I think that this means that the future should not be accomidating to the youth. I believe that the youth should have to prepare themselves for the future. Younger people should find a way to adapt to change. This is what the older people did and they did just fine. We need to explore and not wait for things to come to us. The youth has to be willing to fight and compete with other competition because life only gets more tough as it goes on. The future is never set in stone, which is why it is called the future. The youth is the future and they make the future.

I think that this means that the youth creates the feature. I also believe that the youth gets everybody ready for the feature. This all is like one giant circle, it never ends. I agree with William, "the feature is never set in stone". I think that more older people should be paving the way for the feature. Instead of just relying on the youth, I think things could run a lot smoother.

The first part of this quote by Franklin D. Roosevelt states that "We cannot always build the future for our youth,...". This means our generation is not always able to hand the world a perfect place for the next generation to come. We may pass on the world in war or in debt, and it's just something the next generation has to deal with. We do all in our power to give the next generation a good future, but some things are out of our control, or we cant handle the situation soon enough. This leads to the second part of the quote. "...but we can build our youth for the future." This means that if in fact we do hand a troubled world over, then that generation is ready to handle it. We can plan for what may happen and prepare the youth to be able to know how to take care of it. I think this quote is true. We need to prepare ourselves for what the future holds, because soon enough we will be the generation to run the country.

I think that this meens that we have to learn and build our minds for the future. Also that we cant not build the future for the people that are older then us they have to adapt by them selves. We have to become comfertable with the changes in life and in our society to adapt to the future. We have to learn by our selves with no help. That what like our parents and gramndparents had to do and they are doing just fine. To adapt to the future we should learn everything we can now so we do goood in the future. we can make the future how we want it to be it is not set in stone we can change it.

We can comtol it in some ways. But the most part we have no control what soever. The second part of it is that we can prepare our kids for the future. We can get them ready. For example we can teach them as much as we can. If they are succesful them we have done a good job. If they fail them we have to be there for them and tell them that they will learn from their mistakes. So they need to pick themselves up and learn from it. I think that Roosevelt is totally dead on on this quote. Good choice Mr.Kay.

I think that it is saying that parents need to raise our children to be ready for what is to come. If we didn't then the futrue for our nation would not look so good. They have to be able to make there future even better for there kids futures. Generation by generation our future has to get better. It is also saying that we can try to make the future better but our kids have to be even more prepared. So they can take there teachings and pass them on. To make this already great nation a better one for the future.

I think that this means that the future shouldnt build from the youth. But, for the youth to be prepared to live for the future. I think that the youth should be making changes in their lives to prepare themselves for their future. To do this, the youth should be more adapting to change, and exploring their future goals. Its like in school, if you work hard in high school, then you can get into a good college. Which is preparing you for a good future. Because from there, you can be able to get a good job.

We have to change we cant always be the same person life changes and so do we. Its apart of life that everyone goes through.

this quote, similar to yesterdays becuase it focus' on the future and how its hard to conrtol. that alot of the future is adventure and learning. this qoute is an older person talking about youths and what he thinks we need to do. i think it means that young people should be prepared and older ones can show them how. people cant conrtol everything in the future but they can conrtol their actions. people say that the youths of the society are the future. so if they want to see good things happen in the future they need to invest in youths.

I think this means the youth must choose there future and make it.Like how we want to spend our lives. In the long run the adults cant make our future we must eventually make it for ourselves. This also means that adults can help guide us in the right direction for a great future. They can send us to school and give us good morals and values. They really cannot decide ultimately it should be up to us how we handle the futures problems. So we cant depend on them for all of are lives because one day we will be the ones who run business, government, and everything else.

What I think this quote means is that the youth have to be ready to build there own future. Also, I think that the quote means that the youth is ready for change because their building for the future. For example schools are teaching technology for the future. Also, teaching how to recycle and stop pollution. Trying to teach childern how to help the environment. I think the youth should be ready for change because if they're not going to know what to do.This is what the quote means to me.

Mr.Kay,
Just like last nights quote, I think that this one relates to our changing future. In the first line I think that he is trying to say that we can't tell people what it will be like tomorrow. In the second line he says that if we can't tell them what tomorrow will be we can help them understand from retrospect. I completly agree with him through out this whole quote. It kind of reminds me of the leeding the horse to water qoute. Only because we can only try to help people understand what might happen. Mr.Kay I just thought of a really good question!!! when we follow the advice of others and listen to what they tell us on how to live, then we wouldnt be transendental would we???

Preparation is what it means. The future is always undermined and sometimes uncontrollable. For little dominoes of chains of events will always get their way. This is called fate sometimes. I do not personally believe in it, the events in the past were created by humans in a chain reaction;cause and effect. Did the American revolution began because fate issued it? No, it was because king George was a ass to the colonies. but in order, screwed up the economy(took money from them basically) the tea tax, the stamp act lead to the tea party, and then heavier taxes then finally the decoration of independence. See? Humanity is always in control of what happens(or a human alone). Some times the final event/effect is surprising, sometimes it is obvious. Sometimes it is caused by humans and is unpreventable in the end.

So "We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future."

means to prepare the youth to a future that is unchangeable.

I think this saying means that we can't tell what our childrens futures will be. But we can help them become what they want to be. We can prepare them for what may come. Children should be able to decide what they want their futures to be, not their parents. To be like Chris McCandless, in the respect of being who they want to be, follow their own path. Not one that their parents want to set before them. "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I, I took the on less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."

Mr. Kay,
This quote can mean numerous things. I think the main thing it is stressing is the idea that we can try our best to prepare our kids for their future. Remember though that we can never predict the future. As parents, they try to do their best to prepare their kids for whatever life throws at them. We worry because we know the youth will soon be running the country. We can make our future better if we prepare our youth for whatever it holds. The future is never definite and I think that the more we perpare, the better we will be in the long run.

I think, that this quote deals with teaching and spreading knowledge. I think that it means we cannot prepare people for the future because we dont know what will change and make things different. But, i think it means that we can prepare kids to be able to cope with change. It goes along with yesterdays quote as well. Where, theres no way to prepare for life. Because you dont know whats always going to happen. You just have to be able to adapt and learn to get used to things. I think its one of the best qualities for someone to have.

When I read this quote I admittedly thought that you cannot pick what can happen in your life. Things just happen, whether you like it or not your just going to have to deal with it. Were young, and full of energy don't waste it trying to pick things to happen. We still have to finish the race, don't quit now thinking your going to hurt your ankle. You never know what can happen, until it does. Like the quote I put in yesterday's blog "Go swim out to the ship, don't wait for it to come to the dock", go explore the wonders of everything, uncover secrets, don't wait for something to happen to you. Chances are you'll have better like preparing yourself for the future, if you actually live your life, rather the being huddled inside. You can actually say "Oh, I did that." and can relate to it.

I believe that this means the youth is not always prepared for the future. Im guesing that sometimes the current generation fails to teach the newer generation what to do. Building up the youth might mean to prepare. Preparing the youth for the future may help to keep things running like normal. Basicly if there is no youth there is no future. If there is no future we would fail as a society. This is what I thought the quote meant.

I think this quote has important meaning. I think it expresses that we cant prepare for the future because it's so unpredictable. That we have to depend on our youth, because our youth is our future. That the best way to deal with the future is through our youth. To prepare the youth for unpredictable things in the future, is the only way to help create a good future. The older generation is responsible for raising the youth to be able to adapt to change. The overall idea of this quote is to focus on the youth because they are the factor that will create an either good or horrible future.

This quote is saying that, the future is not always going to be what we hope it is. We can try to make it that way but it is never going to be perfect. Parents always want the best for thier kids. They want them to have the best future possible. So during thier lifetime, they focus on the future for us. Like education, savings accounts, and things that we will need to be succesful in life. However the second part is saying that youth can be prepared for the future. No matter what the future is like, you can educate the youth on what they need to be prepared for. Because We spend our whole youth learning about the world and what is in it. It only seems fair that with all that learning comes a little preperation for what is ahead.

Conner said...

This quote can actually be put into many diferent meanings. The way i see it is that we can not transform or bulid the future for someones need of a certain characteristic or personality change. But we can tranform that person and correct there personal issues or problems. Example such as me. I have the characteristic of smarts and intelligence. But as a person i do not put the extra effert. If i could though i would lower all of the future problems and school work thats needed to be done. But in life the work needs to be set and put out in order to succeed. But if you expect the future to change then chances are, you will not accomplish personal goals.

This quote means that we can not always have everything perfect for the youth. We can not predict what the future will hold when the next generation enters. However we can always try to make it the best possible. The second part means that we can always prepare our youth for what is next. By them learning about the world and what it holds it becomes easier for them to enter into adulthood. It only seems fair that with all this learning and knowledge they are programmed with, that it teaches them a little something about the future and what it holds. The youth will one day live in the future and it is up to the adults to teach preperation.

I think it means they cannot build the future according to the youth but can teach them the way they want. They can teach them certain things and not teach them others. Such as only teaching a biased opinion on things or worldwide views. Or encourage the youth to do certain things and what to fight for. Teach them to be hard working and dedicated or lazy and slacking. It all depends on how the goverment may act to whats going on. But overall the youth can choose to listen or not to changeing the future to their likeing.

I think that this quote is a very wise one. First, is that adults cannot always complete and change problems. Some you must do little bits at a time. It may take many generations, but you have to get the ball rolling for there to be change. So you cannot always build the future for your youth means that you cannot make all problems disappear in the world in time for your kids. However, one reason why people have kids is to leave a little bit of themselves behind. You do this by teaching your kids your values. So what it means by build our youth for the future is that you can teach your kids how to handle problems they will phase in the future. Perhaps even solving them.

I think this quote means that adults cannot help the youth with thier future. They can help and lead you to have a good future, but they can't set it for sure. It will ruin your relationship if you try to control someone future. The youth learns, and creates thier own future. They choose what they want in life, and set thier own standards. Hopefully the teen or child wants to be sucessful and goes for that. The youth is it's only hope to create its future, and it's up to us.

It means we can't change how the future unfolds. The world is going to change as will the people in it and we don't have any control over it. So instead of changing everybody around us, we can just prepare the younger people. We have to get our children ready to deal with the world when things get crazy and people they will deal with. We show them to be good to the enviornment, to not judge anyone, and use their manners to everyone. Although we can try to build the future for our children we're better off preparing and making them strong to deal with any situation they're in. With how much people have changed since the past few centuries, our children are going to end up in places we don't want them, but if we tell them how to properly act they can get out of any bad situation.

Also, we cannot hope the youth will do everything correct to make a great future. Another thing is that the future doesn't have a set pattern. The other thing is that if we help our youth grow up than we can have a better future. Or even close to perfect but that would be a huge stretch. An example of this my generation because we are in a slump right now as everyone knows and we have to make sure it doesn't get worse. This quote is true and applies to our lives right now. Roosevelt is saying that the older and wiser cannot make a perfect society for the younger adults to just step into. No matter how hard any group of people try to make a better economy, a better society, or a better environment, the world will always have it's flaws. The world is filled with imperfect people, so it is only fitting that the world has flaws as well. Roosevelt also says that altough we cannot make the youth's future what we want it to be, we can still impact their futures positively. By teaching the youth the necessary skills and knowledge they need, we are giving them more oppertunities. We have to instill good working ethics, strong values, and competitive personalities in our youth. There are so many life skills that the youth need to possess and can only obtain through esperiences and observing the older generations. By building the youth for the future, we are creating a better future.

I think this quote means that we should be prepared for the future. Sometimes, you have control over what happens in the future. A lot of times you don't and there's only one thing you can do about it. You can be more prepared for what is to come and teach others too. If you teach your kids or younger sibilings how to react to things, they will be better off in an unpredictable world. This quote is just saying that the future won't change just because we want it to. We are the ones that have to change to fit it and be able to adapt.

Its a contineous cycle of devoloping the younger kids to be able to survive their future. I believe in my stage of life, we have the tools to benefit ourselves to be prepared for the future, although the tools are only available to those who are drivin. People like this are the ones who help preapre the youth when we are grown up. As time goes on, it will be harder to motivate the youth and teach them how to survive in a global society.

Mr. Kay,
I think the main point of this quote is that youth is the key idea in life. At least the main idea of this quote is based on the big concept of youth. The first part says We cannot always build the future for our youth. That is saying that we can't do this because its not worth it. Spontaneity is a key in being youthful. You shouldn't really plan out youth. That just ruins the fun of the funnest part of your life. You just can't. Now to the second part of the quote, we can build our youth for the future. I think this part means even though your youth should be spontaneous, it still should be led well. This is so your future isn't screwed, but so, like your youth, is led well. This will make the rest of your life good. So in short, Live you youth to the fullest and make the most fun out of it, but live it right. This is all making sense to me. I like this quote because I am really like this. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, or pretty much anything bad, yet I still love my youth and have tons of fun. I hope i sort of understood this correctly but at least this is what I take away from the quote.

I think that the future is based upon the youth and what they can do to make it better. The youth can be prepared to make changes if we know what the problems are. This quote, in my opinion, means that we can't make the world much better to suit the next generation, but we can prepare the youth for the things that will happen in the future. It is easier to change and make the youth ready for the evants that will occur, than it is to change the world. In this world today, with the new technologies that have come about, mare and more jobs are being sent overseas. So our generation must get going and in order to beat foreign people for their jobs. Also, with the economy in the state it is, the demand for innovations and ideas to help things like gas prices are at an all-time high. We need to try to find solutions. So, to sum it up, our generation must get going and learn to adapt to things and be ready to embrace change, because the future might include event we might not like.

We can not always build the future on the youth because the youth is always changing. The youth needs to form there own future. When we start relying on others for our future things can go wrong. The only way to make sure the future turns out the way you want it to is to contribute yourself. When it says we can build the youth for the future i believe this means that we can prepare ourselves for the future. We can go to school, learn everything we can from our parents. In the end these are the things that will help better prepare us for the future.

I can't make up my mind on whether or not I agree or disagree with this quote. I feel like the older people in society should try to help as much as possible to make the future easier for the youth. I also think the youth needs to work and for our own future.
p.s. I'm gonna freaking own that test tommorow. HAH

This quote can really mean many different things. The way I see it is the people living in the present can't build the future for the youth. But it can help build the youth so that they will succeed in the future. Its pretty much like a cycle. You start as the youth and as you grow and learn you become the present, then you teach the youth to get them ready for the future. My Dad is always telling me how we as the youth are going to be fucked when we grow up. He says these things because the things like gas prices, economy, jobs going over seas and so on and so forth.

I think the quote means that the future revolves around what our current youth makes of it. I believe it says that the adults we have at this present time can not control what the outcome of the future will be for us. Most adults still try to build our future's for us though..They could prepare us for the future though. But the future still revolves around our decisions.. So if we mess up then our future is screwed for the rest of the generations pretty much. The same thing will happen to all of the next generations after us.

many interpretations can be made of this quote. the one that pops into my brain first though is:

although we can not make the future right for our children, we can teach them ways to make it right. this quote is quite right for today, as our parents, many, that bought houses out of their ranges, created the problem that is our recession now. they created it because now that they can not pay anyone any money, cause they bought a half million dollar house. they not only failed themselves, they failed the country, because everyone who made sure they wouldn't be in a big problem, that they couldn't pay there home bill.

in a short summary of why we are in this bad economic times: so many people could get house's so easily that people who could not, and who they could not, pay their bill, bought those house's, cause they were so easy to buy. and now they are getting to the point, and we are now past it, that these people, and the banks are finally realizing that they cant pay off their house loan. people pretty much set themselves up to fail. but the worst part, is that people who made sure their payments were going to be okay, are now going to have to bail the deadbeats who were stupid in purchasing their half mill house, and thats why many people are hating people who have those.5 mill houses, cause really, they could have been deadbeats to, and still have a .5 mill. house.

"Some Peoples Children" - Mrs.Johnson

that quote applies so much to people who make stupid choices.

I think that this quote is true. I think that what it is saying is that our youth shouldnt given the future to them. They sould have to earn it. It is also saying that the future is made by the youth. Our teachers have to teach our youth because they will be the ones running our countries one day and we dont want it to be the genereation before thems fault. Our youth also have to be willing to learn and want to be the ones runniong a successful nation.

"We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future."

We cannot "mold" the lives our children to fit our own wishes, but we can try to give them the oppurtunity to lead a good, healthy, prosperous life.
