Popularity is something well liked and well knowned.Sometimes you are popular but still unliked. You can also see it as the band was popular or the object.Transcendental?I dont think it can be because theres a lot of it and its everywhere.I guess you could try to push it in but you could say the person was popular and there arent too many popluar people. To me though it seems closer to the idea of conformity. It seems this way because there is a lot of popularity and everyone wants it.

Popularity is a very loose term because something can be popular in its own way. Nobody or anything is really popular. It's the group that they fall that makes them popular in their own way. There are many groups of people and things but popularity however someone or something is viewed will make it popular. People who call other people popular really shouldn't because popularity is defined as how you want to define it. Whenever I talk to my dad about the popular crowd, he says no one is popular. He always tells me that they are just another group. You don't have to be in with the "cool" kids just to say your popular. You have to make yourself popular by being outgoing and friendly. People will except you for who you are and those are the people that make you popular. Popularity connects to the idea of transcendentalism by the thought of people being individual. People that care about being popular are really not transcendentalists or individuals. They are conformists that go along with whatever the group does. People that are in the "cool" or popular, some may say, crowd you have to do what is cool at that time. Nobody has control of the group. Peole that are individuals can be popular in their way. People would look up to that person and say "Wow, they look like they're having a good time." or just want to be themselves like that person and thats what popularity turns out to be.

I think that the media largely affects what is popular and what is not popular. People who we look up to also affect what is popular. I think that this idea of popularity can be transcendental as well as conformist. The people who follow what popularity says you should are conforming to it. I think that the people who set what is popular are transcendentalists, because they thought of a new idea that became greatly accepted and wanted. I do not think that popularity can ever be completely classified as transcendentalist or conformity. There will always be the people who start the popular thing and the people who follow it and make it become more popular.

when you say the word popularity it gives off a certain vibe. most people think of the sterotype for the word. the first thing that pops into your mind is the kids in highschool that are mean and who everyone wishes they could be. but really those people have fake friends. i like to think of other popular people that have true friends. people that others admire and look to for advice. sometimes the idea of "popular people" gets me really mad. you don't have to be a jerk for others to notice you.

Popularity is when something thats known and liked. But at the same time you can be popular and not liked very much. You might just know a lot of people. Some examples are like t.v shows, movies, people, sports, songs really anything. This concept affects my life a little, although a lot of people know Hannah and I as "the twins". I really don't think that this can be transcendental. Of course everyone wants to be popular. Really what people call popular in our school are the people who act cool and everything. And most of them are stuck up, and all bratty. What i see it as people who are nice to everyone, and have a decent amount of friends, then i would consider them popular.

Being popular is well known by someone/something is very well known. My deffinition is how much you are liked by others. These concepts effect lives by shapping who a person is. Someone could spend their whole life trying to get noticed from others. With that said, it could be trascendtal by different approaches trying to get noticed. One person could try sports while another tries to gain recognition from getting good grades in school. On the other hand popularity could be going against trascentalism because an individual could try go get popular from following others, such as drinking or smoking.

Popualrity is something that is known and liked. Mant differnt things can be popular. It can be a popular tv show, item, fashion, style, even personality. People always want to do what is popular. It could be the dumbest thing to do and people will still do it. People want to fit in. Everybody does something that they are trying to fit in. For something to be popular people have to do it then other people will follow. Things that are popular are ussaly fads. Fashion is always a fad. There are so many differnet clothes. People may think that it is cool one day but the next think that it is stupid. Popualrity is everywhere even of you don;t notice it. And it affects your life no mader what.

Popuarlity is a big subject, expecially in high school. My definition of popularity is a person or thing who is well known by a wide range of people. I don't think that populartiy only has to do with people. It can deal with a certian kind of clothes, food, really just about anything can be popular. Popularity can be transendental, depending on why it is popular. If an object or person is popular because people in their own mind choose to like it, then it can be transendetal. If people like it to fit in then it is not transdendentalism. I think it is rare that something is popular because everyone likes it. Not everyone has the same intrests and likes/dislikes. I don't think there is something or someone that everyone person likes. Popularity isn't a big part of my life. I do what I like to do, whether or not it is popular.

Popularity is a big aspect in life. Popularity is basically the quality of being widely admired, accepted or sought after. Popularity can be transcendenatal because someone can think they are popular in their minds, and dont care what other people think. Where as, if people do things to try to fit in or be popular then its not transcendenatl. There are many different categories of being popular, whether it be people, clothes, or even food. Popularity doesnt really affect me that much, I like to be an individual. I mean, everyone at one point in their life follows the trends or the crowds, but you cant let that stuff effect you as an individual.

Popularity determines how many people know or like you. Because sometimes a lot of people know you but they may not like you, or vice versa. It affects my life by determining who's popular and who isn't. But sometimes there are exceptions. I have a lot of friends but i'm not considered popular. I don't think it can be considered transcendental. Mainly because it's not an individual thing, it depends on the people around them to think if that person is popular or not.

Mr.Kay,
Popularity in the dictionary is defined as being liked by most people. But In my opinion I would define it as being understood. What makes me think that is that we usually have a hard time accepting those people who have diffrent opinions or have diffrent ideas then us. I think that popularity affects my life in the ways of seeing that people will actually try to be someone thats totally oppisite from who they are just so they can be judged by a group of people. I think that popularity can be trancendental because people go beyond who they really are to try to fit in to this so called normal lifestyle. Basically in my opinion popularity is all in your head. Because If you find yourself to be a well liked person it's all your opinion.

Popularity in my opinion is someone that everyone knows and or thinks is cool. This affects my life in many ways. One reason is because a good portion of my friends are "popular" in the school so sometimes they don't want to hang out with me. Also, I am not one of the cool popular people so not a lot of people talk to me. However i think that i am one of the well known popular people so when i do meet someone knew they usually know who I am which is a good thing most of the time. With that it can be bad because sometimes if someone you don't know thinks you do know them, then they will want to hang out and be friends. But at the same time it can be vise-versa. This can be transcendental because if you are an individual it can make you popular or not depending on what you do. Also, i think the people that really try to be popular aren't individuals because they follow the crowd with what they wear or do so they are conformist.

To me popularity means being liked. Different things can be popular depending on the people who like it. Bands, people, shoes, colors are all possibilities of what could be popular. Depending on the number of people who like something the more popular it becomes. i wouldn't consider popularity as being transcendental. The transcendental part about popularity lies in the persons view. If the person truly like and a agrees with the popular subject, thats not conformity, their stating what they like and contributing to it's popularity.

Popularity is a very broad subject and is used in a lot of different things. Many things can be popular or many people can be popular. Clothes, sports, or your friends can be popular. Many people wear the same kinds of clothes because everybody wears them so it is a popular thing. Many people may play the same sports because they are popular. In terms of transcendentalism I don't think popularity falls in that catoregy. The way I see it popularity is by everybody not just one person. One person may start the popular thing but I thing it doesn't relate to transcendentalism very much.

I think popularity is being liked or being accepted to a group. Many people try to be popular so they can feel liked and have a group to fit in. Alot of people try to be something there not just so people can like them. popularity doesnt really effect my life because i dont let it. To me popularity is not everything you can be yourslef and still have friends and be in a group. I dont think it could be tanscendentalism because usally being popular your in a group your not speaking your own mind and your own ideas. You follow other people and your not yourself competley.

Popularity to me is the way people judge you on there own personal scale. Really popularity is a way of being judged by how other people see you and not for who you actually are. Personally I think popularity is asinine. It affects my life in different ways. Some people would consider me as a cool person and others wouldn't. This is not in any way shape or form transcendental in my opinion. Millions of people us popularity every day. Popularity is in the eye of the beholder. haha

Popularity is somthing that almost every teenager wants. It is what our society wants little kids to think that they have to be, when they get older. I don't ever think that it can ever be traneddental because it just can't. To most girls popularity means being on the cheer team. But what they don't know is that in the little inner circle of friends they are popular. They don't need to be on the cheer team to be popular. To there friends and family they are popular. That is what our society shuld be saying. That is the one thing that our society NEEDS to change. ALexa Rumpz

I would define popularity being somone who is known all around like movie stairs and por athleats or simply someone in a school. This concept really doesnt affect me because i could give a rats ass if someone is popular or not. As long as your nice to your peers and everything then i would define you a popular. I wouldnt call is trascendental becaue its all around and no matter who you are you want to be popular. People who sees someone popular they what that to and begin to do the same which wouldnt put you as an individualist.

Popularity can have many definitions. Personally, my definition of popular would be, just hanging out with a large group of friends just having a good time! Many people, I know I have thought this too that the popular people are the ones who always have really nice clothes, always look good, and have a wide spread of friends. Ever since I entered high school, that has changed for me. I came from Oak Valley, but still find that all of my really good friends came from White Lake as long as Oak Valley. Popularity isn't about going out partying, hanging with the "cool" people, it's just about you and your friends having fun. I don't really think that having popularity can be a transcendental. I think that that it's just something that all kids have to go through. Coming home sad because the "popular" kids were mean, and wouldn't let he/she be in their group. Later in life, everyone will learn that it's not about being popular, it's about having friends you like you for you, not for who you pretend to be/ want to be.

People view the word popularity in many different ways. There are popular people , groups and music etc. This concept effects my life because I see it all the time at school , on tv etc. People at school who think their "popular" are only really popular in their own group. And same with celebrities they are only really popular with certain people. The concept of popularity can be viewed as transcendtal because everyone has their own individual thoughts and opinions of what popularity is and who or what is poppular. I think as a whole the idea of popularity is a big part of our world today. Most people wont do something or wear something if its not popular and some people wont hang out with other people if their not popular. Popularity is all up to how you see things.

Popularity can be used in different ways. First there is the popularity in your little group of friends. This means that in your group of friends you are well liked. And then there is the big popularity with the movie vision. The prom king and queen and the well known people in the school. It also reaches beyond school and can reach the entire world. Like the president of the United State. Weither he is liked or not. I think it popularity can be transdental. Some movies make popularity seem like it's the coolest thing in the world and everyone should want it. However some people don't end up liking it.

Mr. Kay,
Popularity is something someone possesses to make them known or like by many. It is more on the side of being known but you should be liked to fit into this category. For instance, Obama has been popular lately due to the news. Whether they are saying bad things about him or good, he is still popular now-a-days. The concept of popularity affects people's lives because people will follow popular people's styles and ideas and such. This can affect me because it could make a big mob of people thinking something and changing things for them and then that idea they are thinking will become well supported due to everyone following. This idea doesn't exactly follow transcendentalism but the only thing is a person or group with fun new ideas or styles could start a new crowd. So the leaders of a group are transcendent but the rest are not.

Popularity doesn't really affect my life because I don't care about what people think of. Of course I want people to like me but if they don't, i couldn't care less. I don't think that the idea of popularity is trancendental. People that are mostly popular do things that they think others will make others like them. This idea is all about following other kids ideas. I don't like popularity but at school im not really bothered by it. I just live my life like i think i should.

Popularity is how much something is liked. Popularity can be many different things. It can be music, clothes, people, and electronic stuff. Popularity applies to my life because of all the music that everyone knows and just all the "popular" people. They all wear the name brand clothes and are usually pretty exclusive and talk behind people's backs. But then theres the people that aren't liked based on what they look like but what they act like and how nice they are. That is how transcendetalism fits in with popularity. It's when you don't conform because of the type of popularity. You conform in a non conformist way, if that makes any sense

I think popularity is your social status. It is where you rank in sociey. this effects my life in school and in the real world. In school if you are popular then you are THE COOL KID. Most of them are faggets. Anyway. In the outside world it would effect you in a job search. One guy may be smarter and better for the job but the if the other guy is more social and has more money he may gett the job instead of you. This can be transendental by if you arn't really popular and don't have friends you may do whatever you want and don't care what anyone thinks.

Popularity is how you rank against other people in your life around you. It is how "cool" you are to other people. However, being popular means you have lots of friends. It has nothing to do with the type of person you associate with. It affects my life because I think I am popular in the sense that I have lots of friends who respect me. This can be a transcendental idea becuase you don't have to worry about your status, you just have to be yourself and hope people like you for who you are. In the real world, these individuals might end up getting abetter job, and the "popular" people who always make fun of the smart people, will probably end up working for one one day.

Mr. Kay,

The word popularity means how cool you are. Many people who are so called "popular" or "cool", dont really have friends in their life that really care about them. A lot of people wish that they were popular, but for me, Id prefer not to be popular because I would rather have people who care about me then people who fake their feelings. Being popular is like being a fake. You always have to be a different person then if you were with people that like you for who yiou are. I know that I have many friends that really care about me and whats going on in my life. If I ever need something, they will be the first ones tio step up and help me with whatever it may be.

popularity, is a status that people look for. It is based on how people really like you. In life, it takes affect in your freinds. How popular you are sometimes defines who your real freinds are. Popularity is not always a good thing. Popularity may bring on peer pressure. It might be "cool" for the popular kids to drink and smoke, this can change lives. You also may have some freinds just because you are popular, or some may not be your freind because you are popular. I think that popularity is transcendentalist to a certain extent. Like, if you are an individual and start something new, you may become popular because of it.

popularity is when your well liked by a lot of people and when you dont have a lot of enimies or people that dont like you.i think concept affects everyones life in a very significant way. for starters most everyone wants to be liked so this is definatly something people strive for. i think for people today theres a constant want to gain popularity. i see this expressed in high school alot. tipically i would think someone who is very trancendental wouldnt be popular becuase like in the readings we looked at(Into the Wild and Walden) these trancendentalist seemed to want to be alone or discover things for themselves. so that kind of vibe dosent really lend itself well to popularity.

Mr. Kay,
All of us get wrapped up in being popular. When we go out we cant even make a stupid decision because were worried what people will think. So the question is can popularity be transcendental? No, their is no way because we pose of what other people do constantly. That is what makes something popular, when someone does something over and over. I think the world would be a better place if it wasnt for popularity. At school, we judge people for not wearing popular clothes or how they look, which is how we classify people as popular. If you ask me it is really annoying. I cant stand when people make fun of another. Its easy to tell if the two are friends and they are just making fun of another but a lot of the time they are not. To me i guess, i wish their was no such thing as "popular".

popularity is something that can be defined in many ways. It's kind of overated in many ways. I think that being popular is not only about the title, but about actually being liked. Because you could say a lot of hated people are popular. I do not see being popular as being a transendentlist thought. Inless you make your popularity into a positive aspect. In that case I think that is shaking up the whole matter of being popular.

Popularity usually depends on how many friends you have, the more the better. It also means that you are always seen with someone everywhere you go, like Hugh Hefner. This concept affects peoples lives because if you are popular you may be more rude or disrespectful but people like you because they don't want to feel alone. If you aren't popular but you have really good friends, that should be enough for someone to be happy. This idea is affected by transcendentalism because if you are an individualist you will want to have the least amout of people to affect you so you will probably be not as popular. If you like to do things the way everyone else does then you will hang around more people so you can be more popular.

Popularity is a big part of society to people these days. To many people, they would not be able to live their lives without popularity. Popularity is were someone is wellknown or popular. Such as if i were to say someones name to a bunch of people they would know who that is. I believe this compares to individuality noit litteraly but in oppsite. a very popular person is not very individual. they are into hanging out with people. Or to be social.

i find that life is very complicated, and one of the most complicating things about it, is that there are so many people, who jusge you based upon friends. i find that at times in my life, i had not had nearly any friends. that had gone on for a while till i was about in 2nd grade, then people had really started to try to get to know me better, but as we all know, when we were children, we all had ADD and short memory's, so many people over the years, who i hadn't talked to, lost touch with me, and thats when i was really consider, by myself, a man with few friends, not all of which like me all that well.

the big turn around happened in 9th grade, and i owe my life to these people, but in 9th grade, i went into choir, and this would be my second year of choir. so many people helped me last year come out of my shell, and they helped me become the more outgoing person i am today. as i stay true to my morals, and individualism today, i am i debt to those friends og mine, and i owe what i am right now, to them.

thank you Andrew, Christian, Katy Jamie, Lindsay, Renee, Jessica, Kyle, and many others, who i am reluctant to remember your names, i am so sorry of that, but thanks you for accepting me. it helps a lot.

so popularity for me has really been on the back of my mind. as i do have many friends now, i still consider my self to be unpopular, because there are higher levels of people who are popular, and i am nowhere near them, nor do i ever want to be one of those people who only hangs out with people, because they are cool. that will forever not be me.

this can be very transcendental, but it really isn't, as many people are alike in the way that i just described. its not life changing to many, but only to the few, those people being my friends.

Popularity is something well known and accepted. When you think of popular you think cool, well known, etc. Sometimes popular can mean being snoty, braty, mean, and rude. The meaning of popularity is just difrent from person to person. Popularity varies on a group to group basis. There could be a popular guy/girl at skiing and there can be a popular guy or girl in the chest club. Popularity just depends on how you are accepted as a person.

Popularity is the state of being liked, admired, or supported by many people. The concept of popularity affects my life by putting me in the middle social class in school. And I don’t care about where I am put or what others think of me. The idea that popularity could be transcendental because it celebrates the individual. The individual can be liked for his simplicity and doing what is right. Some times it can not be transcendental because the majority is some times corrupt and can not be trusted.

Popularity is a concept of generally accepted ideas, beliefs, or entertainment. We all are different so we should not have (in my opinion) because it ties us down to one idea. If popularity dominated all, it would be such a dull and non prosperous existence. It is also necessary, popular beliefs can give us the power to create laws in witch we are not harmed. There is also the fact we are bound to our culture and pre-experience. To this I wonder around the world, what we would call taboo, others would call it fine. So I just thought of this less than 3 weeks ago; there is no good, there is no evil. There are only 2 things clashing in total dichotomy, 2 entirely different beliefs, clashing. And when it's over, there is no righteous victor.

[pop-yuh-lar-i-tee] –noun 1. the quality or fact of being popular.
2. the favor of the general public or of a particular group of people

Popularity. The plague of highschool and TV ratings. It can make false relationships and break real ones, win awards and lose them. Its like natural selection- The strong will persevere, but the weak will be eaten (Kinda like the freshmen - senior thing...) The "popular" choice is always followed by the crowd, making it very untranscendental. This...."popularity".....thing... It dosent bother me much. If you dont like me, im fine with that. Just dont be a wimp and hide it. As im sure youve noticed, i DONT listen to the crappy music of today (Rap and Hip-Hop), i DONT dress in all them desginer clothers (Abercrombie and such), heck i wear a hand-stiched cloak now and then. I dont read the same material, play the same games, buy the same stuff... Im definitely one of a kind. I dare ANYONE to test that ^_^ (P.S. This is my second time doing this one; My net crashed the first time, and it was VERY different T_T)
