Another decent day of presentations. As I said to 5th hour, do not forget to read clearly all information and rubrics when creating presentations. Too many people got into the creative aspects of the presentation but did not focus on the importance of Transcendentalism within your communities. In fact, there were only 1 or 2 in each class that spoke to individuality clearly and enough. Live and learn.
While we are doing a review tomorrow for "Into the Wild" do not wait and study until tomorrow night. Go through the study guide and be prepared to discuss each section tomorrow. Also, do not forget the vocab quiz as well.

I don't believe part of this is true. Yes, advantures are fun and exciting, but many people enjoy security. When you have a family and a secure job, you can enjoy the little advantures that come. Such as raising a child. Change is a good thing, life would be boring and the same without change. The unknown is what makes people get up in the morning because each day holds new surprises. I think the first sentence of the quote states that you can only get further in life if you are able to adapt to change. If you cannot deal with change then it is difficult to deal with what life brings to you, because there is so much change in the world. It also says that you have to be open to things that you are unsure of. The most successful take risks when they don't know the outcome of the situation, and they are brave enough to go forth with it anyway. An example of this is entrepreneurs. They invest all their money and time into their business in hope of success, but are unsure of what will become of it. The quote goes on to say that change and uncertainty is a part of life, and it may not be reassuring, but it gives a sense of adventure. Even if you do not know what will happen, you can still be excited about what could happen. Going back to my example of entrepreneurship, a business owner may be very concerned about what could happen, but at the same time thinking of all the possibilities if the business does well.

This means that the only people who know how to survive are the people that know how to deal with change. The people who explore new things are the ones who know how to deal with it. The nature of life is always changing, and you really don't know what to expect what will happen next. In life there are risks to take, but when you take those risks life can be more fun and give you stories to tell. People always say that the poor class has more interesting stories to tell because they've had adventures of trying to survive a harsh life. And it's true when you make big decisions to get through the changing nature of life you have fun doing it instead of everything being calm all the time. If you never have a time in your life where you worry something or do something big in order to get something small than you will have no good stories to tell.

I think that the main idea of this quote is adapting to change. If you live your life not being comfortable with change, then you arent really living your life. Sometimes you have to take risks and be spontaneous. The people who explore new things and have adventures, know how to deal with change. Basically what hes saying is, the only people who survive are the people who are open to change. For some people, its not that easy to take risks and be spontaneous, but once you take those risks, something really good could come from it. Like maybe achieving a life time goal, or just an interesting story to tell to people.

I believe this is true. Life is full of dissapointments and surprises. The nature of life makes living it a new adventure everyday. One can never guess what can happen tommorow or in the future. One thing I dont believe in this peice is that only those who are comfortable with cahange have a found a way. I believe nobody is comfortable with change. If you cannot continue living productively when this happens, then your life will be very difficult. You never know when what you are comfortable with is going to change and force you to have to try something new. I think this is saying that there is no way to tell what is going to come in life. Rather it be good or bad you have to make the best of it. I think it is saying there is no safe way to live your life. There will always be some problem you have to deal with. I think this means that once everyone is comfortable with the environment they are in they can be them selfs. Also as you grow older you can adapt to change better that you may have normally would. I think this qoute means that life isn't always easy or predictable. One day you might be so happy, then the next something so bad could happen, some won't be able to adapt because there afraid of change. This change might seem bad, but i know now that no matter how bad that change made your life things will get better. Anyways, everyday is a new beginning so i believe no one should give up just because theres a shift in their life. No one should give up, just stick it out. I have a few experiences where I feel like quitting just because of a change, I am afraid of losing alot. I dwell on the past to much, and i need to fix that. So, just go on along with the change, I promise it will be fine in the end.

i really like how the unknown author said that quote. it is a different way to look at life and i think it is completly true. the only way to be truely happy is to due something you belive in. to strive for a goal you have. you don't necessarily have to change everything about your life that is comfortable for you. but to just go with something new. you can always try something and decide you don't like it and do something else. you might not know where you are trying to go or what you are trying to do, but as long as you are happy, that is all that matters.
Part of this quote I agree with, and the other part not so much. I take that the ending is trying to say that life if a adventure, you never know what obstacles you'll run into. Their isn't a manual to life, and how to do things. You have to take everything one step at a time. For example when all of us were learning how to walk, you took one step at a time, you could of fallen but got right back up and tired it again. There is always going to be change in the world, it's just something we have to adapt to. For instance, when the new president is elected there will be a drastic change and how he/she will do things. I think that, for the most part, this quote is accurate. I believe life is all about change and that people that can adapt to change are going to succeed in life the most. The meaning of life is change or is changing. People who make changes or learn to live with changes will find the true meaning of life. Another thing that I like about this quote is that it states the truth. I support the ending of this quote very much. If you feel secure, you really aren't living life. Life is all about exploring and finding new things and creating an adventure for your life. Life is about a straight path or easy. Life is truly a rollercoaster that you make. Life can be secure f you make it so, however, I believe that this is the wrong way. I had to read this quote a few times to get a little better understanding of it. But I think that it means the people who enjoy life and are truely happy are the ones who can accept change. The people who if things don't always go the right way there still happy. And life is always changing and without change it would be boring. The 2nd part means that theres not always security in life. You are never 100% safe from having an accident and dying but everything you do is like an adventure. To me I think that the first statement that the unknown author said is true. Many people aren't comfortable with change or the unknown. If people don't know what something is they get afraid and start to withdraw. They can't go on and actually live your life, you just hide in fear. Life is a vast field of amazement and you wont get the chance to experience it if you do not accept these two things. I think that people need to step out of their security zone and be exposed to the "elements". I think that people these days are to sheltered and many are introverts. We need to accept life with open arms and go for what we want so we can experience life to the fullest.

I think that this qoute is true. One reason i say this is because you need to have adventures in your life to enjoy it. This quote is a kind of quote that could stand or define many things, and to be honest, most of them I really don't know. I think that the first sentence means that the only people that really know life are the ones that know and have experienced changes in their life. They might not have been good changes. But they still got through it, it's not like the earth will come to an end. I think that the people that can't take change are the people that end up like the guy from the TV show Monk. He can't take change, everything has to be as it was. The bad thing about being someone like Monk, is that you can never really experience what life has to hold for you, espeacially if you can't take change.

I dont think that parts of this is true. Adventures are pretty sweet and all, but security is good to have. But what i think this quote means is making a change. Getting used to things differently. at some point in time there is always room for a change in life. Theres a new adventure everyday. We need to take steps in our lives and move on. I think the first sentence is saying you only understand life when you understand sunrises and changes. I believe this is true. I think this because you can't always not expect disappointment. Pretty much you need to understand that things wont always work out like they should and you should know that it shouldn't ruin your life because of the one little breakdown. I personally hate change or when something changes out of the blue. I haven't yet really understood this in my life. I know I should understand disappointment and such because it always does something to my life and mainly I like my life routine. I need to understand that disappointment and changes will always happen and it shouldn't ruin my life. The second part of the quote is also true (knowing it just pretty much added to it). It's essentially saying that in life things will change and disappoint you, but you can't get away from it and this is what makes life fun. It makes sense to me and I think I should actually start considering the nature of this quote for the better of my life.

I think what this quote is trying to say is to have fun with your life. I don't really agree with it to much when it say's "there may be no security, but only adventure." I like this quote. I think it covers they mystery of what waits for each and every one of us further down the road. And it tells us that there will not always be someone or somthing there to protect us. Not everything is like a book, where the problem is always solved in a fairytale way.
When we mature, we change. And when we change, we adapt to life's road bumps and and sharp turns. And occasionally we'll hit a red light, but shouldn't worry when it doesn't turn green right away.

I agree with this statement because life is always changing and it is very important to be able to adapt and not get overwhelmed. You can be secure and perfectly content and still know a good life. The only problem is that if you have an unexpected change for the worse then everything will change and you won't be able to handle it. It goes back to the quote, life is an adventure. It can relate to Into the Wild too. In the book, Chris went out into the wild in the security that everything would be fine. But when the weather conditions changed and the river rose, he was unprepared for the adventure and it eventually cost him his life.

I like this quote for many reasons. The first being is it is a very honest quote. The second part is really what gets my attention. Given the nature of life, there may be no security, but only adventure. Because in life no one has 100 percent security. They have adventures and journeys and can only be protected to a certain extent. The first part of the quote however is also very catching. Life is known by only those who have found a way to be comfortable with change and the unknown. It's true because in order to understand life, you have to grasp the concept that things happen for a reason. That there are parts of your life your always going to question or wish to change. Although once you realize that the best way to control life is just to live it. You can try to guide your life as much as you can but eventually it will just take it's coarse. I think ther will be times when people in life are confused and do not understand the unknown. However I do think that those times in life, are when you understand life the most.

I think that this statement is not fully true but I can tell you what it means. The first sentence means that to live life you have to be able to cope with changes that are brought to you. You have to be comfortable with what ever you have changed and if you do then you have lived life the way it should have. Another thing is that you must be comfortable with the unknown. Life is about trying to accomplish as much as you can and to be happy with yourself. I can't speak for everyone but I think it would be awful difficult to go through life doing the same thing day by day. This quote expresses how random life can be. That no one has the capability of knowing what the future will bring. To live life you have to be able to change and adapt. there is still truth to this quote, as day by day, i do live without many securities, such as not knowing wether someone might get mad at me over something, or if they will yell at me for some random reason. i also live without the security of many of my thoughts and actions being thought through enough, which results in many problems, which leads to yelling.
I personally have learned to go with change, and to change if needed, to a point. but i never lose my individualism. I also go into the unknown everyday, and, for most of my life, unlike most people, i am ready for the future and the unknown.

I agree with this quote completely. Life is not always going to go as planed. Thats why you have to be able to adapted to change. And be ready for the unexpected. For instance people have emergency supplies so if something does happen they are prepared. Perfect example the people in New Orleans were not prepared for hurricane Katrina and thats why they paid the ultimate price in the end. I also think this quote is trying to say that you should make the best out of a bad situation. A good example is people always bitch and moan about going to work every day but in reality you have to do this to be successful. Even with bloging I don't want to blog every night but i do it anyways so i can get a good grade. And really everyone does this at one point in there life or another. People just have to look at the glass half full rather than half empty, And make the best of the situation they are in.

One day your parents might be here, and the next they could get in a car accident and be paralyzed. Basically, life is an adventure. I think this quotes means that the people who enjoy successful lives are the people who can easily adapt to change. They are the ones who will embrace change and the unknown instead of being afraid of it. You must take risks anyways in order to be a successful individual. An example is a government official. They must be ready to handle any situation that comes along and be willing to take risks. The second part states that life is an adventure but it is not necessarily "safe". A government official like a governor is a good example of theis too. They have an adventurous job but they are definately not safe in their office and life.

I am pretty confused on this quote but ill take a stab at it. From the little i know about this quote i believe it is running along the lines of being able to make a correction in life. Corrections to things such as any unexpection turns. Meaning if in general you were really comfortable with your life style and the way it all flowed. You should also at the same time be ready for any dramastic changes. And resulting in these changes you shall be able to adjust or make a difference to the outcome. Last thing i would like to add is that i believe that if life were to have no turns or unexpeted events life would be very dry and boring.
I think it means that you can do what ever you want to adapt and be comfortable. Like I can change the type of clothes I wear. Or the type of music I listen to. To what ever fits what I want. It may never be the same again or for long. So you may not have a constant base but you are enjoying things the way you want to. Instead of going by what everyone else says. This quote is truer than ever to my family and me. The reason for that is that my dad works for Chrysler and if they merge with GM before the 31st my dad is going to lose his retirement package. With the merger and dad losing his retirement package he will lose his health care protection, and we need it for him. With the economy going down and the possible merger tons of people may lose their job. We hope to have them not merge at all because we are comfortable the way we are right now. With all of this planning to merge coming out of the blue we are definitely unsettled about this and having to find out the hard way. For us right now it is one big adventure.

I believe this is true except that even knowing where your going and your saroundings, its very nice to have security. Adventures are fun and exciting its better knowing you have security. For an example: when we go to hounted houses, even knowing they are hounted its better to have someone to feel more secure in the situation. Now with this being said, if you living in fear and not dealing with changes you wont survive on you adventure. Change is good but not always and if so we learn how to deal with it learn from it. I believe change is happening all the time. The more you accept that easier life is handled. you can not always be afraid of change and whay might come next. So you can plan your life but you have to accept that life changes your plans. Life is an adventure. You just have to be smart about your moves and learn to make good decisions. i believe the statement is true. i agree with the part that says life is all about being comfortable with change becuase your'e bound to face change at some point in your life. the conclusion of the statement brings up a valid point. life is very uncertain and there are very few aspects that you can conrtol. for instance, peoples jobs are very unsecure in todays economy. they know that they could possibly be replaced at any moment by someone more capable of doing their tasks. so yes, i agree with this statement because no one can foresee certain events that will happen later in their lives. unbeknownst to them, their "adventures" may turn out to be fate.

The first sentence is about adapting with your surroundings. Adapting with things in life to hold you up along the way. You have to learn how to work through these. I think the statement "found a way to be comfortable with change and the unknown" is somewhat ironic. I think that to be able to do this, you can never get comfortable and satisfied, you must always be ready for something new. I think that the second statement means that being able to adapt may be things you are not used to. It will be somehing new, and a new experience. Without change, life would be boring and without excitement.
I believe that this means that the only type of people who know how to survive are those who know how to survive in the wild. I don't think that that statement is necessarily true. Why is it that you can only live life to the fullest if you can survive the nature? I think this quote also means that you have to learn to adapt to change. I somewhat agree with this quote. I think that everyone should live life to the fullest. You never know when you time is up.

This quote I find is very true. I think that in the first two lines this person is trying to say that people compare how good their life is by the good expericences and vis versa. I think that they are also trying to say that you can't always rely on tomorrow and we just have to live with what we have today. In the third and fourth lines i think this person is trying to compare life to nature. In the sense that nature is always changing and our lifes do the same. And when life is changing the things in it do also so I think that he's also trying to state that we never know where it's going to take us. Nothing will always be there and we have to be leave that everything happens for a reason.

I believe that this quote is true. I dio beleive that people learn from being adventerous. They enjoy being adventerous, but want to be secure. They both intertwine in a way. People become secure by being adventerous. When you are adventerous, people make mistakes when they are adventerous. When they make mistakes it allows them to set boundaries for themselves to make themselves more secure. So when they make mistakes, they set boundaries and become secure.

i belive that we all have to learn to get comfortable with change and the unkown. i think we have to be comfortable with it because we all have to go through changes no matter if we like them or not. you can also learn or experince new things. it helps us get out of our shells. we may not have sucurity becouse so many changes may happen and we dont know what to expect next. this is what i belive this comment ment.

This is a very intresting quote. I think the first part is stessing that you have to be ready for whatever life throws at you. You never know when someone may die, lose their job, or even you may lose your life. You have to be ready for change. The second part is saying that nothing is ever for sure. You may think you have something, and then you lose it. Also, you have to have fun with your life no matter what. No matter what you must live your life to the fullest.

I believe change is happening all the time. The more you accept that easier life is handled. you can not always be afraid of change and whay might come next. So you can plan your life but you have to accept that life changes your plans. Life is an adventure. You just have to be smart about your moves and learn to make good decisions.
