I want to experience. I want to travel, I want to see and learn everything. I want to know everything. I want to do something extremely spontaneous. Like Thoreau I can't stay in one place. Thoreau didn't want to stay in the woods, and i don't want to stay in white lake. I want to keep moving and creating new experiences and relationships. Thoreau regretted not educating himself well, and wished that he could be more intelligent. Emerson and Thoreau both believe in non-conformity and being spontaneous is not a luxury conformist uphold. Yes i see parts of myself in Thoreau and Emerson, but not completely. I do believe in their transcendentalist points of view. Unlike Thoreau i could not live in solitude, believing that distance between people is only physical because were all in this together? i couldn't live alone because relationships with people is what makes living worth it.

Suprisingly, one of the things that i want to experience is failure. I think it is something that will make us stronger in the long run. It will be a better experience to make us ready to handle all situations to come. Secondly i want to feel lonliness, kind of like thoreau. I want to be able to live off knowing who i really am and what i really want. Lastly, i want to experience happiness. Besides areas of learning i want life to be very fun and enjoyable. I think that everyone should experience something good in their lives. I personally see myselfas an Emerson or Thoreau. But not to an extent that i would totally move away from civilizations. To agree with walden i do think that that life is way to complex. I think that we have more bad in life than good and need to slow down and take less things for granted.
Mr. KAy,
I want to experiance life in a whole different way. I want to see the world from the point of view without the crazy city and towns. I want to live in the wilderness just like Thoreau wanted to. I want to travel and survive in the wild the way that civilization started. Like Thoreau I want to constantly experianec and view different parts of the world that will make me a better person, along with aporeciating life more. Thoreau wasnt very sociable though. Which I am the total opposite, in that way I am unlike Thoreau.

My. Kay,
In my life, I want to experience peacefulness. Not just for a day but for a long period of time. I want to be very simple in a period of life. Sometimes I really like quietness and I am also very independent so that's why I like to be at peace. I hope to also live in New York for a while. There is tons of independence there and there is always going to be something to do. Lastly I would like to be different. I don't really like the fact that people want to live like "normal" people. I want almost everything in my life to be different from natural standpoint in some way. This is not just to say, "Hey, I'm different", but to prove I want to have fun in life and not just be so called "normal". I do feel a bit like Thoreau in he fact that I just want to get away and be different. I don't know if I want to be almost alone but I do enjoy peace and for a long time it would be nice.

In my life i want to go out and see the world. I want to travel to different places. I want to lear everyhing i can and get a good education. I dont want to stay in one place for my hole life, just like Thoreau. He didnt want to stay in the woods forever he just wnated to be there for a little while and then move on. I think that making new relationships with people and seeing new places is the hole point of life. It wouldnt be much fun just taling to the same people every day in the some exact place. Yes i see some parts of me in Thoreau and Emerson. Not all is alike but some is. Like i said before the not wanting to stay in one place forever is like Thoreau.

In my life I would like to experience a new life. I think that it would be cool to try out a new culture or a new life style. I would be nice to experience that pesons life and see how different it was from my own. I would also like to experience power. It would be fun bossing around people and making them do what I want them to do. Also I would like to experience happiness. To be so happy that nothing could make me mad. My desires kindoff compair with thoreaus disre to live in the woods. But I don't see my self doing what he did. I don't think I have it in me to be on my own and survive by myself.

I want to experience many things in my life. However the three things that I would like to experience are normal. First of all, I would like to experience life after high school. I want to feel what it's like to be in college and life in the real world. I want to see how life is and how I can deal with it. Another thing that I would like to experience is complete happiness. If I can achieve that, then my life will have a huge goal accomplished. The last thing that I would like to experience is how to live on my own. This may sound like my first idea. However, I think that this is more of a fight for yourself. I want to be on my own without help, advice, or financial aid. I want to make my own money and find my own way. College, I know will help with this, but street smarts and life in the world smarts comes as you live. Sometimes I believe that my ideas are just like Thoreau's. I don't think that my ideas are as extreme as Thoreau's. He wants to live in the wild and I just want to live in the real world. His ideas are like mine in the sense that I want to find happiness and so does he. He wants the world to find a total peace which I agree with. I see myself as a Thoreau because I want to find a way to lighten everybody's day. I hate when other people are stressed or struggling with time and so does Thoreau and he tries to find a remedy.

I would want to experience a lot of things. But one main thing I would want to experience in my life is being able to travel the world. And see the world in a new point of view. Another thing I would wan tto experience is moving to a different state, and just starting my life over, and re inventing myself. Lastly, I would want to do something completly spontaneous, and not planned. Like just going on a trip for a summer. These experiences are similar to Thoreaus's and Emerson's because they wanted to live in a transcendentilistic environment. Also Emerson and Thoreau believed in non comformity, and didnt like to stay in one place. They liked to move on to bigger and better places. Like Thoreau said, he regretted not educating himself in school, I want to build my education about travel, and the world.

3 expirences i want to have are to go to college , travel to other countries and something spontaneous. I want to go to college and be out on my own , i want to be able to expirence what its like to have real life reponsiblities. I also want to travel around the world and to be able to see other cultures and how other people live. And the third thing i want to do is to do something completely spontaneous , like go sky diving. Im usually very conseritive and i dont like to take huge chances but sometime in my life i want to do something out of the ordinary and take a chance. I see some of myself in Thoreau because i like to make people happy and if their sad to make their day better and so does thoreau. But on the other side Thoreau likes to live in solitude and not have many relationships , i couldnt do this i like have the relationships i do with other people and i dont know how i could get through the day with out having relationships with other people.

I want to have many experiences. Older people are consider wise due to the learning they do in their experiences. First, I want to see the world. I want to learn about the people and how they live differently from me. This may include finding which lifestyle I like best. Second, I want to face my biggest fear. This fear happens to be heights. So I would do something like skydiving or bungee jumping. This will make me less scared of other things cause I've already faced my biggest. Third, I want a experience of a good education. This will allow me to go far in life. My desires contrast with Thoreau. He would like to stay in place and learn about one thing while mine is stretched acrossed the entire world and many different subjects. I do however kinda see myself as Thoreau because we would both be learning about ways we arn't used to and we both can't stay in one place.

Mr.Kay,
In my life I want to experience happiness. I know that it's such a simple thing but when you think about it deeply it basicly sums every thing up. I also want to experice success and loss. The reason for success is because I want my carrer to go far and I wnat to become the best I can. Bt at the same time I want to experience loss because nothings more annoying then those people who have everything and don't appreciate anything there given. My disires compare to Toreau's because I usually like to be calm and I love to do things that will help me bring out the inner me. I do but I don't see myself as Emerson and Thoreau. I do because at times sometimes I like to just get away from my problems. But I don't because I could never picture myself isolating myself far away from any type of civilization.

Mr. Kay,
There are many different things that I want to experience in my life. 1st off, I want to experience the culture's of a whole different world. Meaning that I want to explore a whole new place, somewhere most people don't think of going. 2nd, I want to experience the difference or opposite of a whole new me. Meaning that I want to experience what it would be like if I had the total opposite characteristics of what I have right now. And 3rd, I want to experience the feeling of pursuing my wildest dreams. I want to be able to look back at my life, and know that I have a great future ahead of me.

I want to experience pure joy in my life. I wish to have a day where their are no problems in the world and everything is settled and figured out. I want to go back where I lived my childhood and see how much it has changed. I hope to experience seeing all of my old friends again. My disires compare with Thoreau by living in peace. I see myself more in Thoreau because he wants to live a simple life. I agree, complicating things just stress you out and make life mroe difficult to enjoy.

I want to get married someday. I want to hopefully have a family too. Lastly, i want to travel across hte united states when i retire. I NEVER want to live in the woods, like Thoreau talks about. I think life in society works just fine for me. I pretty much dont see any of me in emerson or thoreau. I say this because im fine with being like society. Im also fine with americas way of life. I am in individual, but i dont need to be seperated to be an individual.

In my life I want to go to outer space, I think it would be fun and it would be quiet, peaceful, and make me feel completely isolated. I also want to find a cure for cancer and aids to help so many people. One other thing is to overcome every fear I have or will find that I have. I want to be fealess and not be scared to swim in deep water or be able to hear a train horn or see a train without freaking out. Yeah, I know that's a weird fear. These hopeful dreams compare to Thoreau's because with going into space I just want to be alone and I think he wanted that when he was going out to the woods to find himself as an individual. Wanting to find a cure for diseases and finding a way to face my fears ties into him wanting to become wise and learn things in the woods. I would have to say I am more like Thoreau than Emerson although they are kind of similar. I would be totally fine with the idea of being lonely and I could go into the woods for a while but the fact that he knew when to go back and do something else new sounds more like me.

Mr. Kay,
In my life are many experiences that I wish to have. I want to see the world. I want to expirience college, being on my own, and finnaly total happiness. Unlike Thorea I like to have a plan and know what im doing at all times. I think sometimes I kind of rely on materialistic items to much and I dont think I could live in the woods. I sometimes do see myself in Emerson because I like to do things on my own sometimes. Like in school I think I would rather work by myself the with a partner.

In my life there many things I want to experience. First, I want to live life to the fullest. I have not experienced life to it's fullest potential and I want to have an opportunity where I can. Whether this is doing something adventurous or just something small that brings pure joy to me. Second, I want to fulfill my goals for the future. This includes creating a successful life for myself by going to college and supporting myself on my own. Then I want to have a family of my own. Thirdly, I want to experience joy not only in my life, but others as well. I have never experienced the joy I have created for others, and I think that this would be a very rewarding. These and many others are things I want to experience in life. I think I realate more to Thoreau than Emerson. Like Thoreau I want to experience simplicity in life. I also would like to live life to the fullest, in Thoreau's words, digging to the bottom of the pond.
I want to experience many things in my life. First of all, i want to experience never giving up because i have given up before and it has hurt me in the long run. Also, i want to experience life as if i was in war. This is because it will make me stronger and io think apreciate things more in mny life. Also, i would like to experience true happiness were nothing goes wrong and everything is just perfect. i mean i have been happy but just because something good has happened over the bad things that have happened. i dont think my experiences really are like Thoreau's EXCEPT the one were i wnat to apprecaite things more like him in the nature. in one way i see myself in thoreau or Emerson but not that much. The only reason i see myself is because they want to be and are individual.

I want to experience the feeling of true accomplishment, I never seem to never have that feeling. I think if I did, my confindence would go up more. I want to experience living someone elses life, like people in Kenya many of them its hard to live. I just want to become stronger, and appricate more. My desires go along with Thoreau's by living more peacefully. I think this because hes more simple. I don't really like things to be really hard, even if the situations are really easy. I just get way to stressed out. I want to experience life as a carefree, less stressed teen. Anyways thoreau was not so sociable, and i'm the total opposite. So, I'm sort of like him.

There are many things I want to experience. One of these is living back when my parents were my age, and doing what they did. When ever my parents tell me something fun that they did back when they were my age, made me want to go back and do it too. The stupid government is so strick now in days that you can ever do a lot of the stuff you used to be able to back when my parents were 15. Another thing I want to experience in my lifetime would be to achieve all the goals I have set for myself. If I could accomplish all my goals I think I could have it made. A third thing I want to experience is me overcoming a fear. Hopefully I can overcome the fear of death and dying. I think once I get older and understand more about it and know that I will have to go sometime, I will feel much better. My desires compare with Thoreau's wish because I dont want to do anything thats almost impossible to do or something that everybody has done already. I just want to live my life to the fullest and do what I know I can do.

Three experiences that I hope to have to over come just being superficial. They are do my best, make a differcne in though my life, and learn and live life to the fullest. Some of these desires can be compared to Thoreau and Emerson but not all. Thoreau says to live a simply and diliberate life and which are very similar to what i hope for. I see a little of myself in Thoreau but do not agree with him all the way. THis is beacsuse I belive in a deliberate life, but not a simply. Techonlgy makes the world a better place.

In life I want to experience change. I want to experience the wonders of the world and see the pyramids. I want to experience something amazing that will make me cry other than pain. More or so I want to be "moved". It compares by him wanting to go live in the woods and my wanting to be moved. He decided to go into the woods and he decided to come out of the woods with the same reason.I see myself more as Thoreau. I think this because he says that we can deny the government in a civilized way. that the government is not always necessary for everything.I like so stand up for what I believe in even if the majority of the people don't.

skydiving again. mountain climbing. and last but not least id like to surf again!!!no because, thoreau's wish, would lead to death had he kept on going on with the wish. no my experience's are not lifetaking, they are attainable, and achievable. it is not human to want to downgrade and live off the land. most people want an easier life and most people also want people to give them free handout's.
I would like to experience many things in my life. I would like to live by my own rules. I would like to travel around the world and meet new people. And most of all I would like to do different things every day so I'm not doing the same things every day. Like Thoreau I don't wish to stay in one place. But I think it would be a great experience staying in the woods for a while. I believe the time in the woods would really help me find my true character. I definitely think I can see myself relating to Thoreau. Not only can he not stay in one place for a while like myself, but he also likes to have time to himself.

Three things I want to experience in my life are traveling to places on my ongoing list, doing something wild and on the edge, and just feeling completely 100% satisfied with my life. These things aren't superficial to me because it is something I really want to do. Traveling gives you a whole new perspective of the world and doing something daring is good for a challenge and sense of accomplishment. I think that although I want a happy life, I am unlike Thoreau. He wants to live simply and isolated and I want to be around people and try new things. As fun as an occassional camping trip may be, living off the land for a long time really isn't my idea of fun. I do see parts of Thoreau and Emerson in me. I want to be happy and live my life the way I want to. I just want to be myself and not care what other people think.

I want to experience a lot in my lifetime. I hope to travel, live in other countries, help people in the world, do something for the enviroment, and maybe get involved in politics along the way. I would love to do a lot in my lifetime. My desires compare to Thoreau a lot in the aspect that we both want to experience life on our own. Do things on our on time, do them how we want to do it. They differ however in the fact that I believe you can still experience life without being secluded from society. He said he wanted to leave the woods because he had many more different lives to live. I agree in this aspect because I think that everyone wants to create a new life for themselves. I see some of myself in Thoreau and Emerson, however I do think our views of how to live life do differ from one another.
I want to experience life to it's full potential. I want to be able to go all the places I haven't or already been, to re live everything. Also, I want to have a family. Someone that I will always be there for, and that they will always be there for me. In a few ways I think I'm like Thoreau. I also can't be in the same place for long, I like to be constantly on the move. Thoreau didn't just want to be in the woods, he wanted to explore the wonders of nature. I don't just want to be in the same spot, not saying moving but just go on trips. After reading I realized that Thoreau and Emerson are very of the moment type of people. Once they have something in mind, they go ahead and go for it. I wouldn't say I'm a lot like Thoreau and Emerson, just a few things here and there. I always get ideas in my head, things I would like to do, wish I could, or am going to do, just I'm to young to actually go for it. I still have to focus on education, the one thing Thoreau did not get, and regretted later in life.

I ahve many things that I would love to do in my life time. The first one is to go skydiving. I want to do this, not only to prove something to myself, but to say that life needs to be lived to the fullest. I think life is all about taking risks and dealing with the consequences, good or bad. Second, I would like to experience the feeling of good relationships with all my peers. This may not seem like a lot, but I want to prove to everyone that I can fit in with their group, even if I am not a conformist like them. That is what I believe make life worth living; the relationships. Third, I would like to experience the burden of large scale failure. It is failure that we learn from as humans, and I think failure is required to open your eyes to the danger lurking out in the world. Just like a vaccine is put in one's body to build up an immune system, failure needs to occur for success to happen. I feel I am a lot like both people in different ways. I agree with the aphorisms that Emerson touches on. I think they are true and that he has the right idea of how life should be lived. As far a Thoreau, I believe I am like him in the sense that I want to change the world and get involved for the better, to make everyone happy. He also says a lot of things that have to do with changing the status quo. Both Emerson and Thoreau show ideas of transcendentalism and non-conformity. They both want to make everyone happy in this world and so do I. However, with that being said, I think people need to work for their success. It isn't right that many people are being handed success on a stick, even today, through government welfare programs. To sum it up, I am similar to both of them in different ways.
What i want to experience in life is wanting to experience the most i can. Live to the fullest and im hoping to be succesful. But then again knowing me which everyone does a dought i will even get out of high school. Another experience would be getting a good job and again being succesful. But then again i dought it so. I want to experience traveling the world, go to college, and get married. My desires are similar and different to Thoreau’s life in the woods. I want to get married so that involves communicating with other people. Thoreau cut him self of from the world. He was a well-educated man but decided to say in woods and I want to be highly educated to make my goals. He just wanted to stay in one place and I want to travel around the world. No I do not see my self in Thoreau because I don’t want to disconnect myself from others and have to live of the land.
There are so many experiences that I wish to have that it is hard to choose just three. First, I would like to accomplish something with a team. It seems like I can accomplish a great deal by myself, but I do not work well with groups. Learning how to work well with others and bring success from everyone's ideas mixed together would be a great feeling. Secondly, I would like to feel like I made a difference in somebody's life. When I bring joy to someone else, I experience their joy too. Helping influence a person's life positively would be an amazing feeling. Finally, I would like to see as much of the world as possible. The world is like a book, and if you stay where you are, it's like you have only read one page. I want to see sights and cultures different from our daily norm. I believe that my deisres are very different from Thoreau's. He wanted simplicity and isolation from society, where I want to influence and be a part of society. I do see some aspects of myself in both Thoreau and Emerson. I believe in transcendentalism but I think that you can still live with people and share their experiences and joy while still being an individual.

Funny what this question is about, because recently i have been thinking about some of these things.
in my life, i want to meet My Idols: Ben Folds, Steve Jobs, and some of The Great comedians out there, Such as Nick Thune, which i do actually talk to on a semi regular basis. Its a real great thing to get to know famous people, and for them to care back.
I have also Talked to other famous people before, although, there is only very few so far, it think its great to meet people like this, and i think its just awesome when they care back. I have talked to the hosts of G4's AOTS. so far, those are the most famous people that i have met, i have also been less than 1 foot away from Bob Seger before.
in my life, i would love to own a nice house, n ot really in any particular location right now, but i would also like to set myself up for a decent, well-off job. so that i can afford the house, and not particularly any car at the moment, but one that will run, hopefully electric.
the electric part leads me into the third thing i want to do in life, and that is recycle as much as possible, and be as energy efficient as possible. i find that, its so easy to do, why not?
some of the many other things i would like to do in life, are kinda something, that right now, are in my nature to do. i love to play musical instruments, as well as sing, so hopefully one day, i will be able to record at least an album, and i don't care if i don't sell it to millions of people, i really want to sell it to my 20 die hard fans. and if they care, and they know i care, then i am happy. currently i have a 1 and 3/4 years guitar experience, and about 3 months of piano experience. 'good luck playing philosophy by ben folds" say a close friend, and yet, im not out to defy him, i do one day aspire to play that and any other songs very well on the piano.
so, in every sense that i have pointed out so far, i am completely opposite of Thoreau's simple life. i want to be around people, because , well, i spent a majority of my life not having many friends, but now, i aim to be around people as much as possible.
no i don't see myself in Thoreau or Emerson, because, neither of them would be to my desired liking of life, and, hey, im only here to do what i want to do, and the only thing more in life, that anyone ever helps with, is something they really care for, like relationships, and work, and many others that have slipped my mind at the moment.

What do you want to experience in your life? Give 3 experiences that you hope to have that are more than just superficial. Based on this information, how do your desires compare with Thoreau's wish to live simply and deliberately in the woods? Do you see any of yourself in Thoreau or Emerson? Why or why not?
There are many things I want to experience in my lifetime. I want to experience what the real world is like. I want to see what it takes to get by in the real world and life after school. I want to know if I'm capable of getting by when it comes to being on my own. Another thing I want to experience is the world. I want to travel to different places and learn new things. I want to see different places. My thoughts are like Thoreau's because he wants to live a peaceful and simple life and so do I. The last major thing I want to experience is being in someone else's place. I believe that when you walk in someone else's shoes that you can really start to appreciate some of the more simple things in life. I know that these thoughts aren't the most complex but I just want to lead a simple life.

Three experiences that I want to have in life is becoming a nurse, exploring the world and have a kid. My wishes are different from Thoreau's because he wanted to life simply. I on the other want to complicate my life. I think it would make my life challenging. Making me have to try my absolute hardest.

in my life i want to experience alot of things. some of the big things would be happiness, success, and being able to travel. there are so many things i wana see in the world and i dont want anything to stop me. in thoreau's writng he expressed his want to not to be lonely and to have the changing seasons like new chapters in his life. similarily with thoreau i wana see and do alot of differet things. And when i say i wana experience success i dont neccessarliy even mean being financially successsful but more like acomplishing my goals. being able to go out and do the things i want to.

In life, i wish to experience a small number of things. I want to experience true swordplay, living simply, and something best defined as "out there", if not a combination of all three. I cant say i relate to Thoreau, because im quite content staying in one place. As a matter of fact, i greatly dislike moving from place to place and meeting new people. At the same time, i could relate to Emerson, for he supported non-conformity. As im sure youve noticed (my cloak), i dont mind doing my own thing, no matter the cost. Again like Thoreau, i could not live completey alone and destitute of others, for its relationships with the people i do know in life that give me reason to continue living and waging this war called life.
