance of religion, something to get you through life safely. it also may be a way to make your life everything it could be.

The statement i chose is confessing to a crime you didnt commit in oder to avoid punishment is wise. I disagree with this statement. If your innocent you shouldnt plead guilty to something you didnt do. i think this effects society because many people pleade guilty to get the court done and over with. Many innocent people right now are in jail because they pleaded guilty on something they didnt do. THe second statement i chose is that what doesnt destory us only makes us stronger. i agree with this statement. We go through alot of different things and we learn through are mistakes good and bad. So what doesnt kill us or harm us we will take in and become stronger from them. I dont really no what effect this has on society.

One of the statements that I chose is #7. "Courage means to do something even though it can be difficult and fearsome." I think this is a great quote to explain our soldiers fighting overseas right now. If it weren't for those courageous men and women fighting for our freedom, who knows what would happen to our country. Many of the things that we do in our daily life are probably somewhat courageous. For example, getting up in the morning to go to school. It's very difficult for me to get up in the morning but I know I have to do it. The other quote that I chose was #4. "There is only one correct way to interpret the Bible." I chose this because I disagree with it. First of all, there isn't really a correct way to read something. I believe that there are many different ways that someone could explain the Bible. Not everyone has the same thoughts which means that everyone views certain things different than others. In class we read the book Into the Wild and everyone had different views on Chris. This shows that the Bible can be interpreted in many ways.

The first statement that I chose was "A person is innocent until proven guilty." I chose this because I agree with this statement for sure. I agree with this quote because you can’t prove someone guilty until you have true evidence that that person is really guilty. So, therefore, that person is innocent until someone proves them otherwise. Just accusing a person of being guilty isn’t good enough. You have to present information proving them guilty. The second quote that I chose was "It’s more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesn’t forgive you." I chose this quote because I also agree with it. The reason is because it is very easy to just forget about what you did, if that person forgives you right away. But, if that person that you hurt, doesn’t talk to you anymore, and doesn’t forgive you, then it’s that much harder to forgive yourself. Also you are stuck with that feeling of guilt for what you did, also making it harder to forgive yourself.

Mr.Kay,
"The diffrence between right and wrong is clear." I don't find this statemant to be true. One of my reasons for this is, we never know what the result of anything will be. For example if you were allowed to stay home from school one day. Well for one that would be pretty awsome, but on the other end you would have catching up to do the next. I think that we should make desicions on things that seem resonible instead if living for the moment and not thinking about your future. The other statement that I chose was, " There is only one way to iinterpret the bible." I think that this is very wrong. My reason for this is that everybody thinks diffrently. We all have our own opinions on things, and when It comes to religion we all think we konw the right way on how to do it and what to believe.

Mr. Kay,

The first statement that I choose was "It is more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesn't forgive you". I think that this statement is very true in many ways. I would personally have a really hard time forgiving myself if the person that I have hurt doesn't forgive me. Even if it was a really stupid mistake that they didn't forgive me for, I still think that it would be really hard to fully forgive myself. The second statement I choose was "Confessing to a crime you didn't do in order to avoid punishment". I would not confess to a crime I didn't do, even if it ment me getting into trouble. Why should I have to be punished for something that I didn't do. I would rather get punished than commit to a crime that I didn't have anything to do with.I don't agree with this statement at all. Unless it was a life or death cituation.

I picked the difference between right and wrong. There isnt always a clear line of what to do and what not to.Sure we always have the hard set of rules to live orderly but what if there is something that calls for durastic measures. So i disagree.People will act orderly but if chaos struck like in the black out in NY people looted and commited crime. Also i picked confessing to a crime you didnt commit to avoid punishment is wise.I disagree because then they wont catch the real person. You also make a fool of yourself. In society people will confess to save themselves by lowering the punishment if convicted anyways. In doing so the the real person stays at large free of punishment for his wrongful actions.

I choose that which dosent destroy us only makes us stronger. And I picked a person is innocent until proven guilty. I agreed with both of these statements. For the first one I think its true becuase lots of things can impact us but we can learn and adapt from them. For the second one I think its true becuase how can someone be guilty of something they didnt do. We can accuse someone of being guilty and they could have no realtion to the crime at all which is unfair. We can also put them to a fair trail and use evidence to prove if they are guilty or innocent.

For "Beliefs in opposition to common values should be illegal." I greatly disagreed. We are human beings, we make mistakes, and we are self-righteous creatures. It take great logic to overturn a common view. We NEED opposition, we need to listen to every word of it because opposition by definition points out the 'mistakes' the common view has made. Take Einstein, his theory of relativity wasn't accepted at first. In fact, they called him a froot-loop for that!(Well actually he was a froot-loop before in a state of mind but that's not the point). It was later a star's true location(not were it appeared to be) proved his theory.

"the difference between right and wrong is clear". I felt indifferent at first but then realize that I was more disagreeing than agreeing. such a statement is only true if the motives are judged "just" and "unjust". However, good and evil is relative. Screw it, I'm using Wow again, I don't care if I'm going to get flooded with questions like 6th hour, it's the PERFECT example. So basically, Alliance and Horde are skirmishing;(unbelievably a real word) NOT ALL OUT WAR. They are just fighting for political reasons, resources, "Hey I was here first" "pfft! too bad, screw you!". Over all the bad-guy looking Horde isn't evil, they are trying to survive. The good-guy looking alliance isn't good, they are also trying to survive. What I'm saying is, there is no good. There is no evil. There is only 2 contradicting beliefs, fighting for dominance.

"It is better to die for what you believe in rather than to lie to save your life." I agreed with this statement because it is what I would do. If I lived in an area where it was illegal to follow God, I would still follow him. I would die for him, because Jesus died for me. Also, if you lie to save yourself, you could end up killing someone else in the process. In the witch trials, people would blame each other time after time again to save themselves. You get an innocent person, or mulitple people, blamed for your beliefs and in this time time period, the price was death. The second quote I chose was, "Beliefs in opposition to common values should be illegal." I disagreed with this statement, because it goes against the natural freedom we all deserve. Just because you have different ideas and what to do something different than someone else doesn't mean that you should be taken to court. Plus, if people in society weren't allowed to think freely, there will always be many who become fed up with living the way others believe they should think. Everyone is different, which means that not everyone has the same beliefs on everything and not everyone does things the same way.

I disagreed with "The difference between right and wrong is clear." because it honestly is not always clear. This is because you may have a hard choice that can affect two peoples lives differently. That's why we have reason without a doubt in court cases. If it is questionable and the jury is not completely sure, they could ruin someone's life, or set a guilty man free. Either way the decision is hard and there may be no clear right or wrong. I agreed with "That which doesn’t destroy us only makes us stronger." because if you don't completely break from a bad situation to the point of no return, the little stuff won't bother you as much. This also effects society because that is how people learn and get stronger. If people didn't get stronger from their mistakes, people would be weak and society wouldn't progress.

Also if you made it thruogh something that was hard then you are more prepared to do other things. The other qoute that chose is, Courage means to do something even though it can be difficult and fearsome. I agree with this qoute. to do something that was hard and took some skill is very couragous. If you do domething that you find it difficult to do, but do it. You are being very couragous.

"Its more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesnt forgive you." I believe this is true, when you arent forgivin, theres just this empty feeling in your stomach. When ive done wrong to someone and they dont forgive me, I feel insecure because I havent made amends with that person. "That which doesnt destroy us only makes us stronger." I agree with this is statement because I can relate to it. Ive moved from europe to pennsylvania and back to michigan not too long ago. I made great friendships with everyone I have met. I was so fond of my past residences that when I left, it was like moving from a place ive spent my whole life in. Since all this I now really cherish my friendships because in a blink of an eye your whole life could change.

I disagree (-) with the statement, "beliefs in opposition to common values should be illegal." I disagree with this because we as Americans have certain rights guaranteed to us in the Constitution. One of these values is freedom of speech. If someone doesn't believe things are being done right, and as long as they express these disagreements with violence, they should be able to say what they want and think what they want. Secondly, i agree (+) with the statement that, "everyone is innocent until proven guilty." This is becasue no one whould be accused of doing something unless there is proof (somekind of evidence) that supports the accusation. This, again, is also in the Constitution, and I think this principle provides protection for innocent people who are just going on with their normal lives.

"It is better to die for what you believe in rather than to lie to save your life". this quote i really agree with. the reason that i agree with this is because, to die for what you believe in is like being a soldier. it makes you brave and you might even be remembered for what you did. i think that a lot of the people in society do this actually, look at our troops they are dieing for what they believe in every day."A person is innocent until proven guilty". this is another quote that i agree with. the reason that i agree with this is because is it what our court system has instilled in us. everybody has that they have a right to a fair trial and that even if they are guilty they might still have a chance of being set free like O.J.

Well the first one I picked is... "The difference between right and wrong is clear". I agree with this one big time. This effects society when people do things they shouldent. If someone killed another being they need to have there ass put in jail. We know that when being raised you shall not kill anyone or there will be consequences. People can be stupid I guess.
The second one would be "Innocent until proven guilty". I agreed on this because some people are innocent. How wrong would it be if you were accused for murder but did not commit the crime? I think everyone should be innocent until proven guilty. This effects us just because innocent people can be punished or given a bad name.

I think that #8 is the most important statement on the paper. #8 states that a person is innocent until proven guilty. I would not want to be imprisoned if someone thought I was guilty of doing something. I would want them to figure the situation out to see if I am guilty or not before they punish me. The second atatement I choose to talk about was #7. #7 states that courage means doing something even though it can be difficult and fearsome. I am pretty sure that if you do something fearful you are considerd courageous so I put a + for that one. I think the statement should leave out the diffucult part becasue I dont thinnk that doing something diffucult is courageous.

I disagree, only because I'm not about to say that I don't worship God and be willing to die for it. That sounds really stupid. I mean, c'mon-WHO WOULD?! If someone asked if I believed in God and Jesus and I said 'No, I believe in Amun Ra, but it's the same thing,' I'd probably lose my head or get my innards chopped out or something. >:(

"Confessing to a crime you didn't commit in order to avoid punishment is wise."

I agree so much, because it's smart to say "WEEEEEELL, *I* didn't do it, but i know who did and why they did it," is not necessarily mean that you're a 'nark' or a 'tattletale'(what grade are we in, people?). Heh. I think that it's alot easier on everyone because you don't really take the blame from the incident. You just help make the situation more open and help solve the problem. :3

don't forget to check thursday and friday from last week for me =)

The statements I choose are "It's more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesn't forgive you." and "Beliefs in opposition to common values should be illegal.". For the first one I agreed because when you try to forgive yourself, and the person you hurt is still mad at you then they're probably moping around feeling sad or depressed. Which that is pretty hard to ignore or to forgive yourself for that. Yet for the second one I disagreed with the statement. Mainly because it says that I can't have my own beliefs or values as others. I'd like to have my own beliefs and values that are different then others, thank you very much. These effect how people act in society by telling them that they can't follow their own beliefs or they'll get put into jail or killed by a some downright dimwitted law. Or telling people that they should apologize to the people that they have hurt.

I could write about any of the 10 statements that you gave us and make a valid arguement on my opinion. However one that i really believe in is, "That which doesn't destroy us only makes us stronger." First of all i think this is true because if it doesn't totally wreck you or kill you than know you know what it does and how to defend it. Also, the next time this might happen to you it most likely won't hurt as bad because of the factor you are stronger. An example of this is my friends mom had a type of bad cancer a few years back but they luckily stopped it or whatever and wouldn't you know it she got it again. The point here is that the 2nd time she wasn't as scared and nervous for anything along with her family. Next statement is "it is better to die for whgat you believe in rather than to lie to save your life." One reason i like this is because in my opinion lying gets you know where in life expecially when it's about something really important. Also, when it madders the most i think people will catch you lying then when you do have to die you can't even die for what you believe in. Last thing is when I lie about something i always feel bad about it afterwards and not being able to stand up for something i like or believe in would just tear me apart. Plus then you are basically saying you don't believe in it.

a very important statement we should go by is " a person is innocent until proven guilty". this can determine who you blame and if you are right. i don't think it is right to just accus someone of a crime and not have any eveidence to back up your idea. an example are the witch hunts. they could pick out anyone they wanted to accuse of being a witch and the would be put through rediculous tests. the other statment i think means a lot is "that which doesn't destroy us makes us stronger". if you face something ans win, you will achieve and gain. you know what to do if a stituation like that happens again. you will also be able to learn from that experience and do even better next time.

1)Courage means doing something even though it can be difficult and fearsome.

2)A person is innocent until proven guilty.

For the first statement I disagreed. I disagreed because you don't have to do something difficult and fearsome in order to show courage. Sometimes courage could be telling someone that you like them or it could also be telling the truth. This statement is wrong because anyone can show courage and not everyone can do something fearsome.
For the second statement I agreed. It doesn't make sence to say that someone is guilty until proven innocent. People shouldn't have to be affraid to be accused of something. They should know that they have a chance to defend themselves and not just get thrown in jail.

Mr. Kay,
I thought the quote idea, "The difference between right and wrong is clear" is not always true. I think this because what if you have a gun to a serial killer/rapist's head, you might think well this is illegal, but he deserves it. So it could be viewed as wrong, but by some perfectly right. This can effect society because sometimes an individual or a group of people may not always see the line between good and bad in which they do helpful but harmful things, such as killing a killer. The other one I am choosing is "Belief in opposition of common values should be illegal." I think that this is a ridiculous belief. It sort of goes back to when we talked about how transcendentalists were sort of frowned upon by society, it is just like that. I think people should be allowed to believe what they want, without taking it to far. For example, you might believe that school needs to be blown up, (Because you don't like it), but just as long as you don't blow up a school, you should be allowed to think like that. This could affect people because people need to be able to speak their minds. They are already scared enough to speak or minds, but if it was illegal, know one would have a different opinion. It wouldn't be fun.

Mr. Kay,

One of the statements that I chose is "The difference b/w good and bad are always clear". I do not think that this is always true. Sometimes doing something is good for one person but bad for another. A way that you can never go wrong with is doing what your heart tells you. The second is "Innocent until proven guilty". In this I think that it should be the other way around. People tend to abuse this saying to the point that we always assume that everyone is always innocent. The last one is "The best way to justice is court of law". I disagree with this a lot. My opinion is that court of law isnt walways correct, as many of us ahve seen with O.J. Simpson. Some say that he is innocent, when all the facts point in the opposite direction. In most cases court of law is too fair and is afraid to put its foot down and stop things. It is also say to be "equal", you can tell that certain people get a lower sentence because of who they are, when that should not happen.

One of the statements i would like to talk about is the one stating there is only one correct way to interpret the Bible. I personally disagreed with this statement. If everyone interpreted the Bible the same there would only be one type of church there wouldn't be catholics or protestants or any other type for that matter. All preachers would have to talk and teach the same things so that everyone would understand it the same. If all preachers were the same church's would have no personality and they wouldn't be able to spread and teach the information to the people of the church. The second statement I would like to talk about is the one saying that whatever doesn't kill you make s you stronger. I agreed with statement. If you have a near death experience and you survive you learn important lessons and hopefully gain intelligence because you all ready went through it. Like 50 cent he got shot like 9 times and he has learned and has grown from his near death experience. Now he has several body guards and a bunch of money because he can rap about how he got shot. 50 cent a true American gangsta.

"It is more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesn't forgive you." This quote, I believe has a lot of meaning towards it. When you do something wrong to a important person, you can't help but be sorry. It doesn't matter what you do to try and get them to forgive you, even if they do they will never forget. I personally have never had an experience where someone did not forgive me so to say. If that person were close to you, I can't imagine what it must feel like to have someone special to you not to forgive you. "Courage means to do something even though it can be difficult and fearsome." I chose this for my second quote for this evening, the reason being this is I feel many people lack courage. Everyone is to busy wondering how the look, what's the "drama" going on in school, who's talking to your "crush". People need to understand, that people like you for you who are. Such as Courage. For example, Chris McCandless. He went through obsickle to obsickle to make it to his destination, without wanting anything from anyone. Though this may be difficult, he knew what he wanted and wouldn't stop until he accomplished his goal. Also, another example is Rosa Parks. She wouldn't give up her seat in the front of the bus because her feet were tired. And look how that turned out? Not moving her seat, made a difference in the world today. Just by having courage to stand up what was right. I hope that one day I will have the same courage Chris McCandless and Rosa Parks both did an make a difference in someone else's.

I have a hard time getting over it because I know that I hurt that person and its on my conscience. The second statement I picked was There is only one correct way to interpret the bible. I disagree with it, there are many different ways. Its like everything else in life. Someone says one thing and everyone thinks about it differently. There are so many different interpretations of the bible that all pretty much say the same thing but in different words. They're all right. And I don't get the second part about the question about how peoples actions are affected by the statements. Sorry.

I picked two statements that I agree with. They are that a person is innocent until proven guilty and that it is more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesn’t forgive you. Innocent until proven guilty is one of our legal right in the U.S. No one should ever take this away from you. To me on what we have talked about and read on the witch hunts that innocent until proven guilty was used but the test to prove that you are not a witch is setting you up to fail judgment. I also believe that it is more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesn’t forgive you because it is an emotional blow to you. For example if you crash a car that you and a friend are in. In the crash your friend broke his leg and he does not forgive you, you are stuck with it your whole life.

"That which doesn't destroy us only makes us stronger." Not completely true. The stableness and security of a person will decide the outcome. Deaths of people close to someone have the ability of turning that person into a recluse. Such devastating events change people, sometimes for the worse. People can become depressed or alcoholics or any kind of dysfunctional way to move through life. I marked this quote with a ? mark on my paper because its not completely black and white. I do believe the people that have enough courage to get through these things will be stronger. bringing me to my next quote "Courage means doing something even though it can be difficult and fearsome." I believe if people follow this quote through tragedies in their life than the first quote can apply. Courage is life. It's what you have to do in order to be successful. Life is going to be difficult, its going to be fearsome. You cant live your life so safe that theres no possibility of something happening to make you stronger. If you live your whole life safe, thats the tragedy, and who knows if it will make you stronger.

The first statement I picked was "Beleifs in opposition to common values should be illegal." I disagree with this statement because if someone disagrees with the values of another, they should not be thrown in jail for it, they should have the freedom to speak what they like. Most people think that because someone is the same religion as them, that person should have the same values as they do, but that's not always the case. Religion was a big problem with people thinking that everyone should be the same religion as themselves, but people's beleifs are their values so they should have the ability to beleive in anything or nothing that they want. Another statement, "That which doesn't destroy us only makes us stronger", I am a strong beleiver in this and use it everyday. It really is true because whenever you are attempting to do or fight something that's incredibally hard, if you get through it, you become stronger in doing things related to it. Whether it's strengthening your mental or physical abilities surviving a project in school or an injury in sports, after it's done projects seem easier and precautions are made in preventing another injury. In society when you are accused of something you and you get yourself out of that accusation, you handle criticism and people pointing fingers better, I think that's the case in the Salem witch trials.

The first statement I choose would be "There is only one correct way to interpret the Bible." I think I would have to disagree. Some parts of the Bible there is no other way of interpreting it. The words that at are highlighted in red, (in my Bible)are words that are specifically said by god. Everything else is a different story. Most of the Bible is made up of interpretations of what happened by the people who wrote the books of the bible. So I would have to say that there can be many different ways of interpreting the Bible. The second statement I have pick is, "That which doesn't destroy us only makes us stronger." I would agree with this. I believe that it is the tough times that make you stronger and when you get through those times you feel like a new person.

"It is more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you hve hurt doesn't forgive you." I agree with this statement. If you do something to hurt someone and you feel bad about it, and they say i dont forgive you. You will feel worse about it, well atleast i do. I find it hard to forgive myself when i do something to someone when they dont forgive me. The second Statement i chose was, Innocent untill proven guilty. I agree with this as well. I think that if you are being held against something and they havent proven you guilty. Your going to be innocent untill they can prove it.

"There is only one correct way to interpret the Bible." Now im not the religious type, but im pretty sure many poeple would think this is wrong. If there is a god and he wrote the Bible i think it would be however the person chooses to learn from it. Its not likes it is a guideline you have to follow or get sent to Hell. Many poeple say that you should take the Bible how you want, and if i ever read it i will. "Its more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesnt forgive you." I agree with this. When you forgive yourself it means you feel better, like a clean slate. But when the person you hurt is still hurting, and wont forgive you, you wont be okay. I know that i would still feel like shit. Just knowing that i hurt someone enough for them to not forgive me, expecially someone i care for, would kill.

Which i think is a great thing because without that system there would be anarcey.

mr kay, okay the first one i pick is, the difference between right and wrong is clear. I kinda think for both sides. for instance, if you think one thing is good over another you will pick it over the bad. I really dont remember if i agreed or disagreed on this one but i could of changed my mind, i think i agree. the next one i pick is, there is only one way to interpret the bible, and i disagree with this one. Because the peeople that wrote this want us to believe in it, we werent there so whatever we see in our heads doesnt mean that everyone else sees the same. people can choose what they want to believe, hear, see, etc etc it just makes them who they are.

After participating in the group dicussion in class i found two of the ten statements to really jump out at my beliefs. One of the major being "A person is innocent until proven guilty". Like many people i find this to be very important because of its set in the constitution and it being a god given right. Meaning that in life if the statment was everyone is guilty untill proven innocent was set, the world would be in big trouble and many people would have cases that are obviously innocent but can not be proven. Another statement that caught my eye of agreeance was "Courage means doing something even though it can be difficult and fearsome". This statement in particular caught my eye because the statement cleary is true and sets boldly life today. Meaning that in order to learn new things you must be able to move through obstacles of fear and so on and be able to make mistakes, fall, but be able to get right back up and give it another go. Life is great these days knowing that anything you do with in reason, you are givin another chance to shine. So take any opportunities givin.

the first statement i would like to talk about that i picked is the one that says, "that which dosent destroy us only makes us stronger". i agreed which this statement for a couple reasons. one being that i think its true both in a phsical sense and a mental sense. if you physically get hurt, you could be toughend up by your injury, likewise in a mental persective you can go through a particularly difficult situation and know how to handle it better the next time around. for an example it would be like a lot of the soilders who have fought in wars, they were mentally hardened by what they saw and went through. my next statement is "a person is innocent unitl proven guilty". i agreed with that becuase it expresses fairness and how everybody should have an equal chance. i think that statement/idea will be prominent in the crucible.

The first statement I picked is, "Beliefs in opposition to common values should be illegal." I disagree with this statement completely. People are allowed to have their own opinions, and if everyone thought the same, this world would be very boring. The second statement I chose is "Courage means doing something even though it can be difficult and fearsome", I agree with this statement. Courage is all about doing something that is going against others. Or courage could be standing up for someone. Its all about being who you are, some people say that military people are courageous because they do something that is fearful. And another example of having courage is just going against the crowd, which for some people it can be difficult.

One of the statements i answered a + on was "The difference between right and wrond is clear. I agree with this statement beacause in the end there when it boils down to it there is good and bad. There is very few if any situation where it is not clear but its between the better of the two desicons. The second statement i chouse was "There is only one correct way to interpret the Bible." which i disagreed with. I disagreed beacause i myself am Lutheren (form of Christanity from Cathloic) and the only difference between Cathloic and Lutheren is the interprtation of the Bible. I think both are correct but one is more correct, but both are better than nothing. The two statements i chouse effect our society morals and values, what their finaly desion between the devil and the angal on their shoulders.

5. That which doesn't destroy us only makes us stronger.

I picked this one because what destroys us or brings us down can alter the way we live our lives. if it doesnt get to us we learn from it succeed from it. I answered + to it becasue of this reason. I can relate to this because my relation with someone has changed the way i act now that we arnt together and now that she doesnt care anymore. I have acted really different fron this experence.

7. Courage means doing something even though it can be difficult & fearsome.

These both go hand in hand. If you have curage to do something and you do it, and you want to do it again you could have you fear and still end up doing it. like when i got pressured into doing something. Even though i had my fears i had curage to do it which i now regret getting into because now i cant get out.

question 1: "there is only one way to interpret the bible." anyone who thinks that there is on ly one way to interpret the bible, they are: a). strongly mistaken, and b). a religious freak, and c). your wrong. ha ha, thought that was a funny way to end that sentence, but anyways, they are strongly mistaken, because everyone, every time they reads something, has a different interpretation on it. no exceptions. those who think there are 1 way to interpret the bible are religious freaks, because to all the one i meet, they think all the same things. I am not sorry, i know a lot of them, and to me they are all the same. And anyone who thinks there is only one way to read something, well, they are sorely mistaken, and what i said about letter A applies here as well.

Question number 2: "you are innocent until proven guilty". a lot of the time, i believe this to be true, because a lot of people did not really do anything bad. but, people like rulers of countries, like saddam hussein, well, i figured he was guilty until sent to death, because we knew he did these things, and there is no way around that. like other dictators, like kim jong ill, well, again, guilty until sentenced to death, because the crazy things that go on there, should never happen to anyone.

mr. kay,
The first one i piocked is that right and wrong is clear. I think we devolop this skill when we are youmg. It should be simple to tell right from wrong. We all do some wrong things at times but i do believe in second chances. Also i picked courgae means to do something difficult and fearsome. Again, i totally agree with this one. A great example is the american soldiers who risk their lives everyday for our freedom. They dont get scared or fearsome. The statemenrs I picked are actions that society does often. For instance, we all have to choose right from wrong and we all get the chance to be courageous.

"There is only one correct way to interpret the Bible."
That I believe is far from true. There are many religions that have proven this statement false. And it's not really even ours to say that there is only one way to interpret it. We didn't write the book now did we? I think society acts upon this in a horrible manner sometimes. I get in a lot of religious battles. i think people should calm down.
"That which doesn’t destroy us only makes us stronger." I agree with this statement. Well for the most part. Say one of your friends stabs you in the back (not literally of coarse.) Yeah you would be hurt but eventually you will get over it. Once you do get over it you will be a stronger person because you will know what types of people to put more trust in than others. Kanye West once told me "N- n- now th- that don't kill me
Can only make me stronger
I need you to hurry up now
cause I can't wait much longer" And Kanye west is a man with a plan.

a statement i picked was people are innocent until proven guilty. i put a plus for this statement. i put a plus because i do believe that all people are innocent until Proven guilty. i think all people should have a fair chance to not be proven gulty. the second statement i picked was that which doesnt destroy us only makes us stronger. i think this is correct because when something bad does happen you learn from and you dont do nit again and you stay away from that kind of things. i also put a plus sign on this statement.

I emailed you about this being late. im gonna try my best to make it like my one that didnt post. :|

"its more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you hurt doesnt forgive you" I think this quote is very true. I find it really hard to forgive my self, and even if the person forgives me too. Im always wanting to say sorry a million times and i still feel bad after. for and example one time i got into this big fight with hailey, and i ended up pushing her and punching her in the face. I felt terrible after, even though she forgave me i still felt really bad. For the second one i choose, "There is only one correct way to interpret the Bible." I dissagree with this statement. There is so many people in this world today that have different beliefs. The bible cant just be put in one persons view becuase no matter what someone will think different of it. Maybe it was ment to be like that but everyone is different and believes in many different things.

One statement that I chose is the difference between right and wrong is clear. I agreed with this statement because when people make choices they have to know their making a right or wrong choice. I think this statement effects the way people act in siciety because of what they see on the news. The second statement that I chose is it is more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesn't forgive you. I agree with this statement because if you have hurt someone in your family and they don't forgive you then you will feel really bad. This statement effects way people act by making sure their not lieing to their families so they don't get hurt and they won't feel bad about lieing. Thats how it might have on society.
