Preparation is what it means. The future is always undermined and sometimes uncontrollable. For little dominoes of chains of events will always get their way. This is called fate sometimes. I do not personally believe in it, the events in the past were created by humans in a chain reaction;cause and effect. Did the American revolution began because fate issued it? No, it was because king George was a ass to the colonies. but in order, screwed up the economy(took money from them basically) the tea tax, the stamp act lead to the tea party, and then heavier taxes then finally the decoration of independence. We do all in our power to give the next generation a good future, but some things are out of our control, or we cant handle the situation soon enough. This leads to the second part of the quote. "...but we can build our youth for the future." This means that if in fact we do hand a troubled world over, then that generation is ready to handle it. We can plan for what may happen and prepare the youth to be able to know how to take care of it. I think this quote is true. I think this part means even though your youth should be spontaneous, it still should be led well. This is so your future isn't screwed, but so, like your youth, is led well.
